pg 1:

Shadow Crystals are shards of an ancient animus-touched mirror that was destroyed several hundred years ago, with its pieces shattered across the continent. What the original enchantment was is still unknown, however popular theories have surfaced in recent years- most notably, that it shows the truth, that it shows lies, and that it will show what will drive the holder insane. It’s believes that the original mirror was made by a Nightwing animus named W.D. Gaster. What purpose the mirror was created for or why it was destroyed is lost to time.

pg 2:

Contrary to popular belief nowadays, W.D. Gaster was not a malicious or selfish dragon. He was one of the most respected Nightwing scientists of all time, advancing technology far beyond what was believed possible without even using his magic.

The most notable achievement of Gaster was his advances in the study of animus magic. Hatched with this very gift, he performed experiments on himself to push magic to its very limit. He was in the process of writing a scroll that explained the quirks and mechanics of animus magic in depth, due to be published within a few months, when he disappeared.

Not much is known about what happened to Gaster the night of his disappearance. He was simply gone, as if shattered across time and space. Numerous theories have been crafted about the whereabouts of W.D. Gaster. Some believe he moved to settle in a quiet town after the stress of his duties wore him down. Others think the damage to his soul- a common superstition about animus magic being that overuse would damage your very being- led him to the verge of insanity, and he has been in hiding for years. Some even believe his experiments have somehow shattered him across time and space- although, the likelihood of that being true is almost none. Most definitely, Gaster simply died and was never found, perhaps assassinated by someone fearful of how his inventions might change society.

random thought i had as i was writing this,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, dragons canonically have souls in wof. or at least they have some sort of approximation of them similar to the idea of it being “the culmination of your being” like in undertale, since they believe itll be damaged by magic. who knows maybe

Woke: Folks cussing dragons out or casting judgement on how they're eaten. If you're about to die you may as well say what's on your mind, right?

Plus a scene for a future fic this put me in the mood to draw.

I confess I got inspiration from the Chikn Nugget shorts, but I mostly wanted an excuse to draw Pebble in a onesie.

Bit of a low effort comic, but I was feelin' silly.

Got into Wings of FIre via the comics, and my brain decided that it would be a great idea to develop some fan OCs while I tried the books. Which then spawned a bunch of sketches below, a whole ass comic that just needs to be scanned, and who knows what from there.

I don't even know why these two are living in my head. They just are. In the meantime, here's some profiles.

General stuff that applies to both (tw for mentioned suicide attempt):

Duckweed picked up Pebble to be his pet. He always wanted one (a pet. Not a scavenger. That was just luck) and felt more comfortable bonding with an animal than a dragon.

Despite actually picking up some Dragon on his own, Duckweed didn't realize that Pebble was sapient until he tried to kill himself.

They don't become friends right away even after that revelation...

...But once they do, they end up getting along like birds of a feather.

Pebble sometimes rides in one of Duckweed's bags. One becomes dedicated to his stuff.

Duckweed enjoys all kinds of art, but his favorite is the theatre. Pebble doesn't see the attraction.

Together, they'll go on a road trip across Pyrrhia, see the sights, take in the diverse cultures, lose their souls, learn a new language (mostly in Pebble's case), saving a family, healing, and accidentally commit murder. Not in that order.

This took a while, but I'm glad to finally post it. I hope you folks enjoy!

The next story is going to be another comic, but it's probably gonna be a few months before I can work on it. In the meantime, I'll be posting art and silly comics, but I'm also considering setting up an 'Ask' if enough people are interested. Up to you guys, but it is more content.

Second progress report for my WoF fancomic! All of the base colors (I call them 'Flats') have been added. All that's left is the shading and effects. Here's Duckweed giving an example and looking complete enough to get some proper tags.

Tbh, I'm a little nervous. I've never done a full color comic before. Much less one that's *checks* fifteen(?) pages long.
