This elegant pendant was inspired by nature overgrown, and the wildness of the sea. Swirls of copper have been handwoven delicately around a natural agate slice, and decorated with a genuine aquamarine bead. The copper has been naturally oxidized with mineral salts, to achieve an antiqued finish. Agates are commonly found on beaches and shorelines throughout the world, and are likely to be exposed after a large storm. When broken open they often have unique patterns resembling trees or landscapes. Metaphysically this stone is known as a powerful healer. It can inspire courage, strengthen the body, and promote positive energy flow. Many use it to aid with cleansing negative energy, accepting oneself, and stabilizing emotions. It can be a wonderful stone for empaths, as it is said to provide energetic protection and emotional shielding. Aquamarine contains pure ocean energy. The name of Baba Yaga is composed of two elements. Baba means “grandmother” or “old woman” in most Slavic languages. There are two versions of the origin of this name. Yaga is probably a diminutive of the feminine name Jadwiga, in turn, is a Slavicized form of the Germanic Hedwig. Baba Yaga was derived in Slavic folklore. Baba Yaga is a supernatural witch who appears as a deformed-looking woman. Baba Yaga flies around in a mortar, wields a pestle, and dwells deep in the forest in a hut usually described as standing on chicken legs. When I was a kid, my favorite storybook was called “Bonylegs” and it was about Baba Yaga herself. This Baba Yaga pendant may help or hinder those that encounter or seek her out and may play a maternal role and has associations with forest wildlife.
