Song Review: Neil Young and Nicolette Larson with the Gone with the Wind Orchestra - “Lady Wingshot”

With elements snatched from the melodies that make up “Broken Arrow,” “Like a Hurricane” and “The Ways of Love,” Neil Young’s “Lady Wingshot” is an idea never fully realized.

Recorded in low fidelity Nov. 10, 1977, in Nashville and previously unreleased, the version set to appear on Neil Young Archives Vol. III (1976-1987) finds Young singing alongside a muffled and barely recognizable Nicolette Larson and a group of musicians dubbed the Gone with the Wind Orchestra.

It’s an early take that ends with Young complaining about “one guitar that’s sticking out electronically in the midrange,” as if that’s the only problem with the song. It follows “Bright Sunny Day” and “Winter Winds” from the forthcoming (Sept. 6) boxset and while “Lady Wingshot” serves completists’ desires, the track adds nothing to fans’ understanding of Young and his creative processes.

the best (and worst) part about writing transformers fanfic is when you're writing something that includes canonically named characters that have no other given information. trying to flesh out the disappeared cybertronians on the necroworld is so strange bc they're all technically their own named characters but for most of them there is like. no information for them.

all of these names and there's NOTHING to base them off of. it's an empty sandbox to do whatever the hell i want with it (aka giving ravage a tiny army that he brings to sanctuary <3)

Dirt Boss- ...Do I need to even say anything?

Jetfire- First crush, defiantly rumbles Hotshot’s size kink up. Also his voice through out all three UT Parts. Oh, and his spike. Defiantly his spike. Has not seen it but he bet that his fantasies doesn’t do it justice.

Wheeljack- Ex-Boyfriend of course. Still loves him but knows that it has long since past.

Sideways- Despite what the damned mech did...still have feelings. Adventurous with their fragging and fragged almost everywhere at the Armada base...including the control room.

Starscream- One of the only seekers who doesn’t give him shit about his heritage before dying by the hands of Unicron. Also, it be fun if his heat would trigger Starscream’s. He is very curious of what would happen.

Thrust- ...Purely for science.

Tidal Wave- ...Size Kink and curiosity. That's all there is to it.

Inferno- if there’s one mech he absolutely 100% trusts with fragging him, it’s his old childhood friend, Inferno.

Wing Saber- That’s IF the guy can actually get over himself. Hotshot wondered what a mech in rut fragging him while he’s in heat would be like. He suspected that his valve would be very sore by the end of it.

Scorpinok- ...I don’t know. I needed a tenth mech. It’s all Ironhide’s fault if Scorps ever frags Hotshot.
