I hate parasocial relationships and I hate that I’m in one. I’ve been watching Richard Hammond’s work a lot for nearly three years, and Izzy Hammond’s and I loved when Mindy and Willow appeared on Richard Hammond’s workshop.

Then today on Twitter he announces the end of his marriage, that he and Mindy are getting divorced and I don’t know why but I’m devastated. I have no right to be. I do not know these people, they do not have the slightest inkling that I exist, not should they, but since reading his book “On The Edge” I’ve been so invested in them as a couple that I saw his announcement on Twitter and I burst into tears.

He has asked for privacy and I will of course respect that, but I do want them all to be well and happy, and I know that it’s nearly impossible to be both over the course of a breakdown of a relationship and my heart breaks for the entire family.

There is a divorced couple I know, who live separately, but they still see each other socially a few times a week, they’ll occasionally do Christmas together if one of their adult children is hosting. And it’s absolutely none of my business, but I think Richard and Mindy Hammond are both incredible people who have been through a lot together and I really hope they can have that kind of relationship, not one filled with animosity and resentment.

On one level this announcement makes me lose my faith in love and relationships entirely which is completely stupid. I hate myself for having this reaction and I hate myself that a stranger’s marriage breaking down has this sort of effect on me, but I’d never really become emotionally invested or followed a celebrity in this way before and the strength of my emotional response to the announcement was both shocking and deeply embarrassing.

Well, what have I been up to in the past months? Actually I haven't played that much during the summer... I did do the login event and got all the rewards before we got them for free a couple of months later (because the event was bugged). And speaking of bugged events, yes I'm playing the Reaper's Rewards event. After a rocky start I progressed a little bit with Devin (a midlife crisis seemed like a good starting point to seek a bit of adventure assisting Grim). However since last week's patch I switched to a new save without mods.

So here's Amy Hammond, fishing for Angelfish in Crawdad Quarter in Willow Creek.

Meanwhile she's finished the quests from week 4. Now only week 5 and 6 (and 2 weeks to go). I think I'll have enough time to manage that, though it involves grinding Amy's skills (cooking, gourmet cooking, etc).

As for the Abbotts: I'll switch back to them after finishing the Reapers Rewards event. Since I've played them a couple of times, lot of things have happened, including lots of family members aging up. So I need to catch up with my family tree first before I can play again. At this point I might as well start writing new posts first. If I have enough posts to fill up a queue that'll be running for a long enough time, I'll start posting here again. 🙂🤞

A Moment of Reflection

While the movement to stop the Willow Project is far from over, it's time to pause and reflect on the past few months.

When I first learned about the Willow Project's environmental impacts earlier this year, I was shocked and motivated to take action. Prior to the project's approval, I signed various petitions and sent letters to politicians to express my concerns and disapproval of such a project.

Sadly, the project was approved on March 13. I was frustrated and in disbelief that it actually was approved. Although it is a (slightly) scaled-down version of the original project, it will still accelerate carbon emissions and climate change. Despite this disappointing news, we have continued our fight. Environmental organizations and indigenous groups have filed lawsuits in response to the decision. I have continued my work by signing more petitions and submitting more comments to politicians that the decision to approve the project was a mistake. Throughout this process, I have continued to log my experiences on this blog and hopefully inspire a few others to take action too.

Climate change affects each and every one of us. Those at the frontlines will be affected more so. The climate crisis is also a human rights crisis.

As Hammonds writes, "we need a radical rethink of the way we live and interact with our planet."

Asking Simblr: What's your tiara lore?

Hi!!! Oh, I don't understand this lol, but if what you mean is which tiara is like the most popular one or the traditional tiara for the Hammonds I have to say it's either the Leuchtenberg Tiara, or the Russian Kokoshnik Tiara. The first one is a recent aquisition. It comes from Cristobal's family. I think it belonged to his mother Queen Teresa. As for the second one, that's the most chosen one by the Hammond Queens because it has emerals on them, and they are green like the national color of Willow Creek. I'll leave a picture of Margaret and Margaery wearing them
