50cm:Wilier Triestina become Neri Sottoli-Selle Italia-KTM for 2019
The Italian Wilier Triestina-Selle Italia team will be known as Neri Sottoli-Selle Italia-KTM in 2019, with Giovanni Visconti and Dayer Quintana leading a roster of 17 riders.
The Italian Professional Continental team secured a licence from the UCI for the 2019 season but had still to reveal their title sponsors. They did so via the pages of La Gazzetta dello Sport, which listed the rosters of the four Italian Professional teams (Androni Giocattoli, Bardiani-CSF, Nippo-Vini Fantini-Faizanè and Neri Sottoli-Selle Italia-KTM).
The Italian sports newspaper's parent company organises the Giro d’Italia but warned about the dire consequences the Italian Professional Continental teams face in 2020, when only two, rather than four, wild card invitations to the Giro d’Italia will be awarded. The other two places will go to the best-ranked Professional Continental teams, but the Italians are struggling to secure the sponsorship, riders and points needed to take on their bigger French rivals such as Cofidis, Direct Energie and Arkéa Samsic.

Italy no longer has a WorldTour team and while it still has 51 riders in the WorldTour peloton, it has been overtaken as the biggest nation by Belgium that has 52 riders.
La Gazzetta dello Sport highlighted that while the four Professional Continental teams won 74 races in 2018, none were at WorldTour level and only six were in Italy. The vast number came in minor races in Asia, where the teams are paid to race. The Italian teams secured just one WorldTour wild card place, with Nippo-Vini Fantini invited to the Amstel Gold Race to celebrate the retirement of former winner Damiano Cunego.
A 17-rider roster for Neri Sottoli-Selle Italia-KTM
Neri Sottoli-Selle Italia-KTM have still to unveil their jersey design but are due to make their season debut at the Vuelta a San Juan in Argentina.

The 9th Edition of Tour of China 2018 Comes to an End
ANSHUN, China — The sixteen-day Tour of China 2018 is concluded in Anshun, Guizhou Province on 23rd September, as the 13th stage witnesses the victory of Jakub Mareczko from Wilier Triestina – Selle Italia. The last stage in Anshun is a circuit race of 127.8 kilometers with two sprints and one KOM of Category 4.
The stage remained exciting and unpredictable due to little difference between riders’ results after the 12th stage. No rabbit group was formed even after 40 kilometers, though riders had never stopped breaking out from the peleton since race started.
As the peleton kept its pace, Luke Mudgway from H&R Block Pro Cycling Team led the rabbit group of four who worked together quite well, with the gap of 1 minute 50 seconds. The gap narrowed, however, as the peleton started to chase with 30 kilometers to go, and finally caught up with the rabbit group, with 2 kilometers away from the finish.
Mareczko first crossed the finishing line in the group rush, ending up with the final result of 2h 38m 50s. Kaden Groves from Mitchelton-Bikeexchange and Andrii Kulyk from Beijing XDS-Innova Cycling Team earned second and third place respectively.
TOC II was wrapped up with great attention. In terms of the Individual Classification, the Yellow Jersey goes to Alejandro Marque from Sporting/Tavira, the Blue Jersey to Kaden Groves from Mitchelton-Bikeexchange, and the Polka-dot Jersey to Christofer Jurado Lopez from Trevigiani Phonix Hemus 1896. Jiang Zhihui, also from MBE, managed to keep his White Jersey, representing the highest honor of the riders from the Greater China Area. As to the Team Classification, Bennelong Swisswellness, an Australian team won the first place, while MBE grabbing the titles of both Best Chinese Team and Best Asian Team.
The 9th Edition of Tour of China (I&II) 2018 is hosted by Chinese Cycling Association, authorized by State General Sports Administration(China), organized by China Olympic Sports Industry Co.Ltd., has left its footprints in five provinces and one municipality in southern China. With Zhong Tianshi, the Olympic champion of track cycling, as the ambassador, it has gained strong support from local governments and Partner Buick.

Viviani races to second consecutive stage win at Giro
(Reuters) – Elia Viviani, of Quick-Step Floors, sealed his second consecutive Giro d’Italia win as the Italian was the fastest in a bunch sprint finish in the third stage on Sunday.

Sam Bennett, of Bora-Hansgrohe, was in the lead with a kilometer to go but Viviani showcased his impressive power once again to close in on the Irishman before the final corner and crossed the finish line first.
Viviani, who won the second stage after a similar comeback on Saturday, finished ahead of Sacha Modolo (Cannondale-Drapac) and Bennett had to settle for third.
Jakub Mareczko (Wilier Triestina-Selle Italia) and Danny van Poppel (Lotto NL – Jumbo) rounded out the top five.

Israel Cycling Academy’s Guillaume Boivin was cheered on by the home crowd as the Canadian, along with Marco Frapporti (Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec) and Enrico Barbin (Bardiani-CSF), led the race from the start.
The trio were swept up by the peloton in the closing stages and finished well behind the top 10 in the last stage to be held in Israel.
Rohan Dennis retains the overall leader’s pink jersey while Barbin retains the blue jersey after he was second-fastest to reach the summit of this stage’s Cat 4 climb.

GIRO100 Stage 12: GAVIRIA MAKES IT THREE
The Colombian rider beat Mareczko and Bennett in Reggio Emilia.
The Colombian rider Fernando Gaviria (Quick-Step Floors) claimed his third stage victory at the Giro100 as he fended off Italy’s Jakub Mareczko (Wilier Triestina – Selle Italia) and Irishman Sam Bennett (Bora – Hansgrohe) in a bunch sprint in Reggio Emilia at the end of today’s 229km stage which included riding on the A1 Panoramica motorway. Dutchman Tom Dumoulin (Team Sunweb) retained the Maglia Rosa for the third consecutive day.
STATISTICS:
This is the 25th Giro d’Italia stage victory for Colombian riders, equalling the total for Dutchmen set by Tom Dumoulin when he won Tuesday’s Sagrantino time trial stage.
Before Fernando Gaviria, two other Colombians have won three stages at the Giro but he’s the first one to make the triple in a single edition. The other two are Lucho Herrera (Tre Cime di Lavaredo and Monte Generoso in 1989, Terminillo in 1992) and Nairo Quintana (Val Martello and Cima Grappa in 2014, Blockhaus in 2017).
It’s the second time that Colombian riders have combined to win four stages in a single Giro after Nairo Quintana (twice), Rigoberto Uran and Julian Arredondo imposed themselves on the 2014 edition. That year, their first win was on stage 12. This year, stage 12 marks the fourth Colombian victory.
FINAL RESULT
1 – Fernando Gaviria (Quick-Step Floors) – 229km in 5h18’55”, average speed 43.083km/h
2 – Jakub Mareczko (Wilier Triestina – Selle Italia) s.t.
3 – Sam Bennett (Bora – Hansgrohe) s.t.
