After the appearance of a smoke trail in the sky on July 19, 1912, a meteorite with an estimated mass of 190 kilograms (419 pounds) exploded over the town of Holbrook, and a shower of stones fell from the sky, estimated to number more than 16,000 and varying in weight from 6.6 kilograms to less than 0.1 grams.

No room for you Wigwam Village 6 was built in 1950 by Chester E Lewis featuring 25 concrete and steel “wigwams” within the complex. After closing in 1974 when Interstate 40 bypassed Route 66 the place was reopened by the Lewis family in the late 80s. John Margolies (American, 1940-2016)
John Samuel Margolies was an architectural critic, photographer, and author who was noted for celebrating vernacular and novelty architecture in the United States, particularly those designed as roadside attractions. For almost forty years, he documented the most remarkable examples he found, publishing some of his discoveries in books and consigning the rest to an archive, which has now been purchased by the Library of Congress who, in a wonderfully gracious move, have lifted all copyright restrictions on the photographs.
