Guys Indraprastha is giving me the feels—
It was transformed from Khandavaprastha, a dry land, to Indraprastha, the equivalent of Amaravati itself on earth.
It was the promised land that the citizens who followed Yudhishthira held on to. They abandoned their homes and their settled lives to follow him, to a dead land.
It was the Pandavas' karmabhumi. It was the city that Krishnaa's Shakti transformed from a barren land to a prosperous city, the capital of their empire.
It was where their children were born and raised.
And it still hurts my heart that they basically abandoned it after the war. I know extenuating circumstances forced them to, but they should have been able to rule from Indraprastha.
Or maybe they couldn't.
Maybe they couldn't step into Indraprastha because it reminded them of the happier years. At least Hastinapura's palaces hold the embittered emotions that fueled their rage to the great war.
Maybe Arjuna walking into Indraprastha with Krishna after the war is suddenly hit with the sweet ringing laughter of his children, or the jasmine tree that grew in Krishnaa's gardens. Maybe his eyes travel over the empty kitchens, remembering how his wives and sisters-in-law would argue over what to make for the family, but his ears ring in the haunting silence. Maybe he stands still in the rain, his salty tears mingling with the fresh rainwater, his eyes riveted to where his boys are chasing each other in the rain.
It reminds him even more of what they sacrificed to win.
Maybe he finally breaks down in Krishna's arms that night, because he sees his baby Abhimanyu in the moonlight, his head tilted as he asks in a childish voice, "Baba, why didn't you save me?"
Hastinapura is full of ghosts, yes, the bitterness of brothers and the jealousy of ghosts; but Indraprastha is even more haunting in its quiescence, because its ghosts are the memories of sweeter years, anklets chiming and young children laughing.

Mentions : cursing ahead. Please refrain from reading if it bothers you. DO NOT BASH ME IF YOU DISAGREE. I am up for all forms of civil conversation on this topic.
Now, let's start.
So, like the useless human I am, I spent my time scrolling through Instagram. And what happens? Post after post praising Karna pops on my feed. See, you can like anyone who you want, I don't give a flying fuck. But, what I hate, is how people just make up some random shit, and then make a reel saying that it is "true" And written Mahabharat.
Now, I don't consider myself an expert or smth, but I have read 3 versions of Mahabharata, in two different languages. I think that I can say that I know some stuff about Mahabharata.
So, despite being PISSED af, I did my research. I saw these reels, scrolled through some comments, and even saw some stuff on Wattpad related to this.
Some of you might say that "if it bothers you then don't see it". Yes. That's what I have been doing. But now I am fucking pissed, and this is how I release my anger.
As always, Karna HAS to be compared to Arjun. How Arjun is such a weakling, that without Krishna he wouldn't win at all. First, if Karna is so good, and Arjun so bad, then why is Krishna supporting Arjun? Surely a god had better judgement skills than we do.
Arjun fought against SHIVA, THE GOD OF THE GODS. THE SUPREME GOD. Yes, Arjun didn't win, and he never stood a chance, but SHIVA was pleased by him, and blessed him. He gave him the Pashupatastra.
Some idiots say that Karna had it too. In a quote someone wrote that Krishna said that Karna was undefeatable as he had Brahmastra and Pashupatastra. Kindly enlighten me as to when did Karna please Shiva, and get this Astra as his blessing.
Then some people say that Shiva blessed Ravan too. Don't you dare. Don't you DARE compare Ravan, the man who ABDUCTED Sita, to Arjun. Arjun was a human, and he had his flaws. He committed mistakes. But he is, in no way, comparable to someone like Ravan.
People are writing stories where Abhimanyu respects Karna and shuns Arjun as a result. ABHIMANYU, WHO CHOSE to enter the Chakravyuha because he wanted to make his father and uncle proud. Abhimanyu, who wanted nothing more than to avenge his father. He hates Arjun in these stories.
Don't get me started on the Draukarn and Karnbhadra fandoms. Don't, please. I don't have the energy left for that. I just wish to say that you are so brave to pair Draupadi with her abuser.
Now. These are the more controversial ones. There are ppl writing stories where Karna is SHIVA'S SON.
Oh wow. Karna is comparable to KARTIKEYA AND GANESH. Speaking of Kartikeya, did you know that Karna is a better warrior than Kartikeya, THE GOD OF WAR?!
And ofc, Karna was a farrr better King than Ram was. And he was a better person too. It isn't like Ram had made a gr8 example of how to run a kingdom, that Ram Rajya has been so revered since centuries. Ofc not. That has nothing to do with this.🤡
Also, Karna had a better claim to the throne than Yudhishthira did! He was Kunti's son, and according to dharma, a wife's son is considered the husbands son too. It doesn't matter how Karna wasn't conceived when Kunti was married to Pandu, or with Pandu's permission. He STILL has a claim to the throne guys. 🙄
Last, but not the least, do you know how Krishna absolutely hated seeing Karna die, even when he was the one who had instigated Arjun to chop off Karna's head? *gasps in shock*
Also, saving the best for the last, but apparently, Krishna couldn't have defeated Karna when he still had his armor and earrings!!!! Gasppp!!!!
Okay. So half of this post is written a sarcastic manner guys, do understand my sarcasm TvT
It's fcking hilarious how Krishna, who whooped the asses of literal demons as a kid, who gave INDRA PTSD and who LIFTED THE FCKIN GOVARDHAN MOUNTAIN ON HIS LITTLE FINGER FOR SEVEN FUCKING DAYS CONTINUOUSLY is weaker than Karna. And this is just 1% of what he has done.
Like cmon. Karna is a gr8 warrior, I won't deny. But he was NOT a good person, and definitely not comparable to the people I mentioned above. Karna was defeated multiple times during the Kurukshetra war. He ran away from many battles as well. If you like him, then gr8. Do so, no one is stopping you. But don't compare him with the likes of Ram and Krishna.
Ohmigawd. This post has gone a bit out of hand. Sorry loves. 😞

Similasis Ep 1
Tumblr media
You knows just wild? How similar different mythologies and religions are to each other. That's why I'm gonna be doing this series, called:
Similasis
Or "Similologies" if you want.
But yeah, I'm just gonna be talking about different mythologies and their interesting similarities. Some may seem like stretches at first, but I feel like that's just part of the fun!
This first, "pilot episode" will be about:
Hinduism and Greek Mythology
So, let's start off with Krishna (Hinduism) and Herakles (Greek Mythology).
They're both "descended", in a sense, from one of the ultimate divinities in their respective pantheons; Krishna is the "avatar" of Vishnu, the Sustainer, while Herakles is one of Zeus' most popular children. They're also both incredibly powerful, with Krishna basically being a God on Earth, and Heraes having incredible strength.
From birth, they were also hunted and hated by a family member; for Krishna, it was his uncle Kansa, because of a Prophecy saying that Kansa would die at the hands of his sister's eight child. For Herakles, he was hunted by his stepmother, Hera, in her attempts to retaliate against Zeus for cheating.
As such, both faced, and defeated, assassination attempts at a young age. The she-demon Putana, sent by Kansa, attempted to breastfeed Krishna with her poisoned milk, but the young Godling bit down hard and simply sucked her dry (power move fr). On the other hand, Hera sent snakes to kill Herakles, which the child strangled with ease.
This isn't shown much in modernity, but both Krishna and Herakles were well-known for their wit and cunning; Krishna would always use his intellect to trick and confuse his adoptive mother Yashoda Ma, while Herakles has used incredible punishment to escape punishment and retribution in the past.
They've both also shown incredible feats of strength. When Vrindavan was being flooded by Indra Dev, Krishna lifted the Mount Govardhan with his little finger, so it acted like an umbrella. Similarly, while completing his Twelve Labours, Herakles held the sky on his back to allow Atlas to get him some apples.
Another major similarly is how similar the Mahabharata (Hinduism) and Trojan War (Greek Mythology) are. Many of the prominent characters share similar aspects, for example Arjuna (Mahabharata) is quite similar to Archilles (Trojan War), as they both refuse to fight (for admittedly different reasons), but eventually, due to a personal loss (Arjuna's son Abhimanyu, Achilles' lover-friend Patroclus), they both join the fray. Both Krishna and Achilles, two of the strongest beings in their wars, are also killed by an arrow to the heel. Achilles is also quite similar to Duryodhan, as they both were given blessings from their mothers (special armour for Achilles, stone body for Duryodhan) that were supposed to protect them from harm, but still didn't fully save them, due to a fatal weak point.
Of course, there are lots of other similarities between them, but for now, I think this is more than enough. Have a great day!
- Smylee
Edit: I almost forgot, both Achilles and Arjuna crossed dressed before. OK now I'm done.

In the Mahabharata, why didn't Sri Krishna save Abhimanyu when he knew already that he was about to be killed?
According to The Sambhava Parva of the Adi Parva, once there was a meeting of the deity in which all deity had to give contribution in establishment of Dharma in Dwapara yuga. In the meeting, it was proposed that Vararach the son of lunar deity soma will take birth as a son of Arjuna and subhadra.
Lunar deity som denied the proposal, he did not want that his son take birth in earth but all other deity convinced him. He agreed but in one condition that his son will return at the age of 16 years. As a result, varacha took birth named Abhimanyu that's why sri krishna didn't saved him. On the 13th day of kurukshetra war, multiple warriors attacked on single Abhimanyu and killed him.
The death of Abhimanyu changed the whole incident of kurukshetra war. Pandavas became more agressive and Arjuna took vow to kill jayadratha and killed him at 14th day of kurukshetra war. When Karna was lifting chariot then sri krishna provoked Arjuna to kill karna by reminding his son Abhimanyu’s death.

For the character headcanons ask: the Kishkindha group: Hanuman, Angada, Tara, Ruma, Sugriva and Vali from the Ramayana. Also, if it's not too much could you also add Bhishma, Subhadra and Abhimanyu from the Mahabharata?
Below the cut
Hanuman
Sexuality Headcanon: Asexual, with a soft spot for the versions where Hanuman accidentally concieves a son with a mermaid in the oceans surrounding Lanka Gender Headcanon: Cis A ship I have with said character: None A BROTP I have with said character: Rama & Hanuman, Sita & Hanuman, Lakshmana & Hanuman A NOTP I have with said character: Anyone really, I kinda picture Hanuman as being devoted to Rama above all else A random headcanon: Hanuman suffers from guilt that he didn't remember his powers in time to save Ruma from Vali, and it's part of what drives his loyalty to Rama and Sita. General Opinion over said character: Love him. Sassy and loyal and awesome. Curious to know more about his relationships with Sugriva and Vali pre-fight, and why he was so loyal to Sugriva.
Angada
Sexuality Headcanon: Bi Gender Headcanon: Cis A ship I have with said character: Lakshmana/Angada A BROTP I have with said character: Rama & Angada, Lakshmana & Angada A NOTP I have with said character: N/A A random headcanon: He is an only child and has no cousins, which makes him very dear to everyone in Kishkinda in his childhood. General Opinion over said character: Love his friendship with Lakshmana, and I'm moved by the fact that Lakshmana named his first son after him. I am intensely curious to know how the politics of Kishkinda affected him growing up -- his father seemingly dying, his uncle assuming the throne, his mother becoming his uncle's wife, his dad reappearing, his uncle being exiled, his aunt being raped by his father, his father dying and his uncle complicit in his death, his mother again his uncle's wife, fighting a war for the sake of the man who was responsible for his father's death.
Tara
Sexuality Headcanon: Bi Gender Headcanon: Cis A ship I have with said character: Tara/Vali, Sugriva/Tara (not OTPs though) A BROTP I have with said character: Tara & Ruma, Tara & Angada A NOTP I have with said character: Tara/Ruma romantically -- I like them better as sisters, allies, or even rivals A random headcanon: She never forgives Rama for his role in her husband's death, despite knowing it was justified, and keeps her distance from him as best she can. When she hears about Sita being exiled mere months after they fought a war for her, she feels bitterly vindicated. General Opinion over said character: Love her inordinately. She's so wise, so much that Vali said on his deathbed pretty much "Listen to Tara, she's always right". She is a survivor and manages to calm Lakshmana down when he was about to wage war. Yet there are also hints of her flaws: her appearing drunk and apparently having a problem with alcohol when she pacifies Lakshmana. In some versions, she curses Rama for his role in Vali's death that in his next life he will be killed by Vali (the hunter shooting Krishna in the heel), and while I don't blame Rama for Vali's death, I do like this anecdote because it makes Tara so human -- much like Gandhari being wise enough to say "May righteousness prevail" rather than blessing her son, but still cursing Krishna out of grief. I also wonder how being passed from husband to husband affected her, and I wonder at her relationship with her sister-in-law Ruma, who was her co-queen and also a victim of her husband.
Ruma
Sexuality Headcanon: Bi Gender Headcanon: Cis A ship I have with said character: Sugriva/Ruma A BROTP I have with said character: Ruma & Tara, Ruma & Angada A NOTP I have with said character: Ruma/Vali A random headcanon: Ruma was infertile and therefore loved Angada all the more, as the only child she would have. She also was disapproved of as a wife to the second prince since she was of low status, and next to Tara, who was highborn and mother to the crown prince, she feels inferior, even as she admires Tara.
(Another headcanon): Unlike her sister-in-law, Ruma admires Rama and is grateful to him for rescuing her. They often clash about it, and when she learns about him exiling his wife, who went through the same thing Ruma did, she is deeply hurt and shocked. General Opinion over said character: Love her, for all that she's barely a presence in the Ramayana and fridged for the plotline. Her rape and abuse is the catalyst of the Rama-Kishkindha alliance, and therefore the war on Lanka, yet we hear so little about her thoughts and feelings. I've written more about it here and elsewhere on my blog, but I really wonder what she thought about Rama throughout the narrative.
Sugriva
Sexuality Headcanon: Straight Gender Headcanon: Cis A ship I have with said character: Sugriva/Ruma A BROTP I have with said character: Rama & Sugriva, Sugriva & Tara A NOTP I have with said character: N/A A random headcanon: He respects Tara immensely and sees her more as an older sister/mentor rather than as his wife, although they marry for political reasons. General Opinion over said character: I appreciate him as a character but seriously side-eye him a lot, especially for not doing more (IMO) to rescue Ruma and dragging his feet on repaying Rama. I do think he was justified in how he got rid of Vali, and resent... well, see Vali below. I'm also really curious what his relationship with Angada was like.
Vali
Sexuality Headcanon: Bi Gender Headcanon: Cis A ship I have with said character: Vali/Tara, Vali/Ravana A BROTP I have with said character: N/A A NOTP I have with said character: Vali/Ruma A random headcanon: Vali has absolutely no fashion sense and relies on his wife and his brother to keep his wardrobe vaguely kingly. General Opinion over said character: I find him interesting in that he was a strong and well-loved king (even the wise Tara loved him very much) but still capable of cruelty and abusing women. I also really, r e a l l y resent the take that his death was murder, or that Rama violated dharma somehow when Vali had raped Ruma and held her hostage. Rama made many mistakes, his killing of Vali was not one of them. Stop using the Agni Pariksha to vilify his every action.
Bhishma
Sexuality Headcanon: Ace Gender Headcanon: Cis A ship I have with said character: N/A A BROTP I have with said character: Bhisma & Ganga, Bhishma & Arjuna A NOTP I have with said character: Bhishma/Amba (really don't like their dynamic as romantic) A random headcanon: The years he spent in his mother's kingdom were the happiest of his life. General Opinion over said character: Find him very interesting as a character, and what he represents about vows and the cost of them.
Subhadra
Sexuality Headcanon: Bi Gender Headcanon: A headache A ship I have with said character: Arjuna/Subhadra, Subhadra/Draupadi A BROTP I have with said character: Subhadra & Krishna & Balarama A NOTP I have with said character: Subhadra/Duryodhana A random headcanon: She is Pariksit's favorite grandmother. General Opinion over said character: My lovely girl, so spunky and full of life, who deserved so much better.
Abhimanyu
Sexuality Headcanon: Straight Gender Headcanon: Cis A ship I have with said character: Abhimanyu/Uttara A BROTP I have with said character: Abhimanyu & Arjuna, Abhimanyu & Draupadi (Draupadi loves all her children and stepchildren, no sauteli ma nonsense here) A NOTP I have with said character: N/A A random headcanon: Uttara knows his father better than he does, having spent a year as his student while Abhi hasn't seen him since he was two, and it's part of what makes them grow closer as husband and wife. General Opinion over said character: Baby boy. My beloved.
