whump ask game
can be answered in first or third person ❣️
For Whumpee:
What emotion do they experience most often?
What do they dream about?
How is their pain tolerance compared to the average person?
What’s their least favorite kind of pain?
Would they rather be hurt or humiliated?
What could they be threatened with that would make them genuinely panic?
How do they feel about caretaker?
How do they feel about whumper as a person?
Do they rationalize their pain at all? How do they cope with it?
If they could go back in time, what would they do differently?
Would they trade places with whumper?
What do they think about while they’re resting/healing?
Who do they trust most?
So, what did they learn?
For Whumper:
What’s their favorite way to hurt whumpee?
Do they think they’re justified? Why?
What’s the furthest they would go?
What would they consider to be too far?
What moments have made them pity whumpee, if any?
Are they squeamish?
What do they like most about whumpee? What do they dislike?
Have they been hurt a lot in their own life? Or have they been relatively privileged?
If they were to trade places with whumpee, would they handle it better or worse?
If they could temporarily feel everything that whumpee was feeling, would their behavior change?
How do they feel about whumpee as a person?
What did they think it would be like before they started? And how does that compare to how its actually been?
How long are they planning on keeping this up?
What would their mother say?
For Caretaker:
What habits have they noticed about whumpee, that whumpee likely isn’t aware of?
Do they know what they’re doing?
What is their end goal with helping whumpee?
How far would they go for whumpee? What would they consider too far?
What advice would they have given to whumpee before they were hurt?
What advice would they have given to their past self?
What’s the worst state they’ve seen whumpee in?
Do they cry a lot?
What would they say to whumper, if given the opportunity?
Do they like whumpee as a person? Why or why not?
Don’t they ever get tired?
What have they noticed really helps whumpee?
What triggers have they noticed whumpee has?
How are they taking care of themself through all this?

Tag Game: Whumpee Writes a List of Needs
Make a post with a list of things your character needs their Caretaker to do (or not do, in terms of triggers to avoid) for them during their recovery - things that it would be difficult for them to say out loud. Could be in-character or just author's description of what they need.
Thanks to @inhurtandincomfort for the tag!!!
This is from my original story Chimeras: I'll make an in-character call between Warrick and Lupita, where he asks her to take care of Elafi for a while. If you'd like to see something like this with another of my characters, let me know!
Hey, uh... I'm calling you because I consider this an emergency.
I'll get straight to the point: my mom fell and broke her hip, and Patrick and I decided to stay with our parents for a while to take care of her. That means Elafi will be left alone, and I can’t let that happen.
Yes, I know he’s old enough to stay on his own and look after himself, but please, we’re talking about Elafi. I don’t think I need to remind you of the list of “incidents” he’s had even under my watch, and I just can’t let something like that happen while I’m away. So... please, could you take care of him for me?
You can stay at the cabin if you want, my room is all yours. Elafi has his own room and he already knows the chores he has to do in the garden and around the house, so you won’t have to worry about that. Trust me, he’s a very diligent kid, you won’t have to keep him entertained so he doesn’t get bored. On the contrary, you’re more likely to get bored of him.
Just make sure he eats on time, drinks water, exercises, brushes his teeth, cleans his hooves, and doesn’t spend all day in bed.
He also likes to wander into the forest. That’s normal, but please don’t let him go too far, or at least do something so you always know where he is. I installed a tracker app on his phone; I can send it to you and…
Are you done laughing? You have no idea how many times that thing has saved us. Yeah, yeah, I know Elafi’s not a dog with a microchip, but please try to understand—unlike you, I can’t just look into a crystal ball and magically know where someone is. Elafi may be smart, but he can be reckless sometimes. I don’t want him to have the bad luck of running into dangerous people… again. Somehow, danger seems to constantly follow him. If it’s not poachers and hunters, it’s psychos, traps, or poisonous berries.
Also, to be honest, even if none of that was happening, I just don’t want him to be alone, okay? I know most of the time he seems cheerful and acts like everything’s fine, but I can tell that deep down he feels lonely, helpless, weak. He won’t say it, but sometimes you can “read” it in his body language. In those moments, you can ask him if he wants a hug—he’ll probably say yes, but always ask first.
He still has nightmares sometimes. If you hear him crying in his sleep, please wake him up. Stay with him for a bit and tell him everything will be alright, I’m sure that’ll help him calm down. You could also make one of those special teas you prepare, I think it could do him good. Don’t ask him what the nightmare was about; they’re usually always the same: his parents dying, being kidnapped... He once told me he dreamed that I died, and he was upset for minutes after that.
If he decides to tell you on his own, that’s fine—just listen. But ideally, try to distract him by talking about something else. Ask him about his stuffed animals and plushies or why the orchid on his shelf is named Aphrodite. He’ll fall back asleep soon. He tends to solve things by sleeping.
As for food, he can cook for himself—he’s actually really good at it. But if you want to teach him a new recipe, I’m sure you’ll catch his interest. Just make sure he doesn’t use the big pot—it’s heavy, and we already had an accident with it a few days ago. Also, if you’re going to prepare one of the chickens from the coop, just... don’t butcher the chicken in front of him. It makes him uncomfortable.
In conclusion, just treat him like a normal teenager. A half-deer, half-magical teenager, but human all the same. I know you understand what I mean when I say: don’t treat him like a little kid, and especially not like a pet or an animal.
Give him space when he needs it, don’t overwhelm him with words or tasks. If he needs you, he’ll come to you.
Lupita, you’re the only person I can trust with this. Elafi is... important to me, and I just want to know he’ll be safe, okay? Alright. See you…
Oh! Before I forget: If you take him to your place, DO NOT let him wander through the town alone, got it? Under no circumstances leave him on his own! With his luck, getting lost would be the best-case scenario.
No, you can’t take him for a ride on your motorcycle either. No, I don’t think there’s such a thing as “antler-adapted helmets.”
Take care of him, okay?
Alright. See you tomorrow. Bye.

NUMBER 9 QUESTION FOR CARETAKER from the Caretaker List from the WHUMP ask game plz
I have plenty of opportunities to talk to Mike, not all the time, but often. But what I’m usually trying to tell him is: “You are loved” “You are brave.” “This isn’t your fault.” “You don’t deserve this.” “She doesn’t own you.” “You are more than what she says you are.” “You are human and deserve to be treated like one.” “What she’s doing to you isn’t ok.” “It’s ok if you aren’t doing well.” “You don’t have to be so strong all the time.” “I’m proud of you.” “I love you.” “You’re doing so well.” And “it’s ok if you need to rest.”
I worry about him so much. I wish I could help more.

Tag Game: Whumpee Writes a List of Needs
Inspired by this post! Make a post with a list of things your character needs their Caretaker to do (or not do, in terms of triggers to avoid) for them during their recovery - things that it would be difficult for them to say out loud. Could be in-character or just author's description of what they need.
-
Thank you for tagging me, @thewhumpcaretaker !!! I'm a bit behind with some stuff I should be posting, this helped me get things going :D.
I didn't track who were tagged and who wasn't. So this is a very much open tag to anyone, even if I don't know you <3333 I promise you can say I tagged you, cause I did. Here, @everyone.
Obviously doing it for Cyrus, of Curse of Withering.
I know it said to do either in-character or as me, but I want to do it as in one of his caretakers sending a list to another carataker 👉👈 hope it is alright. Because this list is very much canon, so I wanted to take the opportunity to use it <333
Since his Caretaker's list is like... really, really long, I took out just the part of their list about his nighttime needs <3
-
TW: dissociation mention.
• Cyrus prefers us to put him to sleep.
• Talk to him about the day while you get him to bed, that helps with his dissociative habits. And when he feels ready to sleep, let him close the door behind you.
• (Don't ever close him in any room, let him close the door, every time.)
• No bad talk during the night! Only happy things. All bad things can wait until tomorrow morning. And if they can't wait, it's your job to protect him from them until the sun rises.
• Leave the window's curtains open so he has some light in the room and can see the outside.
↳ (Extra) We got him a cat lamp! Keep it close to his bed, even if it's not turned on, we notice it helps with his nightmares.
↳ (Extra extra) We got him a star projector light, too! But ask him before turning it on. It's still hard for him to tell us things before we ask, but we noticed he seems to have a hard time sleeping with it on some nights.
• If he asks, let him keep something that plays songs or random sounds. We're trying to encourage him to speak up, so don't offer it, just play it cool and give it promptly when he asks.
• Sometimes, he doesn't want to sleep on the bed. We usually make the floor comfy for him with a harder and thinner matress, or we make a nest for him inside his closet and leave the door semi-open.
• He rarely wakes up at night, but we put a walkie-talkie in his room so he can talk to us. If you're not a light sleeper like me, or if you really don't want to be awoken at night, you can also keep up a nest in his closet so he can hide there and feel safer.
• Sometimes he dissociates close to nighttime, but he goes to sleep on his own even during it. Stay with him until he comes back, don't try to force him back. Once he's in his own world, just let him stay there until he feels safe to come out.
↳ I'm serious about the "staying with him". Don't leave his side, or Gods help you when I know about it. I don't care if you need to sleep. You. Stay. Awake. With. Him.
• If he's still dissociating even when he wakes up, be patient. Don't shower him. Do other things normally until it's nighttime again.
• If he wakes up still dissociating, bring him back with some cold water on his pulses and neck. Be prepared for the panic attack when he's back. Take him away from the water and calm him down, don't let him sleep or slip away again that day, be extra careful with triggers, water, and routine.
• And... that's that. We'll be back in less than a week, I promise. Take good care of him.
