They had gained recognition through a cover of “Land of A Thousand Dances” and their song “Whittier Boulevard.” They were considered among the first Chicano rock bands to hit it big in the United States.

And since this is a beatles blog: “…and The Midniters were regards in the East LA of the 1960’s on a smaller scale, though they sounded (and still sound) more like a big, soul-gospel review group with a hefty dose of salsa.”
