Late afternoon at the balsam fir swamp in Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge.

From top: nodding bur-marigold (Bidens cernua), also sometimes referred to as nodding beggarticks, a clumping, wetlands-loving annual whose flowerheads nod as they mature and get heavier; bushy St. John's wort (Hypericum densiflorum), a gorgeous, densely-packed shrub with vibrant yellow flowers and copper-colored bark; white meadowsweet (Spiraea alba), a rapidly-colonizing shrub whose branching clusters of white flowers are one of summer's most generous gifts; narrow-leaved gentian (Gentiana linearis), a tall, elegant bottle gentian that can only be pollinated by bumblebees strong enough to pry open (or chew through) its closed petals; flat-topped white aster (Doellingeria umbellata), also known as parasol whitetop, a tall, attractive mountain aster with flat, branching clusters of white flowers; and the dainty white flowers of virgin's bower (Clematis virginiana), a vigorous, twining vine that forms beautiful, dense waves of foliage and flowers.

What seem like white petals are actually the bracts with the flowers sprouting up in the center. This capture was underexposed by 1-2/3 stops to keep the bract highlights from burning out.

Villain n°1: Frog Soup

a guy keeps getting beat up by the city's vigilantes for wanting to accomplish his goals, but during a battle it is revealed that the vigilantes' leader is his estranged son. unfortunately, soon after this an ancient evil is awoken, and our "villain" follows the vigilantes on their quest to stop it. during their journey, he runs into his brother, but the brother soon meets his untimely demise, leaving our "villain" imprisoned in a cage by the vigilantes. they bring him along because they have no other choice, but in a surprising twist they get along except for the son, who claims he hates his father. they face many perils, including a valley full of those who were long thought dead, but during their journey the son and his father bond. when they finally reach their destination, the "villain" takes the artefact they have been searching for and goes back to the city to defeat the evil, only to find out it is useless against the beast. he is captured by the evil, but is rescued by his son, who apologises for their earlier arguments. it ends with a group hug and everyone cheering

Villain n°2: Whitetop Wagon

I am the only somewhat competent person in the government. The head of state is literally an ANIMAL. My subordinate is STUPID and constantly mumbles to himself. I had to take things into my own hands after my subordinate messed up and caused the head of state to be abducted by an angry hillbilly. I led an expedition to find the head of state and deal with the situation but my subordinate just decided he didn't like working for me just because i made a comment on his culinary talents, and he dumped furniture on me. Pretty sure he was trying to kill me. So I was like "you wanna fight like an animal? i'll be an animal then" although it was not entirely my plan. Then I got smacked in the face by a window.

Impacto: A utilização da técnica de whitetopping proporcionará maior durabilidade ao pavimento, reduzindo custos de manutenção e melhorando a segurança viária. Ampliação da Capacidade entre Pitanga e Nova Tebas: Detalhes específicos ainda não divulgados. Objetivo: Melhorar o fluxo de veículos e aumentar a segurança na rodovia, atendendo à crescente demanda de tráfego na região. Programas Complementares: Além das obras mencionadas, o Estado lançou novos programas de inspeção de tráfego e serviços de guincho, além de dois programas de conservação rodoviária. Essas iniciativas visam garantir a manutenção adequada das rodovias, proporcionando segurança e conforto aos usuários.
