Echoes of Forgotten Whispers

Within the tender grip of absence, you bloom, A flower of thorns, soft petals draped in gloom. Joy flutters like moths in the dark of despair, Yearning pierced by the silence of your vacant stare. In the mirror of memories, we dance, then we shatter, Betrayal's sweet kiss, a taste that lingers and clatters. Hope, a ghost in the corridors of my heart, Sings sweetly, yet tears me, tearing me apart. Distance, a lover wrapped in the arms of regret, Where laughter once shimmered, now shadows beget. Oh, the irony of intimacy, distant yet near, A heartbeat away, yet the echoes disappear. Each promise, a paradox, whispered low, Carried on winds, where the wildflowers grow. I reach for the stars with hands made of glass, To touch what's eternal, to grasp what won’t last. In this chasm of longing, I find my refrain, Sorrow wrapped in a smile, joy tangled in pain. And as the sun sets on our unspoken night, I linger in twilight, where shadows invite.
