Most kids are still kiddy! So many commentators are just looking at the version of social media! A very small percentage! THE SEPHORA TEN YEAR OLDS ARE A MINORITY IDIOTS YOU JUST WAMT TO HAVE A BOOMER MINDSET!

AS A KID I CAN CONFIRM THAT YES! I PAD KIDS ARE A PROBLEM I WAS KINDA ONE TOO, BUT MAYBE THE KIDS CANT READ IN AMERICA BC KIDS ARE READING MOSTLY FINE?? LIKE I HAVENT HEARD MUCH SO MAYBE ITS JUST YALL?? MAYBE ITS THE BROKEN EDUCATION SYSTEM?? Idk

ALSO THE SEPHORA TEN YEAR OLDS??? MINORITY! TINY PERCENTAGE! ITS A COUPLE KIDS ON TIKTOK GEN ALPHA ISNT DOOMED! KIDS HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO LOOK OLDER! Yes kids are more ‘adult’ now but it’s happening at a small pace and not at the rate social media thinks it is. In my class? Most girlies are normal. We play games and chat and laugh and do ‘age appropriate skincare’. MAYBE INSTEAD OF THESE SOCIAL MEDIA WANNABE BOOMERS GOING OFF ON CHILDREN, THEY SHOULD ASK CHILDREN??? BC MOST KIDS I SEE JUST WANNA BE KIDS???

People just want to trash on kids (especially girls) for having interests. I could go on a whole other rant about how gen alpha slang is considered the end of all things (it’s not language evolves I promise) but yeah. It’s not that bad. I promise.

I am, in fact, actively worried for these children and I refuse to hate them for the ways that society, as a whole, has failed them.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! 🎄🎅☃️ . Santa Claus wound up bringing great presents for my nieces, so I told them how fortunate they were and that I never received good presents as a kid. Santa was very poor at the time, and all I got one year was a lump of COAL!! The 10 year old was AMAZED by this revelation, so I followed up with how he once brought me a bicycle, but couldn't afford to gift the wheels!!! Ten years for some may not seem significant, but for others that’s almost their entire life. At the end of every year we tend to look to the past with nostalgia and to the future with anxiety and hope.

But this isn’t the end of any other year, this is the end of the decade. A chapter of everyone’s lives is coming to a close and in its ashes rises new possibilities.

When we entered the decade, things were completely different. This was a time when people were putting feather extensions in their hair, when pattered leggings were considered ‘fashionable’, and when it was all the rage to own multiple pairs of shutter shades.

Looking back at any period of time makes it obvious just how fast and how much things can change. Of course, these trends seem ridiculous to look back on, but there will without a doubt be trends from 2019 that we’ll look back on in subsequent years with an equal amount of distaste.

One thing that I believe unifies everyone at the start of a new year, and in this case, the start of a new decade, is the music from the past. The music that was playing on the radio in 2010 may not have been everyone’s favourite, but it’s hard to admit it doesn’t bring a sense of happiness or joy when it’s played. Whether you have memories of listening to Lady Gaga’s ‘Alejandro’ in the backseat of your moms car as an eleven year old, or being twenty-one and hearing ‘Break Your Heart’ in a club for the first time, it’s hard to make an argument strong enough to dismiss the cultural impact music has to all of us.

As someone who has grown into themselves in the 2010’s, it’s hard not to see how important the popular music of the time was. In a strange way, it almost feels as though the children who grew up in this decade also grew up with the musicians of our time. Taylor Swift had first come onto the scene in 2010, and when we were all just nine / ten / eleven years old she was making country-pop music, but throughout the years we have seen her evolve and change into a different artist. Lady Gaga, an iconic artist of the decade, was always seen as ‘whacky’ by our parents, but she was always someone that my friends and I would sneakily listen to on our iPods without them knowing. Katy Perry, another artist who absolutely dominated the charts during the past ten years provided many adolescence with songs that became the anthem to their lives.

The list continues on and on, but without a doubt the music, no matter how good or bad, shaped a generation of children and now young adults.

It’s interesting just how much pop culture influences our generation, because listening to these songs bring me back to the good times in my life, where everything was simple and I had no care in the world.

Nothing really mattered, and the most important question on your mind was whether or not I’d be able to catch the newest episode of Wizards of Waverley place on television.

When you’re a kid, all you want to do is become an adult, but when you finally become one you start wishing you could go back in time and relive it. Thankfully though, because of the music you grew up with, you’re able to get taken back to that carefree place, if only for a moment.

The Bald Overlord

On the planet Estemma there sat an evil overload at the peak of a skull shaped mountain, who hailed red lighting which he hurled at his leisure. In this world everyone runs on c-energy, confidence energy, it glows a crystal blue and serves as a crucial life force for the innocent, but once he showed up, everyone’s c-energy began dissipating. Each of his ten fingers had the power to torment your sense of assurance and your self-worth and slowly, that crystal blue life force seeps through your eyes and becomes encased in a diamond shaped vile which the evil overlord collected.

The overlord is cloaked in a grey shadow which acts as his impenetrable shield, his head covered by an intricate helmet that only covered his face up until his forehead. His exposed head, hairless and uncovered, emitted a shimmering dark light and forms a pitch black halo. It was this shimmer that I attached a sense of evil to, it wasn’t a light that guides you towards salvation, but one which terrifies the hopes and dreams of a young child. I felt the dissipating life force within me, a graduate frailness began surfacing as the thought of him made me tremble before each encounter. I swore to myself an oath, that I will confront him for the sake of myself, reclaiming full ownership of the life force he took from me.

I made my way up the skull mountain, trespassing the swamps of the lost and the forest of the dreamless. There he sat on his throne with an aura of invincibility reinforced by the shroud of shadow which surrounded him. I took what could be my last breath and yelled “You stand up, I’m not afraid of you, not anymore!” His armour-plated legs rattled as he moved towards me, echoes of lightening filled the atmosphere and I became blinded by the red hues. before i knew it, he was right in front of me. Droplets of panic made their way down my forehead, the overlord raised his hand and placed his palm so it perfectly covered my head. He patted me.

“How’s it been my nephew, it’s been a while hasn’t it! Oh look at you, still this chubby eyyy hahaha. Now now, no girls’ll like a chubby guy like you, you’ll have to lose it some day or another, I’m sure of that.”

This overlord was the ultimate opposing force to my existence when I was a kid, he was my teasing, bald uncle. I was terrified of him, all he would do was call me fat and embarrassed me each time I stumbled. It was never teddy bears and marshmallows from him, always pins and needles to my back.
