Of course, you were more focused on making sure Wukong and Mk were ok because of the chaos from all the concent life-threatening world crisis so of course you were more focused on your son and husband. Meanwhile Macaque made sure to behave himself unless he wants another brain damaging beat down.

(HIB Wukong) Luier and Silly girl knew their was something different about you, from the very beginning. It was pigsy and Wukong who were utterly shell-shocked by your gifts and abilities, especially when you do it all with a smile. Luier and Silly girl were your main Priority especially with what was going on with Hun Dun evil plans and you were worried about your kids. Wukong was especially surprised about your own secret demon form and joined him on taking Hun Dun and his army down, and Rescue the children. Wukong was definitely attracted to your strength fued by the love you have for him, Luier and Silly girl. And I guess you care about Pigsy too😒😒😒

(NR Wukong) Wukong and admittedly Li would be up in your business like They're both equally obsessed about learning your secrets and Origins to your gifts and abilities. It would have Creep you out if it wasn't your son and husband. Your future daughter in law Su wasn't any better either, after seeing what happened in the final battle She had a whole list of her own questions for you. Li was mildly afraid of you and your mystery especially knowing that you even have some connection to his previous recarnation Nezha. Wukong was more so the Betrayed then afraid because he married you, but it seems he doesn't know anything really about you. Although you never took it to heart only opting to kiss him he still felt disappointed in him, and turned on by your power.

(MKR Wukong) His mind was genuinely blown with by demon form, and He had no clue that you could control the weather in that form. Wukong was very prideful of you more so then now knowing that you're just if not more powerful than he is. He has never been more in love with you, and he will now never stop being in love, especially when you saved fruity from being sacrificed. The monk and the pilgrims had a newfound Fear and respect of you and now knew never to cross you especially When it has something to do with your husband. Your powers also got the attention from heaven, And the second buddha and the jade emperor found out that you were the monkey king's wife. The two had a stroke so bad they both had to be bedridden for centuries on end and heaven would be in more chaos if you both plan to start a family.

(Netflix Wukong) Lin and Dragon king had looks of bewilderment and shock as you continued to kiss Wukong's face over and over. Lin knew you for quite a long time, but she had never known you had abilities and powers like this. Wukong is still a bit afraid of you after beating the stuffing out a buddha and all the celestials like that but soon he started to see you in a different light. Wukong started going on dates with you with Lin's advice of course, and with the time of being together he grew more attracted to you and began to show off and try to impress you but he should know that he had your heart from the start and is just waiting for him to pop the question.

(BMW Wukong) He'll hath no fury like a woman's scorn vibes is what he always gets from you. Considering you are a surprisely powerful you are, but luckily for you he is very into it. When the celestial realm somehow heard of the immortal monkey in red and actively shat themselves, everybody saw how you had effortlessly beat Erlang like he was a glorified Piñata. Everyone in the celestial realm were terrified of the idea of the idea of Wukong having a just as powerful wife so, They had tried various ways to break you guys up or turn you against each other. Which maybe would have worked Except Wukong is just as obsessed with you as you are of him and would woo you back to him in no time. This is worse than anything anybody could hope, Well anybody in heaven that is.

(Destined one) If your pucca, then he is most definitely garu, as he is as silent as a mouse. Zhu Bahje was lost for words when he saw the destined one come back with a smiling monkey girl. At first, he was happy that the destined got a new girlfriend. Until he saw what you could do on and off the battlefield, he didn't know whether to be impressed or terrified of your abilities. Not to mention when Erlang came to harass the Destined one (omg just like Tobe🫨) then you stepped in taking his staff and gave Erlang an PTSD worthy ass whooping. It was so bad I'm pretty sure the other 2 realms can hear his screams of agony and fear as you ripped his eye out of his head. The Destined one was able to calm you down with a kiss and you went back to Smothering him to death, it was at that day Zhu Bajie Learned never to mess with the destined one too much Unless he wants to have what Erlang's having.

+ he would definitely go to the women in the gang (and you of course, but he'll be more shy about it) to ask them questions. "is this what you ladies like?" before he gives his daughter a gift.

+ he'll document basically her entire life in his journal; write entries about her biggest moments and their times together, and he'll draw her all the time. there will be pages that are just covered in drawings of you and your daughter.

+ the other gang members would tease arthur for being "so soft" around his daughter and he probably gets real flustered about it, but you think it's adorable how gentle he is with her.

+ she will make flower crowns or put flowers in arthur's hair and a lot of the time he'll forget about it, so he'll walk around camp or even go out riding with a braid and flowers in his hair.

+ of course, your daughter would have some kind of knowledge as to what the gang does, but arthur will still try to hide violence from her. he'll make up silly excuses as to how he gets cuts or bruises, and he tends to hide his guns when around her. hell, he won't even really smoke when in her presence.

+ arthur is very accepting, and that especially applies to your daughter. if she wants to travel the world, he'd support it. if she said she wanted to be a dinosaur, he'd try his best to help her achieve that. the only thing he would say no to is being a gunslinger.

+ arthur's daughter would be a girl constantly surrounded by love. i can imagine her being artistic and creative like her dad, with the ability to get along well with anyone she meets. she would also be very expressive and bold, feeling that she can be whatever she wants.

+ crafts dolls and other toys for her!!

+ he'll take your daughter out on nature rides or walks and will teach her all about animals and their importance. especially when she's a baby; he just finds it comforting to have a little friend he can talk to, even if she doesn't respond.

+ charles would be SO protective of his daughter. he would definitely teach her important rules of survival and how to handle weapons because he believes she can take care of herself, but he also can't help but step in immediately when the smallest altercations happen.

+ he also knows how cruel the world can be, and he doesn't want his daughter experiencing any of that. he likes to keep everything pg around her; if micah or someone is being inappropriate around her, charles will get upset quickly.

+ you can learn a lot from children, and charles is well aware of that. he's such an attentive listener when your daughter speaks to him, and will act like everything she says is revolutionary. he'll bring up a fact you've never heard of in a conversation with you, and when you ask him where he learned that from, he'll nudge his head towards your daughter.

+ i think charles' daughter would be a mini version of him, minus his use of violence lol. she would be quiet and only open up to those shes comfortable with, and would be very passionate about those she loves and the things she cares about.

+ he's so bad at playing pretend, but he tries his hardest and you think it's so funny. if arthur catches him playing dolls with your daughter, he'll definitely tease him about it later. "dad, use your girl voice!"

+ a daughter raised by john marston would probably be rather shy, but also very kind, patient, and understanding. she might also take on some of her dad's sarcasm.

+ he would spoil his baby girl ROTTEN. he just can't seem to ever say no to her and will end up going into town himself to get a new stuffed animal for the kid the moment she asks for one.

+ dutch would definitely boast about how smart his daughter is. he would teach her to read and write as soon as possible and would feel so proud when she tells him about the things she read or wrote about. "she gets it from me, of course."

+ dutch's daughter would definitely be one to have a rebellious phase. i think he would tend to insist that she stays at camp because it's safest, but he would raise a girl that's curious about what the country is like outside of her tent. there would be many instances where dutch will send someone out—or himself to go find her after she steals a horse and runs off somewhere.

+ i feel like he would want to name his daughter something like...antique, or based off of some character from literature. things like ophelia, elizabeth, athena, victoria...

+ he would so have a nickname for her that would stick with her for the rest of her life. something cute like dew drop or honey bee; and sometimes even the other gang members would call her by that nickname.

+ with the way hosea sits and listens to the women in the camp, he would do the same with your daughter. although he can be a stern parent when needed, he'll always listen to her before doing anything else.

During the talk with Phir Sē, it comes up that he has a daughter when he tells Taylor about how keenly aware he is of what he could be sacrificing to kill Behemoth.

And it's very odd to me that she's a hero, when her father is one of the men so monstrous that he's used as evidence for why the PRT should stick around. It's almost like the stereotypical superhero show plot where the plucky protagonist hero learns their dad is Doctor Evilman or whatever, but this is Worm. Later in the conversation Phir Sē reveals that he sacrificed family before in a similar scenario

And I can't help but feel that him sacrificing his wife and sons is connected to his daughter being a hero? Like imagine being her, and seeing your dad refuse to save the rest of your family because of the greater good. He could effortlessly step backwards in time but he stands there while their corpses cool instead. That could definitely crack a rift between them and cause his daughter to join the heroes in a desperate attempt to prove that you can save everyone. Hell, I could even see her dad letting her family die being a trigger event. And she's specifically one of the bright and popular heroes, one of the campy flashy ones like Mouse Protector. How much of that is because she can't bear to let herself be anything less than the ideal of a hero, because she can't stomach the thought of being someone who has to make a sacrifice like her father? Phir Sē says he'll live the rest of his life down in his bunker mourning her if he fails, but I think he's already been doing that. He's been consumed by the guilt of who he left in the past and how that ruined his only tie left, and he wants to do something that justifies his existence. If he kills Behemoth, the world celebrates, people are saved, and maybe his daughter will talk to him again. If not, he keeps living as he always has, alone and crippled by the weight of his actions.

I wonder how he felt, in his last moments. The bomb didn't kill the Endbringer, and Behemoth hunted down his bunker and killed him. He had to have seen that it survived, and while maybe he didn't fail so hard he vaporized the country, he didn't redeem himself, he didn't save anyone. He'll never know that his actions weakened Behemoth enough for Scion to finish the job, from his perspective he lost. I wonder if his daughter survived, and if she knows what he did to tip the scales of the battle. Would she even mourn him, assuming he caused her trigger and she knows he let her family die?

He liked Weaver because she reminded him of himself with her ruthless pragmatism and ability to make the hard choices, while also reminding him of his daughter with her idealistic nature. I think he saw a version of himself in her, one that didn't end up isolated in a bunker with no family left. One that has hope and still kept the humanity he feels he lost. She talks to him about working together with others, communicating, and he doesn't think it's something that's possible, he thinks humanity is a "wretched, petty species" and that infighting and lack of coordination would prevail even against an Endbringer. And I think he's right in thinking Taylor is like a younger version of him, because that's exactly what happens during Gold Morning until she makes them work together. He would feel vindicated, seeing Khepri.

Honestly I really wish he survived, he's such an interesting character and I would love to see more of him beyond a single random Tohu face. Most of this is headcanon but like, I think it fits pretty well, so who knows maybe it's the intended subtext.

I don't want another warrior training like we've already had in the former books, but aside from training her Seer abilities, I can also see Elain having some basic and necessary training both for self-defence and to become a spy disguised as an emissary of the NC (because she can definitely be both at the same time). And I definitely see Nuala and Cerridwen + Az, and maybe even her sisters, teaching her a thing or two about how to properly wield a knife outside the kitchen - on her own terms and choice ofc.

Feyre was the bow and arrow, Nesta is the sword, and Elain is definitely the "knife in the dark" (just like Azriel).

I can totally see her carrying a knife/dagger as her weapon of choice under all her beautiful dresses like...

I don't think Elain, nor any other female character (especially in the Maasverse tbh) will lose her "soft femininity" just because she learns how to wield a blade. I think what they choose to do with that blade is what makes the difference.

None of them likes violence itself (except for probably mostly the Illyrians), but they sometimes have to resort to it because they need to. Knowing how to handle a blade doesn't necessarily mean it's for violence or to kill - but to defend, protect and save lives just like she did with Nessian vs Hybern.

She may have some lingering trauma from that incident to process, but I think Elain will see that having a dagger around at times is actually useful and easy enough to hide - and the perfect weapon of spies.

Maybe not even just for self-defence but for random pruning, carving, and slicing things in her garden and kitchen lol... It can be subtle and unexpected, but useful and sharp enough when needed - just like her.

No matter what happens to Truth-teller after HOFAS, I still think daggers and knives will come to play for both Az and Elain.

Maybe he'll even gift her a secret, lovely dagger of her own next Solstice... 😏

I can see so many possibilities and potentials for Elain.

She has repeatedly shown the will of becoming more useful and not like how she herself realised and admitted to being like in the first book (because character development, duh). And since she's starting to "show some claws" I think she'll also want to learn how to really fend for herself and not always have to rely on others, especially not Az (not after that Solstice incident) nor her sisters to always come and save her.

She likes domestic things and is the only one among her sisters who is actually good and useful at it, she's a Cauldron-blessed Seer (and now likely also Koschei's next target), but she also has hinted unexplored potential for something besides all that - the stealth, shadows, and secret-keeping = spywork.

She's the perfect housewife-spy like those in WW2 that SJM herself referred to.

Introverts like Elain are always underestimated observers and always so easily dismissed as boring just because their mouths aren't as open as their minds.

Elain knows how to surprise and I think she definitely will again in her book.

Especially with something sharp at your throat the next time you call her boring and useless.

Otherwise, Fina is still convinced that Jaime is looking to harm her through Isidro's treatment. Oh, Fina, if only you knew that he has other things to think about... The problem is that by telling Marta, Isidro and Carmen that she doubts the sincerity of Jaime's professional attitude, she could be losing the support or at least the patience of her support system, especially Marta.

At the moment, Marta is doing what's in her best interest, while still trying to help Fina and her dad as much as she can, but she's got lots on her plate and from the preview for Monday, her damage control abilities are tested.

I'm not going to lie, it hurt when Marta said that they could no longer kiss again like they did on Monday's episode... It was the best course of action, for now at least, and they both agreed, relunctantly but they both know it is in everyone's best interest, rationally speaking.

Talking about the preview, it seems to me that it's now inevitable for Jaime to come clean about his tumour and that will be a turning point, not necessarily in Mafin's favour I'm afraid. It'll probably add a layer of guilt to an already very stressed out Marta. I hope that Fina reacts positively once she learns about this because if she keeps pressing on about Jaime, especially to Marta, that will definitely put distance between them... Ahhh... I don't see how we can avoid a long stretch of painful distance between Marta and Fina for at least a few weeks...

Regarding Fina wanting to leave, I don't think she'll do it because:

I feel like overall he would find it to be cool and will ask you about your abilities just to learn more about you. However, he won't be needing your powers anytime soon (just more simple online help would be enough)

He will only ask for your help in the most basics of tasks like turning on or off the lights or putting his phone on "do not disturb"

Despite his lazier attitude, he's pretty alert. He knows for example if you're going to use your ability when doing homework (will ask you randomly) and he learns how you are able to manipulate electronics without asking you a lot of questions

I feel like Leona would've liked you for who you were whether or not he knew about your abilities, but nonetheless he does find it to be a pretty cool (and useful) one

He really likes your abilities and will ask you to help him create some kind of digital ordering app or reservation platform for his lounge hahaha

However he does also like learning from you about your abilities and perhaps about electronics in general (you might have a lot of knowledge on them just because you use them so often). He's still not the best when it comes to online platforms, so you can definitely help him there

He finds your ability to be fascinating! While he himself won't be needing as much help as perhaps some others, he does appreciate the little help you give him when running the lounge's digital side

Will ask you how your ability came to be since it's really new to him. He likes learning about others anyways, so it's a nice thing for him to hear about!

Though he may find your ability to be super useful, he still feels bad when asking for your help. He'll show you a lot of gratitude whenever you do end up helping him with something, perhaps in the form of a really expensive perfume haha

OKAY! so this is more stargate atlantis + me playing fast and loose with animorphs canon, and an excuse to do a character study of john sheppard, because i love him.

this is part one, part two is here!

so in this au, long before john sheppard ever saw atlantis or the stargate, he knew that life existed beyond the stars. because john used to be tobias. for anyone more familiar with stargate than animorphs, tobias was trapped in the form of a redtail hawk, permanently, though he later regained the ability to morph into other forms, including his human self. in this au, the yeerk-human war was never revealed to the general populace, and everything was as hushed up as it could be. however, the us governement did not like the idea of someone with the morphing power they could not control, and therefore, shortly after the yeerks were defeated, tobias was forced by the us govt (and honestly as i type this i think maybe the rest of the living animorphs were involved bc they don't want tobias to have a lifespan of like 3 years as a hawk) to become a nothlit once more and trap himself in human form. he's placed by the government with a military family, and given a new name, since tobias at this point has been declared legally dead.

john sheppard grows up quiet and a little too intense for his peers who he is, a little too grown up (he is sixteen when the war ends but his human body was thirteen forever until it became his again). it takes him time to make his face emote like everyone else, to learn how to be charming to mask that hole inside him that longs to fly. (he never really kicks the prey drive - though catching darts out of the air does make for a fun party trick)

so he joins the air force. closest he'll get to flying again, there'll be no ellemist-ex-machina, but maybe he'll be able to capture a sliver of the life he lost. and john sheppard gets to see the stars, by a random, biological chance, and he can't help but wonder if it's not so random. if maybe his ATA is influenced by elfangor, by the eskafil device, by ellemist meddling - so much of his life has been touched by the unknown.

so john gets to atlantis like in canon, and quickly realizes that he is the only person in atlantis with clearance regarding the yeerk invasion. most of the early episodes go pretty much the same plot-wise, up until the genii invasion of atlantis. john going full guerrilla warfare/hawk mode is somehow more intense than in canon, and i think it definitely gets focus from his team. rodney, however, has been lowkey weirded out by some of john's behaviors since the start of the mission, having caught several of john's blank no-one-is-looking hawk expressions and has just been keeping a running tally of weird shit john does since, and this is just one more freaky fucking thing on john's tally.

nothing super comes of it though, and on the mission to chaya sar's planet, things end up changing for john quite a bit. this is where the au really kicks off, as chaya sar can sense something is different about john, and when he meets with her alone and she tells him she cannot intervene, she tells him that there is one thing she can do, just for him. it turns out that the ellemist is a rogue ancient who fucking loves meddling (told u we're fast and loose w/ animorphs canon) and because she would technically just be undoing some of that meddling, she can give john back his red-tailed hawk form, and only that, without a time limit.

so now john can literally fly again, and that changes things.

First off, I imagine Miguel and Y/N knowing each other from a young age

Either from elementary school, or through their parents.

For now I'll go with the elementary school option,

So the two of you definitely know each other since a long while, sticking around through both the good and the bad times.

I also see Y/N as a bit of a nosy friend, especially so since Miguel tends to keep most things to himself (or everything given the chance.)

Anyway, I'm going to skip most of their childhood  because it isn't as interesting as after he's bitten.

Miguel would definitely try to keep a distance from Y/N after he's found out about his powers, especially since he doesn't entirely know how to deal with the consequences of his new abilities.

And of course Y/N would eventually just break his shell, and demand answers.

Que Miguel just showing them and Y/N being completely speechless for a bit, before going 'What're you going to do now?'.

Eventually, you become his person in the chair before Lyla is even created.

(Speaking of Lyla, you might be the one to create her. Creating her as a practical best friend first and a 'business AI' second.)

Because plot twist you're not just good with computers, you're also great at designing stuff (aka most of spider society, and the biggest part of the Gizmo)

You're there from the start, from before the spider society grew big, and before he made the grave mistake of living in a universe he didn't belong to.

You warned him, you really did, but he wouldn't listen to you.

You're also the person he falls back on for comfort when he destroys Gabriella and the universe she's from.

He tells you all about his guilt, and how it should absolutely never happen again.

After that he's more of a ghost of the person you're used to.

Yet you never leave him.

He's your best friend after all.

You help him heal.

You're the person who cares for him when he can't seem to care for himself.

And you're also the only person he turns to outside of being spiderman.

The only person who could get him out of his lab for a few hours to go to the movie theatre because something came out you really wanted to see.

Because he feels like he's responsible for killing the other you as well, a variant of the person he loves so much.

He feels guilty for crying in your arms as well.

Especially because he knows that if you were to know the truth, you'd probably forgive him, and tell him that he at least learned from this.

He'd also definitely be overprotective of you afterwards.

Often trying to keep you close to him for no apparent reason.

Also because he loves your presence.

But also because he's scared something might happen to you when you're outside of the society, or while he's in another universe whilst you're here.

I tried to research this to the best of my ability, so I hope I did these headcanons justice. Inuyasha

To be honest, I feel he wouldn't understand at all what that means at first.

But he's willing to learn and listen to you. (Still doesn't understand it all...especially doctor jargon)

And you think he isn't listening to you at some point, and then he surprises you by remembering and saying something that you had told him.

His personality is quite brash, so I feel like he's one that seems very strong on the forefront, but secretly studies as much as he can to help you and make you more comfortable.

I definitely think he tries to keep you comfortable. Puts a blanket over you and pats it or rubs your arms and hands if you're cold, or takes it off. Secretly pays very close attention to your cues and body language. Makes sure you have lots of water and adequate rest.

And I feel like he'd go to every appointment with you, arms crossed and face a bit unreadable beneath his baseball cap.

You might catch him crying secretly at night sometimes, but it's only because he loves and cares about you so much, darling. (Bh-huh!? Inuyasha!? Nahhhh >.> You didn't hear that from me!)

And if you need more severe treatments such as blood transfusions, bone marrow, etc, I feel he definitely has them check if he's a match for you first.

He's so loyal. If you're hospitalized or just going to doctors a lot, no matter what it is, he's always by your side.

And be sure to let him know if you're tired or anything! I'm sure he will give you as many piggybacks and let you rest as much as you need while he also keeps careful watch and rests with you.

Overall, he's the best S/O and caretaker he can be to you. I think he might only argue with you if you argued with him over the prices of treatments. Because it's your life and that doesn't matter if you feel better. He'll find a way.

Sango

She's such a sweetie. Even if you identify as a male or whatever you prefer, I feel she always brings you flowers and tries to make you smile in some way.

Works hard to also make sure you are comfortable and your needs are always taken care of.

Research to the end of the world to try to understand you and your condition better.

Like Inuyasha, she is always by your side, especially at appointments and checkups.

If you have to undergo any surgeries or transfusions, she makes sure she's the first person you see besides the doctors.

Is good about reminding you and keeping you on track with your schedule and appointments, medicines, but also dates! Also definitely tries to help you with preventatives to keep you healthy.

I feel her favorite thing is to go out with you to cafes on days you feel well enough to.

Tries to help doctors find you a match for transfusions or marrow if you need it.

She wants to be with you every step of the way. No matter how difficult or easy your path may be.

Sensitive but strong herself, I feel like the two of you can have heart-to-heart talks and rest in each other's arms when it's too stressful. She'll either listen or cry with you.

Just know she's always there and is always fighting beside you.

Miroku

This guy, ahahaha. But no. I feel he adds a bit to your stress since he's a womanizer sometimes...but just know, he's all yours and his heart will always be yours. He looks, but definitely WON'T touch.

I feel he's always trying to make you smile and laugh.

Definitely uses those flirty antics of his to try.

May convince you to have his child...ONLY IF YOU WANT TO.

If this happens, and it possibly causes your pain or anything to be more severe, I really think he feels guilty though.

Definitely seeks care for you and the baby always.

And if you decide not to, that's fine too!

He may seem a bit aloof sometimes, but he really is very serious about you.

I think his aloofness is caused by him being deep in thought about how he can better help and care for you quite honestly. Or if he can try to understand you better.

I feel he's the one to ask the doctors questions and try to help you figure things out better too.

He may miss one or two appointments every now and then, but he'll show up late...with some flowers and maybe your favorite snack in hand or stuffed animal too! (He took too long picking them out honestly.)

Jotaro has known you for two decades and had been married to you for one which made him fairly confident that he already knew everything there is to know about you... but it seems he's not the only one hiding something in this family.

I lost the request, but it was something along the lines of Jolyne's mom having a stand and who was shy but protective of Jotaro and Jolyne CW: Spoilers for Stone Ocean The Visitor Arc Word Count: 2.5k

The year is 2002, Jolyne's 10th birthday and though it was unfortunate that her father had more pressing matters to attend to, you still did your best to make this day as enjoyable as it could possibly be for your only daughter. Hearing the muffled voice of your daughter playing with her friends in your backyard, you allow yourself to get lost in your own thoughts.

Jotaro, your husband, had never been one to show his affection, only when in the privacy of your shared room does your husband ever allow himself to lower his walls and show you a more vulnerable side to him, after years, however, you're still able to tell that he has yet to open up to you completely—and that's alright, you keep telling yourself.

He'll open up to you.... eventually. Though, even you, yourself, is starting to doubt that.

Slipping your hand through your pants' pocket, you retrieve the pendant that Jotaro had placed in your palms the night before he left. However, you accidentally pricked yourself in the said pendant. A loud hiss escapes your lips as you pull your hand back, feeling the warm liquid already trickling from your wound, and without glancing at it, you immediately press your finger against your shirt.

Much to your surprise, however, as you pull your finger back from your still clean shirt—not a wound can be found on your finger when you definitely felt... no, perhaps, you were just being dramatic? Scrunching your brows in confusion, you examine your finger more thoroughly, only to find nothing.

That was bizarre.. It was like... the wound healed itself.

You let out an exhale to calm yourself, remembering Jotaro's worried gaze from last night, a slight frown pulling the edges of his lips downward as he voices out his concerns.

"I'm not as around as much as I want to be," He reminds you, pulling you close into his arms. "You seem tired. Take care of yourself,"

Maybe it's just your exhaustion catching up to you after having to work full-time all while taking care of your 10-year-old on your own because your husband is usually away. Deciding to just chalk it up to exhaustion, you shrugged the event off to admire the pendant that is still in your hand. With a smile, you opened it to be greeted by the sight of a weird-looking stone and a picture of you and Jotaro.

"If Jolyne ever finds herself in serious trouble, give this to her," Your husband told you, both hands encasing yours as you hold onto the pendant in your palm. You wanted to ask more about it, but Jotaro's eyes were borderline pleading, and you had a feeling he won't tell you anyway.

You sigh as you close the pendant once again before sliding it back into your pockets, turning your body to head towards Jolyne's group of friends, completely unaware of what you have just gotten yourself into.

The year is now 2012. Jolyne is now 19, and you've had this... weird.... ability with you for almost a decade now. You no longer have a husband, with you and Jotaro divorcing each other years ago—a mutual decision, the two of you growing further and further apart the more time Jotaro spends abroad and the more time you spent learning more about your ability.

You dared not utter a word of this to anyone, even to the man himself, Jotaro. When you tried to ask about the sharp rock in Jolyne's pendant, he simply responded that it was something his grandfather gave him when he was young, something that brought him courage when he was feeling hopeless—a lucky charm, if you will—and he hopes that it would be something that will give Jolyne courage in her times of trouble as well.

There were times when you thought of telling him about this weird ghost-being that you've been seeing around for years, and one that you can command as well. But you never did, for some reason. Maybe because as the years went by, the man you once saw as your husband ended up being just an acquaintance that happens to sleep in the same bed as you once or twice a month.

When Jolyne got arrested, you thought twice about whether you should give her the pendant or not. But being reminded of your promise to Jotaro all those years ago, you ended up giving it to her lawyer for her to receive. You already broke one of your promises to Jotaro, you shouldn't break this one too.

A good decision on your part, as the pendant was the first thing Jotaro had asked as soon as the two of you caught sight of your daughter entering the visitation room.

Jotaro, on the other hand, had not expected to see you here. He always knew you were a great mother to Jolyne, and he has no regrets that he has chosen you to be the mother of his child, so he shouldn't be surprised about your appearance here... but still, the reason why he divorced you in the first place was because you're too good, he didn't want you to be involved in this stand business in any way possible, not if he could help it.

But, as always, he doesn't have a choice, does he?

You were bound to know about this one way or another, and it saves him time that he only has to explain this once to his girls, so the situation still has a silver lining somehow.

As he explains the situation to Jolyne, and by extension, to you, he can't help but feel uneasy as you quietly listen to his words. You always were a bit on the shy side, never wanting to cut him off when he tells you something, but the fact that he's practically laying all this information that he never told you before and you're barely even reacting makes him uncomfortable. You never once dared to look in his eyes, that was until he asked Jolyne whether she gained an ability yet.

It wasn't surprising for him as he kept his abilities from you for a decade, even though he knew you don't see Star Platinum anyways, he still ended up not using his stand when around you. He kept telling himself it was to protect you from such a harsh side of the world, but in reality, it was because he didn't want to be a stand user when he was with you. He wanted to just be a normal person, wanted to just be Jotaro.

The only thing he wanted to worry about was what he wanted to have for dinner, instead of worrying about stand arrows ending up in the wrong hands. He wanted to do laundry with you, do the dishes, and maybe teach Jolyne how to read and write—such mundane things he longed to have but was immediately stolen from him the moment he turned seventeen.

"That's the Stand ability," Jotaro spoke, already quite dreading the fact that he had to do this whole spiel all over again,

"Stand..." Jolyne trails off, before looking at him, "Then, you too?"

Your own surprise was still as clear as day on your face, and you seemed like you wanted to say something, but haven't found the right words to explain it. Again, not surprising to Jotaro. This probably doesn't make a whole lot of sense to you, so of course, you'd have questions.

He was immediately proven wrong, however, the moment Johngalli A attacks. It happened so fast that he hasn't processed it completely at the time, the sound of your chair scraping against the floor, your voice shouting Jolyne's name drowned by his own as he called for his stand, activating his time stop to save his daughter.

Relief filled his entirety as he saw that Jolyne used her ability, her strings to weave something to stop the bullet, silently commending his own daughter for her quick thinking. Now that he wasn't in a panic about his daughter's safety, only then did something else in the room catch his eye.

Jotaro's heart dropped to his stomach.

A stand.

There's another stand in this room.

It's reaching out to Jolyne, whether to protect or to attack her, he wasn't quite sure.

Jolyne was shot from the outside, so there's a high possibility that Johngalli A's stand is in the hall, the guard is knocked out, Jolyne is using hers and Star Platinum is right beside him. And so, by process of elimination, this stand......

His gaze went from the stand and to you, and he wanted to bang his head against the wall for even considering the possibility that you were a stand user too. Of course you weren't, not you, if you were, he would have known.

......right?

And if you weren't a stand user, then this can only mean that there are two enemies. At this thought, Star Platinum swiftly moved to deal damage but Jotaro had already reached his limit by this time and had no choice but to deactivate his time stop. Much to his surprise, the stand was swift enough to block Star Platinum's blow. Though it wasn't strong enough to fully stop it, the astonished look on your face that surprised Star Platinum's user was enough to make the stand freeze.

"This... is your stand, isn't it?" you turn to look at Jolyne who was also surprised by the sudden turn of events, "And... you have... strings?"

Jotaro opened his mouth to speak but immediately remembered the dire situation, testing his theory, he used Star Platinum to pull on your stand. In all honesty, he didn't know how to feel as you flew with your stand towards the wall, the same direction as Star pulled on your stand.

"You have a stand?" Jotaro practically growled, eyes hardened as they glared at you while you try to make sense of what was going on.

"I was right, it was the stand thing you were talking about,"

"Yes. Since when did you have a stand?"

"Of course, you wouldn't notice if mom had a stand, you were barely home!" Jolyne hissed and Jotaro turned his glare toward his daughter

"You knew?!"

"Of course not! I'm just as surprised as you!"

"Wait, since when did you have a stand, Jolyne?!"

The sound of a gunshot was enough to shut the three of you up, but not without Jotaro getting the last word in

"We'll continue this later,"

Apparently, "later" meant after your family breaks the law and escapes from prison because what better way to fix a broken family than to become a bunch of fugitives.

You watch with furrowed brows as Jolyne talks back to her father, with Jotaro still being as clueless as ever and you thought of comforting her, but held yourself back from doing so—you knew Jolyne had pent-up frustrations with her father, and you knew Jotaro deserved to hear what she has to say anyway—no matter how harsh they could be.

"Listen," will he finally open up to his daughter? "Something's strange,"

You didn't know what you even expected, especially in a situation like this.

Jotaro was swift to tell Jolyne to duck and pull you to hide behind the wall with him. Allowing yourself to be pulled, you stayed beside your ex-husband as he peeked through the corner, you can hear voices from a distance and you can feel the hair on your arms stand on end—but not because of the voices of the possible guards, but because of something else.

It was said that humans have a sixth sense, one that was reserved for when someone is observing them, whether from afar or somewhere near, an individual would be able to feel it to some extent when eyes are glued to them.

Following your instincts, you ignore the gunshot that rang out and let your eyes wander—there, you saw it.

Another stand, a goopy one, at that. But it wasn't observing you as you had initially thought, its attention is focused on your husband instead, almost as if it was waiting, anticipating something... but you didn't know what. Turning your head to Jotaro, you open your mouth to warn him, but he was a step ahead of you.

The sound of his name being called out by you was easily drowned by the sound of his own voice as he activates his own ability. Surveying his surroundings, he noticed that your eyes were neither on him nor on your daughter, but is focused on something else which prompted Jotaro to turn his head in the same direction.

That's when Jotaro finally realized what was going on.

There were two enemy stand users, and one he had not accounted for. They were waiting for this exact moment—this moment where he has no other choice but to use his ability to save his family, and he walked right into their trap. Either way, it doesn't matter. The safety of his family was his top priority, even above his own, and with a scowl, he lunges forward just in time to save both Jolyne from a barrage of bullets heading her way.

This is when White Snake finally saw his opportunity.

"You were one move behind," Was the stand's taunting words towards Jotaro, "Kujo Jotaro... I was waiting for this moment!"

However, just like how Jotaro hadn't accounted for another stand user to make its way into the battlefield, so did White Snake. And just like Jotaro, he was a move too late when he realized what had happened.

Everything happened far too quickly, one second, Jotaro was about to turn to face the other stand who had approached him, and the next, he felt your hands push him away and he fell to the floor on his bottom, eyes widened in shock as the other stand used its ability on you.

Jotaro's and White Snake's minds drew blank for a moment as they watch discs protrude from the side of your face, both of them were a step too late, and you were a step ahead of them.

White Snake was only snapped out of shock when he noticed that the glazed-over look on Jotaro's eyes suddenly vanished as they narrowed, with the stand now annoyed at the mishap that could have easily been avoided had it paid more attention to you, it had no other choice but to swipe your memory and stand discs—perhaps, these could come in handy; your stand had incredible speed, he can make use of that, and your memory disc can be useful in terms of luring Jotaro in the future. With that, the stand swiftly moves away from the scene to escape Jotaro's wrath.

You suddenly felt dizzy and weak, perhaps, it was just the adrenaline rush finally wearing off. You felt like you could no longer hold yourself up as your legs turn into jelly, and the last thing you heard was the sound of gunshots along with your daughter's battle cry, and the last thing you felt was warm hands catching you before your body met the cold, hard floor.

More thoughts upon rewatching Torchwood:

I so badly wish that there was more exploration in canon about what Torchwood means to the individual team members.

I'm just really obsessed with Owen's breakdown when he's fired in End Of Days. We only get a little bit of it. We just get the short, chopped-shots hyperventilating panic attack he gets as he waits for the elevator. The next time we see him he's drinking and has the hallucination of Diane.

But it seems like out of everyone on the team, he's the worst off if he was made to leave (retconned or not).

He's the only member of the team that has nothing at all outside Torchwood. Everyone else at least has family members that they're on good terms with, if not friends. But it seems like Owen has spent his time at Torchwood trapped in this cycle of lonely slow motion self-destruction, living a bachelor life and not doing much else outside of work other than sleeping, drinking, and fucking.

Which is fine as a lifestyle if you've got some other solid thing to hold on to, but Owen doesn't. The only thing he has is Torchwood. But Torchwood isn't something that's comforting or safe or calm. It's traumatic as fuck on every level.

And yet it's also the thing that keeps Owen alive and functioning. Jack gave Owen a purpose when he brought him to Torchwood, and he's definitely a sort of positive father-figure to Owen. Obviously, Owen has issues with authority, acts very teenager-y in that he'll push back if he thinks he can do it without "real" punishment, he'll be a little shit and talk about or question or whatever. But he seems to want Jack's support and approval. It's probably the only positive encouragement or interaction he gets that's "real".

So Owen getting fired from Torchwood means he knows he's going to lose the one thing that has kept him going, and the one thing that is positive in his life, even if it is also terrible.

And if he had been retconned then, he would have been going right back to when he lost Katie, only this time he wouldn't have any of his or Katie's friends around to help him grieve, he wouldn't have his contacts from his time working at the hospital, and he's obviously estranged from his mother, so he'd be completely alone. Alone and back to the emotional state he was in when he lost Katie.

So the breakdown makes sense. Not only does being fired and retconned mean losing meaning in his life and a purpose and support, it also means being very aware of how he is going to be feeling when he gets retconned, knowing just what state of mind he'll be returning to.

Tosh and Ianto have some outside friends or family members, but they also essentially only have Torchwood. Jack saved Toshiko like he saved Owen, and I think they both feel bound to the job and to Jack in that way. Jack rescued Tosh from a much more certain and terrible fate, the loneliness and torture of a UNIT prison. Owen was lost and floundering and probably would have eventually self-destructed somehow if Jack hadn't brought him to Torchwood. But that potential future was mostly uncertain when he met Jack. Tosh's fate was known: she would have been stuck in that prison until death. So she was also saved by Jack, saved by Torchwood, and not only that but given the space and tools and time to flourish and grow and flex her skills with tech and probably learn new stuff as well. Jack rescued her from a fate probably worse than death and placed her in an environment that -- while lonely and dangerous -- probably is the most fulfilling for her. And I think he rescued Ianto too, in a way. After Lisa, he let Ianto stay, and that already is a level of trust and belief in Ianto's abilities that is beyond anything Ianto ever saw when he was working at Torchwood One. But I think also after having a traumatic and terrible experience from the fall of Canary Wharf and also perhaps a more distant, cold interaction with coworkers at Torchwood One, being able to experience a safer (at least for the most part for Ianto) version of the job and closer, more supportive team is probably good for Ianto too.

It's just so funny that the show focused on Gwen as the "main"ish character when everyone else is so much more compelling because they don't live normal lives, they don't have partners they can come home to, they have backstories that are traumatic or strange or compelling, they have personalities that are weird because they've basically rebuilt themselves in the safety of the hub and the isolation of Torchwood, like animals that evolve to live in caves, but ultimately they care a lot about what they do, more so even than Gwen, because to them it's not just a job, it's a whole new life and a new chance.

I have been given question permission and as someone who is also a fan of fantasy/magical/ect. AUs I am thrilled to ask questions about Insect and Pyre.

Can I ask about what happened after the end of the fic? Obviously Dabi was wanting to learn about his new abilities and shatter the stone (as he should), but what do they get up to then?

Also, out of sheer world-building curiosity, did you have any other gods concepted for the world? I know Rei's goddess was mentioned, so I'm just curious about any others that might not have made the cut to get into the actual fic. And extrapolating from what Duster said, is he now a God of Life/Creation and Dabi a God of Death/Destruction?

(Sorry if this is too many questions for one ask... This AU is just really cool, and wonderfully crafted, I can't help but want to know more.)

Cackling, alright, let's get into it! (oops, this got very long)

After: Dabi absolutely destroyed the stone. Tomura mentioned that things would come naturally to him, and over the next few weeks, Dabi would realize that using magic is as easy as breathing for him now. But he would start to notice he still has a greater affinity for breaking, and strangely, preventing, things from being broken. Tomura would tell him this may be a secondary aspect of his divinity coming through, something that is being born of Dabi's existence rather than an extension of Tomura's divinity. Over the course of a year, Dabi would come to be a god of Vengeance and Protection, as the real reason he killed Enji was because he wanted to protect Tomura and any more people from being sacrificed in his bid for power, rather than just to get revenge. Having both of these aspects also is smaller scale mirror of Tomura's domain being Creation and Destruction, and allows him to function in similar ways (i.e. he doesn't have to constantly ask his partner to make him bowls or flowers, etc. he can use his own magic for those purposes).

He does, however, have uphold his domain. What this means is that he and Tomura travel through the forest, and Dabi uses his divinity to sow the seeds of death and destruction of everyone who knew and condoned the sacrificed that were sent to keep Tomura imprisoned. But he also sees a young woman being mistreated because she has an affinity for hemocraft and he reaches out to her. Offers her a chance to take revenge on the people who hurt her or a way to protect herself from them, and she chooses to protect herself, to survive. He brings her back to his old village and gives her a letter for the remaining Todorokis. She'll be taken care of with them, he knows Fuyumi and Rei would never let a child suffer, Natuso won't let anyone do what was done to him to another, and Shoto... well they are the same age, maybe they'll get along at the very least.

Toga does come and visit he and Shigaraki in their cave, a home now instead of a prison when they're not traveling. She does stay with the Todorokis once they've rebuilt their home, and she keeps telling Dabi how his mother and siblings ask after him, ask if he'll come to see them ever. But he doesn't. He doesn't know what to say to them, how he could possibly explain what happened? Tomura keeps gently encouraging him to go see them. He's immortal now, they aren't. He doesn't want Dabi to miss out on the chance to have as many years as he can with them, but he doesn't push.

However, on the night of the summer solstice one year after his death and ascension, Dabi feels drawn to the mouth of the cave. He finds out that it's because his remaining family (and Toga, who definitely for sure did not ask Tomura about summoning gods) brought offerings and created a brazier to burn forget-me-nots in. (Since that was how Tomura passed along his divinity they serve the same function as the berries did for Shigaraki, and Dabi would not be able to hurt people wearing or consuming the flowers, and also be aware of them the way Shigaraki was of the plants and berries.) So Dabi was very abruptly tricked into having a family reunion, and there is a lot of hugging and crying and Dabi being very uncomfortable and terrified because he killed Enji, he nearly sacrificed the whole countryside because he very stupidly, and way too quickly, fell in love. But that isn't a fight that any of them want to have. Dabi spends time with them, Rei brought fruit tarts, he makes Tomura come out and meet them and be personable.

And he and Tomura stay in the forest for eternity, they keep their land safe, they love each other. There will be decades or centuries where they don't interact with anyone at all, and other times when they will wander and meet other creatures, gods, etc. Eternity is a long time, they get up to a great many things in it.

As for the gods: So my intention with this series was that there isn't a set number of gods who have specific domains all to themselves (like gods in DND or the like) rather, as Tomura mentioned he is a god of creation and destruction. There are many others. No one god can take hold of a an entire domain for themself. As such, Rei worshipped a goddess of winter that the Himura family supposedly descends from. She wouldn't know the goddess's true name, but would use titles for her like 'Mother of Snow', 'Lady of Frost', 'Dame of Barren Ice', etc.

When it comes to Tomura, even after severing a portion of his divinity for Dabi, he would still be a god of creation and destruction. This is because those are huge domains to be a part of with a lot of different aspects to them. If he wanted, he could create dozens if not hundreds of new gods by slicing away small aspects of himself. For instance creating gods of art, music, fertility, and love by offering up those aspects of his own abilities to create. In the case of what he did for Dabi, Shigaraki removed his ability to kill people for revenge, but he can absolutely still kill people. He can destroy from famine, natural disaster, disease, just straight up malice and murder, etc. He just is now incapable of killing someone who wronged him. But he doesn't really need to worry about that, Dabi will happily do it for him now.

Cadeyrn "Cade" Verhaine

currently, I'm playing him in a dnd campaign run by my friend, where he's a human and an order of the lycan blood hunter. he's much older, however, and is, along with Ffion, from an original story of mine that I've been working on for years. in that story, he's a werewolf with cursed blood who works as a bounty hunter — his primary prey, however, are witches, both because the group have been systematically wiped out over a few centuries and also because it was a witch who placed the curse in his blood. but, in the campaign, he's involved with the party because he's hoping to find answers regarding the disappearance of his older brother, Elidyr, who vanished on the same night that he and Cade's father went on a hunt. the body of their father was found, but no sign of Elidyr was ever located and it's been Cade's driving force ever since. he's currently married to Ffion, who in this setting is a half-elf clockwork sorcerer (in my original verse, Ffion is half-fae and is a witch, beings who are considered to be magic given form and who are often sought out for their ability to grant wishes) and in their original verse, Cade eventually becomes Ffion's familiar, which both "cures" the curse in his blood and extends his lifespan to match Ffion's. Cade is a very large (6'4", bulky muscle) and grumpy man, who often intimidates others and while he can definitely be something of a cynical asshole, he's actually a big softie inside and will wind up doing the right thing, even if he bitches about it the whole time. within the party in the campaign, Cade is basically the tank (there's a warlock, a sorcerer, and a ranger) and he also has the lowest charisma, sitting at a pretty -2 as his cha modifier lmao.

Caelirax "Cael" Tienabre

while Cael is also from an original story, right now I'm mostly focusing on his Elden Ring au, because I ended up deciding to use him as my main tarnished. in-game, I started him as a vagabond and he focuses primarily on a strength/dex build with some faith for incantations, no magic. he's the brother of Lansseax and Fortissax, but at some point in time, he was cursed (haven't quite decided by who, or what, just yet? been toying with the idea of it being an outer god) and locked into a human form, which drove him mad. Fortissax initially believed they would need to kill him, but Lansseax took pity on their brother and instead placed him into a deep slumber, to keep the madness at bay while they searched for a way to undo the curse. much later, after the golden order has been established, the empyrean, Miquella, happens across the slumbering figure. he accidentally awakens Cael, and somehow, his presence is able to quell the madness within the dragon. due to this, Cael dedicates himself to Miquella and serves as one of his closest protectors, alongside Malenia. then, naturally, the night of the black knives happens and soon after, the shattering, and Cael loses what grace he has, becoming tarnished and is forced into exile, so he, like Malenia, never really learn the true fate of Miquella. eventually, Cael rises and begins his journey within the game itself, but he remembers nothing save for two things: 1) that his name is Cael (he cannot recall his full dragon name, at this point) and 2) that he needs to find someone. as of right now, I have plans for him to make it all the way to Mohg (where his memories will come back fully and he'll go into the dlc to find Miquella, or try to) and as he fights through each boss up to that point, and explores more of the land's between and comes across certain items closely connected to Miquella, he begins to remember more and more about his past. when he comes across Lansseax, he of course doesn't recognize her and so even when she realizes who he is and tries to disengage from the fight (since in-game she will retreat after a certain point), Cael, only seeing her as a threat, ends up killing her. he thinks that he hears a whispered, "brother" upon the dragon's death, but he brushes it off as a trick of the wind. haven't decided yet if he'll run across Fortissax as a boss, since I'm not sure if he's going to mess with Fia's questline, and I don't, as of now, plan on having him seek out Malenia to fight. won't do that until I know more about the dlc and what implications it has for the overall main story of the game.

Your posts about spiders hair, and how it could symbolize him feeling neglected throughout his life gave me the idea of what if Quarich tried to do his hair, Obviously Quarichs bad at it and doesn’t know what he’s doing but he’s actually trying, unlike everyone else who just did something to keep it put Quarich actually tries his best to give him a hairstyle to the best of his Ability

a quick note, I typed half of this post before realizing I misunderstood what you were saying, so this post is gonna have a whole bunch of stuff, cause I really like what I had even if it was a bit off-topic, so I'm leaving it.

In that post, I actually mean his hair could be a symbolization of his identity and connection to both his human and na'vi self, but I really like this idea too, so you get two answers (actually 3, heed the note).

With Quaritch, I think it would be seen less in him actually doing Spider's hair, at least at first (cause doing someone's hair is super intimate). it would start with little comments, questions, and gestures; asking how he maintains such a head of hair, why he has it styled like that, tussling it out in the field. when he finds out how badly SPider's hair has been neglected, he offers him the time, place, materials, and push to take it into his hands. he simply pays attention to it, and it gives Spider a sense of fulfillment he's never had before, and a sense of confidence.

I think as time passed and the two got closer, he'd start helping out with the boy's hair, helping him scrub it, learning to braid it and tie it up in different ways. he would push Spider to do what he wants with it, not what someone did with it a lifetime ago; and when spider finally collects the courage to start his hair over (cause when hair is matted, like white hair is, when 'locked', especially for that long, there's no bouncing back from it, it just has to be cut off) he's right behind him cause it kills Spider to do it (I'm gonna come back to this).

The way Quaritch and Spider's hair would symbolize a change from the neglect he knew, to the love and care of his father, would be that Quaritch inspires change, he pays attention to his hair, loves him, and shows it to him through small gestures.

Spider's hair is the one tie he has to being na'vi, at least in his mind; he has no na'vi body, he has no true na'vi family (outside of the kids, but that's different), he has nothing besides the hair given to him by his adoptive father. he clings to them as some sort of proof that he belongs, much like the stripes he paints onto himself.

so as his hair begins to change, it isn't necessarily him letting go of his na'vi culture, but more the false feelings and ideas he has about what it means to be na'vi. He feels like he has to be different, he has to change, he has to be something else to be na'vi; when in reality, he just needs to be himself (he has a connection to pandora, no doubt, he was born and raised there. he has the animals and Kiri's respect, and that's how he connects to Eywa, he has to put in much more effort, but he shows her everyday how devoted he is to her, her world, and her people). Cutting off his locs, growing his hair out as he pleases, would symbolize him accepting himself as he is, no longer trying to be something he isn't.

now to finally answer your actual question (cause I'm an idiot who apparently can't read)

I think Quaritch would be like the single dad stereotype when it comes to hair. There's a sharp learning curve, cause A. he has no knowledge of hair and how to take care of it, especially curly hair like spiders B. spider is not him, he's not just gonna keep it shaven, and he most definitely will still see his hair with a lot of importance, he'll want to keep it long and will treat it with a lot of respect.

I see Spider being super protective over it, not letting Quaritch touch it at first. Quaritch keeps trying to pat his head or ruffle his hair, and Spider keeps fleeing from his touch. Then they get closer, Spider starts washing his hair more often, cause he has someone actually worrying about his hygiene, and eventually, Quaritch worms his way into that ritual, helping spider soak, scrub, rinse his hair, and that's when they really start bonding (not talking trauma bonds or the connection between father and son, like actual intimate, personal bonding). Quaritch would learn with Spider, learn different ways to style his sad, neglected locs, different ways to style his hair after he attempts to brush it out (which was mostly a failure), helps him grow it out when he eventually hacks it off. this is especially true when Quaritch realizes how deeply the neglect of Spider's hair affected him (cause to Spider, it was more than just hair, it was love and a connection, one he saw all his siblings, family, and people have. it was the one thing that 'made him na'vi', so to be neglected so horribly in that department it fucked him up), he puts twice the energy into it.

He becomes such a hair dad (grows his own out), he collects things (beads, rocks to make into beads, other hair fixtures) to braid into Spider's and his own hair, he carries whatever the na'vi equivalent of a hair tie on him at all times, and at least once a week he and his boy take a day to manage their hair. Spider prefers one long braid (he aches for a tswin/queue sue him), and Quaritch likes his braided, and they do it for each other. Quaritch brushes Spider's hair out for him almost every night, and Spider braids beads into his dad's hair. It's their thing, and only theirs; no matter how close Spider gets to anyone, no one is allowed to touch his hair like his dad does.

it heals something in spider, makes him feel whole.
