All 4runners have been integrated in japan at toyota's plant in tahara, aichi, or at the hino motors (a toyota subsidiary) plant in hamura. Vehicles such as the nissan pathfinder, when an authentic suv ready to take on gnarly terrain, have actually given that morphed into crossovers with less off-road capability. The 2020 toyota 4runner keeps its status as a tough, off-road prepared suv that uses a more civilized option to vehicles like the jeep wrangler, particularly when discovered in trd off-road or trd pro trims. It's likewise a fairly comfy daily driver that can seat up to 7 passengers throughout 3 rows, and it can tow approximately 5,000 pounds. Toyota 4Runner vs. Jeep Grand Cherokee The same can be stated, to varying degrees, of models like the ford explorer and chevrolet blazer. What do individuals consider the 2020 Toyota 4Runner? The 2018 toyota 4runner is a body-on-frame sport energy, meaning it's truck-based instead of car-based as would be a crossover-suv. This indicates that the 4runner might not be for everyone, but it does fit a specific market and segment of needs. The 2018 4runner needs to be thought of as a pickup truck with more seating capable of bring a fair variety of people and pulling a fair amount of trailer and cargo. As such, the japanese maker didn't change much of anything on the 2013 toyota 4runner. Rise in catalytic converter thefts fills up dealership service departments
There has been a sharp increase in the number of catalytic converters being stolen across the country, resulting in vehicles stacking up in dealership service departments as customers endure costly and lengthy repairs and manufacturers, police and legislators search for a way to curb the thefts.
The National Insurance Crime Bureau said there were 14,433 catalytic converter thefts reported in the U.S. in 2020, the last year figures were available. That's a fourfold increase from 3,389 theft cases reported in 2019. In 2018, there were just 1,298 thefts reported. Officials hinted that 2021 figures could show a dramatic increase.
On one day in April in Houston, AutoNation Toyota Gulf Freeway had 66 vehicles waiting to have their catalytic converters replaced after thieves stole them. Two of those vehicles were back for a second time after being targeted again.
While any vehicle can fall prey to thieves, some Toyota models are coveted because their catalytic converters have a higher concentration of precious metals than those of other manufacturers, so they command higher prices.
Pickups such as Toyota's Tundra and Tacoma are popular with converter bandits because they can have up to four converters and sit relatively high off the ground. That makes it easier for thieves to slip underneath and use a cordless saw to remove the mufflerlike converters, said Craig Fletcher, service director at AutoNation Toyota Gulf Freeway. Toyota Prius hybrids and SUVs and certain Honda four-cylinder vehicles are also particularly prized, as are Ford F-Series and Ram 1500 pickups.
"It's been a constant problem for the last 12 months," Fletcher said. "Approximately a year ago, the price of the materials that Toyota uses for the converters went through the roof."
Catalytic converters contain just a few grams of costly metals such as platinum, palladium and rhodium. The rare elements react with combustion gases to reduce the amount of hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrous oxide in a vehicle's exhaust.
Rhodium's current market price is about $16,600 per ounce. Platinum is trading for around $919 an ounce, while palladium is in the neighborhood of $2,200 per ounce.
The skyrocketing value of the converters makes comprehensive auto insurance a must-have, said Sgt. Tracy Hicks of the Houston Police Department's Auto Theft Crime Task Force. Replacing catalytic converters can run as high as $11,000, depending on the vehicle and any collateral damage to items such as wiring and fuel, transmission or coolant lines.
Hicks said certain Toyota converters were bringing $2,000 when the price of the metals skyrocketed last year.
Depending on the market price of metals, the powertrain and type of vehicle, recyclers will pay up to $1,500 for a single catalytic converter, said Doug Seliger, marketing director of PGM of Texas, which specializes in catalytic converter recycling. A set of four Tundra converters, for example, is currently bringing $500 to $1,000, he said.
Cheaper, riskier alternatives
Consumers could also benefit from having an insurance policy that covers long-term car rentals. The rampant crimes are resulting in lengthy wait times to get customers back on the road. Fletcher noted one customer's Tundra had been at the Houston Toyota dealership at least 147 days. He said converters are ordered for each specific vehicle and can take weeks to arrive.
"A group of converters for one side [of the vehicle] will come in, while the parts for the other side will show up later," Fletcher said. "Very seldom do all the converters come in at the same time."
Adam Haner, service director at Helfman Motors in Houston, said replacement catalytic converters are on "intergalactic back order."
"Having to tell customers they're facing weeks of delay before they get the converters and can use their vehicle [again] has been the hardest part of my job in my 19 years here," he said.
In some cases, victims who didn't have comprehensive coverage or waited so long for original replacement parts that their rental car coverage expired have turned to cheaper, less reliable aftermarket catalytic converters. One Toyota technician said some customers, at their own cost, have had muffler shops weld in tubing to patch the exhaust system just to get their vehicles back on the road.
Even if the damage seems minor, such as when the thief gives up and just leaves a saw cut in the exhaust tubing, Haner doesn't recommend or perform what he calls "Band-Aid" fixes.
"If you weld the pipe up, it could cause further issues down the road," he said. "There's just too much potential liability. Plus, we just try to do the right thing."
AutoNation Toyota Gulf Freeway and other dealerships sell and install anti-theft catalytic converter shields that are available through a number of aftermarket vendors. Fletcher says the devices range from $750 to $900 installed per vehicle.
A Toyota accessory guide offers a dozen catalytic converter shields for various models, from the 2001 Prius to the 2022 Tundra, Sequoia and Tacoma.
Still, with sticker prices ranging from $160 to $570 for the parts alone, the devices are not for everyone, said Paul Le Blanc, service director of Longo Toyota in El Monte, Calif.
"We only see two to three [shield sales] per month from parts," he said. "One of the reasons why is the cost. I believe most people who buy them probably had a converter stolen already."
A legislative fix?
Toyota Motor North America called catalytic converter thefts an industrywide challenge and told Automotive News it was committed to working with all stakeholders to protect vehicle owners.
"In our view, the most effective approach requires close collaboration between the broader automotive industry and local and state authorities to devise legislative solutions aimed at eliminating the market for these stolen parts," the automaker said in a written statement.
Catalytic converter rip-offs have taken a more violent turn as more hardened criminals attempt to cash in. Confrontations can turn deadly. In Houston, an off-duty sheriff's deputy was fatally shot in March during a parking lot gun battle with three men who had targeted his vehicle as he and his wife shopped at a supermarket.
In January, U.S. Rep. Jim Baird, R-Ind., introduced the Preventing Auto Recycling Thefts (PART) Act. If passed, the legislation would aid law enforcement by requiring VINs be stamped onto catalytic converters of new vehicles, setting up stricter record-keeping of buyers of catalytic converters and codifying catalytic converter thefts as criminal offenses.
"This is a clean, straight-forward bill that has the potential to solve a serious problem plaguing far too many vehicle owners and law enforcement officials across the country," Baird told Automotive News. In April, the National Automobile Dealers Association called the measure a legislative priority and urged lawmakers to co-sponsor the bill.
Baird said he was hopeful the bill would gain bipartisan support because he believed it would close loopholes preventing law enforcement from holding converter thieves accountable.
"Americans have enough to worry about," he said. "Spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars replacing a required car part shouldn't be one of them."

How Is Toyota Weathering the Pandemic? With Surprisingly Strong Sales and Supply Limits
Toyota is building trucks and SUVs as fast as it can to meet the surprisingly strong consumer demand for new vehicles. The Japanese automaker is adjusting where it can, such as cancelling car rental orders to use its reduced capacity to make as many vehicles as it can for retail customers, said Bob Carter, Executive Vice President, Automotive Operations.
The nine new or refreshed vehicles planned for this year will all go ahead, said Carter. The new 2021 Toyota Sienna hybrid minivan made its debut online a few weeks ago, as did the 2021 Toyota Venza, a two-row hybrid crossover. Tonight is the global virtual unveiling of the 2021 Lexus IS sedan. Here is the full rundown on what Toyota and Lexus have in the works going forward:
All Plants Back At Work
Wait, isn’t everything hunky dory? Not exactly. The new 2020 Toyota Highlander got caught in the pandemic shutdowns. “We are in the midst of ramping up new Highlander,” he said. “We sold the old one down earlier than anticipated and were in the midst of ramp-up in the plant in Indiana when COVID hit and disrupted that. We postponed the launch and only did one wave of marketing and will bring it back later in the year now that Indiana is in production.”
The Highlander snafu speaks to a broader challenge. Toyota resumed manufacturing May 11 but plants are not operating at full capacity under new COVID-19 safety protocols, especially those in Mexico where there are more government hurdles to overcome. Workers complete a health questionnaire before reporting for work, get temperature checks, wear masks or face shields, stand further apart, work and eat separated by plexiglass, and have staggered shifts.
In the six weeks since manufacturing resumed, there have been some cases of infection but they appear to be community spread—not work contamination. There have been pauses in production, but no major shutdowns, said Chris Reynolds, Chief Administrative Officer, Manufacturing and Corporate Resources. And there have been no issues with getting temporary workers to return to the job. He is hopeful that as restrictions ameliorate, Toyota will be able to meet demand in the coming months.
Best Sales Weekend
On the sales side, Carter said Toyota is coming off its best weekend since the pandemic began. The market and consumer appetite continue to recover quicker than expected, he said in a virtual roundtable with media.
Through June 15, retail sales are running at 85 percent compared with a year ago and Carter thinks it will remain at this level for the next few months with “lumpy sales” for the rest of the month and into July as the supply chain struggles to keep up. It’s not just Toyota. Supply will restrict sales and create imbalance for the whole industry in June and July until there are enough parts available to build more vehicles. “I think it will plateau here until supply chain allows us to get more inventory out there.”
It’s been an interesting ride so far. March was the transition month and recorded an 11.3-million annual sales pace with a strong start to the month before the virus turned the spigot off and the world largely ground to a halt. The sales pace hit its low point at an 8.6 million rate in April but May saw a surprising upswing to 12.2 million, and that rate is holding steady through June 15. Overall, Toyota has revised its projected U.S. sales for 2020 to 13.6 million from the original forecast of 16.8 million.
We Need More Trucks
Even before the pandemic, pickups and SUVs accounted for 70 percent of sales, share that has not changed. As a result, Tacoma and Tundra pickups are in short supply. “I’m asking Chris to build everything. If it has four wheels, build it,” said Carter.
Demand for Tacoma is particularly strong (perhaps this has something to do with the rare incentives Toyota offered for the truck recently). It is made in Baja, California; San Antonio; and Mexico, each with its own regional supply chain and subject to government directives that have impacted production, especially in Mexico. But Toyota’s two Mexico plants are now running with staggered shifts, Reynolds said.
Overall hybrid sales are up 3.5 percent despite low gas prices, with the highest demand for the RAV-4 Hybrid and initially for the new Highlander until production was disrupted. Carter credits adding more performance and sport hybrids, instead of just relying on efficiency to entice buyers.
Incentives have been high, especially on luxury vehicles, which have gone as high as $10,000. But incentives are pulling back a bit in June, Carter said, noting deals like General Motors’ offer of zero percent financing for 84 months is extremely expensive. Toyota offers a more modest 60 months and is currently promoting its hybrids, many of them with zero percent financing.
Pent-Up and New Demand
There is some pent-up demand, but also new demand. Virtually all 1,500 dealers are open for business with appointments required for sales. Anecdotally, dealers in places like New York City are getting first-time buyers who have become uncomfortable relying on public transportation, Carter said. Toyota’s website is hitting record highs with people requesting quotes, averaging 4,000 inquiries a day compared with 2,600 a day in June 2019, as consumers change their buying habits.
Leases are coming back to dealers. Carter said Toyota is taking in vehicles from areas like New York and relocating many of them to more robust markets such as Florida and Texas that need more certified pre-owned inventory. The sale of these off-lease vehicles is pacing 40 percent higher than Toyota planned for in June. Most are being bought online. Few are making it to auction, he said.
Fleet Orders Cancelled
What is not recovering are commercial and fleet sales, which are only at 15–20 percent of normal. This represents about 20 percent of total sales. Instead of building basic-spec vehicles for car rental, Toyota has cancelled those orders and is reallocating the production to retail-spec vehicles. Toyota is not a big player in the rental car business; with Carter noting that it accounts for only 8 to 9 percent of its sales.
Meanwhile, non-manufacturing employees will continue to work from home until Sept 1. Carter admits he is old school; working from home had only been tried on a limited basis and he was worried Toyota would lose the efficiency it is famous for. That has not been the case, he reports, admitting some, including the customer call centers, are proving more efficient than when they came into the office.

Red Fuel Powered by Schumacher SL65 Jump Starter [UPDATED 2020]
Today we’ll be reviewing a jump starter with a rather exciting name – the Red Fuel powered by Schumacher SL65 Jump Starter! Yes, it’s a bit of a mouth full but the real question is, does this device live up to its illustrious name, or is this one of Schumacher’s rare failures in the jump starter space? Here’s a quick summary of the review if you're in a hurry: SUMMARY: Overall, the Red Fuel SL65 is a decent, compact jump starter, with an attractive design, backed by one of the biggest names in the industry – Schumacher. It has reasonable jump starting power for its size (400A peak, 200A cranking) and okay battery capacity (8000mAh). It is perfectly capable of jump starting small cars (4-6 cylinder gas), motorcycles and scooters. On the negative side, by modern standards, the SL65 is somewhat limited in functionality, especially with respect to DC outlets, not having ports for charging laptops or other 12V devices. It also lacks the ability to be recharged via a car’s cigarette lighter port and doesn’t have a cigarette lighter adapter to connect a portable air compressor or car power inverter for powering AC devices while outdoors. Pros: Striking compact design – 7.9 x 4.3 x 2.8 inchesGood jump starting power for its size – 400A peak, 4-6 cylinder cars, motorcycles, scootersExcellent safety featuresBacked by Schumacher brand Cons: Limited DC outlets – only 2X USB, no laptop charging portsCannot be recharged via a car’s cigarette lighterNo cigarette lighter outlet for powering portable air compressors, etc.Negative customer reviews about customer service
If you don’t need any more convincing you can check it out over here on Amazon to get yourself one today. *Note: this post contains affiliate links for which I receive a small commission should a sale result. In this review we will be going in-depth, looking at both the good and the bad of the Red Fuel jump starter. This will include a look at what customers that have bought the Red Fuel are saying about it as well as some other jump starters you might want to consider. We’ll then end off with our conclusions about the SL65. Let’s get started!
Red Fuel Powered by Schumacher Review – The Good
Compact Design The first aspect of the Schumacher Red Fuel that grabs your attention, besides the name, is the striking design and relatively compact dimensions of the unit. At just 7.9 x 4.3 x 2.8 inches, the unit is perhaps a little large for a shirt or pants pocket, but can certainly fit into a small carry bag or backpack. This means it can happily serve as a powerbank, in addition to its primary jump starter function, for your USB rechargeable devices.
Of course, it will also fit into the smallest of glove compartments whilst still leaving space for other essentials. We personally love compact jump starters – we never seize to be amazed at how such small devices can actually get your engine started when you have a dead battery. We have, in fact, done an extensive review of the best lithium ion jump starters, where we go over what exactly to look for in these devices to be sure you're making the best choice for your vehicle. We also compare them to their much larger SLA based cousins. Check it out - it's a good read! The size of the Schumacher stands in stark contrast to some of the company's other offerings. The DSR 122, for example, is a colossal unit, although it does include a battery charger and it will last a fair bit longer between charges!
Reasonable Jump Starting Ability So with this small size, you might be asking “How well does the Red Fuel SL65 actually perform? Is it only really capable of jump starting my daughter’s scooter or will it actually work on my car as well?” Well, the unit has a reported 400A peak jump starting current and 200A of cranking current. This we feel is reasonable and it should be able to get a standard 4 or 6 cylinder family car jump started without a problem. Do not however expect it to start your Toyota Tundra or Ford F-350. It will also struggle with most diesel engine vehicles since these require more jump starting force than gas engines. It is really important to understand the limitations of your jump starter – the Red Fuel is really only designed for small cars, motorcycles and scooters. There are jump starters with much large jump starting currents available suitable for large family vehicles, SUV and even trucks. Some great options are the NOCO Boost HD GB70 2000 Amp and the Imazing 2500A 21000mAh Jumper Pack. These have 5 to 6 times the jump starting current than the Red Fuel. At the end of the day, it’s all down to what you need. Good Battery Capacity In terms of capacity, the Schumacher Red Fuel comes with 8000mAh from its lithium ion battery pack. This is reportedly sufficient to jump start a car up to 20 times between charges. This is seriously pushing it and we certainly wouldn’t recommend testing this out. This capacity should also be good for charging your smart phone from flat approximately 1.5 times It is always our recommendation that you should recharge your jump starter as soon as possible after it’s been used. This is to ensure it’s ready for an emergency and to maximize the lifespan of the device. Multi-functionality and Safety The Red Fuel Schumacher comes with a respectable feature set. It includes 2 USB ports, one 1A and the other 2.1A so that you can charge two devices at once. It also has a flashlight which is handy at night. This is by no means ground-breaking by today’s standards, as discussed shortly, but a decent offering in order to keep the price of the unit down.
In terms of safety, Schumacher has really equipped the Red Fuel SL65 with all of the features including: reverse polarity, short circuit, low voltage, high temperature, and reverse charging. You can rest assured that you will be as safe as possible when using the SL65. On the topic of safety, we have also created a step-by-step guide on how to use a portable jump starter. Follow this and you'll be sure to minimize the risk of damaging your car or your jump starter, and be as safe as possible in the process as well. Backed by One of the Biggest Names in the Business The Schumacher name has become synonymous with exceptional quality and reliability in the jump starter and battery charger industry. You can be certain they would not risk damaging their reputation on the SL65. This should provide some peace of mind that you will indeed be getting a quality product. It also comes with a 1 year standard warranty.
What We Don’t Like About the Schumacher Red Fuel Jump Box
Be Aware of Jump Starting Limitations Many jump starters often perform beyond expectations, beyond what they have been designed for. The Schumacher won't have much lee-way however. Just bare this mind and all will be fine – small cars such the Ford Fiesta, motorcycles and scooters will be good. Diesels are particularly difficult to crank and so more care needs to be taken when selecting a jump box for these vehicles. Follow our tutorial on how to choose the best jump starter for diesel engines to avoid disappointment in your purchase. Limited DC Outlets By todays’ standards, the Red Fuel jump box is rather limited in terms of DC outlets, only having the two USB ports. Even at the fairly low price point of the SL65, competitors such as the DBPower DJS50 800A jump starter have, in addition to two USB ports, an outlet for charging laptops and other DC portable devices. No Cigarette Lighter Adapter Another let down is the lack of a cigarette lighter adapter both for charging the SL65 while on the go from your car and as an outlet from the unit so that you can power various 12V devices. These include air compressors for pumping up tyres and other inflatables which would normally eliminate the need to reach to your car’s outlet.
This is incredibly handy especially when camping for blowing up inflatable mattresses or for connecting 12V DC to AC inverters for powering your AC devices.
Summary of the Customer Reviews of the SL65 Jump Box
Moving onto reviews from people who have actually purchased the Schumacher Red Fuel, based on 140+ ratings, the SL65 has received an average of 4 stars out of 5, with 67% of those being 5 star ratings. This is respectable. Positive Reviews Most positive customer reviews mention how impressed they are with ability of the unit to reliably jump start their cars given its small size. Some customers have even successfully used it to jump start larger cars than expected. One customer used it on their V8 T-Bird, and another used it on their GMC Yukon Danali. Most have reported using the unit on their motorcycles and smaller cars however, with no problems experienced even after using it 5-10 times before recharging the device. Negative Reviews Some of the negative reviews mention that customer service is somewhat poor, with a slow or non-existent response from Schumacher when reporting issues with their SL65. This is disconcerting but it should be noted that this is only the experience of some people. Be sure to register your unit with Schumacher to ensure the best support. Still further negative reviews mention that the Schumacher’s 8000mAh rating is inaccurate – that it doesn’t provide the expected charging duration for their phones, tablets, etc. Other negative reviews say that after fully recharging the Red Fuel SL65, and then not using it for more than a month, that the unit was “dead” and would not even accept a charge. We see this time and again here at JumpStarterExpert.com. It is vital that you recharge your jump starter every month while in storage, even if it is not used at all. Jump starters experience self-discharge which is a natural, unavoidable phenomenon with ALL battery powered devices. Your cell phones, for instance, will do this as well. To maximize the longevity of your jump starter, please follow this advice, as some manufacturers may not honour your warranty if they find that you left your unit in storage without frequently recharging it.
Other Jump Starters to Look At Besides the Schumacher SL65
DBPOWER 800A Peak 18000mAh Portable Car Jump Starter We mentioned this one above, but the DBPower 800A is really a cracking jump starter and pretty stiff competition for the SL65. It has double the peak jump starting current rating, suitable for gas engines up to 7.2L and diesel up to 5.5L. It also has 2 USB ports, an outlet for charging laptops, a cigarette lighter adapter and an 18000mAh battery capacity – over 2 times that of the Schumacher.
To top it off it, it comes with a staggering 3 year warranty. All this does come at a slightly higher price than the Red Fuel Schumacher, but its definitely is worth a look. Noco GB40 1000A Car Jump Box The Noco GB40 is arguably the best selling jump starter of all time, with over 7000 reviews on Amazon! There’s a reason for this – it does exactly what it’s supposed to, it does it well, and it lasts. Not quite as feature packed as the DBPower above, it does however deliver even more peak jump starting current – 2.5X that of the SL65.
It comes with a single USB outlet port, a 3-mode flashlight, and it can be recharged from your car’s cigarette lighter or from any USB charger. It also has a larger internal battery than the Red Fuel Schumacher, but also costs slightly more. The GB40 is a solid alternative to consider.
Conclusion – Should You Buy the SL65 Red Fuel?
Overall, the Red Fuel SL65 is a decent, compact jump starter, with an attractive design and backed by one of the biggest names in the industry – Schumacher. It has reasonable jump starting power for its size and okay battery capacity. It also has 2 USB ports, a multi-mode flashlight., and an excellent safety feature set. With a 4 star average customer rating, many customers were impressed with the unit’s performance, being able to jump start vehicles larger than anticipated, and with the device lasting at least 5-10 jump starts before being recharged. On the negative side, by modern standards, the SL65 is somewhat limited with respect to DC outlets, not having ports for charging laptops or other 12V devices. It also lacks the ability to be recharged via a car’s cigarette lighter adapter, useful when on the go, and doesn’t have a cigarette lighter adapter to connect a portable air compressor or car power inverter for powering AC devices while outdoors. Negative customer reviews also reported somewhat poor customer service and that the 8000mAh rating is inaccurate – the device supplying less than this. The Red Fuel Powered by Schumacher SL65 jump starter is a respectable jump starter as long as you bear in mind the above limitations. There is however stiff competition out there from the likes of the DBPOWER DJS50 Portable Car Jump Starter and the Noco Genius Boost GB40.

GMC Sierra HD 2020 a monster of nature ... human
GMC Sierra HD 2020 a monster of nature ... human
GMC Sierra HD 2020 a monster of nature ... human
San Diego, California - As part of the launch of the AT4 version of the GMC Sierra 1500 2019, the General Motors truck division took the opportunity to unveil the HD versions of its new Sierra pickup truck.
GMC Sierra HD 2020 a monster of nature ... human
In essence, this is what consumers expect when the model hits the market this summer.
Design
Obviously, since we are talking about a new generation of products, we are talking about a completely revised style. Those who have seen what Chevrolet is preparing with the Silverado HD will be reassured; we went there more moderately at GMC. The pace is muscular, certainly, but it is successful. And, as is the custom, there are noticeable differences to distinguish versions. A simple look at the variations Denali and AT4 are enough to understand.
Towing
In the world of the HD pickup truck, towing is a big deal. Of course, we are referring here to capacities, but also to all the helpers that make life easier for homeowners.
In this regard, the GMC Sierra HD 2020 will offer a more user-friendly experience than ever before. One of the things that's catching your eye is the ProGrade Trailering system, which has 15 camera angles that let you see the load you're pulling from all angles. Then, a device that allows you to see behind as if the trailer did not exist. In fact, the cameras in question (those on the tailgate and those on the back of the trailer) work together to allow the driver to literally see through the towed load. The effect is successful and rather mind-blowing.
GMC Sierra HD 2020 a monster of nature ... human
Capacities
Because this is the nerve of war in this category, the announced towing capacity was done with great fanfare. The latter is estimated at 13,607 kilograms, or 30,000 pounds in the case of the 3500 version. A demonstration to put our eyes on it was also organized for the occasion. We could see a double axle variant towing a load of 225,000 pounds over a short distance. It was reminiscent of the Toyota Tundra feat that towed the Space Shuttle a few years ago.
Put it in the category "my truck is stronger than yours".
Much more
Of course, the GMC Sierra HD (2500 and 3500) is more than that. whether in terms of innovation equipment, style, mechanics, lark!
Because you have to draw the line somewhere and avoid talking all day long about the features of this new GMC Sierra HD, here are some additional highlights.
GMC Sierra HD 2020 a monster of nature ... human
- The Sierra pickup truck introduces a new type of hatchback that deploys in multiple ways by offering six functions. Named MultiPro, it is available on all variants of the model and is standard on SLT, AT4 and Denali grinds.
- A head-up display with a diagonal of 15 inches including a wealth of information (towing, speed, navigation, etc.)
- A mirror offering the possibility of broadcasting the image of a camera placed at the back.
- More space on board (the vehicle is a little bigger)
- A 6.6-liter V6 Duramax turbodiesel.
- A new 10-speed Allison automatic gearbox.
- An AT4 variant designed for off-road driving.
- Quantity of driving aids for towing.

What is Android Auto? | Features, Functions, Compatible Cars
New Post has been published on https://bestedevices.com/what-is-android-auto-features-functions-compatible-cars.html
What is Android Auto? | Features, Functions, Compatible Cars
Google may never build its own car, but it is already a major player in the automotive industry. Thousands of drivers use Android Auto software every day, either because they don't like their car's native infotainment system or because they prefer the familiar, smartphone-like interface. The latest updates have made it even more intuitive.
Like CarPlay, Apple's rival system, Android Auto promises to make driving safer by reducing distractions. Whether it achieves this goal depends on who you ask. AAA found that it helps drivers to keep both eyes on the road, but a British study concluded that driving is more distracting than driving drunk. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle, and common sense plays a big part in using in-car technology. Here's what you need to know about Android Auto:
What does Android Auto do?
Android Auto takes advantage of the features you love about your Android smartphone and inserts them directly into your car's dashboard by overwriting the native infotainment system. It displays information on a familiar, easy-to-use interface with cards that you can swipe out of the way, readable menus, and large icons. It recently got a darker theme, an updated app launcher layout, and a more intuitive user interface, making Android users more familiar than ever.
One of the best parts of Android Auto is the Google Maps-based navigation system, which provides step-by-step instructions and automatically finds an alternative route when heavy traffic is detected. It is a real blessing if no navigation is integrated in your car. The software is transferred from your phone via saved destinations so that you do not have to manually enter the address of your home, office or school. Finally, Android Auto gives motorists access to millions of songs and podcasts through a growing list of third-party apps when needed, allows them to surf the web, and enables them to stay connected by calling and sending messages through Hangouts, WhatsApp. and other messaging platforms.
All of the above functions also respond to basic voice commands. You can choose "OK, Google, play The Offspring" or "OK, Google, what is the capital of Australia?" Say. You can even ask, "OK, Google, what is Android Auto?" With voice commands, you can reply to messages using voice-text technology. Don't worry if your car is not equipped with speech recognition technology as Android Auto's functions are accessible via the touchscreen in your car or via the rotary knob if your car's screen is not touch sensitive. Note that your smartphone's screen will lock when Android Auto is active. However, you can swipe to unlock it if that's safe.
The integration of Google Assistant uses intelligent voice controls so drivers can keep their hands on the steering wheel. With the artificial intelligence of the assistant, fluid, precise two-way conversations are possible, and all your favorite apps are included for the journey.
Speaking of which, Android Auto works with a variety of third-party apps including Waze, Pandora, iHeart Radio, Skype, WhatsApp and Spotify. However, the vehicle settings are not part of Android Auto. Therefore, the driver must exit the application to adjust the climate control, browse radio stations or select another driving mode. However, Google is currently working with car manufacturers like Polestar to develop new Android-based infotainment systems that can access all of these functions from one place.
Which phones are compatible with Android Auto?
Now that you know what Android Auto is, let's examine which devices and vehicles are compatible with it. Users running Android OS version 9 or lower must download the free Android Auto application from the Google Play Store. However, Android 10 phones have built-in functionality. Any phone with Android 5.0 and higher has active data plan can power Android Auto so you don't need the latest device to use it.
Your phone must have a working USB port to connect to the car. However, the latest Android phones from Samsung and others support Android auto wireless connections in a small but growing list of vehicles.
Which cars are compatible with Android Auto?
Dozens of new cars are compatible with Android Auto. However, keep in mind that some manufacturers charge buyers additional functions, and others choose not to offer them in cheaper options.
Vehicles compatible with Android Auto include most members of the Mercedes-Benz range, every type plate in the Cadillac portfolio, as well as numerous models from Chevrolet, Kia, Honda, Volvo and Volkswagen. Finding a car-compatible Android car shouldn't be a problem, whether you're buying a cheap hatchback, a rugged SUV, or a high-end sports car. The full list can be found on the Android Auto website.
Lexus and parent company Toyota have been defending Android Auto for years for security and privacy reasons, but both have changed their minds. Several 2020 models – including the Tacoma, Sequoia, Tundra, 4Runner and RX – are compatible with Android Auto. We expect the list to continue to grow in the coming months and years. BMW and Porsche are still Android-free, but Porsche told Digital Trends that this could change soon.
It can be a bit difficult to find a used car that is compatible with Android Auto as it took the car manufacturers a while to get Google into the cabin. Hyundai, Kia, and Chevrolet were among the first companies to build Android auto-compatible cars after the software became available in early 2015. If these do not suit your taste, aftermarket manufacturers such as Kenwood, Panasonic, Pioneer and Sony offer Android compatible head units.
Drivers can work around compatibility issues by downloading Android Auto and using it as a standalone application. Simply start the software and mount your smartphone on your windshield or dashboard. It offers the same functions regardless of whether it is displayed on the touchscreen of a car or on a smartphone. This solution allows anyone to use Android Auto in a 2019 BMW 3 Series, a classic Mini, a 1908 Ford T, or anything in between.

2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Review: Two Things We Like and Two We Don’t
After sampling the updated 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro CrewMax in an off-road park near Dallas, we discovered that this old half-ton truck is still quite capable. The most important 2020 Tundra TRD Pro addition is that the off-road oriented truck is now available in both Double Cab and CrewMax body styles. But that’s not the full story.
Here are two things we liked and two things we didn’t about the 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro.
We Like: Exterior Design
Compared to the rest of the Tundra lineup, the TRD Pro stands out with its big grille and Toyota lettering, as well as its hood scoop and 18-inch black wheels. The new color for the 2020 model year is the Army Green, which is also offered on other TRD Pro models including the Tacoma, 4Runner, and Sequoia. The black door handles contrast well with the color, which brings a different style to the truck.
We Like: Off-Road Performance
The Fox shocks in the front and rear improve the off-road performance of the 2020 Tundra TRD Pro. The ride is cushier with these shocks, which reduce the cabin movement when driving over some big rocks in the off-road park near Dallas. The front skid plate also helped, protecting the underbody when going over the rocks. And with a 31-degree approach angle, the Tundra TRD Pro was able to go through most of the trails without any issues. We’ll have to take the Tundra on a different kind of off-road adventure in Southern California to get a deeper experience off the pavement.
We Don’t Like: Interior
Although Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa come standard with the Tundra TRD Pro, its interior is showing its age. Although we welcome the new 8.0-inch screen and these new technologies, we wish the instrument cluster received an update, as it looks pretty outdated.
We Don’t Like: Powertrain
The standard 5.7-liter V-8 produces 381 hp and 401 lb-ft and is sufficient for those who get the lower trims, but we wish the Tundra offered more engine options. The engine is capable of towing 10,200 pounds, but with the Detroit Three automakers investing in new technologies like Ram’s eTorque engines and Chevy’s four-cylinder engine, Toyota is falling behind. And while all Tundras come with a six-speed automatic, Ford and Chevy offer new transmissions with up to 10 gears. A more modern powertrain would certainly be welcomed.

Which Pickup Trucks Have Apple CarPlay Android Auto
This post was originally published in Trusted Auto Professionals Blog.
Technology is moving an incredible pace, and especially in the automotive world and the smartphone world. Combining those two industries is crucial for safety. Thanks to both auto and phone manufacturers, this is now easier than ever. When pickup trucks have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, everyday smartphone functions become integrated with the vehicle.
2020 Ford F-150 Lariat
It’s plug and play for the most part. No more messing around with Bluetooth if you don’t want to. Phone calls, navigation, messaging and more can all be done hands free. Apps from your phone are visible on the trucks touchscreen and the truck will even read your text messages to you.
There are two systems available depending on whether your smartphone is an Apple or an Android. For Apple users it’s called CarPlay and Android it’s called Android Auto.
So which trucks have Apple CarPlay Android Auto?
RAM Trucks
Ram introduced Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into their trucks in 2018, however not all trim levels have it, so here’s a breakdown list. It really depends on how the truck was ordered from the factory. It’s likely that any 2018 RAM 1500 or newer truck with the 8.4″ touchscreen will have Apple CarPlay or Android. To be sure, here’s what the factory features availability list shows.

Every MLB team’s best Winter Meetings rumor, graded
The Yankees might end up with Noah Syndergaard? The Dodgers might end up with Corey Kluber? It’s not wild yet, but it’s getting there.
Do you like waiver claims? Then, boy, would you have liked the first day of the 2018 MLB Winter Meetings. Carlos Asuaje was claimed! Mike Gerber was claimed! Just a bunch of GMs hanging around Vegas, claiming each other’s stuff when they aren’t looking.
But there are still rumors floating around. Actual rumors. Our job today is to look at these rumors and grade them. More specifically, we need to find the best rumor for each team and grade it.
There aren’t any signings, and there weren’t any great trades. So how are the rumors looking? Are they at least good rumors, the kind that allow us to close our eyes and imagine the sheer chaos and dread?
Some of them, yeah. Here are the hottest rumors around Major League Baseball at the moment:
Arizona Diamondbacks
In wake of Goldschmidt deal, #DBacks drawing trade interest in virtually all their players, but telling clubs they are not interested in a teardown, sources tell The Athletic. AZ open-minded, but will be selective in how it proceeds. Not entering rebuilding mode.
— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) December 10, 2018
Yeah, that’s cute, Diamondbacks, but a team that trades Paul Goldschmidt after losing Patrick Corbin and A.J. Pollock is rebuilding. We don’t make the rules, here. Sorry if that’s a drag, but you literally traded your best player for prospects after losing your best pitcher. Don’t play the semantic shuffle with us.
Now, if the Diamondbacks were saying things like, “Ideally, we’re looking for players ready for the majors or close to it because we’re not interested in a rebuild. We want a quick reload,” I could dig it. As is, though ...
Grade: D
Atlanta Braves
Some teams have gotten the sense the Braves are willing to trade both Inciarte and Foltynewicz. Acuna's presence make Inciarte understandable. To move Folty, the Braves would likely need to fill multiple needs and/or have the confidence another deal would land a front-line SP
— Mark Bowman (@mlbbowman) December 10, 2018
Ah, I love the idea that a win-now team is confident enough to trade one of its better young starters. Because Mike Foltynewicz is young and affordable, he should fetch a high price. Because the Braves are stacked with pitching prospects, they can afford to gamble and trade Foltynewicz at what could be his highest value.
The team that had Mike Minor, Brandon Beachy, and Kris Medlen at the same time should definitely not worry about depth. What’s the worst that could happen?
Or is the argument that a team that had Mike Minor, Brandon Beachy, and Kris Medlen at the same time should be way more inclined to trade a young arm because those things are inherently unpredictable?
I think the larger point is that pitchers are confusing and so are the Braves.
Grade: B+
Baltimore Orioles
Elias said he’s interviewed 6 manager candidates in person. There won’t be any more. #orioles
— Roch Kubatko (@masnRoch) December 11, 2018
See, this is the thing about an abominable team: Even the rumors suck. One of the managerial candidates is Manny Acta, and another one is ... that guy with the hat ... look, I fell asleep reading the list. It’s entirely possible that this manager is the one who shepherds the Orioles back from the abyss — look at how little excitement there was about the Braves and Brian Snitker, for example — but right now, it’s just not a sexy rumor.
The Orioles won’t be a part of a sexy rumor until July 16, 2020. Savor it when it comes. It will be about the Dodgers wanting to trade for the player who breaks out in 2019, but savor it when it comes.
Grade: F
Boston Red Sox
Robertson and Ottavino are believed high on Red Sox list of back-end relief targets. Of course they’d like to have Kimbrel and Kelly back but they are free agents too. Deep pen market also includes Britton, Miller, Familia, more.
— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) December 9, 2018
This is a peak We Just Won The World Series rumor. Just tinkerin’ over here. We have the best team, la la lalala. There will be no JD Martinez this year, and that’s fine. The last one helped them win the World Series, after all.
Grade: C
Chicago Cubs
Several teams have inquired on Cubs slugger Kyle Schwarber but they’ve all gotten the same response from #Cubs. No, he’s not available
— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) December 9, 2018
Is there anything more boring than a We Just Won The World Series rumor? Yes. The Cubs aren’t in on Bryce Harper. They don’t have Patrick Corbin. They’re not trading for Sonny Gray. We don’t even have a stray Sonny Gray rumor. Every team has a stray Sonny Gray rumor.
This, of course, means that they’re going to trade Kyle Hendricks and Anthony Rizzo in a six-way deal for Kyler Murray and Aaron Judge. But for now ...
Grade: F
Chicago White Sox
From Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe:
They are still taking calls on first baseman Jose Abreu, but there’s an organizational debate on whether they should move him before the big money starts or keep him.
It’s a boring rumor, but don’t forget that the White Sox still have one piece to pawn. I know they don’t want to trade Abreu after his worst season, but if teams are interested in your soon-to-be expensive, two-tool, 32-year-old first baseman, you have to consider it.
(And if you’re the Rockies, a team that’s struggled to find half-decent first basement since Justin Morneau left, you have to be curious about the giant dinger monster that the bad team is curiously reluctant to deal.)
Grade: B
Cincinnati Reds
#Yankees shooting high with Sonny Gray, asked #Reds about 1 of top prospects, OF Taylor Trammell, which was a no go. Sign NYY can get something good for Gray or that they simply or asking high before settling low, Could also always partner with a prospect to get more.
— Joel Sherman (@Joelsherman1) December 10, 2018
BRIAN CASHMAN: It’s like that scene from The Office where Michael Scott puts his own name under Wayne Gretzky’s “You miss 100 percent of the shots that you don’t take” quote.
— Grant Brisbee
Grade: B+
Cleveland Indians
From Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer:
The Tampa Bay Rays, coming off an unexpected 90-win season, are looking to upgrade their offense for the season ahead in the AL East.
They’re evaluating several players who could help them, including Yandy Diaz and Edwin Encarnacion of the Indians.
Those are two very different things! Edwin Encarnacion is an ultra-expensive 36-year-old who just put up his worst OPS+ in seven years, and it came with a noticeable decline in his contact and walk rates. Yandy Diaz is a young, inexpensive 27-year-old who probably should have had a job somewhere two years ago. The former makes no sense. The latter makes all of the sense.
Grant Brisbee is in the market for a 2011 Toyota Tundra with 115,000 miles or a new spice rack.
Well, I guess both of those are true, so I stand corrected. Perhaps it’s a package thing, where the Rays take on Encarnacion’s $25.7 million salary and raise their payroll to $26 million, and their reward is a nice, owner-friendly player with oodles of potential. I don’t know if this works, but it’s a heckuva rumor.
Grade: A
Colorado Rockies
Rockies are serious about upgrading at first base. They made a sincere trade offer to Arizona for Paul Goldschmidt before his trade to St. Louis, Jeff Bridich said. He was not, however, surprised by the Cardinals as Goldschmidt’s end spot.
— Nick Groke (@nickgroke) December 11, 2018
Since Todd Helton retired in 2013, the Rockies have had exactly one season with a first baseman who finished with 2 WAR, and that was in 2014. They spent a lot of money to get a shortstop-turned-outfielder to play first, and that was a debacle.
They should probably get serious about upgrading at first base.
Grade: B+
Detroit Tigers
Source: #Dodgers interested in #Tigers OF Nick Castellanos via trade, but there’s no present momentum toward a deal. Dodgers active on numerous fronts and Castellanos is not their highest priority. @MLBNetwork @MLB
— Jon Morosi (@jonmorosi) December 11, 2018
Like the White Sox and Abreu, it’s Sunday afternoon at 2:40 p.m., and the garage sale weekend is almost over. If you want a handful of Herb Alpert records, you can just take them. But there’s still something there, something in the corner. Something valuable ... yes, this just might be ...
Castellanos can hit. He should also be kept away from a National League team by a court order. So while the idea makes sense, I’m not sure the destination does. The Tigers should definitely get something while the numbers are up, though, and I would definitely expect him to move this winter.
Grade: B+
Houston Astros
From Buster Olney:
On paper, Eovaldi seemed like the perfect fit for the Houston Astros, who have a history of taking pitchers with really good arms and making them better. But the Astros never really engaged on the right-hander
From Evan Drellich:
There were 4 finalists for Nate Eovaldi, source says. Eovaldi himself said he gave a lot of consideration to Houston bc it's home. Angels indeed one of the other. Yankees were in on Eovaldi, but may not have been finalist. Eovaldi decided early he would only go to winning team.
— Evan Drellich (@EvanDrellich) December 10, 2018
RUMOR FIGHT RUMOR FIGHT RUMOR FIGHT
This isn’t to pick on either writer, just a note that these conflicting notes are about a deal that’s already done. There’s no reason for skulduggery from the teams involved at this point. And if cables can get crossed in that situation, imagine how screwed up rumors can get when they’re being spread by teams looking to gain an advantage over their rivals.
What I’m trying to say is this is all useless and we’d be much better off not following any of this until March 1.
But then we’d miss out on the endorphins. Open wide and eat your endorphins.
(There aren’t a lot of good Astros rumors right now, just like with the Cubs and Red Sox. Winning the World Series makes you soft, kids.)
Grade: F
Kansas City Royals
Dayton Moore on if he's still getting calls about Whit Merrifield: "Not as much. We’ve pretty much made it clear we want Whit Merrifield to be part of our team."
— Jeffrey Flanagan (@FlannyMLB) December 10, 2018
There are approximately 48 different second basemen available, either through trades or free agency, so don’t blame the Royals here. There’s also no shame in keeping at least one fan favorite around. It’s a long season, and you still want to sell tickets.
Keep this good player. For the fans. They’re so cold and lonely.
It’s a pretty lousy rumor, though.
Grade: D (upgraded from F because it’s kind of unfair that a Billy Hamilton rumor would have improved their grade substantially)
Los Angeles Angels
There were 4 finalists for Nate Eovaldi, source says. Eovaldi himself said he gave a lot of consideration to Houston bc it's home. Angels indeed one of the other. Yankees were in on Eovaldi, but may not have been finalist. Eovaldi decided early he would only go to winning team.
— Evan Drellich (@EvanDrellich) December 10, 2018
The Angels are so lame, I had to reuse a tweet for the first time. They want a starting pitcher, and until they get one, I’m putting the ENTIRE blame for the slow Winter Meetings on them. Once they get someone/anyone, the floodgates will open. Until then, here’s a rumor about someone they almost got.
I was almost on Wheel of Fortune once. That knowledge is just as valuable to me as almost getting Eovaldi should be to the Angels.
Grade: F
Los Angeles Dodgers
Source: #Indians interested in #Dodgers OF Alex Verdugo as part of Corey Kluber trade talks. Cleveland is looking for outfield bats, and Verdugo is the Dodgers' top prospect, according to @MLBPipeline. @MLB @MLBNetwork
— Jon Morosi (@jonmorosi) December 10, 2018
Yes, yes, yes. This is a prime Kobe rumor, fed beer and massaged to encourage marbling. You have a pair of perennial contenders discussing wild permutations and possibilities, with names you’ve heard of.
I still don’t have any idea why the Indians are interested in trading Kluber, but I guess they’re looking to sustain this run of three straight World Series titles. The rumor is a banger, though.
Grade: A+
Miami Marlins
Yankees do like Gary Sanchez very much, as they’ve said, so not sure how Realmuto deal would work for them. It’s been suggested Yankees involvement could be 3-way situation with them being the conduit.
— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) December 11, 2018
I don’t enjoy giving the Marlins a hard time, but it’s hard not to, considering they ditched an all-time outfield without having a top-100 prospect to show for it. This, though, is a rumor I can get behind. The Yankees get a sure thing, a two-way catcher who just might be the best in baseball. The Marlins get a buy-low potential superstar with some scrapes but nothing that the body shop can’t buff out?
It’s a great balance of present and future, with risks and rewards for both. Great rumor.
Grade: A
Milwaukee Brewers
From Robert Murray of the Athletic:
Sources tell The Athletic that the Brewers have expressed interest in free-agent second baseman Daniel Murphy, as well as retaining free-agent third baseman Mike Moustakas.
Still think they could use a starting pitcher or two, and this is a market that features several of them, but a solid second baseman is a pretty good start, especially one on a shorter-term deal who wouldn’t block Keston Hiura.
It’s boring, but pragmatic. This is a rumor with fiber.
Grade: B
Minnesota Twins
When in Vegas... #MNTwins seem to be kicking the tires on a few more FAs. Have inquired on Soria, Cahill, + Ramos. Ramos is said to be in Vegas. The Twins have NOT requested a face-to-face to this point. We'll see if interest turns serious on any of those guys.
— Darren Wolfson (@DWolfsonKSTP) December 10, 2018
The Twins are the hardest team to peg in baseball, two years removed from a postseason berth and just a couple months removed from a dull, pointless season. So this rumor makes sense. Reliever! Back-end starter! Win-now catcher! It’s all over the place.
At least it looks like they’re trying, though. At least it looks like they’re trying. That means something in 2018.
Grade: C
New York Mets
Their best rumor was this at one point ...
The Mets had a meeting with Wilson Ramos today.
— Mike Puma (@NYPost_Mets) December 11, 2018
... and that’s a B-rumor, at best. Ramos fits the Mets, for sure, but that’s just not a sexy rumor. Even the tweet is just a single sentence, completely self-aware about its general okayness.
IT’S CERTAINLY NOT A RUMOR LIKE THIS:
#Mets have discussed trade in which they would land J.T. Realmuto in three-team deal with #Yankees and #Marlins, sources tell The Athletic. Not known if Syndergaard involved. NYM would not part with Syndergaard (three years control) if getting only Realmuto (two years) in return.
— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) December 11, 2018
PRrrrrroowwwwwww goes the power chord as you windmill the guitar until the E string breaks and sparks shoot out behind you.
The best part about a rumor like this is that you can’t hate it! I have no idea what permutation gets Realmuto on the Mets with Syndergaard going the other way. Maybe Gleyber Torres comes to the Mets? Does that sound stupid? Too much? Too little?
Look, I have no idea how any of this works, and it’s beautiful. What a rumor.
Grade: A+++++
New York Yankees
Cashman pretty much ruled out Harper: “The Harper stuff, I’m surprised you are still asking.” #Yankees
— Joel Sherman (@Joelsherman1) December 10, 2018
They can claim some of the pluses from that previous grade, but this is still a rumor that says, “The Yankees aren’t looking to be the Yankees that you remember.” The 2003 Yankees would have signed Harper by now. The 2018 Yankees are cosplaying as the modest Cardinals, and it’s annoying.
Grade: D
Oakland A’s
From Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle:
According to an industry source, Oakland has expressed interest in free agent D.J. LeMahieu
Perhaps the best fit of any rumor here. LeMahieu plays defense, and while Coors Field overrated his offense, he can still hit a little bit. The glut of second basemen means that his market should be owner-friendly, which is great if you’re rooting for the owners.
This definitely has a chance.

Philadelphia Phillies
The #Phillies have had ongoing dialogue with LHP J.A. Happ over the last several days, according to sources. The Phillies have a long shopping list. But Happ appears to be their best fit, as a LH with experience in Philadelphia who won't require a long deal. Still seeking 3 years
— Jayson Stark (@jaysonst) December 10, 2018
“Ongoing dialogue” is an underrated Winter Meetings phrase. That dialogue could be about employment. It could also be about whether the SNES or Genesis was better. It’s wide open if you use your imagination.
But Mr. Stark’s overall point — that the Phillies are a great fit for Happ — is sound. Every win-now team should be giddy about someone like Happ, who gives them a strong chance next year without requiring a messy fourth or fifth year at the end of his contract.

Pittsburgh Pirates
Pirates GM Neal Huntington on listening to trade offers for players nearing free agency: "In Cervelli, Dickerson and Nova’s case, they fit really well for us. So it’s going to have to be something that makes sense for us in the big picture to have us entertain that."
— Adam Berry (@adamdberry) December 11, 2018
Didn’t the Pirates just give up a tremendous amount of talent for Chris Archer? Aren’t they all in? Or are they kinda sorta in but also listening to trade offers if it allows them to kick the can down the road a couple of years? And if that’s the case, why did they do that thing for Archer again?
If they’re going to trade that much for Archer, shouldn’t they surround him with free agents that break the Russell Martin threshold and become the highest paid Pirates mercenaries ever? Is it possible to talk about the Pirates without constantly reverting to upspeak?

San Diego Padres
Padres, the most rumored team for a Syndergaard trade, as of this moment “don’t look like a great fit.” Mets want 2019 impact so it’s no surprise they seek Fernando Tatis Jr.; SD has made him untouchable.
— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) December 9, 2018
I get it. It’s because Syndergaard is creating thunder and spraying the earth with lightning. That’s why he’s a part of all the best trade rumors of the last year.
The Mets would want Tatis because they’re looking to win in 2019 and also save various Wilpons money over the next few years. The Padres would want Syndergaard because they’re angling to be this year’s version of the Braves, where they arrive just a touch earlier than expected, and they want a unicorn of a starting pitcher in place if that happens.
Great rumor. A completely ludicrous paring of teams, but that’s why it’s so great.

San Francisco Giants
Several teams have expressed interest in 1B Brandon Belt, who’s available, in talks with the #SFGiants
— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) December 10, 2018
Brandon Belt would hit 30 homers with a .400 OBP in Yankee Stadium. I love watching him, and he’s clearly the Giants’ best hitter, but sometimes birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright.
The fact that several teams are interested gives you a hint that their computers are spitting out reams of paper that detail just how much AT&T Park screws him. It’s almost — almost — enough to make me want the Rockies to pursue him.
Seattle Mariners
Hrmm, my editors are telling me that’s not a real tweet and is something that I made up. One second.
...
You know, there really aren’t any good rumors here. Jerry Dipoto doesn’t need your stinking rumors. He prefers to hide in the bushes with a trade and spring out, “GRRRRAAHHHHHFRRRH” and scare the hell out of you. It’s his thing.

St. Louis Cardinals
Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch had, like, six dozen rumors packed into one post. As a rumor connoisseur, allow me to take a quick break and share my appreciation for a column like this.
I’ve been doing a lot of research with old issues of The Sporting News, and it’s made me appreciate the format of a pre-Twitter world. There aren’t single names or trade possibilities barfed out for retweets to improve brand awareness. There were densely packed articles that walked you through all of the scuttlebutt and tried to make sense of it. Nick Cafardo’s weekly column is another one that deserves praise in a Twitter world.
Anyway, just read the column if you have any interest in what the Cardinals are doing. It’s a lot better than 140 characters of “HEARD THIS.”

Tampa Bay Rays
From Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times:
Among several options the Rays have explored to sign or trade for a starting pitcher, they’ve expressed interest and had initial conversations with free-agent RHP Charlie Morton.
Hell yes, this is a fine rumor. But I’m not sure if I should be this proud of the Rays spending just a little bit. They’re a solid collection of on-field and front-office talent that should absolutely believe in themselves. They can afford a free agent or two, right?
Right?

Texas Rangers
From Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:
They have already received calls from most MLB teams on right-hander Jose Leclerc, who finished 2018 as the closer and was one of the game’s top relievers. The Rangers have a glut of left-handed-hitting corner outfielders, and Daniels has indicated a willingness to move one of them.
Jose Leclerc didn’t allow a run after July 25th. He’s incredibly awesome.

Also, the Rangers should absolutely trade him for a billion prospects. This is a bird in the hand who is worth six birds in future bushes, but you can also trade him for nine birds in future bushes. In this metaphor, the birds are prospects, unless the bushes are. Either way, every bad team that stumbles upon a magic young relief ace should cash that chip in IMMEDIATELY.

Toronto Blue Jays
#BlueJays met with five teams and five firms at winter meetings today. Doesn’t sound like anything is imminent. Ross Atkins described the interest in Stroman/Sanchez as “significant” but said they’re so talented it would “very difficult” to get equal return.
— Shi Davidi (@ShiDavidi) December 11, 2018
This is rumor non-speak.
We have good players, but we’ll need to get even better players back if we trade them.
Though I do appreciate the in-or-out quandary the Blue Jays are in. It’s the same one they’ve been stuck in for about two decades, give or take a Bautista bat flip, but I wouldn’t know what to do with them either.

Washington Nationals
From Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post:
As Boras sees it, (Mark) Lerner violated that provision when he said in a radio interview on 106.7 the Fan that the Nationals did “the best we could do” by offering Harper $300 million over 10 years in September.
The Nationals are out? The Nationals are out! I dismissed the idea that they would pay so much for Patrick Corbin that they would give up on Bryce Harper, but I guess I shouldn’t have. There’s apparently a younger Lerner in charge, and we should never underestimate the ability of a next-generation rich dude to outthink himself.
They should probably re-sign Harper, y’all.
