TPMS DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION – GMC Acadia 2007-2020
After the TREAD Act was mandated in 2007, all vehicles manufactured in the United States beginning in 2008, must be installed with direct or indirect TPMS systems.
The GMC Acadia is manufactured with a direct TPMS system, which means TPMS sensors are installed in the wheel. If one or more tires indicate low tire pressure, the TPMS sensors will transfer the information to the vehicle’s ECU. An indicator light (low-line TPMS system) or each tire pressure will show on the dash (high-line TPMS system).
When a sensor is replaced in one or more tires, one or more wheels are replaced or tires are rotated in a GMC Acadia, a manual (stationary) or OBD TPMS relearn is recommended to transfer new and/or existing TPMS sensor ID’s to the vehicle’s ECU.

Direct TPMS, sensors are installed in the wheel
All OE and aftermarket TPMS part numbers and service kit replacement options for the GMC Acadia can be found in the VT56 in “Service TPMS”.

Troubleshooting tips
Tip 1:
The owner’s manual on the GMC Acadia states, “There are two minutes to match the first tire/wheel position, and five minutes overall to match all four tire/wheel positions. If it takes longer, the matching process stops and must be restarted.”
If the horn chirps twice before all steps have been performed or sensors have been activated, the relearn procedure most likely has failed and the ID’s did not transfer correctly, which means the procedure has to start over again.

The solution? For most GMC vehicles, the bonus OBD relearn procedure is available for the ATEQ VT56, thanks to patented Sync-ID technology. This advanced feature allows the user to perform an OBD relearn to turn the light off, with minimal to no driving time required to turn the light off, saving the technician time and the customer labor costs. It takes two minutes or less to perform an OBD relearn procedure on a GMC Acadia, and requires just one relearn procedure to memorize for various vehicle Makes.

Lowering the driver’s side window may help complete the process for larger GMC vehicles
Tip 3:
GMC recommends rotating tires every 7,500 miles (12 000 kilometers). Tire rotation helps with even wear for all tires and is important for balanced handling on the road, which can extend the life of tires and save money in the long-run. When tires are rotated, GMC recommends resetting the TPMS system by performing a TPMS relearn to transfer the new location of the TPMS sensors to the vehicle’s ECU.

It is also recommended to do a TPMS reset after a wheel or sensor replacement.
Tip 4:
The GMC Acadia was manufactured with 315 MHz TPMS sensors from 2007 through the first half of the production year. From the second half of the production year, the GMC Acadia is manufactured with 433 MHz TPMS sensors. Be sure to check the tool in the CHECK TPMS icon on the VT56, VT46, VT36 or VT31 tools to see which sensor frequency you are working with before replacing a TPMS sensor.

The Yukon AT4 is GMC’s full-size sport-utility vehicle, and a sibling of the Chevrolet Tahoe and Cadillac Escalade.

GMC struck gold with its Denali sub-brand, a top-of-the-line GMC trim level commanding an average transaction price higher than Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar and BMW. For 2020, GMC expanded its new AT4 trim level across its line-up, including the Yukon, with prices slightly less than a Denali, but offering much of its premium allure, but with a bit more attention to off-road prowess. 
Overview
The Yukon is GMC’s full-size sport-utility vehicle, and a sibling of the Chevrolet Tahoe and Cadillac Escalade. These trucks are cash cows, sharing their mechanical underpinnings with GM’s pickups and boasting similar manners and personality.

For 2021, the Yukon gains an off-road-oriented AT4 model, which offers much, but not all, of the Denali’s luxury, with an emphasis on off-road capability. Yukon trim levels start with the SLE, and climb through SLT, AT4 and Denali trim levels. Rear-wheel drive is standard on all trim levels except the AT4, which has standard four-wheel drive. Otherwise, it’s a $3,000 option.
Exterior
The Yukon’s aggressive slab-sided styling augments its oversized demeanor. This is no shrinking violet. Opting for the AT4 trim nets an oversized smoked gray grille and off-road styling details. But the best parts of the Yukon’s design details, like its hook-shaped lighting, lend it an updated, modern appearance.

The cabin’s instrument panel is accented with upscale materials, although it lacks the sort of truly opulent trim you’d expect given its upmarket status.

As you’d expect, the AT4 is fitted with underbody skid plates for ventures off-road, although given its girth, not scratching the side of the vehicle is a bigger concern once the sidewalk ends. Our vehicle had optional power retractable running boards, which are a boon for climbing up to the Yukon’s cabin.
Interior
Boasting three rows of seats and nearly 123 cubic feet of cargo space with the second and third rows folded, this truck is extraordinarily spacious, with chair-high seating covered in leather and accented with decorative stitching that denotes its upscale status. Head and leg room are generous. The cabin’s instrument panel is accented with upscale materials, although it lacks the sort of truly opulent trim you’d expect given its upmarket status. And some of its plastic trim seemed too downscale for the vehicle’s price and profit margin.
But it’s extraordinarily quiet at speed, at least if your spouse or significant other isn’t nagging you.

Notably, much of the Yukon’s opulence comes from the options list, specifically, its $9,145 Premium Plus Package, which adds a dual pane panoramic sunroof, rear seat 12.6-inchHD LCD screens, second-row heated bucket seats and second-row console, along with numerous other items.
Powertrain
The AT4 comes with a standard overhead-valve 5.3-liter V-8, 10-speed automatic and four-wheel drive. The Yukon AT4 can tow up to 7,700 pounds and has a substantial 1,702 pound payload rating. Other Yukon models can tow as much as 8,200 pounds. Opting for the pricier Denali nets a more powerful 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V-8. Other trim levels can be fitted with a 3.0-liter dual-overhead-cam inline 6-cylinder turbodiesel rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

Given the AT4’s price, you’d expect a mountain of standard driver-assistance safety gear — and you get it: automatic emergency braking, forward-collision alert, front and rear park assist, following distance indicator, front pedestrian braking, automatic high beams, lane-change alert, side blind zone alert, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, safety alert seat, head-up display and rear pedestrian alert are all standard. The test vehicle included optional trailer side blind zone alert, an in-vehicle trailering app, a trailer brake controller, trailer hitch guidance and a head-up display.
The Yukon is equipped to keep you in touch with the wireless world with a standard 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, as well as standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. A 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and navigation system are optional.

Driving Impressions
The Yukon AT4’s size is ever-present, easily filling lanes and parking spaces. So, driving in urban environments calls for care. There’s decent power when launching from a standing start, and there’s more than enough power once the 10-speed transmission downshifts. Fuel economy is unremarkable, coming in at 16.1 mpg, which included a fair amount of highway driving. 
Body lean is evident in corners, and the suspension’s off-road tuning produces less undulation over bumps than you might expect, at least with the optional air suspension and electronic limited slip differential. Steering lacks feel but is nicely weighted and quick enough for its task. The AT4’s air suspension system raises ride height by an additional two inches vs. the standard suspension. 
When combined with the Yukon’s garden-shed-like size and styling, it can make people or objects impossible to see near the vehicle without its surround-view cameras. Notably, the Yukon now uses a multi-link rear suspension that also improves ride quality compared to previous renditions.

The 2022 GMC Yukon AT4 is another unique flavor among GM SUVs, yet it doesn’t seem to be particularly compelling. Like its stablemates, it’s sizable. Ford Mustang Mach-E
What’s New: The latest addition to the Mustang model line is a battery-electric crossover four-door SUV. Really. Although the Mach-E looks nothing like any Mustang before it, the Blue Oval’s EV certainly packs the straight-line punch to woo pony car fans. The most powerful model—the nearly 460-hp Mach-E GT—aims to scoot from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. The slinky crossover relies on one of two available battery packs to power its standard rear-axle motor and optional front-axle motor: a 76-kW-hr Standard Range pack or a 99-kW-hr Extended Range setup. Ford estimates a maximum driving range of 300 miles between charges for rear-drive Mach-Es equipped with the Extended Range battery, though a heavy right foot will surely drag down that distance.
What’s Not: Save for its Mustang nomenclature, the Mach-E shares little else with any Ford before it.

Genesis GV80
What’s New: At long last, the Genesis brand’s first SUV is launching for the 2021 model year. The GV80 is a midsize, rear-drive-based SUV with seating for five. The GV80 will be plenty luxurious in base form, offering extra-posh features such as diamond-stitched leather, ash wood trim, augmented reality navigation, and more at a competitive price. Engine choices for the U.S. will include a 2.5-liter turbocharged I-4 making 300 hp and a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 good for 375 hp. Both engines will come mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
What’s Not: The GV80 is all-new from the ground up, but the design hasn’t changed much from the excellent concept we first saw in 2017.

Cadillac Escalade/Escalade ESV
What’s New: Cadillac shares its stretched, independently suspended architecture, 6.2-liter V-8 and I-6 diesel engines, and 10-speed transmission with the Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon. It justifies its hefty price premium with such tech treasures as 38 inches of curved OLED display screen, augmented reality navigation, Super Cruise, night vision, and AKG Studio Reference 36-speaker sound. New for 2021, a Sport model features blackout trim. Cadillac offers eight interior color themes that can be decorated with myriad woods and leather sew patterns. Standard-wheelbase versions will launch late this year, with the Suburban-size ESV following in early 2021.
What’s Not: Platinum remains the ne plus ultra trim grade.

Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban
What’s New: Nearly everything, but most important: an independent rear suspension. This change, plus the addition of 4.9 and 6.8 inches to the Tahoe’s wheelbase and length (Suburban adds 4.1 and 1.3 inches) aims to again wrest dimensional and ride/handling superiority from Ford’s Expedition/Max. Fourth-gen magnetic ride control shocks are optional, with the upper trims getting MR plus height-adjustable air suspension. There’s a new 270-hp, 460-lb-ft 3.0-liter I-6 diesel option, and all models get a 10-speed automatic. The fancier High Country trim helps keep the Chevy faithful from straying to Yukon Denalis.
What’s Not: The 5.3- and 6.2-liter V-8s continue, adding DFM cylinder deactivation; 2500 and 3500 variants are dropped.

GMC Yukon/Yukon XL
What’s New: To everything mentioned in Chevy’s Tahoe/Suburban entry, add GMC’s AT4 off-road-optimized package, which builds on Chevy’s Z71 hardware, for both Yukons. It adds Active Response 4WD electronics plus an electric-locking limited-slip differential, red tow hooks, and more luxurious interior trim. Denali models (60 percent of sales) get a unique dash with integrated touchscreen—rather than one perched on top. There are also real wood inserts, a 15-inch color head-up display, four color themes, and a GMC-exclusive power-sliding center console with a “safe drawer.”
What’s Not: The level of exterior bling on Denali models.

Ford Bronco Sport
What’s New: The Ford Bronco Sport is the rugged cousin to the Ford Escape, which it shares underpinnings with. The off-road-focused compact SUV is unibody and front-wheel-drive based, but Ford considers it part of the Bronco family, and as such it shares some styling cues with the larger, body-on-frame Bronco. The Bronco Sport is expected to have the 180-hp 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder as its base engine and an optional 250-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, both mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive will likely be standard. The look is boxier and more upright than the rounded, urban Escape—with shorter overhangs, underbody protection, a two-piece liftgate, chunky roof rails, and black plastic fenders. In keeping with Ford’s overall plans, there will be a hybrid or plug-in hybrid version.
What’s Not: It shares its front-wheel-drive platform and its engines with the Ford Escape.

Nissan Rogue
What’s New: Nissan’s best-seller is moving to a new platform shared with Renault and Mitsubishi alliance to keep it among the top 10 best-selling vehicles in America. What you’ll see and touch has been brought into line with Nissan’s latest styling language inside and out. We expect Nissan’s latest 2.5-liter inline-four under the hood driving the front (or all four) wheels, and there’s also the possibility Nissan will put its clever VC-Turbo inline-four under the hood of a sporty model. No matter what, expect a continuously variable transmission. Inside, look for an optional digital dash and a 9.0-inch infotainment screen borrowed from the new Titan.
What’s Not: We expect the new Rogue to ride on the same platform as before, and a number of its parts and features will be shared from other Nissan products.

Volkswagen Tiguan
What’s New: Volkswagen’s global best-seller is due up for a refresh, and you’ll recognize it right away with its sportier nose job and all-LED external lighting front and back. Inside, the Tiguan gets a sportier steering wheel, borrowed from the larger Atlas Cross Sport, and VW’s latest infotainment system with over-the-air update capability. Also available: multicolor interior ambient lighting to set the mood.
What’s Not: Everything else. Volkswagen is considering a plug-in hybrid drivetrain option for the next-generation Tiguan, but for now, it sticks with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic.

Alfa Romeo Tonale
What’s New: Alfa needs to expand its lineup, and fast. SUVs are hot, so next up is the subcompact Tonale to slot under the compact Stelvio. We expect it to be front-drive based with the option of all-wheel drive, and it will use FCA’s small SUV architecture. The Tonale Concept was powered by an unspecified plug-in hybrid drivetrain, which we think could be the 1.3-liter turbo-four in front and electric motor in the rear used by the Europe-only Jeep Renegade plug-in hybrid, which makes 240 hp total. We also think the Alfa will get a non-hybrid option, probably a 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4.
What’s Not: The Tonale will share a platform and likely powertrains with other FCA small crossovers, such as the Jeep Renegade.
When: Early 2021
How Much: $35,000 (est)
Audi E-Tron Sportback
What’s New: Although it’s essentially a fastback version of the E-Tron SUV, with a new roof, new rear quarter panels, and a new tailgate, the E-Tron Sportback has a more carlike presence, like a tall hatchback rather than an SUV trying to look sporty. The Sportback will benefit from a number of technical upgrades from Audi designed to boost range. The front motor will disengage under normal driving, the 95-kW-hr battery’s thermal management system has been made more efficient, and the battery’s usable capacity has been increased to 86.5 kW-hr. As with the regular E-Tron, the well-equipped Sportback will be available in Premium Plus and Prestige trim levels.

What’s New: Completely redesigned, the Sorento receives a new windswept exterior design. Kia also upgrades the interior with a large screen and sleek controls. Expect ride quality to improve now that the SUV sits on a new platform. New engine options should give the Sorento an extra pep in its step. A 1.6-liter turbo-four works with an electric motor to produce 227 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, and a 2.5-liter turbo-four makes 277 hp and 311 lb-ft.
What’s Not: Some styling cues reference the Telluride, including the vertical taillights.

Volkswagen ID 4
What’s New: Volkswagen has learned Americans aren’t much interested in hatchbacks, which is why the first of its all-electric MEB-platform vehicles to arrive stateside will be an SUV. The ID 4 is about the size of Tiguan, but the interior is much roomier. The MEB architecture follows the now-familiar skateboard platform, with a large battery pack between the wheels and motors at the axles. The base ID 4 is likely to be a single-motor rear-drive model, with a GTX version offering two motors, all-wheel drive, and more performance. Top-end ID 4s are expected to have a range of close to 300 miles.
What’s Not: The interior hardware is shared with the ID 3 hatch recently launched in Europe, with a compact digital instrument panel in front of the driver and a large centrally mounted touchscreen for infotainment and HVAC functions.

Volvo XC40 Recharge
What’s New: The XC40 Recharge marks the debut of Volvo’s first-ever all-electric powertrain. The Recharge shares Volvo’s Compact Modular Architecture with the regular XC40, but there’s a liquid-cooled 78-kW-hr battery pack under the floor and a motor on each axle. Volvo claims 408 hp and 487 lb-ft of torque and a 0–60 time of 4.9 seconds. As with all new Volvos, top speed will be limited to 112 mph. Volvo does its own battery research and development in-house and says the available capacity of the battery pack will be 75 kW-hr, which should easily give the XC40 Recharge a range of 240 miles or more.
What’s Not: Apart from the blanked-off grille, the XC40 Recharge looks just like a regular XC40. That’s no bad thing, as Volvo’s entry-level SUV is one of the most stylish in the segment.

Polestar 2
What’s New: Polestar 2 is the second model for the Scandinavian brand spun off from Volvo to concentrate on performance electric vehicles. Polestar 1 was a plug-in hybrid, but Polestar 2 is a mainstream all-electric premium four-door sedan to battle the Tesla Model 3. The 2 will have a range of about 275 miles with the 78-kW-hr battery in the floor. Front and rear motors provide a combined output of 400 hp and 487 lb-ft of torque. A vegan interior is optional, the infotainment system uses an Android operating system to run Google automotive services, and the advanced tech allows the car to try to anticipate the occupants’ needs.
What’s Not: It features an adaptation of the Volvo CMA architecture used by the Volvo XC40 and the Volvo 11-inch Sensus infotainment screen.

How Much: $63,000 (est)
Fisker Ocean
What’s New: Longtime BMW and Aston Martin designer—and creator of the ill-fated Fisker Karma—Henrik Fisker has bounced back with a green-friendly, five-passenger EV crossover called the Ocean. The Ocean checks all the contemporary EV boxes—up to 300 miles of range, battery capacity north of 80 kW-hr, base 2WD and available AWD, a cool 16-inch center-mounted touchscreen with a haptic touchpad, and a charging partnership with Electrify America. Fun features? A novel multilink rear suspension, a roll-down rear-hatch window for carrying long objects, and karaoke words displayed on the head-up display. The Ocean will be significantly composed of recycled materials such as retrieved ocean plastics and old fishing net.
What’s Not: Although the Fisker name is familiar, everything about the Ocean is new, including the company behind the name.

Today we’ll be reviewing a jump starter with a rather exciting name – the Red Fuel powered by Schumacher SL65 Jump Starter!  Yes, it’s a bit of a mouth full but the real question is, does this device live up to its illustrious name, or is this one of Schumacher’s rare failures in the jump starter space? Here’s a quick summary of the review if you're in a hurry: SUMMARY: Overall, the Red Fuel SL65 is a decent, compact jump starter, with an attractive design, backed by one of the biggest names in the industry – Schumacher.  It has reasonable jump starting power for its size (400A peak, 200A cranking) and okay battery capacity (8000mAh).  It is perfectly capable of jump starting small cars (4-6 cylinder gas), motorcycles and scooters. On the negative side, by modern standards, the SL65 is somewhat limited in functionality, especially with respect to DC outlets, not having ports for charging laptops or other 12V devices.  It also lacks the ability to be recharged via a car’s cigarette lighter port and doesn’t have a cigarette lighter adapter to connect a portable air compressor or car power inverter for powering AC devices while outdoors. In this review we will be going in-depth, looking at both the good and the bad of the Red Fuel jump starter.  This will include a look at what customers that have bought the Red Fuel are saying about it as well as some other jump starters you might want to consider.  We’ll then end off with our conclusions about the SL65. Red Fuel Powered by Schumacher Review – The Good
Compact Design The first aspect of the Schumacher Red Fuel that grabs your attention, besides the name, is the striking design and relatively compact dimensions of the unit. At just 7.9 x 4.3 x 2.8 inches, the unit is perhaps a little large for a shirt or pants pocket, but can certainly fit into a small carry bag or backpack.  This means it can happily serve as a powerbank, in addition to its primary jump starter function, for your USB rechargeable devices.

Of course, it will also fit into the smallest of glove compartments whilst still leaving space for other essentials.  We personally love compact jump starters – we never seize to be amazed at how such small devices can actually get your engine started when you have a dead battery. We have, in fact, done an extensive review of the best lithium ion jump starters, where we go over what exactly to look for in these devices to be sure you're making the best choice for your vehicle. We also compare them to their much larger SLA based cousins. Check it out - it's a good read! The size of the Schumacher stands in stark contrast to some of the company's other offerings.  The DSR 122, for example, is a colossal unit, although it does include a battery charger and it will last a fair bit longer between charges!

Reasonable Jump Starting Ability So with this small size, you might be asking “How well does the Red Fuel SL65 actually perform? Is it only really capable of jump starting my daughter’s scooter or will it actually work on my car as well?” Well, the unit has a reported 400A peak jump starting current and 200A of cranking current.  This we feel is reasonable and it should be able to get a standard 4 or 6 cylinder family car jump started without a problem.  Do not however expect it to start your Toyota Tundra or Ford F-350.  It will also struggle with most diesel engine vehicles since these require more jump starting force than gas engines. It is really important to understand the limitations of your jump starter – the Red Fuel is really only designed for small cars, motorcycles and scooters. There are jump starters with much large jump starting currents available suitable for large family vehicles, SUV and even trucks.  Some great options are the NOCO Boost HD GB70 2000 Amp and the Imazing 2500A 21000mAh Jumper Pack.  These have 5 to 6 times the jump starting current than the Red Fuel.  At the end of the day, it’s all down to what you need. Good Battery Capacity In terms of capacity, the Schumacher Red Fuel comes with 8000mAh from its lithium ion battery pack.  This is reportedly sufficient to jump start a car up to 20 times between charges.  This is seriously pushing it and we certainly wouldn’t recommend testing this out.  This capacity should also be good for charging your smart phone from flat approximately 1.5 times It is always our recommendation that you should recharge your jump starter as soon as possible after it’s been used.  This is to ensure it’s ready for an emergency and to maximize the lifespan of the device. Multi-functionality and Safety The Red Fuel Schumacher comes with a respectable feature set.  It includes 2 USB ports, one 1A and the other 2.1A so that you can charge two devices at once.  It also has a flashlight which is handy at night.  This is by no means ground-breaking by today’s standards, as discussed shortly, but a decent offering in order to keep the price of the unit down.

In terms of safety, Schumacher has really equipped the Red Fuel SL65 with all of the features including: reverse polarity, short circuit, low voltage, high temperature, and reverse charging.  You can rest assured that you will be as safe as possible when using the SL65. What We Don’t Like About the Schumacher Red Fuel Jump Box
Be Aware of Jump Starting Limitations Many jump starters often perform beyond expectations, beyond what they have been designed for. The Schumacher won't have much lee-way however. Just bare this mind and all will be fine – small cars such the Ford Fiesta, motorcycles and scooters will be good. Diesels are particularly difficult to crank and so more care needs to be taken when selecting a jump box for these vehicles. Limited DC Outlets By todays’ standards, the Red Fuel jump box is rather limited in terms of DC outlets, only having the two USB ports.  Even at the fairly low price point of the SL65, competitors such as the DBPower DJS50 800A jump starter have, in addition to two USB ports, an outlet for charging laptops and other DC portable devices. No Cigarette Lighter Adapter Another let down is the lack of a cigarette lighter adapter both for charging the SL65 while on the go from your car and as an outlet from the unit so that you can power various 12V devices.  These include air compressors for pumping up tyres and other inflatables which would normally eliminate the need to reach to your car’s outlet.

This is incredibly handy especially when camping for blowing up inflatable mattresses or for connecting 12V DC to AC inverters for powering your AC devices.
Summary of the Customer Reviews of the SL65 Jump Box
Moving onto reviews from people who have actually purchased the Schumacher Red Fuel, based on 140+ ratings, the SL65 has received an average of 4 stars out of 5, with 67% of those being 5 star ratings.  This is respectable. Positive Reviews Most positive customer reviews mention how impressed they are with ability of the unit to reliably jump start their cars given its small size.  Some customers have even successfully used it to jump start larger cars than expected.  One customer used it on their V8 T-Bird, and another used it on their GMC Yukon Danali. Most have reported using the unit on their motorcycles and smaller cars however, with no problems experienced even after using it 5-10 times before recharging the device. Negative Reviews Some of the negative reviews mention that customer service is somewhat poor, with a slow or non-existent response from Schumacher when reporting issues with their SL65.  This is disconcerting but it should be noted that this is only the experience of some people. Be sure to register your unit with Schumacher to ensure the best support. Still further negative reviews mention that the Schumacher’s 8000mAh rating is inaccurate – that it doesn’t provide the expected charging duration for their phones, tablets, etc. Other negative reviews say that after fully recharging the Red Fuel SL65, and then not using it for more than a month, that the unit was “dead” and would not even accept a charge.  We see this time and again here at JumpStarterExpert.com.  It is vital that you recharge your jump starter every month while in storage, even if it is not used at all.  Jump starters experience self-discharge which is a natural, unavoidable phenomenon with ALL battery powered devices.  Your cell phones, for instance, will do this as well.  To maximize the longevity of your jump starter, please follow this advice, as some manufacturers may not honour your warranty if they find that you left your unit in storage without frequently recharging it.
Other Jump Starters to Look At Besides the Schumacher SL65
DBPOWER 800A Peak 18000mAh Portable Car Jump Starter We mentioned this one above, but the DBPower 800A is really a cracking jump starter and pretty stiff competition for the SL65.  It has double the peak jump starting current rating, suitable for gas engines up to 7.2L and diesel up to 5.5L.  It also has 2 USB ports, an outlet for charging laptops, a cigarette lighter adapter and an 18000mAh battery capacity – over 2 times that of the Schumacher.

To top it off it, it comes with a staggering 3 year warranty. All this does come at a slightly higher price than the Red Fuel Schumacher, but its definitely is worth a look. Noco GB40 1000A Car Jump Box The Noco GB40 is arguably the best selling jump starter of all time, with over 7000 reviews on Amazon!  There’s a reason for this – it does exactly what it’s supposed to, it does it well, and it lasts.  Not quite as feature packed as the DBPower above, it does however deliver even more peak jump starting current – 2.5X that of the SL65.

It comes with a single USB outlet port, a 3-mode flashlight, and it can be recharged from your car’s cigarette lighter or from any USB charger.  It also has a larger internal battery than the Red Fuel Schumacher, but also costs slightly more.  The GB40 is a solid alternative to consider.
Conclusion – Should You Buy the SL65 Red Fuel?
Overall, the Red Fuel SL65 is a decent, compact jump starter, with an attractive design and backed by one of the biggest names in the industry – Schumacher.  It has reasonable jump starting power for its size and okay battery capacity.  It also has 2 USB ports, a multi-mode flashlight., and an excellent safety feature set. With a 4 star average customer rating, many customers were impressed with the unit’s performance, being able to jump start vehicles larger than anticipated, and with the device lasting at least 5-10 jump starts before being recharged. On the negative side, by modern standards, the SL65 is somewhat limited with respect to DC outlets, not having ports for charging laptops or other 12V devices.  It also lacks the ability to be recharged via a car’s cigarette lighter adapter, useful when on the go, and doesn’t have a cigarette lighter adapter to connect a portable air compressor or car power inverter for powering AC devices while outdoors. Negative customer reviews also reported somewhat poor customer service and that the 8000mAh rating is inaccurate – the device supplying less than this. The Red Fuel Powered by Schumacher SL65 jump starter is a respectable jump starter as long as you bear in mind the above limitations.  There is however stiff competition out there from the likes of the DBPOWER DJS50 Portable Car Jump Starter and the Noco Genius Boost GB40.

10 Justifiably Discontinued Cars (and 10 SUVs We’d Love to See Back)
It’s Never Nice to See a Car Go – Unless it’s Garbage, Of Course
Every year, automakers are faced with the decision as to which models will be built during the upcoming model years. A lot of things go into such decisions, but profitability and sales volume are huge determiners. If a vehicle isn’t performing well enough in its market and re-styling won’t save it, it’s bound to find itself in the company of countless discontinued cars which grows year in – year out.
It’s an annual dance that automotive manufacturers go through trying to determine what in their lineup will yield the most profit and what is dragging them down. Actually it’s not even that clear cut.
The ultimate objective is to maximize profit and the easiest part of that is to dump a dog. However there are riskier decisions that may involve discontinuing a solid performer in order to promote a newcomer with great potential or dropping an up and comer from the brand altogether to give it a chance to stand on its own. These are mega dollar decisions and the reason for so many empty Maalox bottles in the executive suites.
But, what does that mean for the average consumer? Usually, it means that the models to be discontinued will be discounted. Dealers will be having fire sales to clear their lots and make room for new inventory. The later in the calendar year, the steeper the discounts will become.
First off, we’ll start with a list of long or recently discontinued SUVs that most people would like to see back, and then we’ll move on to some relatively recently discontinued cars, trucks, and SUVs that we might see again after a while or might not see ever again depending on myriad of factors.
10 Discontinued SUVs Everyone Wants to See Back
Reuters and other sources have suggested that Ford, for instance, sees U.S. car market’s future stacked with SUVs. According to them, SUVs will amount to 40 percent of the entire market by 2020, and they see it as perfect opportunity to expand their SUV portfolio.
Of course, first thing that comes to mind when crossing Blue Oval and SUV is the good old Bronco. It really didn’t take a genius to put two and two together and figure out this was the prime time to do so. But, while the iconic nameplate is getting ready to rise and shine again, others aren’t as lucky.
Considering how SUVs seem to be the future of the car markets for foreseeable time, it’s a no-brainer to take a look at some iconic SUV nameplates that were either discontinued a long time ago or relatively recently. Some of them exhibit a serious potential for making a comeback soon (some have already been announced), while others are just wishful thinking but who knows what the future might bring.
10. Hummer
Let us start with one of the more obvious choices. H1, H2, H3 -it doesn’t really matter. All three generations of the Hummer were highly sturdy and capable, and more or less intertwined. One didn’t simply end for another to take swing. The Hummer H1 was available since 1992 and the H3 bowed down in 2010 after the global recession did its part.

This is one of the reasons the Hummer was so special. But everyone that knows about these cumbersome beasts, also knows that they used to offer much more than simply special. Plus, since global recession is more or less behind us, there are no more genuine reasons for them not to be produced.
09. Mitsubishi Pajero
The current Mitsubishi SUV lineup (or Mitsubishi lineup in general) is nowhere near that from 10 or 20 years ago. They are, however, heading in green direction at least – I’ll give them that.
Regardless, the Mitsubishi Pajero (badged as Montero in the States) is still regarded as one of the best vehicles that Japanese manufacturer has managed to assemble. Of course, the Montero had been gone from the U.S. for over a decade now (being discontinued in 2006), but we haven’t forgotten it. Have you?
The Pajero is still alive overseas where it’s still selling better than it ever did in the U.S. Incidentally, low sales (1,609 units in 2006 compared to 24,802 units in 2001) were exactly the reason for its discontinuation.

08. Land Rover Defender
It’s unrealistic to expect the Land Rover returning to their roots with the Defender, but that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t like that. It wasn’t that long they discontinued it, but let’s face it – newer models weren’t the true Defenders for years now anyway.
Their current lineup of SUVs is highly capable and correspondingly luxurious, and there’s simply no place for a bare-bone SUV of old. But, imagine if they actually made one. Of course, it would have been stacked with all the necessary tech, but it wouldn’t have to be as plush as the others. That would help lowering the cost one has to pay in order to drive a Landy. It’s a win win situation in my book.
The next-gen Defender has been announced for model year 2020 and, more importantly, will finally again be available stateside. How the old school sturdiness and new age technology fuse in it, remains to be seen. The last time Defender was available on the U.S. market, Bill Clinton was still in the office. Its short stint on the U.S. market (between 1993 and 1997) was cut due to low profitability.

07. Nissan Xterra
It’s only been a few years without the Nissan Xterra in the markets, but people looking for extreme sturdiness and reliability (at relatively affordable prices) are already missing that SUV. Most of its current or former owners will attest to its indestructibility and capability alike, and there were many who bought it between 1999 and 2015.
Xterra, however, was simply outdated in 2015 when it finally got the axe and that severely affected its sales. It’s not the only Nissan’s vehicle to suffer from the same negligence, but while the Frontier still soldiers on, the SUV is now gone. Given the fact SUV craze is still in its full swing (or yet to take the full swing), we wouldn’t be surprised to see it return. And we certainly wouldn’t mind.

06. Jeep Wagoneer
The Jeep Wagoneer rumors aren’t that scarce or strange. They have been circulating for a while now, and they make sense. Jeep still lacks the true flagship three-row SUV, and the new Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer would be the perfect choice to fill that slot.
Of course, it would probably look much different than we remember it, but the nameplate is what matters. That and exterior wooden panels. Of course, the latter has very slim chance of returning, but it’s our right to dream, isn’t it? The Wagoneer first appeared in 1963 and finally got retired in 1991, making it the longest-running domestic vehicle to be built on the same platform. Being a gas-guzzler (11 mpg combined) during the Gulf War oil shock is the main reason behind its discontinuation.
Although still not official, the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer nameplates have been confirmed for a comeback sometime beyond 2020. That’s great news indeed, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

05. Willys Jeep CJ
It’s been a while since this one was discontinued, but it’s impossible to forget an icon, and Willys Jeep certainly was one. A 42 year long stint of production between 1944 and 1986 only bolsters that statement. Jeep finally discontinued the offspring of the WWII veteran in order to make way for a more contemporary YJ Wrangler.
Of course, it’s impossible to expect the old school bare-boned SUV in a modern era where safety regulations play such an important role. Still, if Wrangler manages, why wouldn’t one slightly rougher version do the same? Moreover, there’s some empty space in Jeep’s portfolio since the Patriot has been discontinued and the Compass might not be long for this world.

04. Chevrolet Blazer
Also known as GMC Jimmy, the Chevy Blazer is one of the best known U.S.-made SUVs to date. Sadly, it hasn’t been around for quite some time. The Blazer first appeared in 1969 and finally got axed in 1995 when it was renamed Tahoe. It was simply a victim of a new corporate strategy which is an anti-climactic end for such a beloved nameplate.
Of course, we now have the Chevy Tahoe and the GMC Yukon, but the second generation Blazer which lasted for almost 20 years is still sorely missed. The Blazer simply had that X factor which its successors lack. It’s similar with Blue Oval’s Bronco and Expedition comparison.
Now, I know that Blazer has made its comeback for MY 2019, but that’s not the Blazer I was referring to above. The new model might be sporty and plushy, but aside from name, doesn’t have anything to do with its iconic predecessor.

03. Toyota FJ Cruiser
Yet again, a car which was axed not so long ago. The Toyota FJ cruiser retired in 2014 (2016 overseas), and left Wrangler as the only rugged, old school off-road SUV on the U.S. market (until the new Bronco finally arrives, that is). Slow sales which never recuperated after the global recession of 2008-09 were the main reason for its discontinuation.
The Japanese are still selling Land Cruisers, but they simply can’t be compared with the compact FJ Cruiser. The FJ had that X factor. That something that made it special. Maybe it were the circular headlamps, or the overall boxy appearance, but I sure wish it was still here.

02. GMC Typhoon
The GMC Typhoon was always different than the rest of SUVs marketed at the time. Two year long production (between 1991 and 1993) and fewer than 5,000 units produced wasn’t exactly the lifespan you’d wish to a car, but the Typhoon was actually meant to be limited. Being a special-edition vehicle, the Typhoon’s life was naturally short and there were no particular reasons for its discontinuation other than that.
It was a performer, and performance-oriented SUVs weren’t really a thing back in early nineties. They are becoming that now, and GMC has something to think about. It’s an expensive process introducing a new SUV to the market – especially a performance-oriented one – but at least they have the name standing ready.

01. Bronco
Considering all the fuss surrounding it, the Bronco is arguably the most wanted comeback vehicle out there. The Expedition is nice and tough, but the Bronco nameplate has some backbone to it that rarely any other SUV nameplate has. Whether it’s the compact models (1965 to 1977) or full-size units (1977 to 1996), the Broncos were highly appreciated among the U.S. buyers. It was a sad day when the Bronco was finally discontinued in favor of a 4-door Expedition which was Blue Oval’s answer to competition – mainly that from GM.
Ford doesn’t have to sell it in white if that’s their problem with the car, but showing some love would be appreciated by everyone – especially by buyers. Come to think of it, a white-exclusive OJ Edition wouldn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing. Just saying.
Anyway, that was my state of mind a few years back and now that the Bronco is finally making a comeback, there’s a sense of nervousness permeating the air around it. What if they screw it up?! Hopefully, the new Bronco will be a different sort of SUV than the new Blazer.

Relatively Recently Discontinued Cars We Might or Might Not See Again
Let’s now focus on some recently discontinued models that we probably won’t be seeing ever again. Some of them, however, have already had a similar stint so not all is lost in their cases. So, say your goodbyes to the ones that are gone and say your prayers for the ones that still might appear.
Volkswagen Touareg
The Volkswagen Touareg was introduced for the 2004 model year. It arrived on an early wave of the craze for upscale crossovers. The Touareg is sportier and more luxurious than most mainstream SUVs, but doesn’t really standout from the other upscale models.
Unfortunately for the Touareg’s future, the added luxury priced it out of many buyers’ range. VW is not going to abandon the segment altogether, though. The company is introducing the Atlas for 2018. The Atlas is being manufactured in North America and is more affordably priced than the Touareg.
While we probably won’t be seeing Touareg in the U.S. any more, it needs to be noted that the nameplate is still very much alive in the rest of the World.

Buick Verano
The life of the Buick Verano has been short (less than 5 years). The first Veranos hit dealerships for the 2012 model year. True to the basic nature of Buick, the Verano was a very comfortable entry-level luxury sedan.
The Verano, unfortunately, is but one victim of the ever-changing tastes of car buyers. Small car sales are down across the North American market. Instead of offering another sedan, Buick plans to fill the niche with the Encore compact crossover SUV, a model that is already popular among buyers and made its debut alongside the now-discontinued sedan back in 2012.
It’s also worth mentioning that the Verano name is still very much active in China.

Chevrolet SS
The Chevy SS is another car with a short life span. Introduced in 2014, the full-size SS crossed the ocean from Australia. GM subsidiary Holden designed the SS as a sporty rear-wheel-drive alternative to the Impala.
The SS offered 415 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque and was fun drive in spite of its size. Sadly, it wasn’t marketed particularly well. Very few people even knew of its existence, let alone wanted to pay the $50,000 sticker price.
Around 13,000 units have been sold over almost five years of sleeper’s tenure on the market. Still, if there was any car that deserved to remain being offered as a niche vehicle, this would be the one. In Australia, the Holden Commodore SS was downsized and is still being offered (continually since 1978).

Volkswagen CC
Introduced in 2009, the Volkswagen CC was a stylish and well-equipped entry-level luxury sedan. Despite its wide array of equipment and solid dependability, the four-door CC was also VW’s lowest-volume car.
Sales started declining rapidly after 2011 and never showed any signs of recuperating, hence the upscale sedan was axed in 2017. They were actually so bad that, at one point, VW sold 40 Jettas for every CC that left a dealer’s lot. VW remains hopeful that it can gain a foothold in the near-luxury four-door market, however.
The Germans will be replacing the CC with the Arteon, but even that business didn’t go down without complications as the new car missed its intended U.S. market train due to complications with emissions testings.

Chrysler 200
All that can be said about the demise of the Chrysler 200 is: “it was about time!” This lackluster replacement for the equally lackluster Chrysler Sebring has needed to be axed since its inception in 2011. This finally happened in 2017.
Sales were decent, but many owners and potential buyers felt the cheap feeling interior and boring styling were disappointing. The sedan segment was just too crowded for poor styling and cheap interiors. Fiat Chrysler had the common sense to put this donkey to bed and add production capability to meet demands for its truck and SUV lines.
However, this move has left the Chrysler lineup seriously shallow with only the Pacifica minivan and the 300 sedan still on the books.

Smart Fortwo
Mercedes-Benz dabbled in the small economy car niche with the Smart Fortwo. These strange-looking cars hit the roads in 2008 and immediately began disappointing buyers. Tiny, unstable-looking, and short on fuel economy, the Smart Fortwo proved to be short on smart and barely able to fit two.
Mercedes-Benz has decided to drop the gasoline versions after the 2017 model year, but will keep the Electric Drive version. Maybe as an all-electric, this urban crawler will finally find its niche. On the other hand, it’ll require some serious progression in terms of its own electric technology if it’s to avoid the gasoline model’s fate.

Infiniti QX70
When the Infiniti QX70 hit the market in 2003 as the Infiniti FX, sales went wild. The QX70 was a radically curvaceous temptress when everything around her was boxy and staid. Unfortunately, sales have been sagging since the 2005 model year and the mid-size luxury SUV was finally dropped in 2018.
To be fair, there was a bit of an economic downturn between 2008 and 2012 to contend with, but sales have never hit an uptick. Infiniti is replacing the QX70 with a totally restyled QX50. With the crossover and SUV fever that has been sweeping the globe for several years, we may be seeing a retooled version of the QX70 in the not-too-distant future.

Dodge Viper
The loss of the Dodge Viper is the saddest thing we have ever had to type. Chrysler introduced the Dodge Viper in 1992 when its lineup contained more junk than a scrap yard. The only thing Chrysler was selling in 1992 were minivans and a few boxy, underwhelming cars. Then, all of a sudden and completely out of nowhere, the V10 Viper hit the pavement.
Buyers started to get excited about a Chrysler product for the first time in decades. Unfortunately, profits per unit have always been minimal. Fiat Chrysler is in need of every dollar of profit possible, so the Viper is being axed.
Even worse, there are no plans to replace it with another car of note and it’s already been a while since the FCA discontinued the Viper in 2017. So with that, we say goodbye to one of the most iconic American sports cars to date. Of all the cars to be discontinued in recent years, this one definitely breaks our hearts the most.

Jeep Patriot
The Jeep Patriot and the Jeep Compass debuted side-by-side as part of the 2007 model year lineup. The Patriot has stuck around for a decade with very few changes or upgrades. Tired and dated are about the only things that can be said about it. It was finally dropped in 2017 in order to make way fro the new Renegade.
When it debuted, the Patriot was the only compact crossover that sported bona fide off-road skills when equipped with the “Trail Rated” 4×4 system. Jeep has made a terrible waste of a potential sales monster by allowing it to lament in near stagnation. Oh, about the Jeep Compass…it gets a major redesign and a fresh marketing campaign to ensure its continued success.

Cadillac ELR
Just because your badge is upscale does not mean you can take a low end vehicle, dress it up, slap a badge on it and make it an upscale vehicle that people will buy. Unfortunately that’s what Cadillac did with its version of the Chevy Volt (remember Cimarron?).
Not only was the all-electric poorly conceived, it was also launched when Tesla introduced its spectacularly successful Model S. The $75,000 price tag for the ELR put a real blanket on potential sales. On the plus side, so few were manufactured that they may become a collectible based on rarity.
The ELR was only available between 2014 and 2016 and the company managed to sell close to 3,000 units during that time.

FCA Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country
Soccer Moms and car pool drivers are going to have to find another mode of transport when their existing Caravans and Town & Country vans need to be replaced. These seven passenger minivans with not so great fuel efficiency are the victims of a general reduction in demand and FCA’s shrinking share of the market that is there.
The hope was that the redesigned Chrysler Pacifica will fill the minivan needs of both Dodge and Chrysler customers and so far the Pacifica has delivered.
Dodge versions, as you remember, debuted back in late 1983 and are still being sold for the time being, while the Chrysler Town & Country arrived in late 1989 and disappeared in 2016.

Features like engine shutdown, three-zone remote climate control, and front seats make it more than just a large work van. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also here, and the available Enhanced Driver Alert package adds a range of useful driver tools. The LT trim provides leather upholstery and other luxury features inside, but the luxury package further enhances the LT and adds more driver aids. If you want to venture off the highway and off the beaten track, the Z71 off-road package, unique to the LT, is equipped with the Tahoe with off-road suspension and off-road tires and under protection.

Inside, the first two rows of the Tahoe are excellent in terms of comfort, space, and access, and even the third row is reasonably accessible. But the back floor is high because of the solid ash suspension that eats up the legroom of the third row. The cargo space is also compromised by the high rear floor to the point where larger or heavier objects may need a helping hand. Fortunately, visibility is quite good in all directions thanks to high windows and relatively thin pillars. The exterior mirrors are simply too small for the Tahoe, but with standard rear parking sensors and a backup camera, it’s not much trouble to park. The climate control always has a handle on the cabin temperature. Outside of temperatures above 100 degrees, the Tahoe or any of its inhabitants did not get annoyed, and although the blower could be a bit loud at full speed, this setting was rarely necessary.
2020 Chevrolet Tahoe Engine
Engine choices include a 5.3-liter or 6.2-liter V-8. Both have cylinder deactivation to save fuel when power is not needed. The 5.3-liter V-8 pairs with an automatic six-speed, while the 6.2-liter V-8 gets an automatic 10-speed. The LS is equipped with a 5.3-liter V8 engine (355 horsepower, 383 pounds of torque) and a six-speed automatic transmission. The Premier trim is at the top of the Tahoe range and is the only way to get the customizable Magnetic Ride Control suspension and even more comforts such as ventilated seats. It’s also the only way to access the 6.2-liter V8 (420 hp, 460 hp) and the accompanying 10-speed automatic transmission. If you choose the Premier Plus edition, the Tahoe gets dressed to nine and includes the 6.2-liter V8. That powerful V8 is available on other packages, but especially in the 6.2L Performance package, which is new to 2020.

The Chevrolet Tahoe in 2020 gets mixed results from the federal government but does offer optional active safety features, one leg up from its bakkie siblings. The 2020 Tahoe comes standard with seven airbags, including a central airbag that prevents front-seat occupants from crashing into an accident. Locking brakes and stability control are also standard, while the LT and Premier finishes are standard as active safety features and the 2020 Tahoe LS trim is optional. These include automatic emergency braking, active lane control, automatic headlights and an alert system for the driver. Customizable cruise control is also available on the Premier trim. The Tahoe receives four stars overall from the NHTSA, with benefits and side effects reaching five stars. However, a three-star overload rating keeps the 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe from being the fifth overall star.

2021 Cadillac Escalade Engine Options, HP—and Engine-Swap Potential
The new 2021 Cadillac Escalade is here and the drivetrain options turns out to be good news for enthusiasts, hot-rod builders, and custom-car crafters looking to plunder engines. While this fifth-generation Escalade is very different from the fourth-generation rig, one aspect that carries over is the awesome 6.2-liter aluminum direct-injected V-8 L86 mill. Escalades, starting back in 1999, were always considered to be junkyard gold since they fielded the best GM LS variants. While other GM trucks and SUV often got smaller displacement V-8s and iron blocks the Escalades got the top-shelf aluminum blocks and bigger power offerings.
This means that when you’re scouring your local yank-a-part you’ll need to be on the lookout for these gems. And while the 2021 Escalade is brand new as of this writing, its engines will eventually find their way into salvage yards where their drivetrains can be pillaged for projects across the country. With the future in mind, let’s take a look at the engine offerings in the 2021 Cadillac Escalade.
What Engines Come in the 2021 Cadillac Escalade?
6.2-liter Ecotec3 V-8 (L86)
Carried over from the previous generation is an updated of the rock-solid 6.2-liter Ecotec3 V-8. Making 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, it’s certainly a direct-injected engine full of performance potential. The active fuel-management cylinder-deactivation system of the 2020 version was supplanted by the more efficient Dynamic Fuel Management version of the same tech. The 6.2L also has variable valve timing and an automatic stop-start system. The 2021 Suburbans and Tahoes (along with their GMC Yukon cousins) come standard with 5.3-liter V-8s, but the 6.2 is an available option, so be on the lookout for the higher-spec trims of those models like High Country and Denali when you spy one in the local boneyard.
3.0-liter Duramax Diesel Inline-6 (LM2)
New to all the SUVs is an optional 277-hp, 460-lb-ft 3.0-liter Duramax inline-6 turbodiesel! Yep, it’s been a long time since you could get a diesel in a Caddy, but later in the 2021 model year you’ll have the option, and this time it won’t suck. The LM2 will be built on a cast aluminum block, which is unusual for a diesel, but the aluminum construction results in a 25 percent weight savings over an iron block. To make it last GM added thick, iron cylinder sleeves to stand up to the 15:1 compression.
It’s an inline-six with a single set of overhead cams actuating 24 valves. The direct-injection fuel pump is operated by chain drive off the back of the cam. A chain on the fuel pump runs to the intake and exhaust cams while a small belt on the crank turns a variable-flow oil pump. Boost comes via a single, variable-geometry turbo. The magic happens in the intake manifold, which is variable and provides two paths to each of the six cylinders. This way the engine response can be optimized at lower rpm. Fun fact: The fuel can be provided, by way of high-pressure direct injection (capable of multiple injection events per cycle), at pressures up to 36,250 psi! We’re not sure this engine is ripe for a hot-rodding project, but it sure is an interesting option that we’re confident will inspire some gearhead to “go boldly.”
Escalade V and Blackwing Rumors
Rumors had swirled about a 4.2L twin-turbocharged Blackwing Escalade, but sadly those plans were shelved. Any future high-performance Escalades will most likely have a version of GM’s blown 6.2-liter V-8 as found in the last CTS-V.
Finding Cadillac Escalades in Salvage Yards: An Engine Spotter’s Guide
In production since 1999, Cadillac Escalades are strewn throughout salvage yards across the country. The early versions carried roughly the same engines as typical GM trucks and SUVs, but later they were fitted with top-shelf mills. Many of these engines are just a few parts and a cam swap away from churning out well over 500 horsepower, and most of them were built on lightweight aluminum blocks. Below is a spotter’s guide to what years carried what engines.
