How did you deal with Liz being afraid of monsters in the closet and such when she was little?

☆——»      ❝ There wasn’t a lot of that, surprisingly. There was a bit of trouble with nightmares after the Chitauri attack happened, but, most of those fears went away when her mom and I were at home at the same time. Cuddling up with some good disney movies n’ S’mores helped a lot, and I’d curl up in bed or on the couch with her until she’d fall asleep. She’s a very brave girl, my Gumdrop. ❞

How did Liz get the nickname “gumdrop”?

           ❝ S’pose the short version is… she worked as a nurse at one of the VA Hospitals I used to visit back in the 80′s. She helped my brother through some rough times. Surgeries n’ stuff like that due to his… condition. ❞

          ❝ I’ve never met someone so… so caring. Genuinely wanted to help everyone she met to the best of her abilities, and she was so damn kind, even when my brother – well, let’s just say some days he wasn’t the nicest guy you’d meet. Doris was the first person to really give him the time of day, treat him as a person and not as another case number, that he wasn’t just some other damaged soldier, y’know? And I… well, I fell very hard for her. She was a bit of a flirt with everyone, goes hand n’ hand with her kindness, but I didn’t think I really had much of a chance, though, ‘cause she was a real fox n’ all – still is, and I was just a poor junkyard dog back then. But, I gathered my courage, started flirting back and… we’ve been happily married for almost thirty years now.  ❞

☆——» At first, Toomes just shakes his head. Staring down at the ground when his mouth opens after a few tense moments, but it’s a false start at formulating an appropriate answer. A dry click produced in the back of his throat instead, until he can narrow down on one specific thing. The question had brought one too many negative memories to the front of his mind, && it was actually a challenge to wade through things he had thought he had forgotten.

         ❝ No physical punishments. No belts, no switches, no BEATINGS... I’d never lock her away, or not feed her just ‘cause she might’ve dropped a plate or..something... -- I’d never lay hands on her like that, never let her go hungry -- I’d kick my own ass and starve first before any of that ever happened... ❞

☆——»  ❝ Honestly? More than less... I mean, how could I forget anything from such an amazing day? ❞

❝ T h o u g h, it was both the happiest day, along with one of the most terrifying days I’ve ever experienced. Same could be spoken for my wife, I’m sure. There were a lot of bodies in that delivery room, a lot of voices that all just sorta blurred together to background static after a while. My wife nearly broke my hand at one point. But she never once yelled, or cursed -- she was incredible. We were doin’ everything right, a few hours in and it seemed like maybe Liz would be there any minute, but.. then I got kicked out of the room due to some... complications... I almost threw a chair out of a window ‘cause I just wanted to be there for my wife, for our child, y’know? ...Luckily my brother was there to help talk some sense into me...But, our little Gumdrop is a rainbow child, y’see... -- there was a chance she might not of made it, we were told the risks more than once, but Liz ;; she’s a strong gal, just like her Mother. They both made it. And, yeah, I cried. We all cried. It really was amazing... I finally had the family I always wanted. ❞

1. What does their bedroom look like?

Windows with powered blinds to be lowered for privacy, a large spacious room with dual walk-in closets for both husband && wife. Polished hardwood floors. Vine plants hanging in the corners of the room, circling the space, with more fresh flowers (roses, lilies, orchards, all very colorful && full) on top of a dresser. A large king sized bed with black silk sheets, many, many pillows. Pictures of happy family && friends on both sides of the bed, a switchblade always remaining behind one of the picture-frames on Adrian’s side, favorite books below each for easy access. A tv mounted, hanging down from the ceiling across from the bed. Two secreted away, locked suitcases always remain under the bed on his side, too – one packed for the road for his ‘out of town business’, && the other filled with his brother’s personal effects && mementos.

31.Most prized possession?

The switchblade that he always carries with him. He’s had it since he was a teenager, a gift from his brother Marcus that he will never part with, so long as he can help it.

48. How do they express love?

With Liz; always gentle touches. Ruffles of her long hair, back && shoulder pats or rubs. Warm, protective hugs && head kisses. Surprising her with favorite sweets or buying her something she might’ve mentioned she would like, within reason. Teasing, embarrassing her as a dad only can, puns && jokes that will earn him a smile even if it causes an eye-roll. Reminders of a favorite shared movie to watch on a day off from work & school, taking her out on the roof to stare at the stars on clear enough nights. But most importantly; Always, always telling Liz that he loves her daily, verbally && through texts.

With Doris; Similar to Liz, but with more fervor in the physical affection displays. Just as many forehead && neck kissing as there are actual passionate kisses. Massages, hand holding, playing with her hair until it lulls her to sleep. More joking && teasing, anything he can do to keep her smiling at him. Surprising her with jewelry, Broadway tickets, drawing hot baths (sometimes rose petals && candles are included ;3), taking her dancing, fixing her breakfast (or dinner) in bed. Staying past work call just to spend a few extra minutes cuddling in bed or on the couch. Always reminding her how much he loves her, that he wouldn’t know what he would do without her in his life.

With others (like his crew); Goes out of his way to make sure they’re doing alright, along with their families, complimenting them for a job well done. Back slaps, shoulder pats, && occasional shoulder punches. Sideways hugs, && he’s not above kissing another man on the head when something really great comes along to benefit all. Buying lunches, rounds of beer, and affectionately busting their balls when they mess up in a trivial way.

16.Biggest and smallest long term goal?

Biggest: Become wealthy enough to retire && still live as comfortably as he does while still protecting, supporting his wife && daughter. (Pay off all debts, student loans, etc.) Secure peace of the good life, permanently, && enjoy it for the rest of his natural life with his loving wife.

Smallest: Never go back to jail.

24. Is there one subject of study that they excel at? Or do they even care about intellectual pursuits at all?

Toomes was considered a gifted student (Back in the 60′s && 70′s), but he excelled in math && shop classes the most. He always kept his grades up despite being something of a troublemaker (in the sense that he didn’t take anyone’s shit). Business && leadership ethics always intrigued him. Now with his weapons manufacturing, he’s always having to learn a new trick of the trade, be it from the black market or some technological advantage to keep the weaponry he helps build fully functional. He studies more in tactical advantage now more than anything else.

42. Hobbies?

Embarrassing his daughter && wife with his affections. Cooking, always wanting to man the grill when the weather permits it.

He doesn’t spare much time for actual hobbies beyond those. Though he considers sharpening the blades on the Vulture rig, or his own personal collection of knives as a sort of hobby, which also suits a dual purpose of being productive. He does enjoy swimming in his pool during the summer months, though.

Did Liz ever have a favorite toy or comfort object when she was very little? Something like a stuffed animal or a blanket?

☆——»      ❝ Yeah, she had a fluffy blue n’ purple blanket she would bring with her everywhere. Especially when we’d go outside the city to camp sometimes, and I’d teach her about the constellations n’ all the stories behind ‘em. She’d cuddle with me under that blanket until she was, oh... probably twelve or so... aannd there was an iron-man toy she’d bring around for a while, slept with it a lot...think it worked as a night-light until the internals burned out one day. ❞

Adrian was more of an alcoholic before he met Doris. She made the evenings worth remembering.

He was also an avid smoker, but after Liz was born, he quit cold turkey. Baby formula && her health was more important than a nic-fix.

Toomes is of Irish descent.

He's had multiple 'boxer's fractures' over the years from fights, and has broken both thumbs more than once.

Adrian was a pretty decent harmonica player, before his brother died. He'll still pick it up on rare occasions, but mostly in private settings.

He'll play a few rounds of poker, but he'd rather hustle down at the pool halls when he's feeling his oats && wants to get some new kicks the old fashioned way.

No one has yet to beat him at "five finger fillet".

What’s something that you remember from when Liz was a baby?

☆ SO I’M FIGURING IT OUT RIGHT NOW. IT’S HEADCANON TIME. HOLD ON TO YOUR BUTTS YOU’RE IN FOR A LONG-WINDED RIDE☆

Let’s lay down the facts!! He’s got this 34 foot wingspan (holy shnikes), twin turbines, retractable talons && he can control all this while also being able to rapid-fire off frikken plasma bolts from his gun, which he’s holding with both hands. Both hands!! Get him on America’s got Talent cuz he’s a damn multi-tasking star if I ever saw one.

ANYWAYS SO ;; he’s also got that pack on his back. Okay. That’s where his main thruster is (in the new build), where the chitauri power cores are stored, y’know, all the good techie stuff. All of this can’t be controlled by AI, right? I mean, some of it might with the proper algorithms to make it all run in unison, but this is a scavenged Hodge-podge of alien && human tech crafted out of stolen boxes of SCRAP we’re talking about here. && the T.inkerer can’t be the one controlling everything either, since we saw him doing his own thing each time Toomes lands in the hanger/lair.

So Y’all remember when S.tark went up with the NUKE && we had the whole phantom menace death scene of all the Chitauri army? So, they’re all MIND-LINK CONNECTED, agree’d?? Yeah, yeah, Y E A H ?? So what if Adrian && Mason managed to incorporate an updated version of that mind-link into the suit? Similar to Otto Octavius’/ Doc Ock’s mechanical arms, minus the whole... injection into the spine thing. HEAR ME OUT ON THIS !! Remember in Avenger’s, how Black Widow piloted the zoomer scooter thing that the Chitauri guy was PLUGGED INTO?? Upgrade that shit + add in mind link && HOT DOG you’ve got hands-free piloting gear!  Perhaps it’s all in the helmet, making it more of a wifi brain-link between himself && the wings. He has to take off his helmet in pieces, && there is a lot of stuff going on with that modified fighter-pilot helmet as it is. Maybe he’s got a similar tiny probe neuro-link thing that rests at the base of his skull like Doc Ock’s, or some little neural-interface pads at his temples/over his bald head (thanks @ottoctavius for adding the bald-head insult idea!) that we can’t see that helps him control all of this, which makes him && the suit so well connected. Or some combination of the two because this exo-suit isn’t made in Candyland after-all, they only have a limited amount of $$ && materials to work with. && we never see him piloting the suit without that helmet on, either. I mean. I think this all holds water? More water than an AI theory. Since the majority of the Vulture’s tech is Chitauri based. && there is like 5% Ultron thrown in the batch as well && even some Dark Elf stuff they could have been playing around with. I kept thinking maybe it was motion-controlled in the exo-skeleton he wears on his arms && legs, but it just does not add up when he’s static && the wings are moving just like an arm && fingers would. Now, I know Tinkerer does have some remote control over the suit, since he helped bring their base down on top of Spidey’s head. I just find it difficult to believe that Mason/tinkerer would be controlling 80% of the suit while Adrian’s in it, since we’ve seen him so often working on something else, or helping Shocker with the gauntlet when shit was hitting the fan. && there’s the scene @ the end when Mason is asking what the hell his boss is doing && to get out of there because they’re crashing, but Adrian is busy ripping && tearing into the plane? That’s all Toomes right there.

&& I would have to suspend even more belief that Mason would be able to attack && move around so fluidly without Toomes telling him exactly what he wanted to do. It would turn into a total conflict of interests in that regard, && its very apparent that Toomes is a man all about having control over his own life, && how IRATE he gets when someone tries to take even the smallest amount of that control out of his hands.

So, yeah. SHORT VERSION :: He’s mind-linked with the wings.

      Not much is known about Adrian Toomes’ life before he became the Vulture. His parents died when he was young && he was raised by his older brother, Marcus. At some point Marcus was involved in a motorcycle accident, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. Marcus gave up on life && begged Adrian to push his wheelchair into the ocean. Adrian refused to kill his brother, prompting Marcus to tell him that all humans are just ANIMALS, && that they were both weak, but that Adrian was weaker because he refused to admit it.                                 -- ( Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #15 )
