Navigating the World of POS Systems: Answers to Your Most Common Questions
When was the last time you visited a theme park and thought about the complex systems working behind the scenes? From buying tickets to grabbing lunch, a Theme Parks POS System is the backbone of the park’s operations. But how does it compare to systems used in retail shops, delis, spas, or even fuel stations? And how much does a retail POS system cost? Let’s dive deep into these different industries and see what makes their POS systems unique.
Tumblr media
What Exactly is a POS System and Why Should You Care?
Before we start talking about the Theme Parks POS System, Deli POS System, or even a spa POS system, let’s establish what a POS system really is. In simple terms, it’s where your customer makes the payment for goods or services they’re buying. It’s more than just a fancy till—it’s the heart of any business’s transactions. From tracking sales to managing inventory, it does all the behind-the-scenes work that makes running a business smoother.
Imagine trying to manually count all the sales made in a day. I know, right? It’s exhausting to even think about. That’s where POS systems come in, saving you time, effort, and making things incredibly accurate.
1. Theme Parks POS System: Keeping the Fun Going Smoothly
Think about your last trip to a theme park. Did you notice how fast the queue moved when you bought your ticket? You probably didn’t, and that’s the magic of a well-designed Theme Parks POS System. It’s tailored to handle large crowds, multiple transaction points, and integrate everything from food stalls to merchandise shops.
Here’s why a Theme Parks POS System is so crucial:
Fast Transactions: No one wants to wait in long lines for tickets or snacks. A good POS system makes sure the transactions are quick and easy.
Centralised Control: Imagine you have food stalls, ride tickets, and gift shops all around the park. A POS system for theme parks integrates all of them into one central system, making it easier for management to keep an eye on sales.
Inventory Management: It’s easy to run out of merchandise or food if you’re not keeping track. This system helps monitor inventory levels, so the fun never stops.
2. How Much Does a Retail POS System Cost?
I bet you’re wondering, how much does a retail POS system cost? Well, the answer isn’t as simple as it might seem. Retail POS systems come in all shapes and sizes, and the cost depends on the features you need, the size of your store, and the level of customisation.
Here are some factors that influence the cost of a retail POS system:
Number of Terminals: More terminals mean a higher cost. A small shop might only need one or two, while a large store could need ten or more.
Software Licensing: Some POS systems require you to pay for the software, either as a one-time fee or a subscription.
Hardware: This includes cash registers, receipt printers, barcode scanners, and card readers. The more advanced the hardware, the higher the price.
Generally, a basic retail POS system in the UK might start at around £1,000 but can go up to £5,000 or more, depending on your needs. Some companies offer monthly subscriptions that could range from £30 to £300, depending on the features you choose. It’s always worth comparing options to find the best fit for your business.
3. Deli POS System: Your Friendly Neighbourhood Deli’s Best Friend
Running a deli involves a lot of hustle and bustle. From quick sandwich orders to managing fresh produce, everything needs to be in sync. A Deli POS System can make this fast-paced environment manageable and profitable.
Here’s why:
Speed of Service: Your customers are in a hurry. They want their food fast, and your POS system needs to keep up. A deli POS system ensures that orders are processed quickly, so there’s no delay in the kitchen.
Custom Orders: In a deli, no two sandwiches are the same. You need a POS system that allows for modifications and custom orders with ease.
Recipe and Ingredient Tracking: Running out of ingredients? Your deli POS system can help track what’s in stock and alert you when it’s time to reorder.
It’s all about keeping your customers happy and coming back for more. And let’s face it—no one likes waiting too long for their food.
4. Spa POS System: Relaxing Made Easy
Spas are all about providing a seamless, relaxing experience for clients. But behind the scenes, there’s a lot of operational work going on. That’s where a spa POS system comes in.
Why do you need one?
Appointment Scheduling: Spa services run on appointments. With a spa POS system, customers can easily book appointments online, and your staff can manage the schedule without any confusion.
Client Profiles: Keeping track of your clients' preferences, services they’ve previously used, and any allergies they might have is key. A spa POS system helps you store and access this information effortlessly.
Retail Sales: Many spas also sell skincare products or other retail items. Your POS system needs to manage those sales while keeping your inventory up-to-date.
With a spa POS system, the goal is to keep everything as smooth and stress-free as possible—for both clients and staff.
5. Fuel POS System: Keeping the Pumps Flowing
Let’s not forget the specific needs of fuel stations. Managing a petrol station requires a POS system that can handle high-volume transactions and specialised needs like pump control and integration. A fuel POS system is built to manage just that.
What makes a fuel POS system unique?
Pump Control: These systems integrate directly with the fuel pumps, allowing for seamless control over dispensing.
Multi-Tasking: Fuel stations often have convenience stores attached. A fuel POS system manages both the fuel sales and the retail side of the business.
Payment Options: With fuel prices always fluctuating, customers want flexibility. A fuel POS system can handle cash, credit cards, fleet cards, and even contactless payments.
What Should You Look for in a POS System?
Whether you’re running a theme park, a retail store, a deli, a spa, or a fuel station, here’s a quick checklist for choosing the right POS system:
Ease of Use: You don’t want to spend hours training your staff. Look for a POS system that’s intuitive and easy to learn.
Customisation: Every business is different. Make sure the system can be customised to fit your specific needs.
Integration: Your POS system should integrate with other software you use, like accounting or inventory management tools.
Security: With sensitive customer information and transactions at stake, ensure the system is secure and PCI-compliant.
Scalability: As your business grows, your POS system should be able to grow with you.
Final Thoughts: Which POS System is Right for You?
It all boils down to your business needs. If you’re running a theme park, you need something that can handle multiple sales points and large crowds, like a Theme Parks POS System. If you’re managing a deli or spa, you need a POS system that’s tailored to fast service or appointment scheduling, like a Deli POS System or spa POS system. And if you’re running a fuel station, a fuel POS system is your go-to.
No matter what industry you’re in, the right POS system will streamline your operations, improve customer experience, and make your life a whole lot easier.

Top Benefits of Kitchen Display System in Restaurant
Tumblr media
In today’s fast-paced restaurant environment, efficiency and accuracy are crucial for delivering an exceptional customer experience. The pressure to keep up with orders, maintain clear communication, and minimize errors in the kitchen can be overwhelming. This is where a Kitchen Display System (KDS) proves invaluable. A KDS is a digital tool that replaces traditional paper tickets with electronic displays, streamlining kitchen operations and enhancing overall restaurant performance.
By adopting a Kitchen Display System, restaurants can significantly improve order accuracy, reduce wait times, and boost customer satisfaction, much like the benefits of implementing restaurant management software.
This advanced technology empowers kitchen staff to work more efficiently, minimize food waste, and make data-driven decisions, leading to optimal operational performance.
Top 11 Benefits of Kitchen Display System
Benefit 1: Increased Efficiency
A Kitchen Display System (KDS) simplifies what could otherwise be a challenging process. By eliminating paper order tickets and switching to an electronic system, the KDS saves the time typically spent re-entering order information. Orders are transmitted electronically and appear instantly on kitchen screens, enabling chefs and their teams to start food preparation immediately.
This rapid order transmission significantly reduces turnaround times, ensuring that dishes are promptly served to the right customers. With clear and concise order details displayed on the KDS, kitchen staff can focus more on cooking, enhancing productivity, and reducing errors — no more deciphering handwritten notes.

Benefit 2: Enhanced Order Accuracy
Order errors and misunderstandings can be a major issue for any restaurant, but a Kitchen Display System (KDS) greatly minimizes these risks. By displaying order details clearly and concisely on dedicated screens, the chances of misreading or misinterpreting an order are significantly reduced.
The KDS ensures that every item on the order, including customizations, is accurately transmitted to the kitchen. This eliminates the need for verbal confirmations, which can often lead to mistakes, dissatisfied customers, and food waste. Some KDS systems even include order verification and digital signatures, further enhancing accuracy and accountability.

Benefit 3: Improved Communication
Effective communication is crucial for a well-functioning kitchen. A KDS revolutionizes the way front-of-house and back-of-house staff communicate. With real-time order updates, there’s no need for constant shouting or interruptions.
As soon as an order is placed, it instantly appears in the kitchen, alerting the staff to start preparing it. Many KDS systems also offer order status updates, making it easy to track the progress of each dish. This clear visibility reduces confusion and errors, leading to greater efficiency and harmony in the kitchen.
Benefit 4: Increased Customer Satisfaction
The ultimate goal of any restaurant is to satisfy its customers, and a KDS plays a key role in achieving this. By streamlining kitchen operations and reducing order errors, a KDS directly contributes to higher customer satisfaction.
Customers will be impressed by the efficiency and accuracy with which their orders are prepared and served. Reduced wait times and piping hot food are essential for creating a positive dining experience. Additionally, a KDS ensures consistency in food quality, as clear order details help the kitchen staff prepare dishes exactly as intended.

Benefit 5: Cost Reduction
Implementing a Kitchen Display System can lead to significant cost savings for your restaurant. One of the main areas where you can save is labor. A KDS organizes kitchen operations in a way that allows your staff to work more efficiently, leading to fewer mistakes and quicker order turnaround times, which in turn means you may need fewer staff during peak hours.
A KDS also helps reduce food waste by minimizing order errors and maintaining accurate inventory counts. By avoiding the need to make extra items due to mistakes, you save on ingredients and supplies. Additionally, the elimination of paper order tickets and printing costs further contributes to savings.

Benefit 6: Data-Driven Insights
A Kitchen Display System is not just a tool for managing orders; it’s also a valuable source of data. With a KDS, you can track order information, preparation times, and other relevant data, providing you with insights that can help improve your restaurant’s operations.
These insights can help you identify and address issues in the kitchen, determine optimal staffing levels, and analyze menu item popularity. For example, you can discover which dishes are your best sellers, which ones are underperforming, and which ingredients are used most frequently. This data allows you to make informed decisions that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall restaurant performance.
Benefit 7: Better Inventory Management
Effective inventory management is critical to the success of any restaurant, and a KDS can optimize this process. By tracking ingredient usage with each order, a KDS provides real-time counts of stock levels.
This real-time data enables you to reorder items before they run out, preventing stock-outs that can disrupt operations and disappoint customers. Additionally, a KDS helps avoid overstocking, which naturally leads to reduced waste and cost savings. By analyzing inventory data, you can also identify slow-moving items and make better decisions when planning your menu.
Benefit 8: Enhanced Employee Morale
Happy employees are more productive and engaged, and a Kitchen Display System (KDS) can significantly boost staff morale. By streamlining kitchen operations and reducing stress, a KDS creates a more positive and efficient work environment.
With clear order displays and organized workflows, kitchen staff can focus on what they do best — cooking great food — rather than dealing with a cluttered kitchen. When employees feel supported by technology that helps them perform their tasks efficiently, job satisfaction increases. A KDS also helps reduce burnout by minimizing errors and decreasing the need for overtime.
Benefit 9: Flexibility and Adaptability
Kitchen Display Systems offer exceptional flexibility and can be adapted to meet the specific needs of your restaurant. Whether you operate a small independent eatery or a popular chain, a customizable KDS can be tailored to suit your requirements.
From accommodating different kitchen layouts to handling various menu complexities, a KDS can be configured to fit your unique needs. Additionally, as your restaurant evolves, the KDS can easily adapt to changes in menu items, order types, and staffing levels, ensuring it remains relevant and effective over time.
Benefit 10: Enhanced Food Safety
Food safety is a top priority for any restaurant, and a Kitchen Display System plays a crucial role in maintaining strict safety standards. A KDS helps prevent cross-contamination and allergen-related issues by clearly displaying accurate order details.
This allows kitchen staff to correctly prepare dishes the first time, taking into account dietary restrictions such as gluten-free, vegetarian, or allergy-friendly options. Some KDS solutions also include integrated temperature controls or allergen alerts, adding extra layers of safety. By reducing the risk of foodborne illnesses, a KDS helps protect your customers and your restaurant’s reputation.

Benefit 11: Future-Proofing Your Restaurant
Investing in a Kitchen Display System not only addresses current challenges but also future-proofs your restaurant against industry changes. The foodservice sector is evolving rapidly, with new technologies and rising customer expectations.
A KDS is designed to be flexible, allowing it to accommodate new features and functionalities as they develop. This might include integration with online ordering platforms, mobile payment systems, or even AI-driven tools to enhance your restaurant’s capabilities. By incorporating a KDS into your business model, you position your restaurant for long-term success in a dynamic and competitive market.
Conclusion
A Kitchen Display System is essential for ensuring smooth operations, enhancing customer satisfaction, and boosting profitability in any restaurant. By empowering kitchen staff with clear communication, reducing errors, and providing actionable insights, a KDS enhances efficiency and elevates the dining experience.
From increased productivity and cost savings to enhanced food safety and preparation for the future, the benefits of a KDS are substantial. With a high-quality KDS, restaurant owners can confidently position their businesses for long-term success in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
Are you ready to revolutionize your kitchen with a KDS?

How Staff Augmentation Can Help Scale Your Tech Team Quickly
Picture this: You're the conductor of a tech orchestra, and suddenly, you're tasked with performing a complex symphony… with half the musicians you need. Panic mode, activated! But wait, what if I told you there's a way to amplify your team's capabilities faster than you can say "Silicon Valley"? Enter the world of staff augmentation – your express ticket to scaling your tech team at lightning speed.
The Tech Talent Crunch: A Modern-Day Gold Rush
Let's face it, finding tech talent these days is about as easy as finding a needle in a haystack… while blindfolded… and the haystack is on fire. The demand for skilled tech professionals has skyrocketed, leaving many companies feeling like they're panning for gold in a desert.
But here's the kicker: while you're busy trying to lure that elusive full-stack developer or AI specialist to join your permanent team, your competitors are zooming past you, launching products and snagging market share. It's like watching the tortoise and the hare, except in this version, the hare has rocket boosters.
So, how can staff augmentation help you not just catch up, but leap ahead? Let's dive in!
Speed: From Zero to Hero in Record Time
Remember when you were a kid, and you'd add those clip-on extensions to your bike to make it "go faster"? Staff augmentation is like that, but for your tech team. It allows you to add skilled professionals to your team almost instantly.
Think about it: no lengthy recruitment processes, no weeks (or months) of onboarding. You get pre-vetted, skilled professionals ready to hit the ground running. It's like ordering a pizza versus growing the wheat to make the dough – you get what you need, pronto!
Flexibility: The Human Swiss Army Knife
In the tech world, today's hot skill could be tomorrow's old news. Remember when everyone was scrambling for Flash developers? (If you're too young to remember Flash, just nod and smile.)
Staff augmentation gives you the flexibility to bring in the exact skills you need, when you need them. Need a blockchain expert for three months? Done. A team of QA specialists for a big release? You got it. It's like having a magic wand that conjures up the perfect team member for each project.
Cost-Effectiveness: More Bang for Your Buck
Let's talk money, honey. Hiring full-time employees is expensive rather than hire a remote developer. There's the salary, sure, but don't forget about benefits, equipment, training, and the cost of that fancy ergonomic chair they requested.
With staff augmentation, you're paying for pure skill and time. No frills, no long-term commitments. It's like leasing a sports car instead of buying one – you get all the performance without the ongoing costs.
Access to a Global Talent Pool: The World is Your Oyster
Why limit yourself to local talent when you can tap into a global pool of rock stars? Staff augmentation often means access to international talent, bringing diverse perspectives and experiences to your team.
Imagine having a UI expert from Tokyo, a back-end guru from Berlin, and a machine learning whiz from Bangalore all collaborating on your project. It's like assembling the Avengers of tech, but without the inter-galactic threats.
Focus on Core Competencies: Let the Experts Handle It
Here's a truth bomb: your in-house team can't be experts at everything. Nor should they be. Staff augmentation allows your core team to focus on what they do best, while bringing in specialists for specific needs.
It's like being a chef in a busy kitchen. You wouldn't stop cooking to fix the plumbing, would you? You'd call in a plumber. Same principle here – let your team focus on your product's secret sauce while augmented staff handle specialized tasks.
Scalability on Demand: Elastic Tech Teams
In the tech world, scalability isn't just for software – it's for teams too. Staff augmentation allows you to scale your team up or down based on project needs, market demands, or even that wild idea your CEO had at 3 AM.
Think of it as having a rubber band for a team. Need to stretch to accommodate a big project? No problem. Need to contract when things slow down? Easy peasy. It's the ultimate in team elasticity.
Knowledge Transfer: Learn from the Best
Here's a hidden gem of staff augmentation: knowledge transfer. When you bring in experts, your in-house team gets to work alongside them, learning new skills and best practices.
It's like having a rotating cast of tech mentors, each bringing their unique expertise to your team. Before you know it, your permanent staff are leveling up their skills, making your whole team stronger.
Reduced Time-to-Market: Speed is the Name of the Game
In the tech world, being first to market can make or break your product. Staff augmentation can significantly reduce your time-to-market by allowing you to quickly onboard the skills you need to accelerate development.
It's like adding a nitro boost to your product development cycle. While your competitors are still putting together their team, you're cutting the ribbon at your product launch.
Risk Mitigation: Try Before You Buy
Not sure if you need a certain skill set long-term? Staff augmentation lets you "try before you buy". You can bring in professionals for a project or time period, assess the impact, and then decide if you need that role permanently.
It's like test-driving a car before making a purchase. You get to see how that new skill set fits into your team dynamics and contributes to your goals before making a long-term commitment.
Innovation Boost: Fresh Perspectives, Fresh Ideas
Last but not least, staff augmentation can give your team a much-needed shot of innovation. New team members bring fresh perspectives, different experiences, and novel problem-solving approaches.
It's like adding a dash of hot sauce to your tech team's recipe – it spices things up and might just lead to some unexpectedly delicious results!
The Bottom Line: Augment to Accelerate
In the race to build, scale, and innovate, staff augmentation can be your nitro boost. It's not just about filling gaps; it's about strategically expanding your team's capabilities to meet the ever-changing demands of the tech world.
So, tech leaders, are you ready to put your team into overdrive? With staff augmentation, you're not just scaling your team – you're scaling your possibilities. It's time to turn your tech orchestra into a symphony of innovation, agility, and growth.
After all, in the world of tech, it's not just about keeping up with the tempo – it's about setting it. And with the right augmented team, you'll be conducting a masterpiece in no time. Let the scaling begin!

With the right tools, you can enhance productivity, maintain quality, and reduce waste. This article explores essential kitchen management tools that can transform your cooking space into a model of efficiency and excellence.
Inventory Management Software
Inventory management is crucial for keeping track of ingredients, supplies, and equipment. Modern inventory management software offers real-time tracking, automatic restocking alerts, and comprehensive reporting. These tools help you avoid overstocking or running out of essential items, thereby reducing waste and ensuring you always have what you need. Popular options include MarketMan, BlueCart, and Kitchen CUT, each offering tailored features for different types of culinary operations.
Recipe Management Systems
Recipe management systems are indispensable for standardizing recipes, ensuring consistency, and streamlining menu planning. These systems allow chefs to input, store, and modify recipes easily, and they often include features like nutritional analysis, cost calculation, and scalability for different serving sizes. Tools like Paprika, ChefTec, and Recipe Costing Software enable chefs to maintain precise control over their culinary creations.
Point of Sale (POS) Systems
A robust POS system is essential for any kitchen that serves food to customers. Modern POS systems go beyond simple transaction processing; they integrate with inventory and recipe management systems, provide sales analytics, and offer customer relationship management features. Tools like Toast, Square, and Clover help streamline order processing, improve customer service, and provide valuable insights into sales trends.
Kitchen Display Systems (KDS)
Kitchen Display Systems (KDS) replace traditional paper tickets with digital screens, streamlining the communication between the front and back of the house. These systems improve order accuracy, reduce preparation times, and help manage kitchen workflow more effectively. Popular KDS options include Upserve, TouchBistro, and Lightspeed, which integrate seamlessly with POS systems to provide real-time updates and comprehensive order management.
Staff Scheduling Tools
Effective staff scheduling is critical for maintaining a well-functioning kitchen. Scheduling tools like 7shifts, Deputy, and When I Work allow managers to create, distribute, and adjust schedules easily. These tools often include features like shift swapping, availability management, and labor cost tracking, helping to ensure that the kitchen is adequately staffed at all times without overspending on labor.
Food Waste Management Solutions
Reducing food waste is not only environmentally responsible but also economically beneficial. Food waste management solutions help track waste, identify its sources, and implement strategies to minimize it. Tools like Leanpath, Winnow, and FoodLogiQ provide detailed waste analytics, helping kitchens optimize their purchasing and preparation processes to reduce waste and save money.
Temperature Monitoring Systems
Maintaining proper food storage temperatures is crucial for food safety and quality. Temperature monitoring systems like SmartSense, TempAlert, and SensorPush offer real-time monitoring and alerts for refrigeration units. These systems help prevent spoilage and ensure compliance with health regulations by providing accurate, continuous temperature data.
Hygiene and Sanitation Management
Ensuring a clean and sanitary kitchen environment is paramount. Tools like CleanTelligent, Jolt, and ComplianceMate offer hygiene management solutions that include cleaning checklists, compliance tracking, and audit reports. These systems help maintain high standards of cleanliness and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Definitive Guide to Restaurant POS Systems
Tumblr media
Restaurants have numerous opportunities to provide an exceptional dining experience, from the moment guests arrive until they leave. These opportunities include maintaining a well-trained staff, ensuring efficient food preparation, and smooth restaurant operations.
To achieve this, a reliable and effective restaurant Point-of-Sale (POS) system can play a pivotal role. Such a system automates daily tasks, freeing up time for you to focus on delivering outstanding customer experiences. If you're unfamiliar with what a restaurant POS system entails, this blog post is tailored to provide you with insights.
Understanding a Restaurant POS System:
A POS system, short for Point-of-Sale, denotes the time and place at which a sales transaction is finalized. In the restaurant context, it encompasses both hardware and software responsible for managing functions like credit card processing and check printing.
Key Functions of a Modern Restaurant POS System:
Streamlines internal operations
Connects various restaurant personnel
Ensures the smooth flow of restaurant operations
Automatically tracks sales, labor, and inventory metrics
By fulfilling these functions, a POS system not only boosts restaurant revenue and profits but also enhances customer satisfaction. It reduces employee turnover, minimizes order errors, reduces wait times, and lowers overall stress levels.
A modern restaurant POS system typically consists of two components: Restaurant Hardware and Restaurant Software.
Restaurant POS Hardware:
Restaurant POS hardware is designed to handle the fast-paced environment of a restaurant. The central component is the POS terminal, often referred to as a touch screen cash register. It manages tasks such as food ordering, transmitting orders to the kitchen, processing customer payments, table management, and more. Some systems even provide handheld devices like POS tablets, enabling servers to send orders directly to the kitchen and accept payments, including tips, at the table. For restaurants that don't offer table service, these mobile tablets allow cashiers to take orders efficiently in line.
Restaurant POS Software:
Software is essential for running any POS hardware effectively. Restaurant POS software enhances both front-of-house (order processing, payments, and tips) and back-of-house (kitchen ticket management, detailed reporting, and inventory control) operations. It can run on various operating systems like Android, iOS, or Windows.
Why Restaurants Should Have a POS System:
There are several compelling reasons for restaurants to adopt a reliable POS system:
Streamlines operations, freeing up staff to focus on improving customer service.
Ensures greater accuracy in order processing and billing, reducing errors.
Enhances the overall customer experience by speeding up the ordering and payment processes.
Provides valuable business insights through real-time data on sales and customer preferences.
Facilitates better staff management, including scheduling and performance tracking.
Offers flexible floor plan adjustments to optimize front-of-house operations.
Supports takeout, delivery, and online ordering services, especially important in light of recent industry shifts.
Enables cashless and contactless payments, catering to changing customer preferences.
Allows management of multiple branches using a single system for scalability.
Enhances marketing strategies through data analysis and digital tools.
Choosing a Restaurant POS System:
Selecting the right restaurant POS system requires careful consideration, as there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Research various options, read POS reviews, attend product demos, and compare features, pricing, payment processing, customer support, and third-party integrations. Create a strengths and weaknesses chart for each provider to facilitate comparison.
This blog should provide you with a comprehensive understanding of restaurant POS systems and how to evaluate them effectively. Choose the system that aligns with your business needs as you embark on a digital transformation and growth journey. 9 Ways to Run Your Restaurant in Sustainable Manner
Tumblr media
In today's rapidly changing environment, sustainability has become a significant focus for businesses across all industries, including the restaurant sector. Increasingly, consumers are seeking establishments that demonstrate a commitment to environmentally-friendly practices and resource usage.
Making sure your restaurant is utilizing best practices is crucial for meeting changes in consumer demand as well as for ensuring a healthy bottom line, which is crucial right now.
In the restaurant industry, you sell more than simply food. Additionally, you are selling your values, and clients are more likely to purchase from companies who share their values. Therefore, turning green is a smart place to start if you want to leave a lasting impression on your clients.
So, if you think your restaurants should also move a step toward sustainability, here are some of the 10 practices to go green.
 1.   Establish a Seasonal Menu
Using fresh, easily accessible ingredients goes hand in hand with using local ingredients. By doing this, you contribute to reducing both food waste and the energy needed for extended food storage.
Your clients will value seasonal menus since they provide the diversity that keeps them interested in returning. Additionally, you can convey a tale through your seasonal menu; by this point, you have probably noticed that storytelling is a recurring topic.
   2.  Minimizing food waste
You can lower your restaurant's emissions output by using less food inventory. Instead, then allowing portion of your inventory go to waste, you can buy less food overall by using it all. Food waste is frequently the result of ineffective inventory management. It is simple to buy too many ingredients when you do not know what you already have. You may order only what you need by using inventory management software, which helps you keep track of what you have on hand.
Reducing food waste benefits, the environment and can help you save money on inventory.
 3.   Homegrown Food
It might not be an ideal thought for every restaurant out there to grow their kitchen garden. But knowing what all it can save our additional cost on veggies and their stocks will be ideally reduced.
On-site gardens do not have to be purely decorative. In some circumstances, it is more inexpensive and impressive to customers to grow your own food.
You also become more self-reliant by not requiring certain things from outside sources. Keeping these ingredients handy would improve efficiency as well.
Growing fresh herbs like rosemary and thyme is less work to maintain than a large variety of veggies. They are widespread and are both hardy and simple to grow.
A rooftop garden is another option if you live in an urban area. Even windowsill herbs and container plants, if you truly do not have the space, can lessen your reliance on outside sources.
 4.  Utilize green cleaning supplies
Investing in eco-friendly, green cleaning supplies is one easy method for restaurants to show their commitment to the environment. Restaurants and other eating establishments place a high focus on cleanliness, yet most cleaners include hazardous chemicals that are detrimental for the environment.
Restaurant operators can purchase a variety of environmentally friendly disinfectants and multipurpose sprays to keep their establishments clean without employing harsh chemicals.
 5.  Recycle
Even though it might seem simple, recycling is essential for making your business operations more sustainable. Recycling results in a decrease in pollution and the consumption of natural resources.
Make sure you have all the bins you will need to recycle aluminum, glass, and cardboard. Additionally, you ought to have a general waste can and a bin for food waste.
 6.   Eliminating paper
Every time you can reduce the use of paper for things like menus, receipts, and kitchen tickets, do it. Use QR codes on menus so that customers may access them, or buy inexpensive tablets to give away.
If you must use a conventional fold-out menu, laminate or print them on recycled paper to make them reusable.
Going paperless in the kitchen can improve productivity. Additionally, you cannot misplace the ticket and avoid any unhappy diners if the meal is delayed. It lessens paper waste and improves the working environment for the kitchen crew.
 7.   Purchase energy-saving devices
Energy-efficient equipment and appliances are another aspect of sustainability in small restaurants. Even for tiny firms, they are initially more expensive, but they consume less. In the long term, they also assist you in consuming less energy.
When it comes time to replace your appliances, think about buying used ones. There is a ton of slightly used restaurant equipment available for far less money than a brand-new piece.
 8.  Offer vegetarian menu options
Giving customers a choice between vegetarian, vegan, or meatless menu items is a simple method to improve sustainability in businesses. Providing vegetarian options might not significantly boost sustainability, yet it is now a hot trend in food and drink.
Since meat manufacturing produces a significant amount of GHG emissions, restaurants can reduce their carbon footprint by serving less meat. Given that many customers are reducing their meat consumption, restaurants should think about providing vegan menu options.
 9.   Engage your customers
Make sure your clients are aware of all your sustainability efforts, and urge them to offer suggestions and redouble their efforts as well.  The influence increases with the number of participants in the process.
To reduce food waste, you can nudge clients to take their leftovers if they do not finish their meals.
  Conclusion
Running a restaurant in a sustainable manner is not only important for the environment but also for the longevity and success of the business. We at Americana Kitchen and Bar are adopting sustainable practices that can help reduce costs, attract environmentally conscious customers, and improve the overall reputation of the restaurant. By implementing these practices, restaurant owners can make a positive impact on the environment and contribute to a healthier and more sustainable food system. It is crucial that restaurants continue to prioritize sustainability as part of their business model and play their part in creating a more sustainable future.
So, next time when you search for a restaurant and bar near me, a restaurant that serves lip-smacking cuisines and along with aligns with the concept of sustainability, you now know where to head on to.

What Is Kitchen Order Ticket?
In a busy restaurant it's important to serve every order quickly and correctly. The Kitchen Order Ticket is useful in this situation. The Kitchen Order Ticket (KOT) is a key way for the food and drink business to keep track of orders. What is a Kitchen Order Ticket? Why is it so important?
What Is A Kitchen Order Ticket?
A kitchen order ticket (KOT) is simply an order placed by a customer. A server in a restaurant takes the order using POS software (tablet or mobile app).
It then sends the order to a printer set up to print kitchen order tickets. It is sent to the kitchen for the chefs to view the order details and prepare the food to go with it.
Types Of Kitchen Order Tickets
In the restaurant business, kitchen order tickets (KOTs) are necessary for servers and cooking staff in the back of the restaurant to talk to each other. There are different kinds of cooking order tickets that are used to make things run more smoothly and make sure that food is prepared and delivered correctly. Most people have these types:
Printed KOT
POS System Generated: The order is entered into a point of sale (POS) software and prints a ticket in the kitchen.
Kitchen Display Systems (KDS): Orders are shown on screens in the kitchen instead of being printed out. In modern tech-savvy restaurants, this is becoming more and more common.
Digital KOT
Tablet-Based Systems: A tablet or phone is used to take orders, which are then sent straight to the kitchen screen or printer.
Mobile Apps: You can use a mobile app to place an order, and the order is sent straight to the kitchen's computer system.

Top 9 advantages of cafe POS Software
Table of content:
Introduction
What is cafe POS software?
Top 6 advantages of cafe POS software
The Best cafe POS Software features
Conclusion
Introduction
When everything else goes digital, why let your cafe lag behind? using a POS system is an easy way to automate and digitize operations in your cafe. Not all newcomers to the industry know what a cafe POS system is or how it can help your firm. At a rapid pace, the cafe industry is changing. If you don't have any help or much experience, running a cafe involves long-term and short-term worries that can overwhelm you. Cafe practices that were common until a few years ago are rapidly changing in more precise and practical ways. Modern technology and creation have fundamentally changed how cafe operates, and when used correctly, cafe management software is a reliable way to guarantee a cafe's success. In this blog, we will discuss in detail how this cafe POS system meets the needs of restaurants and its benefits.
What is cafe POS software?
Both software and hardware are parts of a cafe’s POS system, which is often used in meeting with a card reader to accept cash from customers. The main advantage of POS software is that it tracks every sale made in a given unit and has the required stuff for tasks such as tracking client orders, handling stock, and handling sales reports. A tablet and stand, a cash drawer, and a receipt printer are all included in the POS station hardware. Kitchen printer wings are standard in cafes, allowing for easy processing of kitchen orders.
Here are the top nine advantages of embracing cafe POS software and how it can grow firm productivity.
Table Management
A cafe's POS system aids in handling individual tables by helping to customize the floor plan. It assists with order tracking, providing that they are perfectly placed and delivered to the intended recipient. To guarantee that the guest will receive the same menu as purchased, Billing software for cafe put orders by the seat after a table is full. To ensure satisfied clients, it also holds and fires orders as needed. When the dinner is finished, it splits checks by guests in a matter of seconds.
Kitchen connections
When a client places an order at the POS, the ticket is instantly printed and delivered to the kitchen via a remote printer so that kitchen staff can now view the order and begin processing it. A cafe POS system prints sent menu items to multiple kitchen printers to ensure orders are sent to the correct station. For example, all drink orders may go to the bar, while all food orders may go to the kitchen. A cafe POS system, in other words, ensures that orders reach the kitchen on time and correctly.
Personnel Management
A cafe POS system allows tracking employee attendance and time. By limiting employee access to acute data, POS provides a high level of protection. As an example, getting the manager's approval for discounts and holes guarantees your financial strength. Plus, the whole payroll function runs smoothly via your POS system.
Menu customization
A cafe POS system creates menu programming too painless. To keep things organized for workers, cafe POS software allows you to split the menu into varieties such as appetizers, mains, sides, and drinks. too, it helps add notes about clients' tastes, allergies, or needs and send them to the bar or kitchen printers.
Integrated Order Processing
The best POS software helps in effective stock control. A POS system makes it possible to update store stock fast and accurately. By avoiding help loss, POS software for cafes can automatically track and handle stock, which benefits cafe owners as a whole. In contrast to a manual stock system, a POS system helps in analyzing past sales data, which helps in making better decisions about product restocking. It helps to recognize waves in need of clear things and quite rebook stock with them.
Live Order Updates and Tracking
For placing orders to the kitchen using ancient POS systems, tickets are often printed. It's not likely to track the gain of the meal being produced, amend orders, or make change requests using this system, even though it's quite useful for sharing with your cooks. You may now make changes straight from your POS interface with current POS systems; personnel won't go back to the kitchen to manually correct client requests or mistakes.
Updates (Software)
New POS systems for the cafe are often updated to provide new features, benefits, and mixes. If you buy a cafe POS, you may expect continuing updates for the time of your subscription. No issue when you initially downloaded your system, you will still gain from using the current cafe software.
control a wide range of payment ways
Clients are shifting to contactless EMV payments even though many POS systems now accept credit cards, cash, and check assets. A new cafe POS system might be required if you desire to accept Apple Pay, Android Pay, and other contactless payment ways. This uses especially for the quick-service cafe.
Gain Efficiency
While the first 8 practices listed in this blog provide significant advantages to cafe owners around the nation, efficiency is the main advantage of cafe POS systems.
You can make sure that your firm works as smoothly as possible by making use of the full edges of a cafe POS. You may focus on other parts of your firm with the help of basic features like floor control, a timesheet handle, stock tracking, and contactless payments. They also provide your workers with the asset they need to work more efficiently and reduce mistakes.
Integrated Cafe POS software has the following features:

“God would you just fuck off already?!”
Frozen. Your body tensed up as the deep growl echoed through the cramped dark room.
You had been staying at your boyfriend’s apartment for about a week while you were on break from college. Flying out from the UK to California so you could spend as much time as you could with him before ultimately having to return to 5am facetimes while drowning in papers and essays.
Even before you’d booked the tickets, Corpse was already apologizing for everything under the sun. The size of his apartment and its cleanliness, the fact that he couldn’t do much more than order take out for you, his irregular sleeping patterns.. the list could go on and on. And while you assured him every time that you didn’t care, that you were coming to see him— not his apartment, not home cooked meals, and definitely not to scrutinize him for things he couldn’t control due to his mental health. But he wouldn’t buy it.
Not one bit.
He’d offer you a weary half-smile, pulling you into his chest or ruffling your hair before placing a soft kiss on your temple and changing the subject. You didn’t press any further knowing how often he was at war with his own mind and couldn’t help but think the worse of every situation.
As the days carried on, you’d spent most of your time tangled up in each other. Whether it be a movie, or playing some co-op games, or even just laying in his bed with him, you could barely stand to spend any time apart. But, of course, you were adults with responsibilities that would tear you from one another eventually. While you did miss his presence every second he wasn’t around, you couldn’t help but try to make his life even better for when he got back and for when you’d eventually have to leave him once again. Now, a week into your stay, his apartment was a good amount tidier than how it’d been when you arrived. The cupboards and fridge were stocked with groceries that would hopefully last for some time after you left, on top of the home made meals you’d make together or for him everyday. New picture frames were hung up on the wall of the two of you that you’d gifted to him when you arrived; it actually started to feel like home. Well, as much as it could without those familiar strong arms wrapped around you every second of the day.
Unfortunately, this evening was one of those times. Corpse had already been locked up in his office for a few hours now, the sounds of button mashing and frustrated exclamations making its way through the thin walls every so often bringing an amused smile to your face. He’d woken up a bit anxious already knowing he’d have to both leave you alone and put up a brave front for the stream that was planned that evening. You didn’t push him or try to talk about it, knowing that it would just make it worse; so you two had spent the day as it normally would (though he always looked and felt on edge) until he was forced to retreat back into that dreaded workspace.
You occupied yourself on your phone and laptop for a while, checking up on friends, reviewing anything you’d need for the upcoming semester, just scrolling through your socials— y’know, the works. But by the time you’d gotten bored with your scrolling, you’d notice it was a perfect time to start dinner that you’d hopefully be able to eat together with Corpse. You’d gotten to work right away, doing your best to be as quiet as you could to not disturb his work as the different aromas began to spread through the small kitchen in his apartment. Finishing up the dishes after the meal was all cooked, you dished up two servings and set them on the coffee table in front of the couch before you went to retrieve your other half.
Turning the knob of his office door slowly, you peered into the dark room; only the silhouette of the floppy mop of hair you adored so much was able to be seen in the dim light of his computer monitors. Taking a hard look at his right-most monitor you notice an editing software pulled up instead of the usual live chat he had on while streaming, so without any worry of interrupting you opened the door and stepped into the room. It was a cozy room for sure, and it always seemed to smell just like him— which of course is a given but with how much time he spent in this room, it was even more so present. Walking up slowly to his right side so you wouldn’t startle him with just your voice you watched his gaze flick to your form before steadying itself back in the monitor. Furrowing your brows at his strange behaviour but not letting it get to you, you opened your mouth to speak.
“I made dinner!” You smiled down at him, taking a few steps back toward the door so he would be able to get out of his gaming chair without you in his space. However, the hunched form of your focused boyfriend didn’t move an inch. Your heart sunk a little at his attitude but decided to just try again.
“Corpse, baby, dinners ready.”
“I’m not hungry.” The short statement left his mouth in a low grumble, if you hadn’t spent all this time with him studying his voice and begging him to speak more to you, you probably wouldn’t have been able make it out at all. You huffed out a sigh, this was new for him, you really hadn’t seen him as anything other than the cuddly baby you’d grown to know and love. But, you thought to yourself, love would come with days like this and it was bound to happen eventually. Trying your best to not get frustrated or angry with his snappy attitude, you kept your voice light and cheery as you tried again to coax him out to eat.
“Corpse you’ve barely eaten today I-“
“I said I’m not hungry.” Startling at the angry tone you’d never heard from him before, you could feel yourself start to get choked up. Pulling your hands up to hug your arms, trying to sooth yourself, you could feel yourself starting to slowly freeze up. Goosebumps ran over your skin, a chill snaking  it’s way up your spine as you gulped, trying your best to muster up the bravery to speak again. You didn’t know what had gotten into him, he knew how the tone affected you— he was usually even the one to comfort you after an episode triggering something like this. As your mouth began to run dry, you took a deep breath deciding that he would definitely come to his senses in the next moments, you opened your mouth to speak again.
“Is everything alri-“
“I’m FINE! I’m not a FUCKING CHILD I don’t need you constantly checking up on me! God would you just fuck off already!”
You didn’t even notice the tears dripping off your cheeks until they splashed against the bare skin of your hand. Slipping into the defense mode you knew so well, your body switched onto autopilot as you began to backpedal out of the room, almost tripping a few times as you sputtered out a choked “okay, I’m sorry,” before closing his door once again and stumbling messily down the hallway to his room. Your mind was moving a thousand miles a minute yet was completely blank at the same time, and before you knew it you were tucked away inside the dark closet in his room.
This was the routine, this is where you’d be safe.
Trying to slow your erratic breathing you hugged your knees even closer to your chest, praying that in some way it would ease your shaking body. But inevitably, you felt the sobs that you’d kept trapped in your throat since you’d left break through. Your chest heaved with the breaths you took to keep your sobs as silent as possible. You thought you had trained yourself well enough for this, you’d done this a million times before— but in the back of your mind you knew that this time it was different. Shrinking into the corner of the closet, the only thing on your mind was all the broken promises he’d sworn to keep.
>>>
Corpse sighed, his body weighing him down in his chair heavily, head aching with all the work he’d been doing that evening. Pulling his attention back, he stretched his arms as his sore eyes glanced over at the clock in the corner of his screen. 11:34pm. Fuck. That much time had passed already? Raking a hand through his hair he yawned sleepily, he knew he should probably spend more time working before calling it a night but all he wanted to do was curl up in bed with you-
Shit.
Finally snapping out of the heavy trance he’d set himself in every time he sat down to edit, he thought back to the last time he had seen you— calling him for dinner where he snapped at you to leave him alone… almost 3 hours ago. The memories of the past moment flooded into his head and seconds later he was scrambling out of his chair and out into the hallway. It was dead silent, Corpse felt like his heart was practically breaking his ribs with how hard it was pounding in his chest. Fuck, fuck, fuck. Gripping at the right side of his shirt he rushed into the living room, rubbing frantically at his eyes as they darted around the room quickly looking for any sign of you.
“(Y/N), baby?” He rasped out, voice caught in his throat, walking through the living room and spotting the now cold meals she’d prepared waiting uneaten on the coffee table. His heart sunk as he hurried to the kitchen only to see the rest of the meal out on the counter, not doing anything to ease his mind. He called your name again and again; rushing back into the living room his eyes darted to the front door, a tiny bit of relief pricking his system as he saw the door was still locked and latched, as well as seeing your shoes and jacket by the door. Rushing back into the hallway he peeked into the bathroom, flicking on the light switch and with no sign of you, continued down the hallway to his room.
“(Y/N), please baby.” Flicking on the light his eyes scanned the room not catching a single sight of you-- when he heard it. Slowing his breathing down as much as he could in his panicked state he focused in his hearing on the small heaves of air coming from the closet. Stomach dropping, Corpse collapsed onto his knees, legs giving way from underneath him when he realized where you were and what was happening. Crawling his way toward the closet door he stopped right outside of it, he heard your breath hitch and knew you were holding it out of practiced instinct which made him want to vomit. But it wasn’t about him right now, so with a deep breath he finally managed to whisper out.
>>>
“Princess, I’m gonna open the door okay?”
Finally releasing the breath you had been holding, your lungs heaved for air as light flooded into the dark closet. Peeking an eye out from where it was buried in your knees, you blearily made out your boyfriend’s blurry figure kneeling outside the closet. With your body feeling like it was completely out of your control, sobs once again began to rack your huddled form as you shrunk away from him as far as you could into the corner of the closet.
“I’m gonna come in and sit with you okay, I won’t touch you unless you say I can alright?” You could hear some shuffling before hearing the door creak shut again engulfing the both of you in almost complete darkness, save for the few streams of yellow light coming from the cracks of the door. Corpse stared forward in complete silence, long legs bent uncomfortably and body hunched over in the cramped space of the closet trying to give you as much space as possible but knowing that the first step was sitting with you. The man beside you sighed softly, feeling his heart splinter with every heaving sob that raked over you; he could feel his own tears prick at his eyes and a sob starting to well up in his throat but he held them back. Mustering up the courage and will he finally opened his mouth to speak.
“(Y/N) I am so, so fucking sorry,” his voice pitched just above a whisper because he knew if his voice got any deeper that it would startle you and scare you even more than how you were already feeling right now. ‘I don’t know what I was thinking. It never should’ve hap-“
“Y- You br- broke your promise.” Your reply came in watery, stuttered breaths; the knot in Corpse’s throat came right back up, tears filling his waterline as much as he tried to keep his composure for your sake.
“I know. I know I did.” The man beside you managed to choke out thinking back to the day where he first lost his temper around you. You’d told him everything about your experience with your past relationships and how you were treated, what you used to cope and what he could do to avoid that in any way possible. He promised that day that he would never again raise his voice, or move too fast even when he was angry or frustrated, and made sure to note down anything that would possibly trigger you to completely avoid altogether. And he kept those promises… until today. Tilting his head to glance over at you, his eyes adjusting to the darkness of the closet to see you staring straight ahead, tears pouring endlessly down your damp face as your body still shook with soft cries.
“I can’t lose you (Y/N)” Corpse’s voice shook as he tried to figure out the right things to say that would keep you from walking right out that door.
“I’ll do anything. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, I don’t know what I’d do without you. I’ll be better, I swear on my life I’ll be better. Anything you need— it’s yours. I just.. I can’t lose you. Not like this.” He hated how much he sounded like he was pleading when he’s the one who fucked up. The last thing he wanted to do was manipulate you into staying with him which was exactly what your ex did when they made the same mistake time and time again; something he swore he’d never even think of doing. But here he was, and here you were glancing up at him with bloodshot eyes, hair sticking to your tear slicked face and body shaking so much you’d think it was below freezing in there.
Tearing your gaze away from his, you heaved a watery, shaky sigh trying your best to get your thoughts in order. While you had your issues, you knew he had his as well; and with as much patience and understanding he gives you with your snappy, frustrated, sad days, you needed to give back that same patience and understanding with his own. You needed to be brave here.
“Baby-“
“C-Can you just hold me? Please?” You sputtered out just above a whisper, and before you could even unwrap your arms from around yourself Corpse was pulling you into his lap; strong arms encasing you as he pushed his face into your hair. That’s when you found out he was shaking just as much as you were, chest rising and falling erratically with contained sobs as he tried to keep his brave demeanour up for you. Tucking your head under his chin he leaned back against the wall as he crushed you to his chest, the droplets hitting the top of your head giving way to the fact that he was crying too. Pulling your arms up from your side, you slowly wrapped them around his shoulder as he pushed his face against the crook of your neck, sobs finally giving way as he cried helplessly into your shoulder; further dampening the already tear-soaked cloth of the hoodie you were wearing.
“I’m sorry,” Corpse sputtered, hooking his chin over your shoulder so he could keep up with the heaving of his chest, pulling an arm up from around your waist to rest on the back of your head. As much as he wanted to run his hands all over your body and bury his fingers in your hair to feel and memorize every inch of you, he kept them still not wanting to overwhelm you more than this kind of touch already did.
“I love you, I love you so much, I love you..“ he whispered over and over into the darkness of the closet as you both began to breath slower as one. Shushing him softly, you repeated the soft words back to him before wrapping your arms tighter around his shoulders, ensuring him that you were going to be alright.
There would be bumps in the road but Corpse was worth it.

Carve It Into Stone, 1574 words - Buck/Eddie + Chris, Sleepy Sickfic
(AO3 link)
Caught in the rhythm of routine, Eddie remembers a few moments too late that he’s meant to be entering quietly when he gets home from work. Or: a self-indulgent Buck and Chris napping together fic because of this post.
Caught in the rhythm of routine, Eddie remembers a few moments too late that he’s meant to be entering quietly when he gets home from work. The deadlock has already been turned but, wincing, he slides his key back out gently and palms the doorknob deliberately to prevent the familiar squeaks from reverberating through the house.
Once inside, he guides his duffel bag to the floor, not letting the strap clatter down as he usually would, and takes care as he bends down to unlace his boots and toe them off before padding into the living room, following the low sounds of the television.
On Thursday, Abuela asked for help figuring out the new tax software she wanted to use this year — it was very user friendly but she was very much in her 80s — and instead of subjecting Christopher to an entire afternoon and evening of boredom, Eddie asked Buck to pick him up from school and hang out until he could join them. He hadn’t known at the time that Christopher was sent home with a note saying he’d been sniffly and should be kept home until he felt better: new protocols in the mid/post-COVID-19 world.
Buck immediately got him a rapid test for COVID-19 and it was ruled out, and it didn’t present like a flu, it was just a hell of a cold. Mild fever, runny nose, body aches — the works. And Buck, who had been exposed for hours at its peak transmission period, did not escape it. Which made it handy when Eddie needed a sitter on Friday and Buck naturally had to call in sick himself.
Buck was sending him text updates all throughout his shift but they stopped suddenly a couple hours ago, so Eddie is not at all surprised to find them both out for the count.
Still, he’s not prepared to take in the sight of Buck stretched on his back, somehow fitting his 62 frame between each arm rest, and Christopher tucked snugly along his side, more on top of him than in the wedge between Buck’s body and the back of the couch. One of Buck’s hands is curled up by his face, while his other arm is holding Christopher to him as if there was a risk of falling. Christopher’s arm is tucked into his chest, and his head is resting against Buck’s collarbone, nearly tucked right under his chin and Eddie…
Eddie pauses.
He pauses and grapples with this picture of strength and fragility juxtaposed and blended together. Buck, built for strength and power, tenderly cradling his young son. Both of them unstoppable forces of energy and unrestrained joy, both cast down together by germs they just have to weather.
Both of them here, recovering together, safe under Eddie’s roof, under Eddie’s watch now.
He feels suddenly like he’s walked blindly into a moment in the course of his life whose significance he can’t yet pinpoint and he thinks if he just stays here, quiet, still, he might be able to reach out and understand it.
Christopher’s glasses are on the table nestled between a tissue box and two empty glasses of water, indicating one of them knew they were headed towards an extended nap before they settled in and somehow that detail tugs at his heart fiercely. To imagine Buck watching Christopher get sleepier and sleepier, carding his fingers through his curls fondly, and gently lifting his glasses off to make him more comfortable. Was he already settled against Buck by then? Or were they sitting upright until Buck started to lose his own battle with fatigue and rearranged them like this? Indulging both their need for cuddles when they’re feeling low?
It doesn’t matter, but Eddie wishes fiercely that he knew.
They’re both breathing easily enough, like most of the congestion has lifted, though he can tell by the amount of crumpled up tissues that missed the trash can Buck must have brought into the living room that they had a hell of a day with it. Their cheeks are a little flushed with fever still, and Eddie wants to check but doesn’t dare touch them for fear of disturbing them.
Instead, he takes in their pale skin, their dark curls, and their unguarded faces in sleep and marvels for the hundredth time at how improbable it is that they could look so alike and how strangely happy he is about it. By now he’s used to the guilt that accompanies this thought, and as always, spares a thought to Shannon, but then he lets himself linger on it like he doesn’t usually have the luxury of doing.
Usually their similarities strike him at the worst times: when he turns around in line to catch them making faces and laughing at being caught, and Eddie has to pretend to be grumpy and turn back around to play into their game; when they’re ordering ice cream and Eddie asks for strawberry and they both turn to look at him with identical expression of disappointment because fruit isn’t a treat even if it’s fake fruit; when he has to take a call from Carla as they’re walking into the museum and catches up to Buck and Chris just in time to hear the ticket taker say “you and your dad have fun!” because she has eyes and anyone on Earth would have assumed the same. These are moments Eddie has to let lie and move on from quickly. Moments he only gets to revisit when he’s laying in bed at night, trying to conjure up the visuals exactly as they were to reproduce the tightening in his chest he keeps experiencing, but failing every time.
But now, here, he can linger.
No, he can do more than linger.
Moving slowly as if any sudden movement could break this tranquility, Eddie slips his phone out of his pocket and double-taps the power button to bring up the camera.
He takes a single, wide-view shot of the whole couch, and admires it for a moment.
Then he zooms in on their sleeping faces and takes two more.
Three new pictures to add to the overflowing folder of pictures that will never go on Instagram.
He quickly sends Carla the wide-view shot because he feels the need to share what he’s come home to and she’s the only safe option. The only one who won’t read more into it than Eddie’s comfortable addressing.
Though if Eddie’s being truthful, he knows she’s just the only one who’ll keep it to herself until he’s ready to hear it.
Carla sends back three red hearts, and Eddie can’t help but agree.
He slips his phone back into his pocket and makes room to sit on the coffee table.
Buck’s hand is right there, open, palm facing up, waiting.
Eddie reaches for his shoulder instead, though he slips up and instead of jostling him gently like he meant to, his hand curves around his shoulder and his thumb glides back and forth against his shirt until Buck is snuffling and blinking awake.
“Hey,” Eddie says, smiling when Buck remains half-asleep, his body as relaxed as it was in sleep.
“Hey,” he croaks, gently clearing his throat and casting a nervous eye to Christopher who makes nothing of the disturbance.
“How are you feeling?”
Buck seems to mentally assess himself. “Fine, just crazy tired. Our little man here was a trooper, but he conked out a couple hours ago. Aw, shi--oot,” he looks at the television, “I was supposed to pause it when he fell asleep. I don’t remember which episode we were on.”
Eddie smiles. “He probably won’t even remember the episodes you did watch. You can start over when you’re both back on your feet.”
“Mm,” Buck hums, his eyelids already growing heavier again. “‘K.”
Eddie watches sleep take over Buck, until those tired lids are pried apart suddenly with mild alarm.
“D’you want m’to put him to bed?” Buck slurs. “Be more comfortable?”
Eddie shakes his head with a fond smile. “He’s just fine where he is.”
Buck’s eyes grow vulnerable in a way he’s been trying to hide lately when he’s in full control of his faculties, and the corner of his lips tugs up into a shy smile.
“Go back to sleep,” Eddie says, his voice pitched low to be soothing.
Buck obeys and within a couple of minutes his face is slack and peaceful, his breathing evened out, but some stray impulse shifts his hand away from his face and off the couch entirely to hang in the space between them.
Can Eddie really be faulted then for taking it in his hands and holding on for just a second — feeling the slight heat from the fever seep into his skin, feeling the curl of mildly calloused fingers against his, feeling the weight of it between his palms and deciding that he likes it, a lot?
He guides Buck’s hand back to its original resting place and doesn’t give in when his fingers want to explore the ungelled curls resting against his forehead.
He lingers, again, just one more time, and lets the knowledge that Carla’s talk will likely be coming sooner rather than later wash over him.
And by the way he only barely makes it to the kitchen before thumbing open his gallery and reviewing the three pictures he took, he figures he may just be ready for it.

“No no no no no you aren’t going anywhere like that without me.”
Just say yes
Pairing: Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes (Stucky)
Rating: Gen (this is pure fluff)
Notes: This prompt was fun, and also challenging! @ohwereusingourmadeupnames, I hope this makes you smile a bit :)
Word count: 2.2k
Summary:
There were countless other moments that led to this exact moment but none of them really mattered. Here he was in New Zealand traveling the world with his best friend turned the love of his life, Steve Rogers.
Or, Steve is a photojournalist and Bucky goes along with him for an international assignment.
Bucky Barnes tried to identify the decisions that led to this very moment, but he couldn’t quite pinpoint where it all began. Was it in fourth grade when a quiet blonde boy sat down next to him, taking pity on the new kid? Was it in middle school when he joined band just so Steve wouldn’t have to audition alone? Was it in ninth grade when they came out to each other, crying on Bucky’s bedroom floor? Was it the end of high school, when he and Steve decided to room together in college, knowing they’d both be terribly homesick without each other?
College was arguably the most important part of their relationship and how they’d grown together. Finally getting out of their small town, Steve and Bucky were introduced to the world in a way they never could have imagined. By sophomore year, Steve finally worked up the courage to tell Bucky that he’d been in love with him for a while. Steve expected the worst but knew he had to be honest with his best friend. What he didn’t expect was for Bucky to burst into silent tears and crumple into Steve.
“Buck?” he’d asked carefully.
“I convinced myself for years that there was no way you could ever feel that way about me, Stevie,” Bucky sighed.
“What? Are you crazy Buck?”
“Crazy about you, Stevie,” Bucky grinned, tears still in his eyes.
Steve shoved him slightly, groaning at the cheesy line.
From that moment on, they navigated a new relationship entangled with a lifelong friendship. As silly as it felt at the time, they did all the things one should do in a new relationship. They flirted, dated, got nervous while getting ready in their respective bedrooms, and on their next trip home, they reintroduced themselves to each other’s families as boyfriends.
There were countless other moments that led to this exact moment but none of them really mattered. Here he was in New Zealand traveling the world with his best friend turned the love of his life, Steve Rogers. Steve had graduated with a degree in journalism and a knack for photography, Bucky with a degree in computer science and software engineering. Five years later, and here they were. Steve was now a senior photojournalist at The New Yorker and Bucky was a lead database developer in the financial industry.
When The New Yorker gave Steve the opportunity to do some international work, Bucky didn’t hesitate to join him. At first, Steve had insisted that Bucky stay in New York, not wanting Bucky to feel forced into traveling with him. Bucky couldn’t imagine a world in which he willingly stayed behind and let Steve go travel without him. It shocked both of them when the conversation blew up into a full-blown argument.
“Buck, how could I possibly ask you to just up and leave your job to follow me around the world for a few months?” Steve exclaimed.
“You’re not asking me, Steve! I’m literally insisting on going. I can work from anywhere, you know that!”
“But Buck, the timezones would be impossible and our families are here. Of course, I want you to come with me, but I would hate myself for dragging you away from your life here”.
“Steve, no, stop it. The magazine wants to send you on an international photojournalism spree for three months. Do you really think I don’t want to visit Thailand and New Zealand and Morocco and all the other places they want you to go to? No. No no no no no, you aren’t going anywhere like that without me. How could you possibly tell me not to come with you, Stevie? Why don’t you want me to come with you?” Bucky lost steam, tears filling his eyes, as he realized that maybe Steve didn’t want him to go with him. He didn’t let himself think about the small box hidden between several layers of sweaters on his side of the closet and the fact that he had big plans with what it contained.
Steve immediately approached Bucky and wrapped him in a tight hug. “No, honey, no. I want you with me, always. I just want to make sure it’s what you want, that’s all. I promise, Buck”.
“I want to, I promise. I’ll clear it with work, and it should be fine. I’ll be there to annoy you the whole time”.
Steve just chuckled, pulling his boy in closer, wondering how he thought he could ever go three months without Bucky in his arms.
So there Bucky was, halfway through a three-month travel spree, standing on the balcony of their apartment in Hamilton, New Zealand. He glanced back over his shoulder, happy to see Steve still sleeping soundly. Bucky’d gotten up early to get some work done, knowing he’d follow Steve around for a while today, loving any opportunity to watch Steve work. He wasn’t sure how long he stood there, but a while later he was surprised by Steve’s large form coming up behind him, wrapping his strong arms around Bucky’s waist.
“Morning babe,” Steve mumbled.
“Hey, sleepyhead,” Bucky replied. “I hope I didn’t wake you this morning”.
“Nope, not at all”.
They just stood there for a moment, wrapped up in each other, still just as in love as they had been in college.
“So,” Bucky started when they’d headed into the kitchen for breakfast. “Where are we headed today?”
Steve waved him off. “No work today,” Steve started. “I got us tickets for a Hobbiton Movie Set tour today. I know you wanted to visit while we were here”.
Bucky’s face broke into a massive grin. “Really, Steve? You hate those movies”.
“Yes, really. You’ve been going all the places I have to go, I wanted to take you somewhere,” he shrugged. “We don’t have to leave for a few hours, so you have plenty of time to nerd out over the website”.
Steve spent the next hour or so combing through his photos and drafting a few different columns and articles. Meanwhile, Bucky was excitedly researching all the different things they’d be doing at Hobbiton. Steve tried to focus on work, but it was hard to concentrate with Bucky mumbling about Green Dragons, various Hobbits, and Hobbit Holes - “we can crawl inside them, Stevie!”
Eventually, Steve gave up trying to work and looked over Bucky’s shoulder to get a glimpse into the set they’d be visiting that day. He’d never been the biggest fan of the movies, but anything to see his boy smiling that wide was worth it.
A while later they pulled into The Shire’s Rest where the bus was waiting to take them the last distance to the set. Bucky was buzzing the entire time, barely able to contain his excitement. Steve had brought his camera under the pretense of gathering footage for work, but really he just wanted to snap some candid photos of Bucky.
The next two hours passed in a blur. Bucky was hanging on to every word their tour guide said, eagerly repeating information to Steve as if he hadn’t also heard the same information. Steve snapped several photos of Bucky throughout the tour, loving the smile on his face. By the time they made it to the Green Dragon Inn, Steve couldn’t wait to order a beer and walk around with Bucky. As much as he loved learning more about the set and the movies, he was looking forward to some time with just Bucky. The crowd slowed them down a bit, but eventually, they had their beers and they were able to wander the grounds before the bus would take them back to The Shire’s Rest.
Bucky eagerly pointed out different spots here and there. Specifying where certain characters stood for certain scenes, which hobbit holes belonged to whom.
“This place is like magic, Stevie,” Bucky said with awe.
Steve gripped his hand tightly, smiling over at Bucky. “I’m happy you’re having fun, Buck. We should probably start heading back toward the bus, though”.
Bucky nodded and begged Steve for just a couple more photos of him and at least one selfie of them. Steve happily obliged, taking several shots of Bucky and a whole burst of selfies. They meandered back toward the bus, chatting quietly about the rest of their adventures as they rode back to their car. Bucky drove the 40ish minutes back to their apartment, giving Steve some time to scroll through the photos he’d taken. Aside from all the pictures of Bucky, he’d gotten some good footage of the set. He wondered if maybe the travel editor would want him to work up a quick tourist piece.
Before he could get too caught up in work, he and Bucky arrived back at their apartment. Exhausted from the afternoon, both men collapsed on the couch immediately.
“Thanks again for letting me crash your work trip, Stevie”.
Steve wrapped his arms around Bucky, pulling him into his chest. “Thank you for coming with me, honey”.
Laying there in that apartment, thousands of miles away from home, they had everything they needed. Steve still couldn’t believe he ever thought he could take this trip without Bucky, and he still hated himself for asking Bucky not to come. He was grateful for Bucky’s stubborn nature and his insistence upon traveling with him.
A few weeks later, Steve and Bucky walked through the door to their temporary home in Nice, France. Steve was supposed to focus on the cuisine there for the next couple of weeks, and Bucky was thrilled at the prospect of taste-testing everything.
“Hey Stevie?”
“Yeah Buck?”
“Would you mind running down to a market to grab stuff for dinner? I don’t really feel like going out tonight”.
“Sure thing. I’ll be back in a sec, you just get settled in”. Steve pressed a quick kiss to Bucky’s cheek, quirking an eyebrow at how tense Bucky was all of a sudden. “You alright, honey?” Steve asked quietly.
“Yeah, just tired,” Bucky muttered.
Steve nodded, knowing how Bucky could be when he was tired. He headed out with a wave, leaving Bucky to relax at the apartment. Bucky’s heart was racing. What Steve didn’t know, was that he had a small box burning a hole in his pocket since the day they left New York. He’d planned to wait and propose somewhere more romantic, but he’d hit his breaking point since the trip to New Zealand. He’d been planning for a while back in New York, but with Steve needing to travel for work, Bucky wasn’t willing to wait until they got home.
While Steve was out, Bucky got them unpacked and explored the small apartment. They were a short walk from the beach and had a lovely view of the coast. It was picturesque, and the perfect setting for what Bucky had planned. All those plans went completely out the door when Steve walked through the door. Time had either completely gotten away from him or Steve was gone for far less time than expected. The bags of groceries in Steve’s hands indicated the former.
Before Bucky knew what he was doing, he dropped down to one knee and pulled the small box from his jacket pocket. He froze, no words coming out of his mouth.
“Um,” Steve stammered, bags of food dropping to the floor.
“So, the real reason I couldn’t let you leave without me for three months is because this box has been hidden in our apartment in New York for about six months. When you said you wanted to go, I panicked, knowing that we were finally ready for this. Steve, you have been the love of my entire life, and you are the love of the rest of my life. You have given me more than I ever thought I could have in this world and I want nothing more than to call you mine, always. Will you, Steve Rogers, marry me?” Bucky was sweating, his hands shaking, and his breath was coming in short pants.
Steve took a few large steps and dropped to his knees in front of Bucky. Without a word, he tangled his hands in Bucky’s long hair and pulled him in close for a hard kiss. Their teeth clicked together briefly before Bucky remembered how to move his mouth. Bucky could taste tears on their lips, unsure if they came from him or Steve. When he pulled back, Steve was looking at him with wonder, tears running down his stupidly beautiful face.
“Yes, Bucky. Yes, always yes to you,” Steve sobbed.
Both men were shaking as Bucky pulled the matte black ring from the box and slid it onto Steve’s left hand. Bucky held Steve’s hand tightly, bringing it to his lips to press a kiss to the ring.
“I love you, Stevie”.
“I love you back, Buck”.
They stayed seated on that floor for far too long, groceries and dinner long forgotten. They whispered softly about their favorite memories together, reminiscing about falling in love and how Bucky had managed to keep a secret for this long.
Steve just laughed to himself, smiling at the man in front of him. “Thank you, Bucky. And thank you for insisting on coming with me”.
“Not getting rid of me now, pal. ‘M yours, Stevie”.
What Steve didn’t tell him was that he also had a ring hiding in their apartment back in New York. That one could wait a few more weeks.

Is It Necessary For Restaurant To Have A POS System
Tumblr media
Whether you're a seasoned veteran in the restaurant industry or new to the scene, you've undoubtedly encountered the term POS. A Restaurant POS system is an essential tool for optimizing restaurant operations. Some POS systems even offer functionalities for employee management, reporting, and integration with payroll systems.
What Exactly Is a Point of Sale (POS)?
A point-of-sale (POS) system comprises both hardware and software components that enable customers to place orders and restaurants to accept and process payments from customers.
Through a POS system, a restaurant can efficiently handle sales, inventory, and overall operations. This enhanced efficiency leads to fewer order cancellations and improved profitability.
A restaurant POS solution empowers you to manage tables, split checks, add tips, monitor employee performance, facilitate approvals, and perform various other tasks.
How Can a Restaurant POS System Benefit You?
A Restaurant POS system significantly enhances various aspects of restaurant operations, including:
Real-Time Insights: Access real-time sales and revenue data for better decision-making.
Inventory Tracking: Efficiently monitor restaurant inventory and automate reorder processes.
Billing and Ordering Streamlining: Simplify billing and ordering procedures for smoother operations.
Customer Satisfaction: Elevate customer satisfaction through top-notch service.
Automatic Order Acknowledgment: Facilitate quick and automatic order acknowledgment.
Brand-Aligned Customization: Customize bills and receipts to match your brand identity.
Multi-Location Management: Effectively manage multiple locations through a unified dashboard.
Key Advantages of Implementing a Restaurant POS System:
Streamlined Operations: A restaurant POS system automates various tasks, freeing up time to focus on critical areas such as customer service.
Enhanced Efficiency: Beyond task automation, POS systems generate detailed reports on sales, inventory, and operations, aiding informed business decisions.
Accuracy: Accurate sales and inventory records are essential, and a restaurant POS system ensures data precision, maintaining high accounting standards.
Improved Customer Service: POS systems retain records of customers' previous orders and preferences, enabling tailored dining experiences and customer retention.
Increased Profitability: POS systems boost profitability by providing comprehensive insights into sales and operations. These insights guide cost-cutting strategies and revenue growth.
Whether you're a restaurateur looking to refine operations or a newcomer seeking an edge, implementing a restaurant POS system can be a game-changer. It enhances efficiency, elevates customer experiences, and ultimately contributes to the restaurant's success.
Factors to Consider When Selecting a POS System
A comprehensive restaurant POS system should encompass the following attributes:
Billing and KOT – An effective POS allows digital order placement and generates automatic Kitchen Order Tickets (KOTs). The restaurant servers input orders using the POS software, which then prints KOTs via configured printers. This reduces table turnover time and captures vital customer information.
Inventory Management – The chosen POS must track inventory levels, anticipating stock shortages and ensuring continuous supplies.
Detailed Reporting – Your restaurant's POS software should produce comprehensive reports on sales, inventory, and operations, serving as a foundation for business improvement.
Menu Management – A competent POS system should enable easy editing, modification, and deletion of menu items, with changes reflected across all integrated food ordering apps.
Delivery Integrations – If third-party food delivery services are employed, the POS software should integrate seamlessly and allow delivery status management via the POS interface.
Multi-Device Support – The POS software should be accessible from laptops or mobile devices, eliminating dependence on specific POS hardware.
Integrated KDS – Your restaurant's POS software should seamlessly notify the kitchen display system about order details, updates, and requirements without manual intervention.
Cost of a POS System
The cost of a POS system hinges on required features and business size. Options include monthly or annual subscriptions with associated support and maintenance fees, potentially reaching up to $250. Costs are contingent on specific needs and preferences.
Key Considerations When Selecting POS Software
Additional factors must be weighed during the POS selection process:
Reliability – A POS becomes the digital hub of your business; thus, opting for software with a proven record of high uptime is pivotal for successful operations.
Adaptability – The POS system should be forward-looking, equipped with modern features that cater to the evolving needs of the restaurant industry.
Multi-Device Support – A versatile POS should operate seamlessly across various devices, accommodating multiple users simultaneously.
User-Friendly Interface – Simplicity facilitates staff training and swift system deployment.
Compatibility – Ensure the chosen POS system aligns with existing hardware components like computers, printers, and scanners.
Customer Support – A reliable POS software should offer robust customer support for addressing queries and troubleshooting.
How Does a Restaurant POS System Function?
In traditional full-service restaurants, patrons seat themselves, order from the menu, enjoy meals, and pay before departing. Self-serve establishments have customers order and pay at the counter, consuming on-site or as takeout. In both scenarios, the restaurant POS system digitally records orders, communicates with the kitchen, manages payments, and gathers transaction data.
Conclusion
Running a restaurant demands diligence, yet modern Point-Of-Sale technology eases operational burdens. Prioritize the discussed factors when selecting a POS system. With a well-suited POS that aligns with your requirements and backed by attentive service and support, operational concerns can be minimized.
