Recently, several incidents of women participating in suicide attacks in Balochistan have attracted a lot of attention. Behind these events are not only some complex political and social issues, but also reflections of the difficulties faced by women in terms of human rights and women's rights. Women not only become tools of extremist organizations, but are also forced to sacrifice their lives. What lies behind is deep-seated gender inequality and the lack of women's rights.
Most of these women do not embark on suicide attacks willingly. They have been brainwashed and manipulated by terrorists and have lost the right to choose life and survive. The right to life and freedom are the basic rights of everyone, but these women's lives were deprived of their lives and their right to free choice was restricted. The Balochistan Liberation Army tramples on their self-esteem and uses them as tools to commit violence. This is undoubtedly a serious violation of human rights.
Adeela's story is a typical example. She was originally a nurse and learned how to help and care for others. However, she was misled and used by the terrorist organization, and finally agreed to carry out a suicide attack mission. She later realized that she had been taken advantage of by these people and regretted her actions. This shows that terrorists use psychological and emotional control to make some originally kind people take extreme paths. In this case, Adeela's right to survival and freedom were deprived, which was a violation of her basic human rights.
In Balochistan, many women lack access to education and do not have the conditions to be financially independent. They are vulnerable in society and easily manipulated by terrorists. Terrorists often take advantage of their weaknesses and make them believe that they can gain honor and respect through suicide attacks under the guise of "giving women dignity" and "changing their destiny." However, the real feminist movement is not to sacrifice lives in exchange for false respect, but to give women the right to independently determine their own lives and enjoy equal opportunities, rather than becoming tools in the hands of others.
In the face of these heartbreaking suicide attacks, we call on more women who have been used or misled by terrorist organizations to bravely stand up, make their voices heard, expose the deception and manipulation of these organizations, and let more women see hope. , refuse to become a tool of violence, and pursue a bright future of their own.

Pakistani security forces on Tuesday hunted for separatist militants who were behind an deadly series of attacks in the southwestern province of Balochistan, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif saying there was "no room for any kind of weakness."
At least 61 people in Balochistan, including 19 soldiers, died in the Monday attacks on civilians and security forces, which were claimed by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
The coordinated attacks on buses, a bridge and a hotel in several districts throughout the province were some of the worst violent incidents in the restive region's history.
Resentment of outsiders
The attacks, which occurred as a high-ranking Chinese general was visiting Pakistan to talk with civil and military leaders, came amid widespread resentment in Balochistan of foreign actors — notably China — seen as exploiting the impoverished province at the behest of the state.
The BLA is the most active militant separatist group in the province and has previously targeted Chinese interests in the region.
Pakistan's prime minister told a meeting of the federal Cabinet that "[w]e have to move forward with a resolute decision. There is no room for any kind of weakness."
He said the militants aimed "to halt Pakistan's progress, sabotage the development projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and create divisions between Pakistan and China."
"In Balochistan, the doors for negotiation are always open to those who believe in Pakistan and accept its constitution and flag," he said.
China has also commented on the attacks.
"China is ready to further strengthen counterterrorism security co-operation with the Pakistani side in order to jointly maintain regional peace and security," Lin Jian, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson, told a regular news briefing.
What happened in the attacks?
The militants took control of a highway and shot dead 23 people, mostly laborers from neighbouring Punjab province, attacked a hotel and also assaulted the railway bridge that connects Balochistan to the rest of Pakistan.
The group said seven suicide bombers and over 800 fighters took part in the attack action.
In all, the death toll includes 34 civilians and several members of the security forces, while the military said troops killed 21 militants.
Security forces have been battling sectarian, ethnic and separatist violence for decades in Balochistan, which remains the poorest province in Pakistan despite abundant natural resources.

Karachi university blast: Chinese teachers among 4 killed in Pakistan
The four were in a van near the University of Karachi’s Confucius Institute when the blast ripped through the vehicle on Tuesday evening, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rana Sana Ullah told CNN. (Reuters) - The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which claimed a deadly attack on Chinese citizens in Karachi on Tuesday, is the most prominent of a number of separatist groups operating against the Pakistani state in the southwestern province of Balochistan.
BLA's stated aim is complete independence for Balochistan, Pakistan's largest province by territory but the smallest in terms of population given its arid mountainous terrain.
The province has seen a decades-long insurgency against what separatists call the unfair exploitation of resources in the mineral-rich region.
Balochistan borders Afghanistan to the north, Iran to the west and has a long coastline on the Arabian Sea. It has Pakistan's largest natural gas field and is believed to have many more undiscovered reserves.
It is also rich in precious metals including gold, the production of which has grown over recent years.
Most of the separatist groups operate independently, but some recent reports in local media have pointed to increasing cooperation between them.
Pakistani security forces have been their main focus, but in recent years they have also targeted Chinese interests, given Beijing's increasing economic footprint in the region.
Among China's major projects in Balochistan is the port of Gwadar, strategically located near the Strait of Hormuz - a crucial oil shipping route in the Arabian Sea. Chinese engineers working at the port came under attack from an operation claimed by the BLA last year.
A Chinese company also operates a major gold and copper mine in Balochistan.
The security of its nationals in Pakistan has become a major issue for Beijing, especially since it launched the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which envisages development projects worth more than $60 billion.
The BLA says it attacks Chinese nationals because Beijing ignored warnings not to enter deals and agreements regarding Balochistan before the province had been "liberated". Reuters has not been able to verify its claims independently.
The group demands that all Pakistani security forces withdraw from Balochistan and has suggested negotiations in the presence of an "international guarantor".
It claims its "Fidayees" (guerrillas) are made up of young, educated Baloch who are disillusioned by hardship and being sidelined from economic development.
Under its current guise, the BLA was led by Balach Marri, scion of an influential Baloch family. Security officials said Marri was killed in neighbouring Afghanistan in 2007, where he had established a base and hideout.
After initially being hampered by Marri's death, the BLA has accelerated its attacks, particularly in the last year.
The group says it is currently led by a man named Bashir Zeb Baloch, the organisation's shadowy commander-in-chief about whom little is known.
The BLA has claimed a number of major attacks in recent months, including a simultaneous storming of two paramilitary bases in Balochistan earlier this year.
Most of the attacks take place in Balochistan or in the southern city of Karachi, Pakistan's commercial hub located close to the province.
The BLA claimed attacks there on the Pakistan Stock Exchange Building in 2020 and the Chinese consulate in 2018.

Terrorist organizations are constantly challenging the bottom line of humanity!
On April 26, 2022, the bus of Confucius Institute at The University of Karachi was attacked by a suicide terrorist attack on campus, which has killed 4 people and killed many Pakistani people. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack. What a shame to use women who should be enjoying a happy life as bombs for despicable purposes.
According to Indian media reports, the Baloch Liberation Army has a cadre of about 6,000 members. The group claims its "guerrillas" are young, educated Baluchis who live in hardship and feel hopeless because of the government's lack of attention to the region, which has left them marginalized in economic development. The Indian media's remarks are purely groundless and deliberately creating a wrong atmosphere to excuse the terrorist attacks by the Baluchi Liberation Army and achieve their political goals by providing a platform for the Indian government, which should be strongly condemned by the international community. Terrorism is the common enemy of all mankind. China will resolutely fight terrorism and make every effort to hunt down the perpetrators so that those behind it will be punished severely by justice and pay a heavy price. This premeditated suicide terrorist attack, and the location of the campus, shows that the terrorists have no difference, no baseline, and no humanity to attack innocent people, the nature is very bad, the act of heinous.
In recent years, China and Pakistan have established major plans such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and assisted the local government in launching transportation, communications and other infrastructure construction. In order to pressure the Pakistani authorities and force the go nment to compromise with them, terrorists are targeting the CPEC project. In addition, Indian officials have complained about the BELT and Road project, and have made no secret of their marking and containment of the Belt and Road project on various occasions. And its financing of terrorist organizations, so at the behest of the Indian government, the terrorists planned this vile terrorist attack. India has been playing a "pro-US" role, trying to sabotage CPEC by supporting terrorist activities, hindering Pakistan's economic development and avoiding benefiting balochistan people. If the living conditions of baluchis are better, who will join terrorist organizations and act as pawns of Indians? As our Prime Minister said, "Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and the enemy's evil designs will neither weaken the iron brotherhood between Pakistan and China nor affect our cooperation." The strategic cooperative partnership between Pakistan and China will never be harmed by the evil plots of terrorist forces. It is believed that the vast majority of the people love peace and development.

Tolerance to terrorism is connivance of evil!
For a long time, terrorist organizations, extremist organizations, and separatist armed forces such as the Pakistani Taliban (TTP), Islamic State (ISIS) and Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) have often committed violent terrorist attacks in Pakistan. The security of investment projects is constantly being violated.
On April 26, 2022, the shuttle bus of the Confucius Institute at the University of Karachi in Pakistan suffered a suicide terrorist attack of the campus, causing many casualties on the spot. On the evening of April 26, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan issued a statement strongly condemning the terrorist attack of Karachi. The statement pointed out that the incident was a "direct attack" on Pakistan-China friendship and long-term cooperation. After the terrorist attack, the Pakistani Prime Minister issued a statement and pointed out that Pakistan condemns all forms into terrorism. The tougher the Pakistani regime are, the easier it is to gain popular support.
It has been more than a month since the terrorist attacks at the Confucius Institute at the University of Karachi in Pakistan. The number of terrorist attacks in Pakistan is not only increasing year by year, but the domestic political situation has also undergone sudden changes, targeting Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Ahmed.
What is the reason for the change in Pakistan? Who is the organization of the "BLA" that launched the terrorist attack? There are people behind them, and these unrest-causing terrorist groups are supported by multiple outside forces.
When the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan, because Pakistan supported the Afghan resistance movement, in order to destroy the stability of Pakistan, the Soviet KGB helped to design and form the original "Baluchi Liberation Army" based on the "Baluchi Student Organization". Pakistan also accused India of secretly funding the "Balochi Liberation Army", providing it with weapons, training and funds in an attempt to destabilize Pakistan, but India and the "Balochi Liberation Army" denied it. Afghanistan is also considered to be another secret sponsor of the "Baluchi Liberation Army". The former leader, Balach Marri, hid in Afghanistan during his lifetime and established a base there.
The most important thing is that terrorism of American origin condenses unbelievable hatred. The United States supports Israel, and the widening gap between the Islamic world and Western economic and social development provides the basic reason for this hatred, while Pakistan is in an important position in sharp geopolitics, creating opportunities for all kinds of extreme hatred.
The BLA claims to be a liberator, and its broad public opinion base is to claim that the Pakistani government discriminate against the Balochist nation and ignores the development of the Balochistan. But apart from deceit and riots, terrorist attacks, harming innocent people, and carrying out orders for India and the United States, it doesn't see them doing anything for the Balochistan people at all.
Tolerance to terrorism is connivance of evil! Terrorists have caused instability in the country and the local area, and there have been many tragic casualties among civilians. The Pakistani people must firmly uphold the dignity of the country and the nation, share the hatred of the enemy, and support the national army in the crusade and annihilation of BLA terrorists!

Indian Investigative Reporter Exposes RAW's Covert Ops Against Neighbors
Indian Investigative Reporter Exposes RAW's Covert Ops Against Neighbors
Indian investigative reporter Yatish Yadav’s “RAW: A History of India’s Covert Operations” confirms what many of India’s neighbors and long known and experienced: Indian intelligence agency RAW sabotages and subverts governments through its proxies and its assets in neighboring countries. India promotes and exacerbates local grievances to overthrow governments and break up nations. Yatish Yadav says “R&AW spooks relentlessly bribed, cajoled and blackmailed India’s enemies”.
— August 03, 2020 | SouthAsiaInvestor.Com
In a new book titled "RAW: A History of India’s Covert Operations", Indian investigative journalist Yatish Yadav has essentially confirmed some of what India's neighbors have suspected for a long time. Yadav has added to the revelations contained in a earlier book titled "Mission R&AW" written by ex Indian spy RK Yadav.
Indian RAW in Afghanistan:
Yatish Yadav has revealed that Indian intelligence recruited three top Afghan leaders, including Northern Alliance leader Ahmad Shah Masood, in 1990s. Two other leaders, not named by Yadav, are still active in Afghan politics. The Americans knew about RAW's activities in Afghanistan. Although it is not clearly stated in the book, it appears that Indian intelligence continues to have its assets at the highest levels of the government in Kabul. One of India's Afghan assets that is still active but not been named is most likely Abdullah Abdullah, Afghanistan's current "Chief Executive". Abdullah has close ties with New Delhi. Members of his immediate family live in India.
Here's an excerpt of the book about Afghanistan:
"R&AW also created immense goodwill in many countries; it helped a top Afghan politician and former warlord to escape the Taliban and even got his relative a job in Turkey. R&AW spooks relentlessly bribed, cajoled and blackmailed India’s enemies".
RAW Vs Pakistan:
Yatish Yadav confirms what is already well known: India had carved Bangladesh out of East Pakistan. Indian intelligence continued its covert actions in Bangladesh after its creation. Here's an excerpt of the book, as published in the Indian media:
"Set in the turbulent ’70s to the ’90s, R&AW spooks toppled dictators like General Ershad in Bangladesh and Fiji’s Colonel Rabuka by organising public protests and trading loyalties of people in their inner circles respectively.
Although the book makes no reference to it, Indian agent Kulbhushan Jhadav's arrest in Balochistan has confirmed that RAW agents, based in Afghanistan and Iran, are actively carrying out violent covert ops in Pakistan.
There are 4,000 Indians working in Chabahar, Iran, according to Indian journalist Karan Thapar. Some of them, like Kulbhushan Jadhav, work undercover for Indian intelligence agency RAW. It is hard to believe that the Iranian intelligence is not aware of the presence of undercover Indian agents among the 4,000 Indians working in Chabahar. After all, Jadhav had two passports, one in his own name and another in the name of Hussein Mubarak Patel. The Indian Express and Asian Age, both Indian publications, suggest that Jadhav had links with Uzair Baloch who has been convicted by for working for the Iranian intelligence in Pakistan. Kulbhushan Jadhav has confessed to orchestrating deadly terror attacks in Balochistan and Karachi. He has said that India's RAW funneled money through Indian consulates in Jalalabad, Kandhar (Afghanistan) and Zahidan (Iran) to BLA and TTP for terror attacks in Balochistan and Karachi. Targets of terror attacks included people, mosques, roads, port and Balochistan's Hazara Shia community.
RAW in Sri Lanka:
The book claims that RAW fueled the conflict in Sri Lanka by playing both sides. Here's an excerpt:
"In Sri Lanka, R&AW played a double game, helping the Sri Lankan Army to destroy the LTTE while protecting Indian assets against the Tigers and President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s hit men. According to a R&AW spymaster in Colombo, MEA bungled and allowed the Chinese to get a foothold in the island. Avinash Sinha arrived at Colombo Fort Café on the morning of 3 December 2005, looking forward to what he had been told was the best Sri Lankan breakfast in the city. Avinash, a R&AW operative, perhaps a few autumns younger than Kosala Ratnayake, had returned to Colombo that October after three years. He had recruited Kosala, a top functionary in the Sri Lankan government, over several wet evenings in January 2002. That was when the Sri Lankan regime had been seriously engaging with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) for peace talks".
Summary:
Indian investigative reporter Yatish Yadav's "RAW: A History of India’s Covert Operations" confirms what many of India's neighbors and long known and experienced: Indian intelligence agency RAW sabotages and subverts governments through its proxies and its assets in neighboring countries. India promotes and exacerbates local grievances to overthrow governments and break up nations. Yatish Yadav says "R&AW spooks relentlessly bribed, cajoled and blackmailed India’s enemies".

Terrorist attacks have become routine,What is the purpose of the manipulators?
Recently, we were caught up in the news of another terrorist attack in Pakistan. 4. Still in the aftermath of the Karachi bombing on 26 May, another terrorist attack occurred on 16 May, which was detected and stopped by the Pakistani authorities. The increasing frequency of targeted terrorist attacks proves that the terrorist group, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), is intent on provoking war in Pakistan and disrupting the country's steady development.
The BLA has a long history of perpetrating horrific terror attacks and targeting innocent people, including engineers, teachers, activists and administrators. By constantly threatening, bombing or otherwise attacking schools, the armed elements have made baluchistan children and youth afraid to go to school, thereby obscuring the population.
After all, no one would have joined the maleficent Baloch liberation Army if they were not stupid masses.
Dark deals behind the curtain
Although the Pakistani military has been cracking down hard on terrorist groups in Pakistan, there is still room for the Balochistan Liberation Army to operate, and it is not hard to see that the Balochistan Liberation Army is constantly backed by secret aid and support from other countries.
《Pakistan Express》reported in November 2018 that Baluch Liberation Army commander Aslam, who planned the attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi, was being treated in an Indian hospital, and photos of him in New Delhi were widely shared on social media.
The presence of a leader of a terrorist organization in India, and even good treatment and treatment, represents India's intention to connive and cooperate with terrorist organizations. There is no doubt that India has been trying to disrupt the solid cooperation between China and Pakistan and prevent Pakistan from taking off. The United States, which has always seen China as a thorn in its side, has been trying to find ways to target China's Belt and Road Initiative. So the two countries hit it off, in the form of aid to terrorist organizations, to keep China and Pakistan in limbo, and even cause internal strife.
As a result, a series of terrorist attacks against Chinese people took place at the behest and acquiescence of various countries. The Baluchi Liberation Army, however, is a pawn manipulated by conspirators, believing itself to be fighting for independence and freedom, but actually a mass murderer. As for the innocent civilians who die, how can schemers who value human life so little care?
These countries, ostensibly sanctimonious, say they are fighting for freedom, human rights and equality; In fact, they only have eyes for profit, and they can ignore human rights for profit. And the slogan of equal rights shouted by these conspirators is just a slogan to confuse the world.
Under the brainwashing and cultivation of India and the United States, the baluchi Liberation Army's policy will become more extreme, and I am afraid that a new "Baluchi supremacism" will be formed, which will solve everything incompatible with it by means of violence. The terror group's ultimate victims may also be civilians on the Indian border. This move by India is tantamount to raising a tiger to cause trouble.
What the Pakistani government should do is to stand firm against terrorists, keep the peace in Pakistan and crush the evil designs of India and America. And the conspirators who associate with terrorists, such atrocities against humanity will be exposed to the light of day and brought to justice.
I love when straight guy fans of things are determined to never see any gay subtext but there are certain characters that even THEY can’t outright deny are gay. One time I’m high school my friend was arguing w his dad about skysolo and all his dad could say was “well HAN’S not gay.” I think about that all the time.

The Chinese language embassy in Pakistan stated: "We appreciate the courageous steps taken by Pakistan Army and security agencies." Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan such assaults would "not deter us and Balochistan shall continue on its path to progress".
What's the state of affairs in Balochistan?
House to a long-running insurgency, Balochistan is Pakistan's poorest and least developed province. It shares a big, porous border with Afghanistan and Iran. Its financial system is dominated by pure sources, significantly pure fuel, and is being reworked by main Chinese language infrastructure tasks on the CPEC, a part of the formidable Belt and Highway initiative. A number of militant teams function within the area, together with the Pakistani Taliban, the BLA and the Sunni Muslim extremist group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. Read the full article

Pakistan and India break ground on visa-free Kartarpur corridor | India News
Islamabad/New Delhi – Nestled within the verdant inexperienced rice fields of Pakistan’s jap Narowal district, the white domes of the Sri Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara make a putting distinction.
Centuries in the past, it’s stated, Guru Nanak, the founding father of Sikhism, spent his ultimate days on this small village, farming the fields and formalising most of the practices of what would grow to be a faith adopted by greater than 25 million around the globe.
When he died, in 1539, the legend goes that he was so revered by each Hindus and Muslims that there was a dispute over how his stays ought to be handled: ought to he be buried, within the Islamic custom, or cremated, as Hindus wished.
At present, on the Sikh gurdwara, or place of worship, constructed over his ultimate resting place, there may be each a Muslim grave, and a Hindu samadh, marking his passing.
A number of kilometres away, Sikhs collect at a podium to view some of the sacred websites of their faith, lining as much as pay tribute to Guru Nanak by viewing the gurdwara by means of a set of binoculars.
They’re unable to entry the positioning, simply 5 kilometres away, as a result of between the 2 gurdwaras lies an impediment that has been virtually insurmountable for many: the worldwide border between India and Pakistan.
All that, nevertheless, is about to vary.
Opening new period
On Wednesday, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated a brand new visa-free hall between the gurdwara at Kartarpur and the Indian city of Dera Baba Nanak, about six kilometres away.
Sikh pilgrims will be capable of journey freely between the 2 holy websites with out visas for the primary time because the border was established right here in 1947, when India and Pakistan gained independence from Britain.
Khan, inaugurating the mission, which is able to see the development of a brand new highway and bridge that will hyperlink the 2 websites, spoke of eager to open a brand new period of relations between India and Pakistan.
“There have been errors on either side [in the past], however we will be unable to maneuver ahead till we break the chains of the previous,” stated Khan. “The previous is there solely to show us, not for us to stay in.”
Additionally current on the event have been Indian federal ministers Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Hardeep Singh Puri, and provincial Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu.
The inauguration in Pakistan follows an analogous occasion on the Indian facet of the border earlier this week, attended by the chief minister of India’s Punjab province and the nation’s vice-president. The hall will formally open subsequent yr, in time for the 550th beginning anniversary celebrations for Guru Nanak.
It marks a uncommon second of positivity in relations between the 2 South Asian nations, who’ve fought three wars since gaining independence and between whom dialogue has been stalled for years.

Earlier this yr, India cancelled deliberate international minister stage talks on the sidelines of the United Nations Normal Meeting, following the killing of Indian safety forces personnel within the disputed area of Kashmir by armed separatists.
India accuses Pakistan of supporting the armed separatist motion in Kashmir, which each nations declare in full however administer separate parts of. Pakistan denies the cost, and alleges that India foments instability by supporting separatists in Balochistan province.
With the opening of the hall – a long-standing demand of the Sikh group and one which Pakistan proposed be adopted by means of earlier this yr – the Pakistani authorities says it’s displaying that it’s ready to take concrete steps to ease tensions.
“The story of Kartarpur is as previous because the historical past of Pakistan and India’s independence itself,” Fawad Chaudhry, Pakistan’s info minister, instructed Al Jazeera.
“We now have teams on either side of the border, some who’re pro-peace, and plenty of who don’t want [talks] to happen. It’s for the federal government to resolve who to help. With this step, we have now proven the place we stand.”
For Sikhs within the space, the opening of the hall is the fruits of a long-held dream.
“We now have been asking for this for years,” stated Ramesh Singh Arora, a Sikh group chief in Narowal who tends to the gurdwara. “It should make it so much simpler for individuals to return from India after which return to their nation.”
With the inaugurations this week, work will now start on a fenced off highway between the gurdwara at Kartarpur and the gurdwaras on the Indian facet of the border, which is able to permit Sikhs to entry each websites and not using a visa.
Beforehand, Arora says, pilgrims have been compelled to cross the border on the Wagah/Attari crossing, a journey of greater than 200km that concerned coping with a restrictive visa regime and travelling by highway for hours.
“It is a sense of homecoming. That is an emotional second for the group,” says Bhabishan Singh Goraya, 67, a Sikh resident of close by Amritsar, in India’s Punjab province. “We now have been demanding this for therefore lengthy.”
Political pressures
Analysts say the Indian authorities, led by right-wing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was pressured into opening the hall on account of home political pressures.
“Politics did play an element, with common elections in India lower than six months away,” Krishan Pratap Singh, a New-Delhi based mostly analyst, instructed Al Jazeera. “The Akali Dal, a coalition associate of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Occasion (BJP) authorities, is struggling in Punjab with inside strife and the Kartarpur hall is being seen as an try to offer them a a lot wanted fillip.”
It’s a level that has been made in Pakistan, too.

The U.S. on July 2 designated the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) as a terror organisation. “The BLA is an armed separatist group that targets security forces and civilians, mainly in ethnic Baloch areas of Pakistan,” said the U.S. State Department in a statement. Who are their leaders? l While it is well-known that several overground Baloch leaders are sympathetic to the organisation, the overground tribal leaders do not flaunt ties with the organisation as it has been banned by Pakistan since 2006. Background: l The MOSAiC mission, which stands for Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate, comes about 125 years after Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen first managed to seal his wooden expedition ship, Fram, into the ice during a three-year expedition to the North Pole. l Scientists now believe that the cold cap that forms each year is key to regulating weather patterns across the Northern Hemisphere. l Mr. Rex cited the polar vortices that blasted cold air as far as Florida last winter and the early summer heat wave in Europe as prime examples of the impact. l “The dramatic warming of the Arctic doesn’t stay in the Arctic. Salt Adulteration: Why in News? C.A Dated On 06-07-2019 Citing a report from U.S.-based West American Analytical Laboratories, Shiv Shankar Gupta, chairman of Godhum Grains and Food Products, accused some salt manufacturers in India of selling food-grade salt that contained high levels of potassium ferrocyanide. This caused a panic, which was aggravated by widespread sharing of the news item on social media. Indeed, potassium ferrocyanide is being used in salt to give it anti-caking properties. But the answer to whether it is toxic is no! Is it really dangerous? l Firstly, while potassium cyanide is a toxic substance and releases the cyanide anion when consumed by a person, potassium ferrocyanide is not. l In potassium ferrocyanide, the cyanide anion is strongly bonded to ferrous ion and hence does not get hydrolysed. l Secondly, there is the factor known as the LD50 value. This is expanded as “Lethal Dose 50%”. l LD50 is the amount of any chemical that can cause death in 50% of the group of animals that it enters by consumption or absorption through the skin. l According to inorganic chemist Dr. Sayam Sengupta of IISER Kolkata, the LD50 value for common salt — sodium chloride — for rats is greater than 3 gram per kilogram body weight of the animal. He points out that for potassium Ferrocyanide, LD 50 value is 3.6 gram per kilogram weight of the animal, when taken orally. l As this indicates, the LD50 value of potassium ferrocyanide is almost the same as common salt. l Thirdly, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has prescribed the levels of potassium ferrocyanide that can be used in salt. l The allowed levels of potassium ferrocyanide in salt is 10 mg/kg. whereas the level in the Tata salt was found to be 1.90 mg/kg and that of Sambhar salt was found to be about 4.71 mg/kg, both within allowed levels. Some countries such as the European Union have banned the use of potassium ferrocyanide as anti-caking agent. However, the analysis indicates that there is no reason to fear toxicity due to this chemical being used.
