Now Playing! Wednesday, 11 January 2023:
El Rayo-X David Lindley (Asylum) (released in 1981)
This album probably should have been posted before Magic Bus because truth be told, I’ve had the title track of this album buzzing in my head since Christmas Day when I received the Flicker Alley Blu Ray of the Argentinian Film Noir El Vampiro Negro.  I have been singing variants of “I am El Rayo” since then and I even played this album on New Year’s Eve (in my car) but I never made it to Side 2 when the titular track plays!  Finally today I am blasting “El Rayo-X” and it feels fine.
Way back in the 70s and early 80s I was a huge Jackson Browne fan.  I saw him with three of my friends live the very day that Elvis Presley died.  He was touring the songs from Running On Empty before any of us knew those songs.  He informed us that he would be performing predominantly new songs for an upcoming live album (some of these tracks ended up on the actual album albeit in the hotel room from Edwardsville, Illinois but we were all enthused we were part of this album) and we all about died when Browne covered Maurice Williams and The Zodiacs classic “Stay” and David Lindley, who none of us knew what he sounded like, belts out the falsetto part of the song so perfectly.  It remains one of my favorite live shows I’ve had the pleasure of seeing.
With that knowledge still blasting in my head even five years later (and the knowledge that Lindley was an integral part of the Jackson Browne sound) the instant I saw El Ray-O on the new releases wall I snatched it up and I wasn’t disappointed when I brought it home.  This is a great party album and it did service plenty of outrageous parties in Champaign, Illinois where my best friend, Ken California, lived and played it incessantly.  From the opening track on Side 1 (She Took Off My Romeos) to the outlandish cover of Mercury Blues (which Lindley pronounces “Mur-cur-ree” and then proceeds to play one of the most sizzling white-hot slide guitar solos I’ve had the pleasure of hearing) and then of course there is the title track as well as a wonderfully slowed down version of the Everlys’ Bye Bye Love, this album is a jewel that most people don’t even know exists.  (And Ain’t No Way which might just be a strong contender for best song on the album and it was written by Bob “Fuzz” Fuller who also wrote She Took Off My Romeos.)
I’m not sure why I never bought the follow up 1982′s Win This Record credited to David Lindley and El Rayo-X but I certainly didn’t even though I remember when it was released.  I’m sure I’ll remedy this at some point.  Poor David Lindley, his third album never even got released in America (1985′s Mr Dave).  He is a true eccentric with a fine taste for covers that are incredible.  Start with El Rayo-X and move forward from there just as I’ll be doing at some point this year!

The Ultimate Guide to Choose A Professional Roofing Service in Edwardsville IL
Tumblr media
Are you building a new house or commercial property and looking for the best roofers? Or do you want to repair an old roof? Choosing the right roof installer for your project is a crucial step in ensuring success. That’s why you need to put much attention, time, and resources into finding the right company to work with. Don’t just hire the first service provider who knocks on your door. Find a professional, trustworthy, and honest roofing company. It may be challenging at first, but the rewards are fabulous, especially since your roof is an essential investment. Selecting the ideal roofing services Madison County IL will make your home safe, give you peace of mind, and won’t drain your wallet. Here are some tips to help you evaluate your potential roofing companies, as well as some things to keep in mind when comparing quotes and making your final decision. Select A Roofer With A Great Online Reputation When deciding on a company, take the time to review its reputation. What others say about a company is priceless. You can ask your neighbors or friends for suggestions on who to hire and who to avoid. Also, look at online reviews before you make your decision. Some websites also have helpful information that can aid you in deciding who to hire. Select A Roofer Your Friends And Neighbors Trust Your friends and neighbors should be one of many bases of information about local roofing companies. Still, their first-hand experiences provide empirical evidence to help you make the best decision for your home. Get a Licensed Contractor Licensing is a great deal in roof installation. Choosing an unlicensed contractor can leave you at a disadvantage. First, they may not know local roofing standards and regulations. If they install a roof that does not comply with local regulations, you will have a run-in with the authorities. Licensing also proves that a contractor is legit. Always ask to see evidence of licensing before hiring the roofing companies Edwardsville IL. Check Out their Experience It takes a long time to master a specific skill. If your roof installer has been in the industry for years, this is a sign that they’re professionals, and they understand what they’re doing. Years of experience also indicate that they can help you manage insurance claims and have warranties you can trust. Reliable contractors also have established connections with major manufacturers that distribute materials at wholesale rates. Don’t Make Price the Determining Factor Your budget is always an important factor to consider when hiring roofers. However, it shouldn’t be the only determining factor. You will come across contractors who offer appealing quotes that are significantly cheaper than the market price. Avoid these at all costs as they may end up producing low-quality services. Research online to determine the current prices and use this range as a guide when choosing roofing companies. Don’t pay for the cheapest—cheap is always costly in the long run. Ask About Insurance A roofing project is usually concerning. A lot of expensive materials are used. The task can be risky as it involves working at height. The last thing you need is to acquire losses due to damages or personal injury claims that have nothing to do with you. Work with an insured roofer. Their insurance should cover the whole project, including roofing materials. It should also include all workers who will be attached to the roofing task. Hiring a roofing builder may seem like an easy task, but it should be taken with a lot of weight. Take your time to choose the roofer and get recommendations to hire the best contractor for roof installing and Edwardsville roof repair. Select Your Leading Residential Roofing Experts It's hard to find a roofing team that fits the bill and offers you a great mix of quality, affordability, reliability and great customer service. It takes a lot of research, a lot of phone calls with potential roofers and a lot of trust in your gut.

Hello, Jasper!
Firstly, I want to thank you for your tarot readings! I would be grateful to you to let me get one for me. As I understood, it's free.
You can call me Lilou. My pronouns are she/they.
Let me introduce you to my story.
Now I'm a senior in high school. In a few months, I'll go to university. At least, my family expect this. And I understand that in the country where I live, people more often become successful having a university degree. Maybe it's not a big problem for other countries. I don't know much about it. Well, back to my thing. Now I need to choose what profession I want to get. It's not easy for me at all. That's why I'd like to have advice from tarot if I'm allowed to.
So, my question is, what profession does fit me most? Or, maybe, in what profession do I have the biggest potential to be successful?
Thank you, again. I hope I fulfilled all the conditions.
Wishing you peace and best luck,
Lilou💛
Hey there Lilou!
Yes, my readings here are free, but if you want to tip for my services, please consider donating to a relief fund for Mayfield, KY or Edwardsville, IL! Both were recently hit by intense tornadoes, so anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated!
I understand the confusion and frustration. Here in the US, people are pushed to go to college and get degrees that they're never actually able to end up using because having a degree doesn't guarantee you a job (especially not here in the Midwest).
I poked your blog a bit to get a better gist of who you are as a person and noticed that you seem to really love astrology, so I used Arcane (the Arcana of Astrology oracle) for this reading! To hopefully help alleviate some of the fear you may be feeling, I drew a card for both questions you asked - because these are not the same question, even if you think they are.
Question 1: What profession may fit Lilou the most? Answer 1: Lilith, the Shadow
The keywords of this card are shadows, darkness, power, equality, mystery, wild, and pettiness.
In astrology, Lilith is a comet that shows us where we should not compromise. In Jewish text, she is a demon who refused to sleep with Adam if they were not equal and then went on to become a baby-eating demon.
And in a reading, this card shows that when we stand up for ourselves, we're often faced with backlash and further punishment. This card tells us to not back down - you have the capacity to downright destroy those who continue to oppress you. But remember that strength sometimes is just walking away from the goals and expectations others have set for us.
So there are two ways to read this card in this context.
One is "fuck what everyone else says, fuck even going to college, do what makes you happy". While that's a fantastic message, it doesn't exactly answer your question.
The second way is as an advocate. Someone who stands up for others and gets them the help and resources they need. A lawyer, a therapist, a nurse, any of these could be indicated by the Lilith card in this deck. If you find yourself to be a very people-oriented person, these could be good careers for you.
Question 2: In what profession does Lilou have the biggest potential to be successful? Answer 2: Hygeia, the Purifier
This card's keywords are healing, cleaning, hygiene, and medicine.
In astrology, this comet (or asteroid, whichever term is actually right) is the ultimate proponent of health, ruling over eating habits, health issues, exercise, and how we interact with our environment. In Greek mytho-religion, she is the goddess of good health, daughter and attendant of Asklepios, companion of Aphrodite, and granddaughter of Apollo.
This card usually indicates a "spring cleaning" of one's mind, body, and physical space. We can only run on empty for so long before we get struck down. It can also mean a search for help on the medical front due to health issues. Like everything, this has the potential to spiral out of control, so self-restraint and critical thinking are still necessary.
More than with Lilith, this card is giving me major nurse or other medical practitioner vibes. Emergency medical services, nurses, doctors, even psychologists for more mind-focused healing - this could be a field you could be successful in if you really put your mind to it.
Gosh, I wish more querents would be like you and give me such amazing information to work with so I could make my reading as accurate as possible! As with everything, remember that the future is always changing, and your future is ultimately up to you.
Leave feedback as another ask that I can publish publicly and tell me what parts felt right, if anything felt off, stuff like that. Until you do, you will be added to my greylist. Please reblog my reading guidelines!

hey!! how are you doing? i saw that you were doing readings and i was wondering if i could get one :)
my initial is J (she/her) and i was wondering if i could get a reading about my friendship with M (she/her). we're currently close friends but due to different school schedule, we would not see each other as much next year. i was wondering if i could get a reading on how our friendship would turn out in the future? she is a good friend but sometimes we tend to fight a lot and have a lot of problems with each other that we would not talk about but instead keep it to ourself. i wanna know what our friendship dynamic is like because im not rly sure.
i hope the question is alright. thank you sm in advance
Hello there J! Yes, you can get a reading!
If you want to tip for my services, please consider donating to a relief fund for Mayfield, KY or Edwardsville, IL! Both were recently hit by intense tornadoes, so anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated!
I'll be using Abbot the Dragon Tarot for these questions to hopefully help you shed light on your situation!
Question 1: What is the dynamic between J and M? Answer 1: the Sun reversed
This card, when reversed, speaks of a great and achievable ambition that's almost in your grasp, yet blocked by obstacles. Perseverance and careful planning is called for. This isn't a time for leaps forward, but rather taking one concentrated step at a time towards one's goal.
There are two ways to read this card with this question. The first way is that you always feel like you have to plan ahead carefully when talking to M. The second way is that this is how M feels about you instead.
Question 2: What is currently the most likely future of J and M's friendship? Answer 2: Ten of Cups reversed
Disputes and bickering undermine your happiness and poison your relationships with others, not just with one person. The condition need not last, though, given enough patience and understand.
Overall, try to be mindful of where M is coming from (whatever that may be about, I don't know because I don't know either of you). If you two keep fighting, it'll harm your other relationships as well. Whatever method you go about with this (whether it's working through your problems with M or ending your friendship), you both can't survive in a state of constant fighting with each other. It'll only harm you both in the long run.
Overall, it honestly sounds to me (a third party that doesn't know you nor M) that you and M should really sit down and discuss your problems, perhaps with a neutral third party that could help mediate. From what I gather, you two have an extremely vitriolic relationship.
Leave feedback as another ask that I can publish publicly and tell me what parts felt right, if anything felt off, stuff like that. Until you do, you will be added to my greylist. Please reblog my reading guidelines!
