But who is WeeLye?

Born into a family of musicians in Kinshasa (DRC), WeeLye developed a taste for music, alongside his aunt singer in the famous Congolese rumba group "OK Jazz" and his uncle guitarist and bassist for the famous group Zaïko Langa Langa.

But it would be many years before she decided to make her voice heard. More at ease in the background of the spotlight, it was between choirs and singing lessons that she blossomed at the age of 18. It was only 10 years later, that she will rise to the front of the stage, pushed by her husband and the desire to take her own path.

WeeLye then traveled to New York, met the Brooklyn Funk Essentials, and embarked on the very first solo recordings. Between Paris and New York, she took the microphone as the opening act for Erykah Badu and FéFé and had the chance to share the stage with artists such as Keziah Jones, Faada Freddy, Camille BazBaz…
