Farewell but not goodbye

Dear WeaPoFamily,

Less than a month ago, WPL celebrated its sixth anniversary. I started the blog in 2012 and it was the start of a beautiful adventure. It helped assemble all Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje’s fans in one place, in one community, WeaPoFamily. Although our support to WeaPo will not fade, it’s time to wish farewell to WPL.

The decision to put the blog to rest is strictly personal, but also due to something we all suffer of at one moment or another in our life: lack of time. Many things change between your early and your late twenties. I’m now in the latter and busier than ever and the time for me to shape my career and start my own family seems to be just around the corner. I never was a person who does things half ways: I like to be committed to any project I dive into and, unfortunately, which I’m sure you have noticed, I wasn’t able to keep up the good work on the blog like I used to in the first 4-5 years. I am happy to not leave the fans and friends without resources. Those, indeed, have multiplied in the past couple of years, using almost the same tricks and tools as WPL – so you won’t even feel its absence.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that I won’t watch Weaver & Poje anymore or support them. Before anything else, I was a fan and will still be – although maybe from now on a more discreet one, cheering from behind the scenes as they say. My love and support grew through the years and will still do, even if it’s not manifested through gifs, videos, fan arts etc. anymore. That was a chapter of my life that I will be always grateful for and that have brought me joy and still does. So thank you all for your support to the blog, for participating in its projects, for saying kind words and appreciating the work. Thank you mostly to Weaver & Poje for shedding light on it and for the beautiful journey that I hope will still go on as much as possible. Thank you WeaPoFamily.

Wish WPL farewell, but not goodbye: its spirit will stay there, supporting, cheering, crying, laughing in the shadow (or maybe in a tweet or two… we’ll see about that 😉)

I was recently watching the 2011 Skate Canada FD. W/P went right before V/M, watching them back-to-back… the difference in… everything is pretty evident.

“Funny Face” may not be my favorite FD by V/M, but they make it work so well. I love how they utilize their lifts, the positions Tessa gets are amazing and Scott is such a rock solid base. Compare that to W/P… her positions are just bad, especially that lift where he’s spinning her around and she has her ankle practically to her head 😣 I thought with Andrew being so tall, they���d be able to hit better positions.

Anyways, that was a trip. Gotta go watch more V/M to cleanse my eyes. But thought I’d bring the is up to you to get your opinion on it. I’d love to heard Macaroni’s thoughts on this as well ✌️

I hear you. To their credit WeaPo did improve over the years but the fact that they kept doing the same lifts and twizzles for close to a decade and mostly stagnated in the last quad (aside from 2014/15). I also never liked their off-ice personas (#weapofamily is one of the most eye-rolling inducing hashtags imo) which felt very ingenuine to me and of course after the way they (and their fans) handled TS comeback it pretty much cemented what I was already feeling about them.

@carojill Were you do one who did a marathon of WeaPo's programs LOL? I don't remember who did one about year and a half ago as research and kept going on and on about their programs basically feeling the same.

Bouquet d’amour 2nd Olympic edition

Dear #WeaPoFamily,

I am very excited to invite all of you to participate in the second Olympic edition of the “Bouquet d’amour” project. As usual, we gather our love and support to Weaver & Poje before the Olympics in many shapes and colors!

Please keep reading to know all the details if you wish to participate before January 13, 2018.

As you all know, Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje are awesome skaters and human beings who always give back to their fans and who always show their appreciation for the love and the support they receive from #WeaPoFamily. We know that love and support helped them go through their highs and lows. As the second and most important part of the season is coming closer, I thought it would be a great idea if we all send them our best wishes, our love and our support in a cool and accessible way for all fans around the world.

How it works:

1. Send me anything you would love to say or show to Kaitlyn and Andrew:

- A letter or a postcard from you wishing them good luck and/or telling them how much you love/respect/admire them (if you want to write it yourself, then you can scan it later on, send it to me, and I will post it).

- A short video where you tell them your message or a photo of you (and your friends) cheering for them could work too!

- A fan art or a collage you made about them. Or a fan video!

- A list of reasons why you love, respect, admire and support them (example: Ten reasons why I… WeaPo).

- A photo of you and them together or your story about meeting them if you would love to share it with #WeaPoFamily around the world.

- A song, a quote or whatever else that reminds you of them.

- Anything could go! The project is very open to all suggestions and forms of showing the love. Be serious, be cool, be emotional or funny! It doesn’t matter as long as you share the love.

* Remember that language is not a barrier (plus, they adore foreign languages)!!!

2. I will gather all the messages, photos and videos, and post them together on a side tumblr blog that will be called “Bouquet d’amour” (love bucket) and that will launch somewhere after 2018’s Canadian Nationals. You can look at the previous editions here.

WeaPo ARE a couple. 'WeaPoFamily' is something they use to address their fans and it's been like that for YEARS.

Just because you write something in capital letters it doesn’t make it right. WeaPo have never confirmed they are a couple because they were never asked if they are a couple (why is it btw…?). As for the WeaPoFamily thing - it’s fine that they’ve been using it for years, it doesn’t make it less of a promotion tool designed to create a certain image (maybe that image is genuine, maybe it isn’t - to each his own).

ETA: Just to clarify I have nothing against WeaPo, but their fans need to stop believing they are the purest form of living and have no ulterior motives in anything they do other than sunshine and flowers. I know how to look realistically on TS, you should learn to do the same with WeaPo.
