Six moments you might have missed from NYFW 2024
Fashion month went off with a bang in New York City. With boundary-pushing designs and plenty of famous faces on the front row, New York Fashion Week (NYFW)2024 has wrapped up. And what a glittering season it has been! Filled with bold designs and celebrity-filled front rows. New York is often seen as the cooler younger sibling to Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks, and it didn't disappoint with the autumn/winter 2024 season. Here's what you might have missed from a week of fashion in the Big Apple… 1. Beyoncé sits in the front row. In a surprise appearance on Tuesday night, Beyoncé sat in the front row to watch her 19-year-old model nephew Daniel 'Julez' Smith Jr walk the runway at the Luar fashion show, a clothing brand "for the culture." The singer and her mother sat together, both wearing stylish outfits. She finished the look with oversized sunglasses, a holographic Luar bag, and a cowboy hat in the same color. 2. Molly Ringwald walked the runway. Sixteen Candles star Molly Ringwald opened the Batsheva show, wearing a dramatic hooded black gown, which the brand described on Instagram as "a velveteen funeral Jackie O dream." The 55-year-old is usually seen sitting in the front row, but this season, she joined an entire cast of models aged 40 or over. Designer Batsheva Hay had spent weeks recruiting random women for the show, telling The New York Times she did it because she was 42. "I find that aging is a big preoccupation for me and my friends. It's an area of discomfort in fashion," she said. 3. Tommy Hilfiger comes back home. Fashion veteran Tommy Hilfiger wanted to honor New York in his second show since the coronavirus outbreak. He staged the show at the Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station, with the likes of Damson Idris, newest brand ambassador Sofia Richie Grainge, and Kelly Rutherford all in attendance. "We thought it was time," Hilfiger told CNN ahead of the show. "Time to come back and celebrate New York. It's iconic, and it's where I started." From varsity bomber jackets and trench coats to striped jumpers and polo shirts, the mega-brand was bold and modern in its interpretation of preppy fashion. 4. Blake Lively makes an appearance. In support of her good friend Michael Kors, the actress and Gossip Girl alum attended the autumn-winter runway shown Tuesday. The mom of four wore a giraffe-print trench coat and mini skirt with brown boots. She attended the Super Bowl to see the Kansas City Chiefs win against the San Francisco 49ers. Taylor Swift, Ice Spice, Lana Del Rey, Miles Teller, and Keleigh Sperry spotted her watching the game. 5. All eyes on Area Interestingly, to celebrate its 10th anniversary, Area broke from tradition and debuted spring/summer clothes instead of the usual autumn/winter collections. The designers drew inspiration from Sixties pop art and 1920s cartoons and studied the outfits with statement googly eyes. The designers drew inspiration from Sixties pop art and 1920s cartoons and studied the outfits with statement googly eyes. Area's collection delves into the interplay between viewing and being viewed. It explores the dynamics of essentials and the extraordinary. The collection reconstructs the interconnection between fashion and its observers. Area shared this on Instagram. 6. Storybook drama at Thom Browne After a spell in Paris, Thom Browne returned to the New York Fashion Week schedule in a suitably dramatic style. A veteran of the industry – and the chairman of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) – he's known for high-production-value shows, and this season was no different. Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's poem The Raven, models walked around a wintery wasteland of a catwalk. More than just a runway show, this was performance art – one of the 'trees' on the runway turned out to be a man on stilts wearing an oversized puffer jacket, and four children emerged from the coat to watch the show. The clothes were suitably Gothic – practically everything was monochromatic, with models wearing sculptural headpieces. Moreover, the fashion show emphasized tailoring and boxy silhouettes with a sporty edge. It was a dramatic and exciting experience for everyone, including celebrities like Janet Jackson and Queen Latifah, who enjoyed the show in the front row. Read the full article

ILLEGIBLE’S TOTALLY SUBJECTIVE FAVORITE EORZEA COLLECTION DESIGNS: FEMALE
I’ve mentioned in the past, the main thing that made me start playing FFXIV properly was seeing people’s character designs. I’m still honestly blown away by the creativity and range of approaches people bring to this game, so I’ve decided to be an absolute madwoman and break my favorites into subcategories to share with anyone curious.
And to be clear. I’m not going to do something so broad as “oh top ten in-general :3″ because that would be sensible. No, I’m going to do it for all the current combat jobs. And all the current races. And different genders within the races and combat jobs as things stand. And I’m going to make a face-focus subcategory. And there are gonna be LOTS. Because I seriously cannot understate how inspired I’ve been by this community, and after however many years I just feel the need to vomit some incredible visuals I’ve encountered at you guys lol.
NOTE: In an abundance of caution, I want to stress this list isn’t a value judgment on anyone but a fragment of things that blew me personally away. Looking at the DRK sections it will be immediately clear that I Illegible really like that edgy dark knight aesthetic lmao, but there are plenty of non-edgy dark knights that I also love to bits. Other people might not like edgy dark knights. Due to a combination of size and search constraints plus trying to keep gear somewhat varied, these glamours are just what wound up on this particular list of mine. I could make another list one day. Other people can make lists too that are totally different.
Also, I was originally going to make a single post that went over male and female options presented in the character creator but straight up tumblr wouldn’t let me save because it got too big. You can see the male character post here.
Without further ado, let us begin.

A/W 2020 Fashion Month: Before Vogue Went Blank
Hi to anyone reading,
I’m sorry this post is so late! I really have no excuse apart from all my mental energy being taken up by shooting and editing my Euphoria lookbook up until now and me being too much of a lazy, nap-loving twat to face the mammoth task of a fashion month review; honestly, by the time it’s done, it’s like a dissertation-level amount of characters, so let’s say the final push to get this out is in sympathy with all my 3rd year friends I started uni with finishing their ACTUAL dissertations.
Things have got scary since I originally started saving the photos for this post, and the world has been turned upside down. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the likes of which have not been seen since the Spanish Flu, Italian Vogue’s April cover was blank. As I’m writing this, 26,000+ people have died of coronavirus in Italy, the worst affected country behind the U.S in terms of sheer numbers ( though quick update: as I post this, I’m pretty sure our incompetent prick of a PM has made sure we’re up there too). Proportionally, the actual death rate is even higher, along with a handful of other European countries. There have been some complaints made about the cover and it’s supposed “lack of imagination”; all I know is that in a country whose death toll accounts for 10% of worldwide coronavirus deaths, something of a visual silence feels appropriate.
That being said, for me, writing is one of the only things giving me a sense of purpose right now. Yeah, surprise surprise, working in a grocery store isn’t all that fulfilling. Who would’ve thought it? So what better time to reflect on a time when all the rich people of the world were going about their lives as usual and sitting front row at fashion week rather than crying on Instagram live to their millions of followers about how trapped they feel in their 10 bedroom mansions.
I’ve got to say, this year’s A/W offerings were a lot better than I expected, mostly due to the fact that I’m not generally a big fan of winter fashion; it’s hard to be disappointed given my preconceptions! There’s only so many knits and coats and jeans you can see before it begins to get a bit tiring, and I expected that to be reflected in the presentations. Fortunately, even the brands which are known for their bohemian, Coachella-esque collections generally managed to translate that into something recognisable and consistent on the runway whilst actually being weather appropriate. Of course, there were a few disappointments-I’m sure if I say one of them begins with D, you can guess which brand I’m talking about-but that was more than made up for by the standouts. Gucci in particular was my 2013 Tumblr wet dream and the Moschino show was what I can only describe as a live continuation of Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette, though I’ll stop with my praise there and wait til I get to actually reviewing before I go overboard with kissing Alessandro Michele’s ass. And on that note, in chronological order, I’ll get one with the reviews! First up, Acne:
Continuing on a winning streak when it comes to catering to my personal preferences (if someone tries to tell me designers don’t care about my personal preferences I’m going to whack out that “just found out the world doesn’t revolve around me, shocked and upset” Marina Diamandis tweet), Acne once again channels futuristic hippy commune living in a dystopian wasteland. I know, those are very specific personal preferences
I love the shredded hems and the burnt velvet, the rawness of it all, and the baroque/your-nan’s-wallpaper patterns are actually a surprisingly nice touch. I imagine if Giselle from Enchanted had to make her dresses out of a thrifty goth’s curtains rather than an upper-middle-class New Yorker’s, they’d look something like this collection. You’ve even got the odd bit of classic fresh Scandi tailoring in there with the oversized coats and blazers which holds it back from being a bit TOO flea market. Plus, the renaissance painting detailing on the black leather-look coat is a stunning detail as well; I’m so glad it seems this trend is here to stay, why wouldn’t I want random nude bodies all over my clothes?
As for the styling, I can’t get enough of the tousled hair. As an eternally tired person who can't be arsed to pick up a brush most of the time, I feel represented. Along with the outfits, it says “I’m an art student/transient painter in the 70s living in a city loft who smokes a lot of weed and does acid on the regular” and that is a life worth manifesting.
Alberta Ferretti was dreamy, and a perfect example of how to translate the bohemian aesthetic of their S/S show to A/W. Somehow despite the furs, ruffles (pussy-bows under tailored jackets and knits/generally heavier pieces always looks really chic imo), tulle, metallic tapestry style prints and chunky jewellery, it all still looks very effortless, like a natural continuation of what we saw last summer; the typically masculine structure of the oversized suits with the ornate patterns and the accessories lends to the careful navigation along the line where maximalism and minimalism meet, the looks as practical as they are decorative. Picture it: you work some high-flying, powerful job in the city, commute on a motor cycle and roll up in one of these suit sets. This collection is for the edgy businesswoman who is completely comfortable telling all the twattish males she works with where to stick it and I want to be her.
The evening gowns are, of course, stunning too. In this analogy where I am a powerful businesswoman and not a pushover who works at a grocery store right now and only beefs with rude customers, I would be wearing one of them to the boujie work Christmas party. The ruffled dresses remind me of something Valentino would put out with the colour palette and the ruffles, and whilst we’re on the topic of colour palettes, this one is beautiful. The lilac and hot pink is SO right.
Though predictable, Alessandra Rich is just as much of a treat as usual, the first brand you’d go to if you were styling a throwback it-girl, Chanel Oberlin in Scream Queens if it took place 30 years earlier. Reminiscent of an amalgamation of vintage Chanel and Versace, there are so many cute details I love here, from the white tights with the black heels and the double breasted blazers to the gold chainlink belts and the pearls. The tartan suits with the shoulder padding are very Heathers, the prints the best of your mum’s 80s wardrobe, and nobody else out there is doing bows as well as this; these are the outfits that prissy bitch wears in the cartoons of my childhood that turn out to actually be quite good fashion inspo 15 years later, Trixie Tang from Fairly Odd Parents I’m looking at you.
This girl was the blueprint.
I think someone like Lilly Collins or Daphne Groeneveld would be an ideal fit for any of these looks, or Lana Del Rey if she wanted to stop serving us middle-aged suburban soccer mom and took us back to those H&M ad campaign days. Lana stans please don’t come for me for saying that, I am one of you; I say this because I love her. It’s all altruistic.
Whilst I admittedly didn’t love it as much as last summer’s, I really enjoyed the Alexander McQueen collection too, plus I had a better idea of what to expect this time round; no, we’re not gonna get a repeat of the Plato’s Atlantis show but we do always get some beautiful pieces. Again, like with Alberta Ferretti, this seems like a natural continuation of what we saw in the summer, just with adjustments made for the colder, darker, and altogether moodier months. A/W being the gothier older sister of S/S, it seems right that a lot of the looks turn their back on the ethereal, almost fairy-like feel of what we saw before and embrace the vampier side, reds and blacks (the ultimate Bratz Rock Angels colour combination), plenty of dramatic structures and formidable suit sets. It’s punk but it’s classy, and even with the lighter pieces, we’ve got the grunge inspired harnesses on top to contrast with the elegance and effectively, toughen the whole look up, something Gucci does well too.
The patterned suits with the clunky boots in particular are very cool and I need a gun metal grey heart detailing harness, but undoubtedly the MOMENT of this collection is Adut Akech in what appears to be a silver chainmail dress. She looks like an Amazonian goddess, and whilst I could never dream of pulling something like that off myself, I could happily admire her in it for hours.
There wasn’t much to get excited about at Altuzarra. The collection was very elegant for sure and the feathered belts are cute but it was all quite pedestrian and nothing new-the only detail I really like is the cut out on the second dress from the left, 3rd row down.
As for Anna Sui:
I’m not altogether sure why I wanted to review it. A lot of the outfits as a whole are a bit messy, and not in that avant-garde, expensive-looking Margiela kind of way, just in a “how many fabrics can we possibly get on this model” kind of way. Plus, the styling seems weirdly outdated-a lot of the jewellery looks like the kind of thing you’d see if you searched “gothic choker” on Ebay and ordered the results from low to high, and the makeup and hair in particular is very 2012 Tumblr fashion blogger. Backcombed hair and red lipstick? We’ve got a Zoella thumbnail on our hands.
When the collection did go down the bohemian route though (and when that route wasn’t a failed attempt at what Etro does a lot better), there were a few nice pieces and prints. I mean you really can’t go wrong with a teal fur trimmed coat.
Ashish, on the other hand, took their aesthetic from a similar era and did it a lot more creatively and kookily; this collection looks a lot more deserving of being on a runway. The prints are so loud and costume-y that at times the garments risk looking like something you’d wear at a decades themed dress up party, but they’re saved by understated and much more commercial silhouettes, plus some gorgeous hair and make up. On the whole, very groovy, unintentional disco queen, despite the few risks that didn’t quite pay off.
Next is a brand I always look forward to. In the words of Myrtle Snow:
BALENCIAGA!
Seriously though, if any brand knows how to blend costume and high fashion, it’s them. They take over-the-top, almost absurd silhouettes and turn them into theatre. This year we’re taking it in the direction of Phantom of the Opera, I guess? Dracula? The Woman in Black? An off-broadway production of Harry Potter where Snape is the protagonist? Whatever the direction of the collection is, I live for the dramatics of it all. Demna Gvasalia got these models walkin’ down the runway like they’re members of the Volutri, which is a reference you should all understand given the renaissance Twilight is having online atm.
Straight off the bat, I adore the staging, and all the models are exquisite-the theme of the show was climate change, and I always love when there’s a story behind the presentation of the clothes. I can’t imagine how amazing this must have been to witness in person, though I’m guessing equal parts mystical and intimidating. There are so many things I love here: billowing coats, cinched in waists, the pattens that are sprinkled sparingly in amongst the black, and the bloody shoulder pads that almost run PARALLEL to the model’s necks. This is really a collection that Myrtle Snow would be proud of and brb whilst I get rid of my padlock necklaces in favour of putting whatever meagre amount I can get for them on Depop towards a Balenciaga padlock belt (as if, lol, I don’t even think selling my soul would cover it).
And then there’s Balmain, which isn’t always the fashion critic’s favourite, but which I do tend to like.
I mean there are some really good takeaways here-though the 80s inspired suit, as wearable as they are, can get a little repetitive, they are staples which here seem to pave the way for Olivier Rousteing to try something new for the brand. The moulded breast plates (reminiscent of the Tom Ford one Zendaya wore though I’m not sure which came first!), for example, along with the Matador-style capes and the flowing silk dresses are the most glamorous incarnation of Lara Croft one can possibly imagine, probably just as equally suited for a Roman goddess as they are for an Assassins Creed style action heroine. And yes, I am aware of the fact that Tomb Raider and Assassins Creed are two separate games, okay! I just don’t know enough about the visuals of either to firmly plant this collection in the camp of either one, so I’m going down the crossover route with it!
Not to say there weren’t any bad choices-I omitted a good portion of the looks that were shown; there were definitely pieces that I found to be a little tacky, particularly a recurring chain print which has got to be one of my least favourite patterns out there. Overall, though, it’s gonna be the richly coloured art-deco prints, the wet-look boots and the gem-encrusted scorpion brooch which stick with me, so I’ll let it slide.
Bottega Veneta was very meh; even of the looks I picked out, there are a lot I’m now looking back at and wishing I hadn’t included. Some of the men’s pieces are nice, sure, and I feel like one of those vaguely sick, victorian ghost looking male celebrities everyone obsesses over (Timothée Chalamet and Dane DeHaan I’m looking at you) would make those suits on the second row look fine af, but it’s mostly the womenswear that I’m here for and on this occasion it wasn’t great. A couple of the coats are nice and that’s about it. Like I really had to act as if the tassels weren’t there on a lot of the clothes and go from there because I really don’t like them in this context and if I was to veto looks purely on one of the garments having tassels, there’d be nothing to show or reference when giving my opinion on the show. They were EVERYWHERE. In a summer collection, done right, they can be a nice detail but here they just feel unnecessary and if I’m being honest, are quite ugly.
Thank god for Brock taking the sour Bottega Veneta tassel taste out of my mouth. Never a let down. Literally, everything they put out sends me into a daze of imagining I’m in some romantic drama wearing one of the pieces, in a man’s idea of “no makeup”, running round in a field looking forlorn and windswept because my ghostly lover has-
Okay, you get the picture. I’ve never read Wuthering Heights, but it goes something like that, right? If not, lets just say envisioning myself in any of these catapults me straight into some period drama where I’m born into wealth and sit by my mansion window looking sad all the time and writing poetry and lusting over some stuffy upper-class man I can’t have and who is probably played by Colin Firth because I’m pretty sure that’s what happens in most of them (about to enrage my future English lit undergraduate sister with that line).
Nobody does modest, muted sexy to such a masterful degree. I mean, when Maison Marigela did face veils I was just mildly afraid, but here they’re subtle enough that they’re quite beautiful and almost other-worldly, acting as some kind of boundary between this world and the past that Brock aims to recapture through its designs-the red lip popping out from underneath is a perfect touch too. I don’t like it AS much as the summer collection but I would say that’s solely on the basis of the more autumn/winter appropriate colour scheme and the heavier fits, which is just a personal preference. I mean, I’m usually not a fan of empire waistlines at all and Brock even manages to make that work.
Burberry this season was a real mixed bag, mostly due to the styling. There are some really gorgeous, London back alley vintage shop looking pieces, especially the 70s style coats, reminiscent of outerwear a slimy record exec would've worn back in the day repurposed by someone like Alexa Chung or Zoe Kravitz or whichever effortlessly cool woman it is we all want to be-also the private boy’s school rugby gear looking shit is classic Burberry and I’m a fan of that, even though it’s not the most inventive or exciting. I just don’t get why there had to be SO much ill-fitting plaid over ill-fitting plaid. Again, like with Bottega Veneta, I thought the menswear was a lot stronger; whilst I wasn’t really wowed by anything, it seemed a lot less forced, whereas a few of the womenswear looks gave me the vibe of a design team desperately grasping onto some ill-conceived ideas of street style and relevancy.
The design team at Carolina Herrera for example, know their niche. They never try to be something they’re not, always sublimely preppy and pretty and predictable-when it comes to target market, the bag is reliably secured. Laid- back princess dresses never get old for those constantly “summering” in one expensive coastal town or another, for the rich American moms attending charity galas and the Spencer Hastings and Blair Waldorfs of the world; women with glossy hair and fresh faces who act as if they woke up looking like that polished but are actually anal as hell and take 2 hours to get ready and would NEVER, I repeat NEVER, shit in a public toilet.
Yes, I managed to worm toilet habits into a review of a Carolina Herrera collection. I’m sorry. Enough with the pearl clutching.
Next is Celine:
I mean, when there are THIS many looks, it’s hard not to find something you like, and though VERY predictable and verging on lazy when you’re putting out the same shit every collection, Celine’s aesthetic is so similar to my own ideal style, it’s hard to be mad at it. That being said, a lot of the pieces, as per usual, came across as cheap YSL knock offs; the overall outfits are cute, but the more you look at the details-it particularly pained me to include a metal bow belt and an ill-fitting velvet skater skirt but I liked the rest of the outfits-the worse it gets. Please, PLEASE someone drive it home to Hedi Slimane, I’m begging you: QUALITY NOT QUANTITY. I get what he’s going for, 70s hipster Jane Birkin is a vision I can very much get behind, but not when it seems to be so rushed.
With the men’s looks, you can get away with it a lot more; when so much of menswear is so plain and unchanging, the slightest hint of Mick Jagger is enough to make a outfit edgy. But even then, I still feel like we’re seeing a load of variations of the same outfit. There are always some pieces that catch my eye, this time round the capes and the velvet blazers, and I would wear most of these things, sure, however I don’t think the combinations SHOULD necessarily look like something I’d personally put together; a runway collection is supposed to be aspirational and cutting edge, not pedestrian (entirely intentional self-drag, lol). Also, side note, the lack of diversity really bothered me. 111 looks and not one of these models has a body type that is naturally achievable for most people. It’s 2020 for fuck’s sake. I’m tired.
SO, let’s liven things up a bit with the Central Saint Martins collection, a breath of fresh air in terms of diversity (though a few more plus-size models would be nice):
As a former University of London student, I hate to heap praise upon them. If you’ve studied in London as well, you’ll know CSM students are ANNOYING. I mean, I’m sure they’re lovely as individuals but you can’t fully understand the meaning of the word pretentious until you’ve seen a group of them at a Uniqlo Tate Late. That being said, they are very good at what they do and I’m so glad that Vogue Runway includes them; this is what Off-White thinks it is, and really it makes sense that a bunch of current fashion students are able to come together to present one of the most experimental and forward-thinking shows of this season.
And let’s talk about the RANGE. From catsuits worthy of comic book heroes to dresses Twiggy would’ve worn in a 1960s editorial, every subgenre of fashion has been fully delved into here. Whilst we’ve got the adrogyny of the suits and suspenders combo and kitschy gender-bending co-ords David Bowie would be proud of, at the other end of the scale we’ve also got models walking down the runway dressed like wood nymphs or some other kind of siren-like creatures. There’s looks that wouldn’t be out of place in a Gucci or Come Des Garcons collection but at that same time would be equally at home in a Berlin techno club.
Honestly, credit where credit’s due-it was a really interesting show and I wouldn’t expect anything less.
Chanel was quite literally the polar opposite of the CSM show.
Very blah.
It’s crazy because before you properly get INTO fashion, Chanel is like the epitome of style. And then you do, and you see the runway shows get lazier and lazier (with some exceptions) every year, and you realise that same prestige that had you aware of Chanel at the age of 7 or 8 is literally all that’s keeping the brand going at this point. I’m not saying the collection is flat out ugly, a lot of it’s cute, but you’re CHANEL for fuck’s sake. Yeah, I like the crucifixes but SCALLOPED HEMS!? No. I do NOT recall travelling back in time to witness Primark’s Spring 2013 collection on the runway and I am NOT having it.
It’s not at all surprising that a lot of the time newer brands Charlotte Knowles (above) tend to be more interesting than those more established-and yes that was a Chanel indirect if the transition wasn’t obvious.
With no room to rest on laurels or reputation, everything has to be bolder and smarter and more distinctive and most importantly, has to appeal to its target market with the fervour of an L.A sign spinner. I only found out about Charlotte Knowles because of a Vogue article citing her as Bella Hadid’s new favourite brand to wear, and once I saw the collection, it was clear why; daringly modern, slick, and edgy is both her street style (say what you want about her as a model but her outfit game is unbeaten) and Knowles’ USP to a T. If Dion Lee, Off-White, GCDS and Acne had an orgy, this would be the result, and that is a GOOD compliment.
Next, Chloe:
Not a huge amount to say, to be honest. Low-key, wearable, and cute. Like Emma Roberts’ Nancy Drew if she did an autumn exchange program at the Sorbonne and studied art history, libraries and coffee shops on the weekdays and galleries and protests at the weekend. On reflection, that definitely makes this collection sound more exciting than it is but there are some effortlessly beautiful pieces here. The 4th row in particular is full of stand outs-the vest with the watercolour faces on with the shirt underneath is perfection, and the burgundy suit with the saffron ruffled collar peeking out from underneath is adorable and not at all reminiscent of the Ronald McDonald inspired nightmare that any combination of red and yellow tones should theoretically be.
As for Christian Siriano, I see why people hate it, I really do. I understand that it seems kinda unfair to have it show the same week as Brock and Rodarte and Oscar de La Renta. We’re talking 2 very different kinds of quality here. BUT, at pure face value, his clothes are FUN, plus Coco Rocha will always have a special place in my heart as someone who lived on The Face and America’s Next Top Model and every show that could possibly give me an unhealthy body image ever.
Like are you telling me you wouldn’t wear these dresses to a party!? Live a little. They just need tailoring...which ideally would be done BEFORE the model’s walking down the runway in it but...you know...can’t have it all.
Christopher Kane is a show I always look forward to.
I would say his designs are the only thing that make geometry look fun but I’m going to expose myself and admit that would be a lie because I actually found geometry really fun. Trigonometry was my shit, lol.
He is a designer who perfectly demonstrates that juggling interseasonal consistency and taking risks can be done. There’s always something DIFFERENT about his collections, fresh and subtly experimental. There are occasionally a few misses, sure, but I’d rather that than for a brand to keep playing safe, plus he never goes too far in the opposite direction either; no going weird for the sake of weird. I don’t like it AS much as the summer collection but it’s mostly because of the more muted, autumn/winter appropriate colour palette.
Comme Des Garçons? Too weird?
Never.
Honestly when it comes to a CDG collection, I have to really shift my perspective to appreciate it. I’m not looking at fashion presentation, I’m looking at a moving piece of experimental art. I know, it’s a stretch. But you know you’ll never be bored by one of their shows. Not gonna lie, this specific collection crossed the line into plain ugly a couple of times for me. We had padding so extravagant it looked like several models were walking round with Ikea pillows stuck to their chest and headdresses reminiscent of the kids’ game Headbandz. In amongst that though, we did get some gorgeous veils like the ones seen above and the shoes and socks combo is actually quite wearable.
I’d say Dilara Findikoglu is the cut-off point after which things get a little too avant-garde for my personal taste, and it hovers over that cut-off point flawlessly; despite the other-worldly elements of her collections, they remain somewhat grounded by nods towards conventional fashion that allow the beauty, be it inner or outer, of the wearer to shine through. Comme Des Garcons garments undeniably have character but they tend to swallow up any trace of the individual underneath, whereas the character of Dilara Findikoglu garments seamlessly merges with the wearer and in turn elevates both to something transcendent and ethereal. If the Pussycat Dolls got transported into a rugged, post-apocalyptic future, they’d scrape together these outfits to perform in, I know it; the energy of the collection, with the body jewellery and the frayed cut outs and the chalk white faces, is very warrior princess, just as raw and intimidating as it is hot as fuck, and I want that energy in my life. Along with a Dilara belt, of course. I would wear her name like a badge of honour anytime she wants. Dilara, pls pls let me be part of your tribe. PLEASE.
Anyway, this is where I thought I’d cut things off, so as to end on a positive note. You know what that means: Dior is coming up. I feel bad knowing my first post was defending Maria Grazia and yet here I am now, looking at the bar down on the floor, but I mean, you never know; maybe girl is doing this on purpose and one day she’s gonna come out with a Gucci level quality show like a phoenix from the ashes.
If you got this far, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING even if you’re just here for the pics. Part 2 will be covering some of my most anticipated shows from Elie Saab, Fendi and Etro to Gucci and Moschino, Miu Miu and Marc Jacobs, and everything in between. Yes, the shitty ones too.
I’m plowing through all the material as quick as I can so I hope to get the next post up really soon, and yes-you can count on the overwhelming sense of needing to be productive pushing me into fulfilling that statement.
Thanks again and I hope you’re well!

When I first designed Winter, she was planned to be an Institute play-through. I did then and I still do regard the Institute as somewhat evil, or at least very selfish, so I sought a rigid and cold look. As it was 2015, I was heavily inspired by the ongoing Game of Thrones, so I modeled the character’s look after the Others.
The silver hair, the snowflakes on her face, the blue eyes (which were the iciest blue first), and even her name, ‘Winter’ was part of it. I tried to create her husband reminiscent of Jon Snow as well (and I failed miserably, creating the most soft and golden hearted character I ever did in the process).
Then, almost five years later I downloaded a mod that came with the ‘Dragonstone’ hairstyle. I tried it on her, and heck... am I the only one seeing any similarity? (Probably.)
But it made me remember the origins of this character and how wildly different it went down than imagined.
I originally wanted her to enter the Institute at some point, and to leave the whole Wasteland behind without a second thought when she reunited with her son. I was waiting for the right moment to backstab the Minutemen idea and join the Boogeymen.
But...
I’m a casual gamer, a scaredy-cat if you will. In Skyrim I didn’t face Alduin until level 70-80-ish, and the first play through of Winter I only went to Fort Hagen at level 41. I took my sweet time building settlements (a feature I really love!) and I gradually, forgot my original idea of her ‘cruelty’ and pending betrayal.
Also, when I heard the voice of the characters, how hurt, scared, angry or sympathetic she was and seeing her emotions in dialogue camera... it did something to me.
Winter overgrew me. She lead her own damn life. She never stole. She never murdered. Instead, she collected toys for Winter. She was around to help everyone. Like... everyone. She made friends.
I realized she won. She was a goody two shoes and I wasn’t about to change that.
Her involvement with the Railroad was purely a gameplay effect for me first, but I realized I cared. They were right, fundamentally, even if their methods leave something to be desired.
Her involvement with the Brotherhood was for gameplay reasons too, and I only decided to support the BoS because I wanted to see Liberty Prime in action. Yes, that’s it, and because I wanted her to date Danse and didn’t know there was an option to abandon Maxson’s cause at a certain point. But by that point, she was so heavily involved, I could not erase that.
Instead... I started to write her story. It was horrible at first, and I had awful plans. It was supposed to be more of a crackfic at first, but again, the story decided to write itself. At least in my head, as there’s not much of it published sadly. (I’m doing my best to scrape the story together sentence by sentence. I’ll get there I promise)
Then I realized... This character could potentially do so much more. She has a good speech skill, a vision of the future and some personal advantages to rely on.
My writing was crap and I still try to live up to the promise that Winter is. I’ll get you there baby, please hang on!
Which takes me back to... well, Daenerys. She was my favourite of the whole show for so long, and even though I saw the signs, I thought they will be there to build up her character, to make her realize how badly she could screw up, but I always thought she’d be the one to sit on the damned Iron Throne, or at least, she’d survived.
There’s not too much other similarities between Therka and Dany, but I wanted to say that Daenerys was some kind of an idol I had when designing Winter and I still try to keep those good qualities.
Winter is a good ten years older, and has lot less responsibility, so I think she’ll turn out just fine.

🖊 a fact for each oc you have!
Ohh thanks for asking! This is gonna be long :D
Ashera Mahariel (DAO): Her favourite season is winter. She loves to take long walks in the snow, she finds nature so quiet and peaceful then.
Marlow Hawke (DA2): She has quite a big library in her house in Kirkwall and always collects books for it. Of course she has all of Varric’s books.
Sellia Lavellan (DAI): After the events of Inquisition and Trespasser, Sellia and Cullen need a serious break from everything so they start living in a cosy cottage near the ocean and Sellia’s clan.
Jules Shepard (ME): She’s a real grump in the morning until she gets her coffee. The only one brave enough to talk to her then is Kaidan.
Charly Ryder (MEA): One of her favourite hobbies is snowboarding, something she tries to do on Voeld too.
Saranya Ryder (MEA): Before she and Reyes officially got together, they spent a long time exchaning emails and video calls on an almost daily basis.
Nancy Rhine (Fallout 4): She used to be a great cook before the War. In the Wasteland it’s hard to find good food to eat, but Nancy really enjoys experimenting with the ingredients she can get and after a while all of her friends find an excuse to visit her whenever she has cooked something.
Emilia Goodridge (Fallout 76): She’s an avid cryptid hunter and devours every piece of knowledge she finds about Appalachia’s cryptids. Her absolute favourite is the Mothman, so she even collects things with him, like mugs, shirts or posters. She was totally thrilled to find the Mothman museum shortly after leaving Vault 76.
Elise De Sardet (Greedfall): She collects a lot of different things - firearms, feathers, seashells, gin, old watches, plants, books and ship models. Her houses are pretty cluttered and can seem chaotic, but she has her own sense of tidyness.
Minor OCs are under the cut :)
Rhiannon Kiang (Far Cry 5): Her hobbies include making music, horseback riding and being out in nature.
Clara Stensen (Detroit Become Human): Sometimes she doesn’t see a single human soul for days but instead happily spends the time with her Corgi Noodle.
Erin Satou (Saints Row): She was orphaned as a baby but luckily adopted by two loving fathers early on. She has a very close relationship with them.
Julia Quinzy (Hogwarts Mystery): As soon as she started to go to Hogwarts, she wanted to join the Quidditch team. Curse breaking came in the way, but she finally manages to join as a beater in year 4.
Keria Balaaye (Skyrim): Although she comes from a wealthy family, she had lost everything when coming to Skyrim after she shipwrecked. She feels extremely guilty about it but relies on theft and pickpocking at first, hence why she joined the Thieves Guild early on.
Shalisa Harim (The Arcana): She loves gardening and is very interested in the different uses of herbs and plants. When you find her in her garden, she almost always sings or at least hums.
Remy Wyatt (Stardew Valley): The first animal she had on her farm was a tomcat she called Pebbles. She needed to save a lot of money before she was able to buy cows or chicken.

what does it mean to you to love God and others?
Love is the fulfillment of God’s law.
and even though no person is perfect enough to do this perfectly, yet grace is still available to perfect the heart in our Creator’s eyes which humbles the heart & mind.
people choose either Light or darkness to live inside where desire begins.
and we will get nowhere in the absence of humility before our Creator. we have to see ourselves as daughters & sons of eternal Light.
Today’s reading of the Scriptures from the New Testament is the 15th chapter of the Letter of Romans:
So now what? We who are strong are not just to satisfy our own desires. We are called to carry the weaknesses of those who are not strong. Each of us must strive to please our neighbors, pursuing their welfare so they will become strong. The Anointed One Himself is our model for this kind of living, for He did not live to please Himself. And as the Scriptures declared, “When they insult You, they insult me.” You see, everything written in the days of old was recorded to give us instructions for living. We find encouragement through the Scriptures and a call to perseverance that will produce hopeful living. I pray that our God, who calls you and gives you perseverance and encouragement, will join all of you together to share one mind according to Jesus the Anointed. In this unity, you will share one voice as you glorify the one True God, the Father of our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One, our Liberating King.
So accept one another in the same way the Anointed has accepted you so that God will get the praise He is due. For, as I am fond of saying, the Anointed One has become a servant of the Jews in order to demonstrate God’s truth. Effectively this confirms the promises He made to our ancestors and causes the non-Jewish nations to glorify God for His mercy. As the Scriptures say,
For this I will praise You among the nations
and sing praises to Your name.
Again the Scriptures say,
Nations, celebrate with His covenant people.
And again,
Praise the Lord, all nations.
Raise your voices, all people; let your praises flow to God.
Again Isaiah says,
Then, the root of Jesse will emerge—
He rises to rule all the peoples of the world
who come to Him for guidance and direction.
In Him they place their hope.
I pray that God, the source of all hope, will infuse your lives with an abundance of joy and peace in the midst of your faith so that your hope will overflow through the power of the Holy Spirit.
My brothers and sisters, I am ultimately confident that you are full of goodness, knowledge, and the ability to help and instruct one another. I have written to you with unflinching honesty on many topics because I do not want you to ever lose sight of the tremendous grace God has given me. His grace makes me who I am, a minister of the Anointed One, Jesus, called to serve the nations.
The good news of God is the focus of my priestly work. In effect, these nations have become an offering to God, totally acceptable, indeed made holy by the work of the Holy Spirit. So in Jesus, the Anointed One, I have reason to celebrate the things I do for God. I don’t want to be presumptuous, so I will restrict myself to what the Anointed has accomplished through my words and actions, which has culminated in the obedience of the nations. My words and actions have been rooted in Spirit-empowered signs and miracles. The upshot is this: I have been able to preach the good news of the Anointed One in city after city from Jerusalem all the way around the Mediterranean to Illyricum. I have dreamed of preaching the gospel in places where no one has ever heard of the Anointed so that I do not build on a foundation laid by anyone else. But as the Scriptures say,
They will see Him even though they’ve never been told about Him;
they will understand even though they never heard of Him.
Because of many issues, I have not been able to visit you in the city of Rome. But my time to serve those here is coming to an end, there’s no room left for me in this region, and I have longed to come to you for many years. So I plan to visit you on my journey to Spain. I am hoping that I will not only see you face-to-face, but that you will assist me in the journey west after I have enjoyed our time together. But right now I must make the journey to Jerusalem to serve the saints there. Those in Macedonia and Achaia decided it was a good idea to share their funds to help the poor among the saints in Jerusalem. I must tell you that they were thrilled to be able to help. They realize that they are indebted to the believers in Jerusalem. If the nations share in the Jews’ spiritual goods, then it’s only right that they minister back to them in material goods. When this work is complete and the funds we’ve collected are delivered, I will make my way to Spain through your grand city of Rome and enjoy some of your hospitality. I’m sure that when I come to you I will come as a blessing and as one fully blessed by the Anointed One.
My brothers and sisters, I urgently plead with you by the name of our Lord Jesus, the Anointed, and by the love of the Spirit to join together with me in your prayers to God for my success in these next endeavors. Pray that I will be rescued from those who deny and persecute the faith in Judea and that my service in Jerusalem will meet the approval of all the saints there. If that happens, then my journey to you will be filled with joy; and, if God wills, I can rest and be refreshed in your presence. I pray the God of all peace will be with you all. Amen.
The Letter of Romans, Chapter 15 (The Voice)
Today’s paired chapter of the Testaments is the 34th chapter of the book (scroll) of Isaiah that points to an act of God’s Judgment upon wickedness:
Gather around, everyone. All peoples take note!
The earth and everything in it,
The world and all that comes from it should hear this, too,
For the Eternal One is furious with all the nations. He has had it with their armies.
He has marked them for destruction, and has given them over to slaughter.
Their blood will run like rivers down the mountains,
their corpses tossed out, heaped up, and randomly piled in a great stinking mound.
All the stars in the once-vibrant heavens will vanish:
and the sky will be rolled up like a scroll.
All the starry hosts will wither and fall,
like grape leaves crisped by fall or fig leaves shriveled by winter.
Eternal One: For once my sword has had its fill in the heavens;
I’ll set it against Edom, those people who despise My own.
I have marked Edom for judgment and destruction.
The Eternal One indeed has a blood-gulping sword.
It drinks up fat and blood from the innards
And flesh of lambs, goats, and rams—the sacrifice.
And now the Eternal is coming to sacrifice the Edomites—
A great slaughter in their capital Bozrah,
And great wild cattle will be slaughtered
along with them—bulls, oxen, and steers—
Until their land is soggy with blood and oozes with their fat.
For the Eternal has determined a time for retaliation,
a time to vindicate Zion, ravaged by Babylon and Edom.
Edom’s waters will be made thick and black as oily pitch.
Its dust will turn to brimstone, and the land will ignite with burning pitch.
Edom’s fiery judgment will burn day and night for all time;
the smoke from it will ascend forever.
For generations to come it will be a wasteland,
and no person will make it their home ever again.
Desert owls and screech owls, great owls and ravens
will take up residence in that bleak place.
When God measures the land,
desolation will be its width and chaos will mark its length.
The land will be known as No Kingdom.
No nobles are there to name a king. Its line of princes will cease.
Its great towers will be covered in thorns.
Nasty nettles and thistles will overrun its strong cities.
Wild jackals will slink around the premises,
and ostriches will make themselves at home.
Among the howling and hissing wild creatures and demons,
Lilith herself, demoness of the night, will call Edom her haunt,
A place to recoup and rest between her devastating forays.
Owls of all sorts will take up habitation there,
nesting and laying their eggs.
They will hatch their young and cover them beneath their wings.
Vultures and their mates will gather there.
You can look for it and read all about it in the book of the Eternal One.
None of these creatures will be missing and none will lack a mate
Because His voice has given the order
and His Spirit has gathered them in that place.
He has determined where they should live;
He has handed it over to them and it will be theirs for all time.
They will live there, one generation after the next, forever.
The Book (Scroll) of Isaiah, Chapter 34 (The Voice)
A link to my personal reading of the Scriptures for monday, july 12 of 2021 with a paired chapter from each Testament of the Bible along with Today’s Proverbs and Psalms
A post by John Parsons that points to the significance of documenting Torah, as well as all of Scripture since what it all reveals is the True illumination of the Son:
Shavuah tov, friends. This week we begin reading the concluding book of the Torah, called Sefer Devarim (ספר דברים), so named from the phrase eleh ha’devarim (“these are the words...”) found in its opening verse (see verse below). In our English Bibles, Sefer Devarim is known as the Book of “Deuteronomy,” from a Greek word meaning “second (or repeated) law” (i.e., δευτερονόμιον), a term used to translate the phrase mishneh ha-Torah (i.e. שׁנה התורה, “copy of the Torah,” in Deut. 17:18). Generally speaking, this book represents Moses’ “farewell address” to the people of Israel before he died wherein he reviewed the history and the laws given to the people and repeatedly warned that obedience would bring blessing while disobedience would bring disaster. The series of personal discourses (or sermons) in this book all have the tone of rebuke and admonition, and indeed some of the sages have said it resembles a sort of “deathbed blessing” not unlike Jacob’s blessing given to his sons...
Our Torah portion (פרשה) for this week, called parashat Devarim (פרשת דברים), is the very first reading of the Book of Deuteronomy – which begins with Moses recounting the journey from Mount Sinai to the edge of the promised land. Moses mentioned the difficulty of personally governing the people and recalled how he had set up a system of judges to help him administer justice among the various tribes. He then reminded the people of the sin of the spies and the rebellion of the people at Kadesh Barnea which led to God’s decree that no one of that generation would live to enter the land of Canaan (except for Caleb and Joshua). Moses then provided an outline of the 38 year exile of the Israelites back toward the Sea of Reeds, into the desert regions, and then back again until the subsequent generation was ready to enter the promised land. and another about the space of the inner life:
The inner life of the self can be one of tranquility and peace, or it can be one of turmoil and struggle -- as we sense forces within our own hearts that seek to pull us away from what is good... What is hidden within can become a destructive force, ready to erupt in unexpected moments. We have to be careful to "take every thought captive" before the presence of God, since otherwise our thoughts can lead to chaotic thinking and unrestrained emotions. If we allow ourselves to self-indulgently murmur or envy, for example, such thoughts may surreptitiously become a fixed part of our character.
As C.S. Lewis once said: “Hell begins with a grumbling mood, always complaining, always blaming others... but you are still distinct from it. You may even criticize it in yourself and wish you could stop it. But there may come a day when you can no longer. Then there will be no you left to criticize the mood or even to enjoy it, but just the grumble itself, going on forever like a machine. It is not a question of God "sending us" to hell. In each of us there is something growing, which will be hell unless it is nipped in the bud.” (Great Divorce)
We can find deliverance from our inner conflicts by humbling our self and opening our heart to a trusted friend, as it says: "Confess your faults one to another and pray for one another, that you may be healed" (James 5:16). A good friend will make time to quietly listen to the story of your struggle and to then extend grace, compassion, and forgiveness, serving as a priest for your heart, revealing God's kindness and mercy in your darkest of moments... The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it (John 1:5). [Hebrew for Christians]

Today’s message (Days of Praise) from the Institute for Creation Research
July 12, 2021
The Right Man on Our Side
“Behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not.” (Luke 22:31-32)
Satan wanted Peter to fall, and fall he would (v. 34), but Christ had prayed for him that victory would come. The second verse of “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” reflects our vulnerability on our own and our invincibility on His side.
Did we in our own strength confide,
Our striving would be losing;
Were not the right man on our side,
The man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus it is He,
Lord Sabaoth, His name, From age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.
After revealing many thrilling blessings, Paul asks: “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). Furthermore, neither “principalities, nor powers” nor any thing else in all creation is “able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39). With Him, Satan cannot win the battle for our minds or destinies. But on our own, we cannot win.
The term Sabaoth is the Hebrew word for “hosts,” in particular the “host of heaven.” The term Yahweh Sabaoth or “Lord Sabaoth” occurs some 300 times in the Old Testament and constitutes a most majestic name for God. “For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called” (Isaiah 54:5). This is none other than “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8). Creator (Colossians 1:16), Sustainer (v. 17), Redeemer (v. 20)—He must win the battle. JDM

Fallouts 5-75 reviewed | Rock Paper Shotgun
Within the build-up to the discharge of Fallout 76, we felt it was essential to place the sport in its correct context. With that in thoughts, we commissioned video games historian Nate Crowley – aka @FrogCroakley – to write down capsure opinions of Fallouts 5 by means of 75. We’ve been posting these opinions five-a-day on Twitter ever since, till the work was accomplished final night time. You possibly can nonetheless learn all these tweets in the #AllTheFallouts thread, however now you can additionally learn them under.
Annoyed by fan stress to return to the sequence’ retro roots, Bethesda launched Fallout 5 as a kind of handheld LCD video games from the late ‘80s. Play boiled all the way down to transferring the Pip-Boy left or proper to keep away from pixellated radscorpions, however was completely executed. #AllTheFallouts
Taking the “sorry mate, I don’t suppose it goes any louder” method to criticism, Fallout 6 was launched on parchment scrolls, with fight dealt with through handwritten, horse-delivered correspondence with Bethesda. No person has but completed the tutorial. #AllTheFallouts
Eerily, no one’s certain who developed Fallout 7: Rise of the Dogmen, because it merely appeared in thrift shops. Certainly, we could by no means discover out: when the titular antagonists started turning to digicam & reciting gamers’ childhood fears, all copies have been seized and burned. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout eight was the primary within the sequence to happen totally inside a vault, and concerned the participant making an attempt to handle the citizenry’s panic over a bee getting in. Not even a mutant bee, only a common one, making individuals bark in fear because it swerved close to their ears. #AllTheFallouts
Unusually, Fallout 9 was a Japan-only launch referred to as 不死学校生活 (Ghoul Faculty) – on this charming highschool RPG, the participant was tasked with navigating the tutorial and romantic trials of a younger necrotic post-human within the depths of Vault 12. Really fairly good. #AllTheFallouts
Refusing to just accept Fallout eight’s failure, Bethesda doubled down with Fallout 10: The Bee’s Again: basically a clone of Fallout eight with a better polygon depend. Not less than the sport’s tagline (“There’s a black and yellow dot. It makes a irritating noise”) was sincere. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 11 had a brilliantly easy premise: Fallout four’s Institute discovers the physique of Jason Statham in a lead sarcophagus, and it escapes. The sport famously led to a hellish quicktime occasion by which Statham, managed by the participant, eats an entire nuclear conflict. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 12 was notably noteworthy, as the one technique to play was to insert the disc in a chimp’s mouth and look into the creature’s eyes, whereas softly holding its palms as controllers. No person will say what they noticed within the eyes of the ape, however it modified individuals. #AllTheFallouts
There was no Fallout 13. From time to time a narrative will floor a few mountain of video games buried manner out in Nevada, or of a ragged-furred, floppy-eared determine loping spherical the sting of a campfire’s mild – however individuals say a number of issues, out within the desert. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 14 got here with a novelty energy armour helmet peripheral, which launch contextually-generated smells. Sadly, a bug meant it wouldn’t come off, and solely produced the scent of deathclaw butt. Has retained a disturbingly dedicated fan base. #AllTheFallouts
In Fallout 15: Brotherhood of Feels, Bethesda put aside the same old post-apocalyptic landgrab to give attention to the emotional lifetime of tooled-up nuclear battlemonks. Regardless of its lowkey pacing, BoF was lauded by critics for its haunting commentary on poisonous masculinity. #AllTheFallouts
After the crucial success of BoF, Bethesda pissed all of it away with Fallout 16: Masters of Pepsi – a grotesque extravaganza of product placement by which no character might appear to complete a sentence with out staring on the participant & gorging down a tin of brown fizz. #AllTheFallouts
Because the rights dispute between Bethesda & Interaction resurfaced through the run-up to Fallout 17, an exhausted decide ordered the sport’s improvement foisted onto a randomly chosen fan – who panicked, and made a janky reskin of Streets of Rage starring the Pip-Boy. #AllTheFallouts
By some means, Fallout 17 was a smash hit, and dev Jeff Mince took on auteur standing. His subsequent work, Fallout 18, was a ‘minimalist’ open world sport, the place gamers might discover 2 rooms & discuss to an outdated boot. Fearful of wanting thick, reviewers hesitantly gave it 10/10. #AllTheFallouts
After spending a yr locked in his studio, Jeff Mince launched Fallout 19, a rhythm sport about lashing a person to demise with a string of sausages. Transient, ugly, and virtually unplayably brutal, it tore away the emperor’s new garments, and made Mince a pariah in a single day. #AllTheFallouts
Bethesda returned triumphant with Fallout 20: Fawlaaht – a sport set in a vault populated totally by clones of cockney hardmen. Gamers might select whether or not to facet with Vinny Jones’ Guvnors faction, or pledge allegiance to the power-armoured Mitchell Brothers. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 21 was an oddity: a transport container filled with the costumes, gear and script required to play your entire sport as a LARP. Buried simply outdoors Washington DC, the container is about to unlock provided that radiation on the floor reaches cataclysmic ranges. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 22 was shipped as a standard installment within the sequence, however when it arrived in shops it was packaged as ‘Return of the Dogmen’, and accompanied by creepy mascots no one had employed. Affected shops have been closed, and the video games have been impounded & destroyed. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 23 was an avant-garde entry to the canon, the place gamers took on the function of an AI tasked with maintaining a vault door closed. Play concerned merely holding a button down for twenty 5 years in realtime, after which a quick celebratory cutscene would play. #AllTheFallouts
Packaged with a full alto saxophone as a controller, Fallout 24 was neither low cost nor simple to play. Nonetheless, it was all value it for the sheer ecstasy of wailing the solo from ‘Baker Road’ with a view to minigun tremendous mutants throughout an atomic bombardment. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 25 was an odd one. A administration sim of kinds, it put gamers in command of Vault 420, an experimental shelter which solely grew one extraordinarily potent crop. Sustaining productiveness with survivors who solely needed to have a look at their very own palms was… difficult. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 26: Enter the Battletoads turned what might have been a light-hearted crossover right into a gruelling survival horror nightmare, as gamers discovered themselves pursued by means of a nuclear hell by a trio of gurning, hench amphibians with no idea of pity or regret. #AllTheFallouts
After Fallout 27’s code was unintentionally wiped on the eve of launch, the discharge comprised solely what the panicking intern accountable might hammer collectively in an evening. Sympathetic reviewers praised the best way the sport’s protagonist, a dot, drifted throughout the display. #AllTheFallouts
Many rumours encompass Fallout 28. Whereas most recall a mediocre turn-based ways sport, a spate of reddit posts on launch day reported the title display bearing the slogan ‘can’t cease the dogmen’, and taking part in unusual whining sounds even with audio system turned off. #AllTheFallouts
Chic celeb tie-in Fallout 29 (launched as Diners, Drive-ins & Deathclaws) noticed hollering TV chef Man Fieri voice a peroxide-maned mutant with BBQ sauce for blood, searching for the best roadkill in America following the detonation of a 900-gigaton Taste Bomb. #AllTheFallouts
Following the tragic vanishing of former dev Jeff Mince, Fallout 30 was retooled as a tribute to the nice man, whose work was by now again in favour. The ultimate sequence – a person being lashed to demise with sausages in sepia slow-mo – was a cello-scored tearjerker. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 31 was a daring experiment in augmented actuality, superimposing a grim wasteland on high of gamers’ native areas. All of it turned nasty when a person burned down a kebab store, claiming the Pip-Boy had informed him to. Considerably uncomfortably, this turned out to be true. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 32, launched as Fallout: New Crinkley, was set on the dilapidated set of 1990s British discuss present Noel’s Home Celebration. Edmonds himself was portrayed as a leather-harnessed warlord, who would unleash dreadful thrall Blobby to run gamers down & devour them #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 33 was meant to eschew the franchise’s cartoonish aesthetic for a gritty, extra life like really feel, however it seems that spending 30+ hours of sport time watching a group step by step starve to demise beneath a nuclear winter was a little bit of a downer. #AllTheFallouts
Rushed to market to cheer individuals up after 33, Fallout 34 was a reasonably unremarkable sport – till some genius launched a mod that changed all the sport’s textures with Nicholas Cage’s face, and all dialogue with low high quality WAV clips from Con Air and The Rock. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 35 was the primary to function the Utah Crab Males, however was extra notable for an easter egg: in an space solely accessible by clipping by means of a hill, gamers discovered a disquieting NPC resembling Jeff Mince sewn right into a canine costume, silently mouthing the phrase ‘assist’. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 36’s protagonist was a kind of post-apocalyptic Steve Irwin, monitoring down mutant wildlife & wrestling it right into a corrugated metallic & chickenwire zoo. FPS segments have been interspersed with a kind of desperately unethical model of zoo tycoon. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 37 was well-known for introducing tooth as its major character stat; as you explored additional & defeated extra foes, you’d develop extra & extra gnashers, till your character was staggering alongside, head bowed by the sheer weight of calcium sprouting from its jaws. #AllTheFallouts
The discharge of Fallout 38: Usain Bolt’s Salt Vault (a few plot to steal condiments from a bunker filled with livid clones of the famed sprinter) led followers to accuse Bethesda of ‘working out of concepts’, however they insisted that they had at the very least one other 38 video games in them #AllTheFallouts
Submit-apocalyptic in identify solely, Fallout 39 was a shame of a sport set in a recruitment agency 500 years after society’s rebuilding. Play revolved round barking right into a plastic cellphone, making an attempt to work out which dialogue choices would cajole individuals into accounts roles. #AllTheFallouts
All was forgiven when Fallout 40’s opening cutscene revealed the earlier sport to be a psychological experiment performed by the nefarious Utah Crab Males, a race of pincer-headed, pinstripe-suited bastards obsessive about recreating 21st-century company tradition. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 41 reprises the unique’s premise with a boozy twist: the Lager Chip within the participant’s vault is on the blink after 200 years of continuous partying, so they need to come out & get a brand new one earlier than everybody sobers up and has to endure a really apocalyptic hangover. #AllTheFallouts
In Fallout 42, you performed as a lone wanderer whose solely possessions have been a can of hairspray and a shoe. They have been no use as weapons, however by huffing one from the opposite, you would step by step, quesaily, flip the sport into the particular stage from Sonic 2. #AllTheFallouts
After an ethical panic sparked by Fallouts 41 & 42, Bethesda have been compelled to show Fallout 43 into an prolonged advert for sobriety. Chems like Jet & Fury have been changed with healthful fruit & veg, whereas the Pip-Boy delivered prolonged sermons on the risks of dependancy. #AllTheFallouts
Following the same old leaving-the-vault intro, Fallout 44 had gamers step out into an peculiar world, pissing itself over having tricked so many individuals into residing in a gap. The remainder of the sport, like life, was largely about holding down a job & making an attempt to not cry. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 45 was a bizarre, dreamlike remake of Fallout four, the place the sport’s factions had united in terror of a determine referred to as ‘the king beneath the hill’, and would implore you with grimly life like eyes to guard them from his military of canine/human hybrids. Unsettling. #AllTheFallouts
While you first step into Fallout 46’s wasteland, it’s lifelessly serene: simply rocks, ruins & wind. Half an hour in, a twig snaps behind you & you flip, simply in time to glimpse a flash of orange fur you’d recognise wherever. It’s Gritty – and you might be being hunted. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 47 was a 5-Nights-at-Freddy’s-esque nightmare the place you performed a wasteland radio DJ, desperately making an attempt to queue up the right vinyls, whereas enraged tremendous mutants burst out of air ducts & bullied you into taking part in ‘Cotton Eye Joe’ over & over once more. #AllTheFallouts
In Fallout 48, you’re captured by a ghoul with a style for theatre & given 6 months to placed on the definitive efficiency of Ready for Godot, or see your house vault levelled. After roaming the wilds to discover a solid, the distress of educating them their traces begins #AllTheFallouts
Pulp masterpiece Fallout 49 noticed the participant pitted in opposition to the cyborg hulk Mecha-Oppenheimer, commanding a legion of radioactive undead GIs from a long-buried WW2 analysis bunker. In his personal phrases: are you a foul sufficient dude to defeat Dying, destroyer of worlds? #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 50 is usually notable for a wierd NPC, claiming to be a time traveller, who garbles a warning about “a fantastic, damaged vacancy”, one thing in regards to the quantity 76, and a “legion of bugs”, earlier than being consumed by a swarm of rats. Who knew what he meant? #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 51 was an unintentionally chic remake of Three Males and A Child, that includes three towering mutant bachelors – voiced by Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel & Jason Momoa – entering into scrapes & japes as they try to take care of a self-aware nuclear warhead. #AllTheFallouts
One other Japan-only title, Fallout 52 (launched as きれいい けいじ – “fairly apocalypse”) was a kawaii dress-up sport, the place you would outfit your roster of raiders, ghouls and mutants in innovative harajuku fashions, earlier than posing them for baffling pictures. #AllTheFallouts
In an unlikely mix of ‘Fury Street’ & ‘The Guardian Lure’, Fallout 53 challenged the participant to rekindle the romance between two tremendous mutant warlords, by tricking them into chasing one another throughout the wastes in a nihilistic demise race. Surprisingly heartwarming. #AllTheFallouts
In puerile puzzler Fallout 54, you performed the only real plumber in a vault stocked solely with beans & sauerkraut. May you unclog the pipes quick sufficient to cease the vault drowning in its personal effluent, or would you simply put a brick by means of the display in disgust? #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 55 challenged you to flee the lightless depths of the dreaded ‘Vault W’, which Vault-tec had populated totally with bioengineered manifestations of countercultural icon Waluigi. Performed a bit like horror film ‘The Descent’, however with extra ‘wah’. #AllTheFallouts
In a weird throwback to early ‘90s edutainment, Fallout 56 noticed the V.A.T.S system reconfigured to deal harm commensurate with the participant’s means to unravel easy maths & logic issues, with the Pip-boy turning into a patronising, know-it-all bastard. #AllTheFallouts
“You suppose you’re secure” intones a hoarse voice, as you stand over the physique of Fallout 57’s last boss. Behind you, a dog-headed determine stands on a distant peak. It raises a paw, glowing with queasy sigils, & you wake screaming, with no hint of the sport in your PC #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 58: The Courtship of Mugnarr was a courting sim, by which you performed a sweating colossus with a microwave for a head & a coronary heart of gold. Would you select debonair deathclaw Garko, or Bludwig, the paladin with a delicate facet beneath his energy armour? #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 59: The Nuptuals of Mugnarr continued the story of the oven-headed titan, dealing with you with tough narrative selections as you deliberate the massive man’s marriage ceremony. Seat the ghouls too close to the atomic demise cult, or order the unsuitable vol-au-vents, and there’d be hassle #AllTheFallouts
After painstakingly rebuilding followers’ goodwill, Fallout 60: A Residence for Mugnarr squandered all of it – the sport was totally primarily based on Fallout four’s maddening development system, so 90% of play time was spent desperately begging metal plates to stay to the bottom. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 61, a.okay.a ‘It’s All the time Sunny in Diamond Metropolis’, centered on a gang of utter scumbags working a dive bar within the jewel of the commonwealth. Play revolved round petty acts of spite, heavy consuming, and incoherent, quicktime-driven shouting matches. #AllTheFallouts
Sooner or later in any franchise, a rubbish cellular sport turns into inevitable. Enter Fallout 62, a vaguely Fallout-themed Sweet Crush clone, whose advertisements – that includes a profoundly phoned-in efficiency from Anthony Hopkins – turned inescapable for a six month interval. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 63 adopted on from Fallout 11, with gamers looking out London’s ashes for the bunker the place Statham had been contained, earlier than pleading him for assist in opposition to a nebulous menace. By some means, it felt uneasily as if extra than simply the sport’s ending was at stake #AllTheFallouts
In a chilling PR stunt, Fallout 64 contained the precise launch codes to the US nuclear arsenal, ostensibly behind an uncrackable cipher. Gamers cracked it in 2 hours, however fortunately, because it was a Bethesda launch, the function was bugged & armageddon was averted #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 65 was a uncommon treasure. Styled ‘Fallout: Skegness’, it was a harrowing commentary on the English household vacation, the place you needed to endure being trapped in a caravan for 200 years, repeating the identical pointless arguments as nuclear winter raged outdoors. #AllTheFallouts
After an exhausting board assembly, the perfect anybody might provide you with as a theme for Fallout 66 was “two thirds of the satan”, and in order that was that: the sport was a half-hearted wrestle in opposition to an incarnation of devil that disappeared from the hips down. Garbage. #AllTheFallouts
By the point Fallout 67 rolled round, the builders have been too desperate to work on Fallout 69 to essentially care about it, in order that they rushed it out in a few weeks. It was one thing a few pig and an deserted paint manufacturing unit, perhaps? No person actually remembers. #AllTheFallouts
Let’s be sincere: who cares about Fallout 68? It might’ve been the head of human artwork, and also you’d nonetheless simply need to learn about Fallout 69. Fortunately it wasn’t: it was a busted mess that bluescreened repeatedly as you battered a scorpion to stick with an outdated rope. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 69 was exquisitely sexual. Too erotic be mentioned, actually; the phrases would sear away your eyes just like the blast-flash of a particularly sexy nuclear explosion. These few who performed earlier than it was banned have been hospitalised with snapped wrists & borked pelvises #AllTheFallouts
In a wasteland shattered anew by the sexual armageddon of Fallout 69, sport 70 within the sequence, “Fallout: the Banquet of Regrets”, put you within the sneakers of a furtive wanderer, scouring the land for no matter riches remained beneath the drifts of used prophylactics. #AllTheFallouts
By the point Fallout 71 rolled round, Bethesda devs have been starting to really feel the pressure of getting launched greater than sixty video games in lower than three years. Exhausted by all of it, they figured no one would thoughts if they simply plopped out a fast atompunk reskin of Tetris. #AllTheFallouts
Ultimately, in Fallout 72, the dogmen made their play. Moments after the sport went on sale, the file MINCE.EXE started propagating itself on customers’ PCs, and panting, shuffling creatures started to appear on darkish streets. All of a sudden, implausibly, the world was at conflict. #AllTheFallouts
Fallout 73 was not a lot a sport as a patch, and never a lot a patch as a weapon: a last-ditch piece of digital sorcery, aimed toward closing a door to a actuality past our personal. Even so, reviewers praised its crisp textures and sensible stock administration system. #AllTheFallouts
Humanity didn’t play Fallout 74; it performed us. Some say the dogmen itself have been its architects; some say it by no means existed in any respect past the minds of survivors. Regardless, it was a better cataclysm than had ever been rendered within the sequence’ early, cheery tales. #AllTheFallouts
Fortunately, the pact brokered in Fallout 63 got here good finally: in “Fallout 75”, as historians now name the final battle of the dogman conflict, Jason Statham himself consumed each server bearing a duplicate of any sport from Fallout 5 onwards, ending the horror finally. #AllTheFallouts
With the world saved finally, and Statham buried in a hero’s mausoleum, Bethesda’s board sat again & took a deep, collective breath of reduction. “Proper then lads,” stated Todd Howard, rubbing his palms with glee, “who desires to make an underwhelming MMO?” #AllTheFallouts

Whether or not you favor the tense and atmospheric unique, the extra bombastic Useless House 2, or the expansive Useless House three, all can be found on Xbox One through Backwards Compatibility and included within the EA Entry vault. – Jeff Rubenstein
Among the many Sleep
Once you’re a toddler, the world feels prefer it’s continually in one among two states: both every thing is superb or every thing is terrifying. In Krillbite Studio’s Among the many Sleep, the main focus is firmly on the latter, presenting a world that’s directly acquainted and hauntingly nightmarish. Accompanied solely by a stuffed bear named Teddy (which emits mild into the murky setting if you hug it), you play a toddler that’s navigating his home in quest of his mom. Issues aren’t at all times as they appear although, with every setting feeling increasingly more indifferent from actuality. Ultimately, Among the many Sleep is much less a horror recreation and extra a rumination on the challenges of life, however that doesn’t make it any much less scary. – Will Tuttle
The Evil Inside 2 (Xbox One X Enhanced)
Issues are going actually badly for Sebastian Castellanos, and never simply because his dad and mom named him after a designer champagne label. In The Evil Inside 2, he willingly re-enters STEM, a digital world that’s identical to “The Matrix,” besides it’s a simulation derived from “Twin Peaks” and one has to decide on between the blue tablet and a cup of screaming milk. With actuality out for the rely and freaky multi-mouthed monsters all over the place, The Evil Inside 2 is a shocking, atmospheric seesaw with hold-your-breath stealth on one finish and bullet-counting battles on the opposite. How will we not have you ever with atmospheric seesaw??? – LK
Alien: Isolation
Not solely is your complete recreation dripping with authenticity, treating its supply materials with the utmost care because of unimaginable world element and sound design, but it surely additionally continues the legacy of getting a Ripley again on the middle of the Alien mythos. You play as Amanda Ripley, daughter of Ellen, desperately in search of solutions to her mom’s disappearance from the primary “Alien” movie (considerably required viewing). The thriller slowly reveals itself over time on board Sevastopol station, as soon as a extremely populated hub in deep house which has given strategy to lawlessness. Better of all is the title character who exists as an at all times studying, listening boogeyman that’s ready within the shadows so that you can give your self away. This can be a horror gaming expertise you don’t want to overlook. – MN
Oxenfree (Xbox Sport Move)
A bunch of garrulous teenagers sneak out a wooded island after darkish and uncover mysterious phenomena in a cave. What’s the worst that may occur? Properly… Oxenfree’s model of slow-building dread and X-Recordsdata-eque creepiness are the best “scary recreation” for individuals who aren’t into extra hardcore horror. Greatest performed in a single (prolonged) setting, Oxenfree is price a second playthrough (or at the very least a visit to YouTube) to see alternate endings, as issues can finish fairly in another way, for higher and for worse. Bonus: no recreation earlier than (or since) has nailed the movement of pure dialog higher than Oxenfree, all of the extra cause I’m trying ahead to Evening Faculty Studio’s subsequent title, Afterparty. – JR
Resident Evil four
What hasn’t already been stated about this Shinji Mikami basic? Unfaithful issues, in all probability: Like the way it lures you in with a household barbeque, nestled in a humble Spanish villa. There’s an intimate meet-and-greet with everybody on the native church. The townsfolk don’t even like chainsaws and their pitchforks are purely meant for stabbing … wily produce! You catch a whopper of a fish, dispense some headache reduction and assist a person good his intense Wolverine cosplay. There aren’t any decapitations in any respect and each time somebody screams in regards to the “Los Plagas,” they’re making a spirited suggestion about that new dental clinic. – LK
Friday the 13th: The Sport
Ch-ch-ch-ah-ah-ah, ch-ch-ch-ah-ah-ah. If you happen to acknowledge that music, there’s a great probability you spent a while within the 80s and 90s peeking by way of your fingers as serial killer and hockey masks fanatic Jason Vorhees hunted down nubile camp counselors within the woods round Camp Crystal Lake (and, in a single case, outer house?!?). In 2017, developer IllFonic gave gamers the possibility to step into Jason’s boots, in addition to these of his prey, with the discharge of Friday the 13th: The Sport. This asymmetrical multiplayer title discovered one participant (as Jason) looking down as much as seven others in a gory model of hide-and-seek, with the advisors in a position to work collectively in an effort to beat Jason’s otherworldly looking powers. That includes dozens of memorably over-the-top kill animations by grasp particular results artist Tom Savini, Friday the 13th: The Sport may really be higher than a number of the films (we’re taking a look at you, “Jason Goes to Hell”). – WT
Layers of Concern (Xbox Sport Move)
Because the online game equal of a portrait with eyes that observe you across the room, Layers of Concern has, effectively, precisely that. It makes you witness to the whole meltdown of a superb painter, crushed by a stroke of tragic luck, left unable to discern between occasions on the canvas and people in his head. If you happen to hate doorways disappearing and rooms respiratory and rearranging themselves in upsetting methods, you must play this – and perhaps contemplate shifting out of your clearly haunted home. Plus: As a scary recreation sans fight, Layers of Concern makes for a great palette cleanser. – LK
Left four Useless (Xbox One X Enhanced / Backward Appropriate)
This practically decade-old co-op zombie shooter is all about working together with your crew to beat swarms of the Contaminated – as a result of surviving the zombie apocalypse is not any enjoyable alone. Seize your shotgun and prepare to mow down the subsequent mob of frenzied mutants earlier than it’s too late. Simply you’ll want to be careful for these Boomers and their zombie-luring bile. And even higher, this Halloween you’ll be capable to fend off the hordes with an unprecedented stage of element now that Left four Useless is Xbox One X enhanced. – LE
Soma
It doesn’t take lengthy in your time in Soma so that you can notice that navigating your method by way of an deserted and slowly crumbling underwater analysis station is the least of your considerations. It’s the mysterious and creepy machine inhabitants who stalk you thru the hallways when you search to grasp how you bought right here and what you might be. And why do all of the machines assume they’re individuals? With an exquisite sci-fi bend on the fears of merging humanity with expertise, Soma just isn’t solely one of many creepier video games you possibly can play, but in addition one of many smartest with some nice philosophical factors to ponder with an ending that may go away you speechless. – MN
Condemned: Prison Origins (Backward Appropriate)
There was a time in my life once I trusted mannequins. That each one modified with the 2005 launch of Monolith’s Condemned: Prison Origins for Xbox 360. In a recreation crammed with memorable setpieces, none was extra terrifying than the deserted division retailer crammed with mannequins in varied states of undress (and dismemberment). As you progress by way of the extent, beating the sport’s deranged derelicts in a visceral first-person perspective with no matter melee weapons you could find, you’ll discover rooms filled with deserted mannequins. All’s effectively and good (effectively, pretty much as good as it may be if you’re preventing to remain alive and clear up the thriller of who’s pinning murders on you) till you discover one thing out of the nook of your eye: did that model simply transfer? I actually don’t assume I’ve ever screamed as loud as I did the primary time one lastly lunged at me. – WT
Metro 2033 Redux (Xbox Sport Move)
Not solely an incredible technical achievement on the time of its unique launch, giving players one of the distinctive and atmospheric settings in gaming, Metro 2033 launched us to an epic post-apocalyptic journey that mixes equal components of stealth, survival horror, and first-person shooter fight. Oh, and a solid of darkish characters and a well-paced story that retains you shifting by way of the chilly metro tunnels of Moscow in a bleak, miserable future. The Redux model cleans up the unique launch and enhances the graphics for the present gen, making it the quintessential model to play. – MN

Meet Rosh Mahtani, Founder of the Inclusive Jewellery Brand Alighieri
During London’s Fall 2020 Fashion Week, an intimate group of industry insiders gathered in the beautiful but eerie crypt in St Etheldreda’s church—a medieval building located in the city’s storied jewellery district of Hatton Garden—to toast the newest recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design. Past winners Richard Quinn and Bethany Williams were selected based on the merit of their collections and how their companies have implemented practices that benefit people and the planet. Rosh Mahtani, the founder of Alighieri jewellery and this year’s honouree, beamed within the candlelit quarters as she accepted the award from Princess Anne. The Queen’s daughter is an advocate for U.K. design thanks to her long-time role as a Royal Fellow of the Royal Society.
“I honestly couldn’t believe it, and I really wasn’t expecting it,” says Mahtani about the accolade when FASHION interviewed her in March. “I have such admiration for Richard and Bethany, and I was really honoured to be placed alongside them. After it sunk in, I just felt so happy and proud to shine a light on local manufacturing in Hatton Garden.”
Since founding Alighieri in 2014, Mahtani has sourced her materials ethically and employed London-based craftspeople to create her collections—the pieces of which are named after elements of Dante’s The Divine Comedy. (The brand’s moniker comes from the medieval poet’s surname.) And in keeping with Mahtani’s commitment to nurturing the greater good, a portion of Alighieri’s online sales during the COVID-19 crisis were given to the Trussell Trust, a U.K.-based food bank donation organization, and are currently being donated to Refuge, a U.K.-based organization focused on supporting victims of domestic abuse.
Mahtani has no formal training in jewellery making, but she has been able to conceive pieces that delight, inspire and intrigue those who look upon them. Included in her collections are talismanic amulets and earrings crafted to look like something you’d find among the jagged panorama of Dante’s Inferno. And she’s only at the beginning of her brand’s saga. “There’s so much that I’d like to do; I have so many ideas,” she says. “Ultimately, I want everything I create to be true to our story—to build communities and dialogue through objects.”

What was your earliest defining style moment?
I made a white camisole with spaghetti straps out of scrap material when I was a kid and wore it every day for an entire summer. I think that’s when I knew I loved wearing things my own way.
What’s the one everyday style item you can’t live without?
A black slip-dress. I wear slip-dresses with sneakers all summer and layer them under an oversized cashmere jumper all winter. They’re my go-to.
If you could raid one person’s closet, whose would it be?
Mary-Kate Olsen’s. Her array of oversized and tailored pieces, along with her vintage jewellery, would be the best treasure trove.
What do you think is the most exciting fashion moment happening right now?
I love that fashion is becoming more conscious of humanity in general—trying to find ways to create pieces that last forever, thinking about how and where pieces are made, reinventing things that already exist. Alongside this, I love that the industry feels more open to designers and models from different cultures. This is really exciting to me because we have the power to change so much with our reach.

So much love on this shoot with @lavieislit and @zakarie.ali ♥️ Thinking a lot about finding Love in the Wasteland ♥️ Please keep fighting for @blklivesmatter. I watched “I am not your Negro” yesterday, James Baldwin’s words are at the forefront of my mind: “I imagine one of the reasons people cling to their hate so stubbornly is because they sense, once hate is gone, they will be forced to deal with pain.” #35mm #film #analogue #blacklivesmatter

If money was no object, what item would you want to add to your wardrobe?
I always try to invest in pieces that I can wear again and again. If money was no object, I would love to design and make a capsule of ready-to-wear for my wardrobe: the perfect suit, slip-dress, oversized shirt and jumpers—all created out of sustainable materials and made in the U.K.
What fashion item do you treasure the most?
I have a white suit designed by Louise Trotter at Joseph that was done in collaboration with Colette. It’s limited-edition, and I only wear it on very special occasions.
If you could live in one era because of its fashion, what would it be?
I’d like to be an adult in the ’90s wearing jeans and a white T-shirt, slip-dresses and dungarees. That’s my dream wardrobe.
What’s the best piece of style advice you’ve ever been given?
If it doesn’t make you feel good, don’t wear it.

Fallout 76 patch 11 July 16 released, brings Power Armor improvements, full patch notes revealed
Bethesda has just released a brand new update for Fallout 76. According to the release notes, patch 11 packs a number of Power Armor improvements, Nuclear Winter balance changes, sees the return of the Punch Bowl, and features several changes to help new players ease into the challenges of the Wasteland during the early hours of the game.
Going into more details, Bethesda has reworked the underlying systems behind Power Armor to address a ton of Power Armor related bugs, improve performance, and help the entire system function more smoothly overall.
Furthermore, this patch fixes several locations where enemies could become stuck, adjusts objects in several locations where players could become stuck, fixes an issue that could cause a player to clip through a table in a garage in Sutton and implements an improvement to help reduce cases where creatures could become stuck in a non-responsive state.
It’s also worth noting that update 11 reduces the time it takes to return to the Main Menu after leaving a world, addresses a performance issue relating to Quest items, implements an improvement affecting memory usage and fixes typos across several areas of the game.
As always, this latest patch will be downloaded from the Bethesda launcher the next time you launch it, and you can find its complete changelog below.
Fallout 76 Patch 11 July 16 Release Notes
General
Power Armor Improvements
We’ve reworked the underlying systems behind Power Armor to address a ton of Power Armor related bugs, improve performance, and help the entire system function more smoothly overall. While most of these are “under the hood” improvements, we believe these changes will help you have better experiences, and encounter fewer issues, while wearing your favorite set of Power Armor.
As this brings a significant update to our Power Armor systems, some players may notice the following one-time side effects upon logging in after downloading today’s patch:
Power Armor pieces may have been unequipped from Power Armor Chassis you own and moved from your Stash to your inventory, or vice versa. You will need to re-equip those pieces after logging in.
Some players may receive an extra Power Armor chassis or extra Power Armor pieces in their inventory or Stash that weren’t present prior to Patch 11. These are items that didn’t save correctly when you originally collected them, and the Power Armor improvements mentioned above have restored them.
If you had one or more Power Armor Chassis in your Stash before installing Patch 11, your character may have been moved to a Train Station in the world. This was done to help players who became overencumbered due to Power Armor pieces and chassis moving into their inventory transfer those items back into their Stash without needing to walk home from their current location in the world.

From isolated balcony gardeners and Laubpiepern has become a movement: in the cities of the world is dug in all sorts of impossible and impossible places, planted and harvested. On fallow land, roofs, walls, and green strips, flowers are grown and carrots are pulled out of the ground. With each bed, a piece of nature is brought back into the city.
The gardens are places where healthy food is grown and nature is made tangible again. And they are experimental fields for future topics: how can new prosperity models look like and intercultural encounters are promoted, what do participation and meaningful employment in the post-growth society mean, how can nutrition look in the future? The boom of the gardens in the urban area can no longer be overlooked. The Intercultural Foundation, for example, operates intercultural gardens in which Germans and people from elsewhere sow sowed zucchini and harvest peas. In 2003, there were five projects, and in 2012, more than 100 of them - and the trend is still rising.
From New York to the World: Roots of Urban Gardening
The idea of gardens and agricultural land in cities is not new. The urban citizens of antiquity and the Middle Ages were rather agricultural workers; own gardens around the houses were an integral part of the cityscape. Even small and allotments on the outskirts of the city and in allotment gardens have been around since the 19th century. The urban garden movement, which has been growing steadily since the mid-1990s, seems to have its roots elsewhere: in the New York community gardens of the 1970s. The community gardens were - and are - green oases on inner-city wastelands with flowerbeds and vegetable cultivation for self-sufficiency. New to these gardens was that they combined horticultural, nutritional, economic, social, artistic, and urban design issues and counteracted common (life) models with other practices. The idea quickly spread throughout North America. From these early community gardens have different concepts Non-Commercial Collective Gardening Projects Developed and Raised: Intercultural Gardens, City Farms, Neighborhood Gardens, Children's Farms, School Gardens, Guerrilla Gardening. A wealth of gardening practices and ideas for the future of urban agriculture is also Cuba, for example for the Berlin Prinzessinnengärten. With the Eastern bloc, the economy collapsed in Cuba and forced the country to an ecological change. The state-supported urban agriculture should mitigate the impact of the economic and food crisis. With the simplest methods and a lot of ingenuity, thanks to the "Revolución Verde", more than two-thirds of the fruits and vegetables consumed in Havana grow within the city limits.
What is it all about? The different concepts
The different garden models in Germany, America and other European cities do not focus on an actual subsistence economy, but on the beautification and enrichment of life in the city and the creation of new communities. Above all, it is a young urban avant-garde that reacts with new models to global challenges and urban deficits: food crises and environmental problems, isolation, isolation or lack of freedom. Important are flexibility and improvisation. If you want to find space for flowers and plants in dense city structures, you have to be creative. Some city gardeners, such as the Prinzessinnengärten or Rosa Rose eV They make their garden completely mobile and plant their vegetables in flower tubs, sacks or old bathtubs so they can move at any time. Recycling instead of high-tech, creativity instead of professionalism is the motto. Collaborative learning, the teaching of knowledge and the creation of consciousness are other central aspects of the gardens. In addition to the common field work, many gardens also offer a cultural program and various workshops. Community Gardens or community gardens is actually the generic term for collectively operated gardens that are mostly in the city. The areas of these gardens are mainly used as a group, some of the gardens are open to the public. In community gardens, neighbors, political groups, churches, schools, etc. are active. Intercultural gardens are community gardens where people of different origins grow fruit and vegetables. They provide educational opportunities, promote international exchange, are therapeutic sites and sanctuaries. Especially the foundation Interkultur is active here. Neighborhood gardens are run by a local community and are located in courtyards, in front of or between the houses. City Farms and Children Farms are a mixed form. Here livestock are kept (horses, sheep, goats, chickens, etc.) and mostly a garden operated. Especially children with hands-on activities such as riding, gardening, and classical farm work are addressed. There are many such farms in Berlin: Kinderbauernhöfe in Berlin Guerilla Gardening is the subversive variant of urban greening. As a form of political protest, the guerrilla gardeners are creative and with limited equipment on the way to intervene in the cityscape. These may be vegetables in front of the London House of Parliament, planted tree disks, cannabis plants in Tübingen's flower boxes, or seeds and onions that are stuck in green strips as they pass by. The term goes back to the New York artist and activist group Green Guerillas greenguerillas.org. Tips can be found here: Guerrilla Gardening
Shrinking Cities - Green Growths in No Man's Land
Even though the number of city dwellers worldwide is growing and two-thirds of all people will soon be living in cities, many small and medium-sized cities are shrinking. With the relocation of companies and workshops and the loss of jobs, many people are drawn to the big cities. With them, businesses and businesses move. Many buildings and the land become useless and abandoned. But the resulting open space also holds new opportunities in itself. For example, in Detroit: in the past, it was the factories that gave people hope, today it's the gardens. Where cars were built until the 1990s, carrots are now being pulled out of the ground after the factories have closed down and around one million people have left. At Earthworks Urban Farm, For example, 8,000 square meters of volunteers grow organic fruit and vegetables. As many as 1,234 private and community gardens thrive in Detroit- and more and more are growing. The shrinking city Dessau wants their numbers dwindling the number of inhabitants by urban Grüngürte l keep the land for urban agriculture and community gardens provide. Agricultural land in shrinking cities offers employment and food, where it scarcely exists anymore. Wherever there is room again, new city models can develop in which the boundaries between consumption and production, nature and city become more fluid.
Urban agriculture in the cities of the south
In Germany, they pop up recently everywhere, in Havana, Caracas or Singapore, the urban mini-makers exist for a long time: in the midst of the favelas and slums of the South, fruits, vegetables, and herbs are grown. The gardens are a survival strategy in areas of great poverty, securing food and income for people. Buenos Aires has more than 2,000 community gardens - home and family gardens, neighborhood gardens and unemployment initiatives. Even in townships in South Africa, small agricultural areas are widespread. Many have emerged on their own initiative, others are managed by the state, NGOs or private companies, such as the Itsoseng Women's Project in Orange farm. Welthungerhilfe (DWHH) has been relying on urban fields for several years now. She supports various projects in Cuba, but also in Liberia and North Korea. Urban gardens are not as easy to implement in all cities as they are in Cuba, according to Jürgen Roth from the DWHH. In many countries, the pressure on urban brownfields is much greater because of the free real estate market. But many examples show that self-sufficient poor areas are no longer a utopia. The gardens mitigate the need for money and food, and cultural knowledge can be preserved in them. Social networks are created with and around them, in many places the gardens awaken political and social utopias in often hopeless areas.
The redefinition of the city? On the importance of city gardens
The gardens in the cities are doing good - on many levels. From an ecological point of view, they are used for recycling organic waste, they moisturize the air and catch rainwater that would otherwise flow into the sewers without being used. "Large, coherent, green roofs can even positively influence the city climate and compensate for extreme temperatures," says Wigbert Riehl of the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Kassel. Insects and other city dwellers also have something of the gardens, as the cultivation of local food contributes to the preservation of variety and biodiversity. From a socio-political point of view, especially shared gardens liven up public space and create new places of encounter and exchange. Neighbors get to know each other while digging together, people of different cultures exchange their horticultural knowledge and experiences. In the best case, the communities grow with the flowers and plants, new impulses for cultures of participation are given. City districts are gaining in quality of life through civic engagement by connecting and beautifying their kits. By the way and also purposefully developed practical learning places for children and young people. The use of previously unused areas is also an active engagement and interference in the design of the city. "Sowing, harvesting, cooking, and processing for the winter sensitize not only to nature but also to a reality check of the conditions we live in. The garden places us in a wider context than the consumer society. " (Christa Müller in an interview) Last but not least, urban gardens are also mini-models for the cities of the future, in which food cultivation and city life are increasingly interwoven again. Urban agriculture protects the environment and resources by conserving transport routes for food, and concrete deserts broken up by green areas contribute to improving the quality of life and air. However, for a future of gardens and liveable cities, land for cultivation should not be given away temporarily or fought for, but should become an integral part of sustainable urban development.

Sensor Sweep: David Lindsay, Robots, Hollow City, H. Beam Piper, Jonah Hex
Lit-Crit (Jewish Review of Books): It’s a bit surprising to come across Harold Bloom’s confession that the literary work that has been his greatest obsession is not, say, Hamlet or Henry IV, but a relatively little-known 1920 fantasy novel. After all, Bloom is our most famous bardolater. When I took an undergraduate class with him at Yale, he announced his trembling bafflement before Shakespeare’s greatness in almost every lecture. In the course of his career, Bloom has named a handful of other literary eminences who compel from him a similar obeisance—Emerson, Milton, Blake, Kafka, and Freud are members in this select club—but one does not find David Lindsay on this list.
Writing (McSweeneys): I had a whole gaggle of 100-point bucks in my sights, sleeping peacefully on their feet, like cows. The way they were lined up, I could take down the whole clan in a single shot of gun, clean through their magnificent oversized brains. That’d be enough (deer) meat to last Nora and the baby through the harsh Amarillo winter. I shifted my weight in my hidey spot, snapping a twig and pouring more pepper on the fire by muttering, “God dammit all to hell.”
Gaming (Modiphius): Conan the Brigand is the complete guide to the nomadic brigands of the Hyborian Age, providing the gamemaster and player characters with all the resources to run campaigns that embrace the path of the brigand, or are affected by it. Here within these pages are all the resources needed to bring to life this outlaw world!
New material to expand your Conan campaign, with brigand-themed castes, stories, backgrounds, and equipment, allowing you to create your own unique brigands, nomads, and raiders.
Science Fiction (Brian Niemeier): The Unz Review shows how the Right all too often rushes to enshrine earlier Leftist subversion simply because it precedes current Leftist subversion.
This time, the subject of misguided right wing hagiography is John W. Campbell, Jr.
Alec Nevala-Lee, an Asian-American science fiction writer, has here written something remarkable: an intentionally PC multi-biography that nevertheless manages to be well-informed and informative, well-written and compulsively readable.
Science Fiction (Unz.com): Alec Nevala-Lee, an Asian-American science fiction writer,[2] has here written something remarkable: an intentionally PC multi-biography that nevertheless manages to be well-informed and informative, well-written and compulsively readable. It’s the first substantive biography of John W. Campbell, Jr., the man – or, as we’ll see, some would insist on “the white male” – who basically invented modern science fiction; and that last point means that to do so properly, we have to take into account the three men – yes, again, white males – whose writing careers he promoted in order to do it.
Fiction (DMR Books): The Ivory Trail was Talbot Mundy’s fifth novel and his most widely reviewed book up until that time. It was serialized in Adventure magazine in early 1919 under the title On the Trail of Tipoo Tib and then published in book form by Bobbs-Merrill later that year. It received a largely positive reception but was quite different from his previous books in that it was set entirely in East Africa, amid Mundy’s old hunting grounds.
Tolkien (Pages Unbound): I first picked up Tolkien when I was very young (sometime in elementary school). Some fantasy had come into my hands—some book or another, or perhaps the original Final Fantasy game on the NES. My mom said, “You know, if you like that, there is a book you would like . . .” I’m not even sure if my mom has ever read The Hobbit, which is a testament to its cultural cache. I did not immediately acquiesce. I was a pretentious child—before I became a man and put away childish things like the fear of seeming childish—and I initially rebuffed my mom’s efforts. But a book is a book, and I didn’t have so many laying around in those days, so I didn’t wait long before reading it.
Science Fiction (G. Scott Huggins): Robots. I have never really understood why there is an obsession with stories about robots. As with fae, I understand the attraction of having robots exist in a story. What I don’t really get is stories about robots. Robots as the reason for the story. Yet many, many people love stories about robots. Isaac Asimov, arguably, built his career on an obsession with robots. I can’t think of any other piece of future technology — with the possible exception of spaceships — that has inspired such a wealth of stories about them. Can you imagine a whole subgenre of SF devoted to, say, laser guns?
Fiction (Wasteland and Sky): Super powered cop Adam Song has dedicated his life to the law. In the military and the police force, Adam ruthlessly protects the innocent.
But this time he’s killed the wrong bad guy. Now the local drug lord’s son is dead, and the boss is out for Adam’s blood. Even his secret identity won’t keep him safe. The police department hangs him out to dry, his years of exemplary service forgotten. Adam must take justice into his own hands to keep his family safe.
Fiction (Fiction Fan Blog): When a young lady comes to Sherlock Holmes for advice, what at first seems like an intriguing mystery soon turns into a tale of murderous revenge. Mary Morstan’s father disappeared some years ago, just after he had returned from colonial service. He had been in the Andaman Islands, one of the officers charged with guarding the prisoners held there. A few years after his disappearance, Miss Morstan received a large pearl in the mail, and every year for the six years since then, she has received another.
Gaming (Walker’s Retreat): Following the whinefest by Fake Game Journalists over Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Oliver Campbell of the Metro City Boys put together a supercut of how he prevailed over the game. As the saying goes, “The master failed more times than the amateur ever attempts.” That’s what it takes to beat this game: persistence.
Every game of this sort has similar requirements of persistence to succeed. Oliver here goes over how he did that. Skip to 14:10 for the lesson, taken from Rocky Balboa.
Acting (Chris Lansdown): Thanks to frequent commenter Mary, I recently learned about the existence of William Gillette, the first man to play Sherlock Holmes, mostly on the stage but also in a silent film.
Born in 1853, in Connecticut, William Gillette was a stage director, writer, and actor in America. In 1897, his play, Secret Service, was sufficiently successful in America that his producer took it to England.
Gaming (Rampant Games): I played over 70 hours of No Man’s Sky when it was originally released. Unlike others, I wasn’t disappointed. Yeah, it got repetitive and lonely at times. There was a starkness to it that no amount of lush procedural visuals could overcome. It’s changed a lot since then, graphically, in gameplay, and it has true multiplayer. Sadly, I haven’t had the time to devote to it. Yet.
Fiction (Razored Zen): This is a collection of stories selected by Joe Lansdale, and including in introduction by Lansdale. Before I talk about the individual stories, I’ll give my overall viewpoint. I’d generally say I enjoyed most of the tales but the title is very misleading. A better title might have been, “Tales of a New West,” or something along those lines. Most of these tales are nowhere near traditional westerns. Lansdale is clear in the introduction that that was what he was looking for but the title certainly would have led me to expect a different sort of collection.
Writing (Rawle Nyanzi): Larry Correia, the Mountain Who Writes, is a personal hero of mine. His advice to writers is to be prolific: write lots of stuff, then release that stuff, then write some more, release some more, and so on. I am often in awe of how much he writes and publishes, and I wish that I could reach even one-tenth of his yearly output. To him, “writer’s block” simply isn’t a thing — he presses on, no matter what.
Fiction (Adventures Fantastic): Henry Beam Piper was born on this day, March 23, in 1904. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 1964.
Piper is not well known today, and that’s a shame. In his lifetime, he was best known for two series, The Paratime Police and the Terro-Human Future History, as well as the stand-alone short story “Omnilingual”. His best known novels include the Little Fuzzy subseries of his future series and Space Viking, which was a major influence on Jerry Pournelle.
Fiction (John C. Wright): Abraham Merrit is one of the foundational authors of speculative fiction, and it is a shame that he is not well remembered. I blame a deliberate effort of John W Cambell Jr and his protegees to undermine the fame of pulp authors in order to glolrify the more nuts-and-bolts fiction following the model of Jules Verne or Buck Rogers.
Now, I like Hard SF or Tech SF as much as the next fan of Asimov, Clarke, Heinlein, Niven, Pournelle, Baxter, &c., but I also like the pulps and their freedom from strict genre restraints, and I hate snobbery in all its forms.
There is no wrong way to have fun.
Fiction (Rich Horton): Today would have been H. Beam Piper’s 115th birthday. His first novels were the two serials discussed below, published in books form as Crisis in 2140 and Uller Uprising. (A version of “Uller Uprising” had actually appeared as part of the Twayne Triplet The Petrified Planet a year earlier.) In addition to those novels, I append a short look at perhaps his most famous story, “Omnilingual”.
Comic Books (Broadswords and Blasters): In 1993, editor Karen Berger at DC Comics forged a new imprint that focused on stories geared at a more mature audience and creator owned works as well. The end result was the creation of Vertigo Comics. Such early titles included, naturally enough, a transfer of already established titles such as Shade the Changing Man, The Sandman,[1] Swamp Thing, Hellblazer,[2] Animal Man and Doom Patrol. Soon after, new titles, both ongoing and limited premiered under this imprint including Neil Gaiman’s Death: the High Cost of Living, the Matt Wagner-helmed Sandman: Mystery Theatre and Peter Milligan’s Enigma.
