“morning”
warren rhodes x reader
just a fluffy warren drabble
You typically woke up before Warren, but today he had the fortune of waking up with the sun. As expected, he chose to bother you instead of letting you sleep peacefully.
He rolled onto your side of the bed and slipped an arm around your waist. He brought his other hand up and grazed his fingers gingerly against your bare shoulder before starting to trace light circles.
You stirred in your sleep, the hair falling away from your face and giving him access to your neck. He leaned down to place soft kisses on the exposed skin.
“Warren,” you mumbled, sleep ridden.
“Wake up, pretty girl,” he said softly, kissing your cheek.
“What time is it?” You rubbed the sleep from your eyes and reached over to the nightstand to check your watch. “5 a.m.?”
You turned your head to look up at him with a questioning stare. You placed the watch back on the wood and rolled over to look at him fully.
Your held your head in your hand and propped your elbow up on a pillow. Both of his arms were loosely around your waist as he grinned up at you.
“Is this what you do when you wake up early? Bother me?” you teased.
“I’m just loving you, baby. Is that so wrong?” he said, still sporting that broad smile.
“It is at this hour.” You turned your body to face away from him as you tried to go back to sleep. He only pulled you closer and kissed your neck, shoulder, and face over and over so you couldn’t do that.
“Damn, Warren, let a woman sleep!” You tried to sound serious, but it was hard with your laughs breaking through.
“Not until you kiss me back.” He was now hovering over you, tapping his lips expectantly with one finger.
You rolled your eyes and gave in, grabbing his face and pulling him in close. His lips landed on yours, and his kiss was full of passion. His arms came down around your back as he kissed you slowly.
You were the first to pull away, and his disappointment was visible. “I’m going to sleep now.”
“Even after that?” he protested with a frown.
“I gave you what you wanted! It’s five in the morning, Warren, what would we even do?”
He grinned mischievously, “I have an idea.”
“No, Warren, absolutely not.” You smacked him with a pillow and turned to lay on your side.
He pulled you to him by the waist and rested his head in the crook of your neck. “Fine, we can do what you want, even if it’s less fun,” he said, sounding defeated, but you were content with getting your way.

Señorita
Warren Rojas x Fem!Reader
✧.* requested by anon — Hi, I hope you're still taking requests. I had one for Warren if that's okay. If you don't take requests, don't worry about it. The reader is Karen's friend, she is very insecure and shy, she doesn't have the best relationships with her family, she thinks everything is her fault and stuff like that, you know. She feels worthless. She is introduced to the band and gets close to Warren. When he finally confesses his feelings, she freaks out because she doesn't think she deserves it. All ending in fluff, though, please. I need a happy ending 😂
✧.* summary — Living with anxiety is never easy, and it never has been for as long as you've known yourself. It was difficult to explain and control all the questions that arose and lived in his head when doing anything. And Warren Rojas was the great game changer in helping you understand your value.
✧.* warnings — anxiety symptoms and description
✧.* word count — 2.2k
✧.* 🥁 — warren's masterlist
✧.* mandy's notes — this was so personal to me as a person with anxiety myself, I hope you guys like it as much as I do. And to everyone wondering, yes, I am still taking request. Just having a slow time with writing. Good reading :)
With every step you took through the corridors, breathing became more difficult, you had no idea that Karen's invitation to participate in the launch of the album 'SevenEightNine' would involve all this crowd around you. You even liked the dress you had chosen with the keyboardist earlier at your house, but after analyzing each one there you found yourself miserable.
You tried to focus on your breathing but everything around you seemed to blend together and become just a bunch of noise and mess. You feel someone approaching, but not just any proximity, but something that only someone who knew you would do.
“Hey sweets, you good?” The drummer's voice is what you notice, Warren watches you with clear concern.
All you can do is deny it, with very discreet movements. He takes your hand and brings it to his chest. “Can you feel my breath? How about breathing with me?”
You shake your head, not knowing if you can actually be here. Hating yourself for ruining the whole event and drawing attention to yourself because you don't know how to deal with your feelings alone. He seems to notice your thoughts wandering to unwanted places, gently pulling you through the crowd.
You see him open one of the sound booths, and you barely notice when he sits you down on the cushions, but little by little the sound that used to be so deafening becomes distant and makes you hear Rojas better. He sits next to you, and like most of the band members he knew very well how to help you when these things happened.
“Here..." He says, placing one of your hands on his curls. “I know you love feeling them, do whatever you want."
You let out a laugh, which calms him down when he sees that you are slowly regaining your breath. You stroke his hair, closing your eyes to focus on the texture of it, and finally his breathing returns to normal and is replaced by a great guilt.
“Fuck, I'm ruining your night Warren.” You say, walking away, and you don't notice him getting upset about it.
“What? Of course not!” He tries to calm you down, looking for your hands, but it wasn't believable to you.
“I'm sorry, I'm really sorry." You felt tears coming to the edge of your eyes.
“Oh Hermosa, it's okay.” He caresses your hands, trying his best to dispel your thoughts. “I'm here for you, everything is gonna work out.”
“I'm ruining Karen's night.” Your speech becomes slurred.
“You're not ruining anything, it's okay. I'll go there and explain what happened and I'll come back here to keep you company.” He was looking right into your eyes, and that woke up the butterflies in your stomach.
“You really don't have to.”
“I know, but I want to.” He smiles, getting up. “And besides, you're a better company anyways. Don't move, I'll be right back.” You try to hold back your smile, trying to decipher as much as possible the feelings that were growing and manifesting within you.
…
When you met Karen Sirko it was assumed that boys would come in the package, and despite not knowing how to deal with them at first you decided to try. It wasn't very easy with your anxiety screaming and wandering through every space of thoughts. You couldn't get the thought that they would hate you out of your head, and it was getting stronger when you pressed the doorbell.
You played with the rings in your hand, avoiding looking at the door while you waited, you heard a curious noise that made you startle. After a while the door opens, you are faced with a pair of dark eyes, a loose smile and messy curls. You don't notice the way your eyes widen and the speed you look away, but he does and he frowns, widening his smile.
“May I help you señorita?” Your legs shake with the change of language, and that's when Warren noticed one of his newest talents: noticing every detail of you.
“Uh- yeah, I…” You stop, take a deep breath trying to compose yourself and hope he doesn't think this is because you're attractive to him like most people assume. “I'm looking for Karen?”
“Oh, of course.” The man whose name you still didn't know makes space between him and the door. “She said you were coming. Hey Karen Karen, your friend is here.”
You come across a not so big but cozy living room, the man with curly hair accompanies you and points you to sit on the sofa, you feel embarrassed for being observed ashamed for being there and hoping that Karen would show up soon to get attention to herself.
“My name is Warren, by the way.” You smile small, avoiding looking into his eyes. "Do you want something to drink? We have water, beer… and maybe milk but I'm not sure.”
You laugh, and he thinks it's adorable, and he's happy to have managed to make you relax.
“I think I'd like some water.” You speak, taking advantage of the bittersweet pain of anxiety slowly easing in you to talk better.
“Your wish is an order!” He salutes you and walks to the kitchen.
“Y/N.” You say, making him turn around halfway, with a curious look. “That's my name, Y/N”
“It's great to meet you Y/N”
…
You knew that if Warren Rojas wasn't so nice all the time, so precious, só caring and of course… so fucking hot! You wouldn't be in the situation in the first place, you have been avoiding him since the fateful day on the porch of the house where he had declared himself to you. And even so, it was no use since he had made a point of welcoming you in the midst of any situation.
A few days ago Karen and consequently the others had invited you to a movie night, you already felt more at home with all of them and your anxiety didn't surface as much unless some trigger happened.
You wake up with your head resting on the blonde's shoulder, blinking a few times to get your bearings. You adjust yourself on the upholstery, noticing the rest of the band sleeping in positions that would clearly give you a stiff neck in the morning, gently and trying not to make noise, you get up and pass between the stretched out bodies, laughing when you think that they actually looked like a crime scene.
Sneaking away, you head to the counter to smoke and try to calm down. Normally you woke up "scared" when you were in a place other than your home, your hands were shaking and your heart was racing in your chest, so you already knew that you would need time to get back to sleep. The indecisive down wind, which was cold but not enough to make you look for a coat, hits your skin when you rest your body on the wood in front of you.
You close your eyes and take a deep breath, trying to recover and slowly calm your senses when two faint knocks echo through your ears. You open your eyes, looking back to find Rojas with his eyes clearly indicating that he had recently woken up.
“You good señorita?” He asks, and after making himself noticeable he approaches you slowly.
You nod your head as you yawn, he smiles small and tenderly and you feel your body melt. Recently you felt more than loved around him, he always seemed to be doing everything for your good, to make you feel comfortable everywhere and you never understood why. In fact it was something that haunted you, the feeling that he was going out of his way for someone unnecessary like you.
“Did you lose sleep?" He asks, leaning on the same spot as you while lighting a cigarette.
“Kinda.” You clarify, slowly being flooded with questions in your head. “You don't need to stay, you can go and rest."
“I want to.” That's the simple answer he gives, one that doesn't answer any of the 839 different questions that pop into your head every second.
He notices you are uneasy, and risks thinking that he could have done something bad. You avoid as much as possible looking into the eyes that leave you without ground.
“What happened? Did I do something?" His voice was so calm and sweet that it made you angry. How can he be so kind to someone who never even helped him?
“Why are you doing this?” You ask, and he frowns in question.
“I don't understand what you mean.”
“You're always so kind to me…” You try to explain, but he seems more lost.
“I don't get it, you're mad at me because I'm kind to you?” He scratches his scalp, turning his head to the side.
“I'm mad at you because I don't understand. I don't deserve all this, and you've been amazing from the beginning while I…” You don't finish your sentence, and he comes closer. “I don't know.” You let out with a breath.
“If you knew how incredible you are, you would understand that this is the way you should be treated by everyone." A simple sentence completely deconstructed you, you took a deep breath.
“Not everyone has to deal with my constant anxiety, what you do is…”
“Is caring.” He completes your sentence, holding your hands gently. "I care about you deeply. Because seeing you well makes me feel good, and fuck Y/N! I love seeing you well. If you only knew the impact your smile has on me, oh boy, you'd be speechless.”
“You're confusing me." You're honest, releasing your hands from his.
He gently reaches out with one of his hands to cup your chin, his dark eyes meeting your teary ones. He smiles small, you mimic him without realizing it. Warren caresses your cheek, wiping away a tear you didn't notice falling.
“I'll make it clear for you.” He whispers, and you tremble under his touch. “I love you, and I cannot pretend that I don't care about you at all. Because there's not a single second of my day that I'm not thinking about you.”
Your pupils widen, you feel your legs give out, and he doesn't do anything else. The drummer moves away from you, takes one of your hands and kisses gently.
“That's all I need you to know." He says, walking away. He stops at the broken doorway, making you break the spell of the questions. “You can have my room, I sleep in the living room. Don't worry about waking up time, here you know we sleep until necessary." He laughs, making you let out a weak laugh. "Goodnight señorita”
…
Warren had contacted everyone who might be concerned about your absence from the band party, and then picked up a considerable amount of snacks, sweets, and a soda to share with you. He knocks on the glass a few times, making you notice his presence and run to help him with everything he was carrying, unable to contain your laughter.
“I can't believe you've done that”.You say between laughs, putting what he had picked up on the floor so you could sit there and eat.
“You know what they say, if you can't go to the party, bring it to you” He says, running one of his fingers through his mustache as he settles down next to you.
“They say that?" You inquire as you laugh, he joins you with his unique laugh.
He shrugs, eating one of the snacks. “I think so”
“Thank you Rojas.” You say affectionately, and for the first time he notices. You look him in the eyes. “Thank you for worrying about me. For everything you do, I can't actually thank you enough…”
“You don't have to.” He makes sure you know. "I'm just glad you're okay.”
“Was what you said true?” You speak so quietly that he's surprised he heard you.
“Well señorita, I kinda say a lot of things.” He teases, and you can't help but feel your body light, calm next to him.
“That night.” You make yourself clear, and for the first time in your life you see Warren Rojas nervous.
He takes a deep breath. “Yes, but look, I understand if you don't feel the same and I will understand if you need time…”
You know what? Fuck the questions and uncertainties! You hold his face in both hands, kissing the drummer's lips with all the love for him that was growing in you. He is taken by surprise, but soon wraps his hands around your waist and pulls you close, incredulous and happy, he enjoys every second feeling your closeness and kissing you with love and passion.
“Does that mean?” He asks after the kiss, his pretty eyes filled with hope and love.
“I love you too Rojas.” You kiss him once again, sitting on his lap.
“God I love this, but I better warn you that I can't control myself if you do this.” He whispers in joke, kissing your nose.
“I don't care.”
He chuckles, holding your face with both hands. "I know you're trying to ignore the questions and be brave, which by the way I'm so proud of you, but we can't have sex in the studio. Unfortunately.”
You hide your face in shame in his neck, and you know as long as he's close. Safe you will be.

Everywhere: Warren Rojas x F!Reader
Pairing: Warren Rojas x F! Reader
Warnings: Drugs, Alcohol, and implied sex
Summary: You are being interviewed for the tell all story on Daisy Jones and The Six, but all you can seem to talk about is Warren. This is the events of your story with him and how it all panned out. This is the first part to what I am expecting to make a three part series.
Y/N: Living in Pittsburgh wasn’t at all interesting. I used to go to a catholic school, all girls. It was the worst. Being closed in like that only made me want to do all the things I wasn’t supposed to. My parents practically locked me in my room back then. They would find me somewhere I wasn’t supposed to be and I’d be grounded for months.
Warren: But she never stopped going out. She was everywhere. We’d go for a gig at some random bar in town and there she was in the front row cheering louder than anyone.
Y/N: When I met Warren the Dunne Brothers were barely what they would become. It was more of a hobby, but I liked saying I knew a guy in a band. My parents hated that I hung out with him. Of course they thought we were screwing and that really got under their skin. It wasn’t true… but I never denied it.
Eddie: I didn’t like her very much back then. I mean, for all I knew she was a total tease. I saw the way she acted with Warren, but they would never do anything. After a while you start to wonder what the hell is going on. But I didn’t know her like he did.
Graham: She was sleeping with some guy from the corporate offices downtown. He was married with kids and he was promising some sort of life for the two of them on the side. I remember when she told me that. I just felt so bad. She really believed him and Warren really liked her. It was just a mess.
Y/N: Yeah, I don’t know, he was nice to me. His name isn’t important but yes he was married. I was 17 and he was somewhere in his 30s. It wasn’t right and I knew that then, but I felt validated by him. He was the only adult in my life who treated me like an adult in every way. I do want to be clear though, it was not my job as a teenager to make sure this man stood true to his vows. I didn’t care about any of that. I just wanted to be loved.
Warren: I loved her, even back then. But I knew it didn’t matter. She genuinely thought that’s what she deserved and there was nothing I could do about it. She was just my friend and I decided to wait it out.
Y/N: I always liked Warren. He was following his dreams and I wanted to be just like him. But I didn’t have any dreams back then. I couldn’t see a future for myself that I enjoyed. I was living for everyone else back then and I didn’t see that ever stopping.
Billy: We met Rod and we knew we were going to California, all of us except Chuck. It wasn’t really a question, in my head at least. Warren was a little torn up about leaving her behind, but there was nothing we could do. She wasn’t coming, and honestly I just thought she was trouble all around.
Y/N: He said that? [laughs]. I wasn’t trouble to anyone but myself. Billy always looked at me like he could see right into my soul. When I’d see him around town it was always that same look. He was disgusted, and I wanted to shove it right in his face. Sometimes I’d imagine myself just walking up to him and saying Hey asshole, you know I’m not blind right? How about you mind your own business and I’ll do the same. But I knew better than to say that to him. Everyone in Pittsburgh had Billy Dunne’s dick in their mouth and I, surprisingly, seemed to be the only one who didn’t.
Warren: I wasn’t gonna ask her to come with us. I’d mentioned it in conversation a few times, just telling her that we were thinking about leaving, but she never seemed interested so I never asked.
Y/N: He didn’t have to ask me. Things were going down hill with my… partner at the time. His wife had caught on to his sneaky behavior and I could tell he was trying to figure out a way to leave me without causing a big scene. Between that and my parents getting increasingly less cool, I started to seriously consider my options. Warren told me when they were leaving and I didn’t say anything. I was still thinking it over, wondering if there was a chance with the older guy and hoping that somehow my relationship with my parents would miraculously fix itself in the three days that I had before the van left for California.
Of course none of that happened, and in those three days I realized that it never would.
The van was leaving on a Saturday morning. I had graduated high school by then and there was nothing holding me back in Pittsburgh. I stood up all night that Friday, packing my belongings into a tiny pink suitcase and thinking about whether or not I was making the right choice. By the time my bag was fully packed, the sun had barely started to rise. I sat down on my bed, my room looking nothing like the one I had spent my life in. And as I sat there waiting for the morning to come I realized how far away Pittsburgh felt to me already. There was no good reason for me to stay, but I sat there and fought myself to find one. I closed my eyes tight and searched my mind for a good memory, a good feeling attached to my home. The only thing I could come up with was Warren and his music, the band. And when I opened my eyes again I realized how stupid I would be not to go with them. So I grabbed my bag and ran out of my house.
Warren: I was sitting in the driver’s seat, just about to take off for our roadtrip to California and then I saw her running down the street. She had this big pink suitcase that she was trying so hard to carry. I almost thought she was gonna fall over, I just couldn’t stop laughing. I guess I got out of the car at some point, everyone started yelling at me wondering what I was doing. They hadn’t seen her yet. I remember running up to her and just holding her so tight in my arms. I could hear her laughing in my ear, a genuine cackle that warmed my heart. She held me just as tight, her fingers locked in my hair.
Eddie: We were all wondering what the hold up was. At some point I got out of the van and I just saw Warren hugging her and I knew she was coming with us. Well that and the suitcase. I rolled my eyes and got back in the van to spread the news.
Graham: I was happy she was coming with us. Billy was bringing Camila and I thought having a single girl with us could be cool. But Warren made it clear she was off limits.
Camila: She got in the van all giggly like a school girl. Eddie was sitting in the passenger seat and she just opened up the door and handed him her suitcase. He didn’t move at first but when he looked around and realized nobody else was moving either he grabbed her bag and made his way to the trunk. While he put her bags in the back with everyone else’s she sat down in the passenger seat beside Warren and closed the door. By the time Eddie got back around she was buckled in and carrying a conversation. He didn’t even try to get his seat back, he just came and joined the rest of us.
Y/N: I talked to Warren almost the whole way to California. When he got tired I would move to the back of the van with him while Eddie drove. I sat there hanging on to every word he spoke. He was a lot funnier than I ever realized.
When we got to the house in Laurel Canyon I was shocked at how beautiful it was. A little worn down, sure, but it felt like home with everyone else there. I had my own room, no one else wanted it because they thought it was haunted. It didn't matter very much to me, I was barely in it.
Warren: We started spending a lot of time together. When we’d go out together she would come with us. Most times we’d end up at some jukejoint and I swear she’d queue songs on purpose, somehow always ending up pulling me in for a dance. She would turn her back toward me and wrap her arm around the back of my neck. She’d pull all of her hair over one shoulder and I would just watch as she grinded against me.
Eddie: At this point I was getting pissed. She had been stringing him along since we left Pittsburgh and every night they would go their separate ways. She would go into her room and he would go into his. I started to tell him to just give it a rest. He had never tried anything with her and at this point I figured he had just plain struck out. I told him to accept the fact that they were always just gonna be friends and move on with his life.
Y/N: It wasn’t that I didn’t like Warren, because I did. But I didn’t want to fuck him up. I had a lot of… baggage back then and I couldn’t bring him down with me. He was my best friend and I figured we could get a little close without it meaning anything serious.
Billy: I don’t know why, but when she got in the van that day I didn’t imagine her staying in California with us. I didn’t take her seriously. But when I realized she was planning on living with us I had to have a conversation with her.
Y/N: He told me, “If you’re going to keep stowing away with us you have to start contributing.” I think I laughed when he said that, then I realized he was being serious. I asked him what he expected me to do and he said, “I don’t know, learn how to wait tables I guess.” and then he left.
Eddie: She became a waitress and bought a guitar with her first check. We all laughed about it.
Billy: She thought it was that easy. Just buy a guitar and all of a sudden you’re a rock star. No one said anything about it because it was obviously just to spite me. I told her to get a job and she said fine, I’ll do your job better. I wanted to see her try.
Y/N: I didn’t buy the guitar because of Billy, and I hated that it took him telling me to pull my weight for me to be able to afford one. Like I said before, I didn’t know I wanted to make music when we were in Pittsburgh. I had been in a few musicals and things like that, but I was worried about so much else.
In California I didn’t have to worry. I had the time to think about what would make me happiest in life and I started to write down lyrics here and there. I didn’t have a full song when I bought the guitar but I didn’t want to have to imagine the melody anymore. I would watch Graham and Billy play during rehearsals and try to pick up some chords from there. By the end of the month I could play very simple versions of a few of their songs, and from there I started making my own.
Warren: We would stay up late in her room and I would just watch her strum away, learning faster than I’ve ever seen anyone pick up anything. She wouldn’t play me her songs though. I’d watch her scribble away in her journal and before I could even ask about it, the book would be hidden once more.
Y/N: I never trusted anyone as much as I trusted Warren. We would stay up all hours of the night getting high on whatever we could get our hands on. Most times we would just split a few joints and sit there laughing in each other's arms.
I remember one night we were on mescaline and I was just staring at him. He was so beautiful to me and though it wasn’t the first time I noticed, it was the first time I was able to take it all in. He looked back at me and I swear he was going to cry. I put a cigarette to my mouth and he pulled a lighter out of his pocket.
“I am really happy you came with us.” He whispered to me as he put the flame to the end of my cigarette.
“I don’t know, sometimes I feel like I just made it harder for you guys.” I replied.
“You didn’t, you made it easier, at least for me.” He was being honest.
Warren: Yeah, I remember that night. She was only wearing a bikini even though we hadn’t gone out to the beach that day. She kept saying she was hot, and I mean hey, I wasn’t gonna tell her to put clothes on. She sat there next to me, smoking her cigarette and I just took her in. I couldn’t remember feeling that way about anyone I had ever met before.
At some point she took her cigarette and put it up to my lips. Without thinking I leaned forward and took a drag. My lips touched her fingers and we just sat there for a moment. When I leaned back, her eyes were glued on to me.
“I’m cold now.” She sighed. And then she got up, her long legs untangling effortlessly. She walked the few steps over to me and just sat right on my lap. I was shocked at first, a little confused. But it felt… right. So I put my arm around her and held her there.
Y/N: I don’t know why I insisted on torturing him. I knew how he felt about me. Camila would always be the one to tell me to stop messing with him, and it just made me want to be with him more. I was tired of everybody telling us what we could and couldn’t be. I didn’t think Warren had a problem with it.
When I sat on his lap that night I knew nothing was going to happen, because he respected me. I had never known a man to do that and I liked how it felt not having to worry about being used. I sat in his arms for hours, just listening to his heart beating. He put his hand on my thigh at some point and I thought I was in heaven. Well it was probably that and the drugs.
Warren: When she got up I felt like I was incomplete. She had been on top of me for so long, I forgot we were two seperate people. I watched as she stood there, expecting her to leave me alone like she had done so many times before. But to my surprise she didn’t move.
“Do you want to come back to my room?” She asked, and I couldn’t help but feel nervous. I had never slept in her room before, and she had never slept in mine. But I said yes.
Y/N: I grabbed his hand and helped him to his feet. We were both coming down and I knew I had to get to bed before I was fully off the drugs. I held his hand loosely in mine as we walked down the dusty hall’s of our house. When we got to my room he hesitated at the door.
“Is it actually haunted in here?” he questioned.
I scoffed quietly before pulling him further inside.
Warren: I sat down on her bed and turned away while she put on a night gown that barely covered anything. I wanted to ask her what we were doing but the words wouldn’t come out of my mouth.
She lingered onto the queen sized mattress, the length of her just barely reaching the edge. I layed next to her and just let her watch me.
And then she said it. “Can you sleep in here tonight?”
I turned toward her, I didn’t know if she was joking or not. But when I saw her eyes, sincere and full of sleep, I knew she was asking because she needed me to say yes. She needed someone to hold just for the night. So I nodded and we got under the covers. I still had my jeans on but I didn’t care.
Y/N: I slept very well next to him that night. And when I woke up late that afternoon he was still holding me. When I started to move I realized he must’ve been awake before me. I can’t imagine for how long.
I turned to face him completely and we both just smiled. I asked him how he slept and he made a joke about my bed being way more comfortable than his. I laughed and grabbed the top of his arm. I made my way down to his hand and held it for a second.
“Thank you, Warren.” I told him.
He said. “Don’t mention it,” and got out of my bed.
Warren: I didn’t know what happened. I couldn’t tell if it was the drugs or if she was just messing with me. I was happy it happened and that I could be there for her, but I thought it better I leave.
Y/N: I didn’t mention it after that and neither did he, but it was clear that everyone else in the house knew we had slept in the same bed. Like always they were making it into some big deal and I was so tired of them all forcing us into a box.
That afternoon Graham convinced Billy to call Karen on a pay-phone at lunch. We all huddled around the phone and listened as he blubbered to the British woman. Eventually, Billy took the phone and convinced her to join the band.
When she showed up the next day to move into the house we realized she had no place to sleep. Eddie suggested that I move into Warren’s room and I laughed but nobody else did.
“Why would I move into Warren’s room?” I shouted.
“Well, you guys had sex so I just assumed…” Eddie started. I walked right up to him and shoved him as hard as I could. I could feel my face heating up.
“Do you guys all think we had sex?” I yelled. No one said anything.
I wasn’t planning on saying anything, but what Eddie said got me so mad I couldn’t stop. “Warren and I are friends,” I said. “And we can do whatever we want without all of you questioning us all the time. We didn’t fuck but if we did it would be none of your fucking business.”
Warren: She stomped away and slammed her bedroom door behind her. They all looked at me and I just smiled and shrugged. She was a complicated person but I understood why she was upset.
Eddie: She didn’t have to push me. Maybe I shouldn’t have said what I said but I thought it was true. [laughs] I guess that doesn’t make it any better.
Karen: While she was in the room they all began to try and deal with the situation. I remember laughing to myself about the mess of it all. I mean, she was acting like a child.
Billy: Just as we were starting to figure out how to rearrange everyone she came out of her room with that pink suitcase and looked right past all of us to Warren. He smiled and quickly made his way over to her. Eddie scoffed and we all just kinda looked around, like none of us had actually expected her to do it.
I think that’s when I realized how completely wrong I was about her. I had been imagining her as the same naive kid in Pittsburgh but it just wasn’t true anymore.
Warren: We went to my room and she threw her suitcase on the bed. I watched as she opened it and started angrily going through drawers to see where her things would fit.
“I can’t believe Eddie would say that,” she started grunting.
I felt bad, I didn’t want her to think that’s what I told him. But when I opened my mouth to tell her she just said, “I know.”
Y/N: That night was different. Warren only had one bed in his room and it was smaller than mine. We both barely fit because of how far apart we insisted on being.
And then I had a thought. Why was I ignoring his feelings? There was no real reason we couldn’t be together and I was the one making it harder than it had to be. My heart started to beat so fast, I thought he could hear it.
I turned toward him and he was already facing me. his dimples were showing even with his small little smirk. I didn’t say a word, just leaned right in and pressed my lips against his.
Warren: I wasn’t expecting her to kiss me, but when she did I melted. I don’t know, I think there’s something really special about waiting for someone, watching them grow and knowing they’ll be ready for you someday. Of course I didn’t know it was gonna be that day, but who really knows with her?
Y/N: I got on top of him and started kissing every inch of skin that I could find. I had been holding myself back from him for so long, I just needed to feel him.
Warren: She was loud that night. I remember thinking there was no way we were going to be able to live it down. It wasn’t late enough for anyone else to be asleep, and if it was we would’ve woken them up.
Graham: The next morning she came out of that room… lighter. We were all snickering about what we had heard and she just sat with all of us and watched for a minute.
And then she said, “Now we’re fucking, so I hope you’re all happy.”
We all laughed, even Eddie.

Rojas | Warren Rojas x Reader
A/N: This is TV storyline, not book storyline.
Warnings: Mentions of drugs and alcohol
Eddie: As much as we'd all like to think that Warren was this laid-back, freespirit, there's a part of him that had been broken and taped back together so many times that he never really showed anybody. He just hid it with drugs.
Graham: It really hurt him when Y/N stayed back.
Warren: God, I haven't heard that name in years. Y/N? Y/N L/N? 28 Birchwood avenue, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania? Yeah, I remember her.
Graham: He was infatuated with her.
Eddie: He meant everything to her.
Warren: She meant a lot to me. I mean, of course she did, I almost married her.
Camila: Warren made me stand in the bushes by his house with a camcorder in my hand so I could get the proposal on tape. It turned out good, except for the part when he forgot I was there and started making out with her.
Warren: I picked out a ring and everything. The band didn't know this, but I worked odd jobs on the side. One week I was cleaning someone's gutters and the next I was mowing a lawn, another I was dog sitting. It took me months to save up for a decent ring.
Y/N L/N: Of course I remember Warren. He was the first man I ever loved. I still love him.
Warren: She came to every gig we ever played. Every single one. That is, until we left for LA. I asked her to come with me, but she was still in school.
Graham: We were so proud of her for getting into college. We still are, honestly. Look, I'm happy that I pursued music. Nothing will ever change that. But there's something about going to college that just... I don't know, it sounds right.
Warren: She said she'd meet up with me after she graduated. That was another three years away. But I was willing to wait, and so was she. I promised to call every day and visit when I could.
Y/N: Warren knew how to say all of the right things. And it's not like he was lying, he believed what he was saying. He just didn't always follow through, even if he intended to.
Warren: I called her at the same time every day. Four o'clock. Before we had a gig and after she had school.
Y/N: Everything was fine at first. Then he started going a day or two without calling. That was okay, I knew he was busy. But those days turned into four, then six, then a week. The longest it went was two, three weeks without a single call.
Eddie: I answered the phone one time. She called at the same time every day, so I knew who it was. Warren was on his ass, high and drunk. He couldn't make it to the phone.
Y/N: I asked Eddie to tell Warren to call me when he got the chance. That I needed to talk to him.
Warren: I did call the next day, with a bad hangover. I had a lot of explaining to do.
Y/N: I was not happy when I found out how he had been spending his time.
Warren: She wasn't happy when she found out I was getting high and drinking myself to sleep every night.
Y/N: Drugs, alcohol, you name it, he probably did it or tried it. He knew better than to get into another woman's pants. I would've come up there myself.
Warren: Never cheated though. Point for Warren, I never stooped that low.
Y/N: I told him to get his shit together. Just because two people are apart doesn't mean they can make reckless decisions.
Warren: I thought she hated me. I felt like shit. She was the love of my life.
Y/N: I told him that if he didn't watch it, he'd lose himself, the band, and me.
Warren: I cut back on everything after that. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed weed. I just did it in moderation. Same with the beer.
Y/N: I was proud of him.
Warren: I finally got to see her again when we started going on tour.
Y/N: He got to see me and a positive pregnancy test.
Warren: Turns out, we weren't as careful as we thought.
Y/N: You would've thought he had won the lottery when I told him.
Warren: Warren Rojas Jr...
Y/N: I chose the name. And it was a girl.
Warren: Emilia Warren Rojas...
Y/N: Emilia Lynn Rojas. Everyone called her Em, except for Graham, Eddie, and Warren. Graham and Eddie called her Emi, and Warren called her Warren. My dumbass of a fiance.
Warren: We went everywhere together. The store, backstage, front row of concerts, up the stairs to Y/N's house. She was my little best friend.
Y/N: It was love at first sight. But by the time I moved to LA, the band had split up.
Warren: I missed the music, but I spent my time on boats. It's where I was happy. With my wife and my daughter.
Y/N: We did get married, eventually. I just kept my last name for business reasons, and for privacy. But I guess that's all out the window now. Marry a hall of Fame inductee and your privacy is a window. You have none.
Warren: Warren Jr loved being the center of attention.
Y/N: Em was her father's daughter, she still is. Took up the drums. Back in the day, it wasn't common to see a woman on the drums. They usually stuck to vocals or the keyboard, sometimes the guitar. But not our Em.
Warren: Our son was born a few years later.
Y/N: I was high on pain killers when Warren named our son Theodore Graham. I had agreed to the names separately, not together. Because I knew what was going to happen.
Warren: My little Teddy Graham. She liked the names, just hated the fact that everyone called him the nickname I picked out. Said it reminded her of the cracker. That was the point, though.
Y/N: "C'mon, hot stuff, I want to honor my friends legacies" my ass. It was for that damn nickname.
Warren: She loves it, she just doesn't admit it.
Y/N: Horrible taste in names, but he's all mine.
Warren: Teddy Graham wound up being just like his mama.
Y/N: He likes to try and make me feel better by saying that Teddy is just like me. But I'm an honest person. Both of them are their father made over. It made vacations fun.
Warren: I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Y/N: He's a good husband, always has been. He's an even better dad.
Theodore "Teddy Graham" Rojas, son of Warren and Y/N Rojas: My parents made me into who I am today. My mom definitely did the disciplining and made sure we stayed in school, while dad was letting us sneak into the kitchen at two in the morning to make cookies.
Y/N: I knew everything they did. Playing guitar at midnight when I was in bed on a school night, baking at two, eating junk while I was away on business trips. I just let it slide. They were kids, they deserved to have fun and let loose. It just blows my mind to think I have one out of the house and another a year away from graduating high school.
Emilia Rojas, daughter of Warren and Y/N Rojas and lead drummer of Shortcircut: I was a daddy's girl growing up, still am. But the older I get, the more I appreciate my mom. I've always loved her, but being in her shoes today, I'm unbelievably grateful for her. We talk almost every day now.
Y/N: I'm proud of Warren and the kids. They pushed the limits. I realize they that were privileged to have a father who was in the industry, but they really did this all on their own. We got them lessons, they put themselves out there. Em is touring right now, and Teddy is at home playing his heart out. I'm telling you, just like their father.
Warren: Em and Teddy both have that fire in them like their mother, something I don't think she realizes. They're a lot more like her than she knows.
Y/N: Oh, to be with a Rojas.
Warren: I'll be kissing the ground she walks on for as long as I live—I'm never letting that one go.

𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐊𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐊𝐄 - ( 𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞 ! )
synopsis -> in which a milkshake in the summer heat helps eddie realize something !
warnings -> reader is in the band, not yet proof read !
“Milkshake?” You smile, walking out of the house and onto the porch, offering one of the cups to Eddie. “Thanks.” He takes it from you, then taking a sip out of the colourful twisty straw. “This is disgusting.” He fake gags. “What?!” You gasp and take a sip of your own drink, the cold mixture of vanilla ice cream and strawberries immediately giving you brain freeze as it glides down your throat. You scrunch your nose before opening your mouth to protest his words, “This tastes good!” You huff, your lips forming into a slight pout, Eddie biting his lip to hold back his laughs. “It’s good, it’s good, I was kidding.” He puts his hands up in defence and you roll your eyes at his joke, playfully hitting his side. “Hey!” He gasps. You let out a faint laugh and sit down next to him on the knitted blanket that’s laid out on the wood floorboards, the paint starting to chip away from them. It’s a sunny and hot day, barely any wind to cool you off. “So, are you nervous about the tour?” Eddie asks. “No, are you?” Your expression falters. Truth is, you’re extremely nervous. After the last tour, you’re worried it could go wrong again, ending up with Billy relapsing. “No.” He replies, pausing for a moment and looking away from you. “Are you sure you’re not nervous?” He encourages you to be honest. “Eddie, I’m-“ Before you can finish your sentence, he looks back at you, giving you that certain look, that look he always does, that makes you crumble into a million pieces. “Yes, okay? I’m scared, is that what you want to hear?” You huff, placing your glass down. “Yeah, it is actually.” He starts, “It’s going to be okay, alright? We’re going to be okay. Billy is going to be okay.” He continues. Eddie looks nervous as well, but you don’t mention it, nodding instead, showing him that you’re partially convinced now. Eddie just has that affect on you, and he doesn’t realize it. Everyone else does. Sometimes, to you, he becomes the only person in the room. You don’t know that he feels the exact same way. Looking at you right now, he desperately wants to tell you how everything’s okay, how he loves you and never wants to let you go. But, he can’t, he can’t get himself to say any of it, he needs you to say it first, to give him a sign. He’s oblivious, as oblivious as you.

SEVENEIGHTNINE (1975-1976)
The recording of their first album tested The Six's strength ― not only as a band, but as friends. And Y/n, who had never really been a part of the band during its songwriting process, was quick to realize that there was friction between the same band members again and again. Most notably, Billy and Eddie.
KAREN: Eddie wanted more freedom with what he was playing, Billy thought that since he was the frontman that his word was law...it's the same old story you've heard before. They were in a constant dick measuring contest and neither one of them wanted to admit defeat.
WARREN: Billy was my friend. Eddie was my friend. But when you put them in a room together and told them to make a song, they were the most annoying motherfuckers you'd ever met.
One day after a particularly harrowing songwriting session, the band found themselves back at the house in Laurel Canyon. The place that was usually filled with talk and music was silent, the telltale sign that they had brought work home with them. but what else were they supposed to do? They worked together, they lived together. The lines between work and home were becoming dangerously thin.
Y/n couldn't stand the silence. At her house, there had always been something going on ― her mom would be talking on the phone, someone would come in injured and she'd fix them up. At the very least, she'd keep the television on so she could get a good nights' sleep. But that night it was dead silent. Sickeningly so.
So Y/n got out of bed and wandered into Eddie's room. She didn't acknowledge his presence as she walked in, stopped in place suddenly, and collapsed onto the ground, staring up at the ceiling.
Eddie watched the whole thing from his bed, his guitar in his hands. He expected that maybe she'd say something, start a conversation and whatnot, but she didn't. She just went on, staring at the ceiling as though she had all the time in the world and a perfect reason to be there on the floor.
So he spoke first. "Hi."
"Why can't you just get over things?"
EDDIE: Out of the blue, no hesitation. "Why can't you just get over things?" I knew what she was talking about. Me and Billy had been at each others' throats for weeks, ever since we started writing the damn album. She wanted to know why I couldn't just pack it all in and take the hits as they came.
"Um―"
"Because here's the thing: you guys both have so much pride. Soooooo much. So much it makes me want to slap you guys across the face and remind you that you're human, not gods. And, look, I get it. He walks all over you sometimes and that's not cool. But sometimes it feels like you're pushing back just to be contrarian. Like you don't really disagree with what he's saying, you just disagree with the fact that he's the one saying it. You get my drift?"
EDDIE: Like I said, she doesn't sugarcoat things. She'll tell you what you are and if you don't like it? Tough.
Eddie paused, leaning back. She was right; he knew that much. And maybe he did argue with things just to argue, but so what? They weren't The Dunne Brothers anymore, they were The Six. Implied equal partnership. And still...
"He's thinks it's his band, Y/n."
"Then talk to him about it."
"I can't."
"Why not?" Y/n sat up, a crease formed between her brows.
He wasn't quite expecting that question. But, after a bit of stumbling, he came to what he thought was a reasonable answer: "Because he doesn't listen."
Y/n just looked at him like that was the dumbest thing he had ever said. "Well then make him listen."
"Yeah, alright. and how the hell am I supposed to do that?"
She didn't answer immediately, thinking. Eddie thought for a moment that he might have won.
EDDIE: There wasn't really a way to win an argument with her. Not really.
After a moment she turned to him. "A war isn't just two guys screaming at each other, Ed. They need soldiers, armies. Let me be your army."
"Why?"
"Because I don't like watching you get pushed around. It's kind of...sad."
"Thanks."
"You asked."
They lapsed into silence again. Y/n laid back down on the floor, staring at the cracks in the ceiling. When she spoke again, it was so quiet, Eddie wasn't sure at first if she was talking to him or to herself. "I just...I'm on your side, okay? So don't make it any harder to be."
EDDIE: I never quite got that, you know? "I'm on your side." I had no idea why she'd be on my side. Billy was the frontman, Billy was the guy you looked up to. And there she was, trying to help me out without me even asking. I guess I thought, am I really that pathetic? [Laughs] I probably don't want to know the answer to that. I don't know why she was on my side, I really don't. But it was good to know. Made me feel like, aside from all the melodrama that came with rock n' roll, I had something to hold on to.
By the time SevenEightNine was done, the CEO of Runner Records, Rich Palentino, was not impressed. In fact, in his opinion, the entire collection of songs they had collectively poured their hearts and souls into, did not have a number one single among it. Teddy Price decided to take things into his own hands, and that's when Daisy Jones got involved.
The plan was to take 'Honeycomb' ― a song Billy had written about the life he had promised Camila ― and add a female vocal onto it, a sort of call and response duet.
Needless to say, Billy was not happy about the arrangement.
GRAHAM: He had just gotten back from rehab and was finally making things right with his wife and his daughter, and they wanted to bring a new chick in to "fix" his song. I can see why he was upset. I just think that he could've handled it better.
EDDIE: He threw a fit. So, naturally, everybody tried to do things to appease him. Graham had the idea that Karen could sing the female part.
KAREN: Like I said, I can back up a chorus, but I can't hold my own.
EDDIE: Y/n was thrown into the mix.
KAREN: Eddie put "Y/n" and "solo" in the same sentence and she looked like she was going to vomit. We moved on.
GRAHAM: Eventually Billy got the gist that Daisy was what we needed. At least, Teddy thought so. And Billy would take Teddy's word over his own any day of the week.
BILLY: I thought, "Fine. If this Daisy girl wants to try it, we'll let her try it."
Daisy was brought into the studio within the next couple of days, marking the first time she ever officially worked with The Six. She was generally well received by all its members (except maybe Billy) and found a fast friend in Y/n.
Firstly, they were the closest in age, and, when you're thrown into a new environment surrounded by strangers, that tends to be what you gravitate towards. That, and Y/n had the special ability of getting the boys to shut up long enough to let her do her thing. That was especially important.
DAISY: The first time I got into that studio to record, the rest of the band crowded at the window, staring at me like I was an elephant in a zoo. It was unsettling. I was probably on the verge of yelling to them to give me some room to breathe when I saw Y/n and Karen dragging them out by their collars, kicking them out of the room until they were the only ones left. That meant a lot.
Despite Billy's every attempt to complain, Honeycomb was released featuring Daisy Jones. Billy was stubbornly pessimistic about the whole thing, of course. And by the time the recording and mixing of 'Honeycomb' was done, it was completely different from the song Billy had first pitched. He felt that his vision had been trod upon in a most disrespectful manner, so much so that, when it was first played, start to finish, for the entire band, the walked out the second the record stopped.
They all watched him go with confusion ― the song was good. It was great, even, but Billy hated it so much that he couldn't even stand to be in the same room as it. And this was before Camila started coming to recording sessions, so no one really wanted to follow him out. Especially not Eddie.
So after the door slammed, they all spent a tense few seconds looking around, sharing confused and annoyed looks over Billy's outburst, and when it became clear that no one was going to do a damn thing about it, Y/n sighed and got up. "Looks like I have to do everything around here, huh?"
She found Billy outside, leaning on the hood of his car, staring at the slowly heating pavement in the California sun. He had his hands crossed over his chest, not unlike a kid who had just gotten his toy taken from him. He didn't look up when Y/n stepped outside, but he spoke the moment she was within earshot: "We're not releasing it."
The reply that came back was a sharp, loud laugh from Y/n. "Fuck you, we're not releasing it. It's a good song. Probably the best one we've ever made."
"You don't get it," Billy shook his head, "that's my song that she's singing. Mine. The one that I wrote about my wife."
"It's not about your wife, Billy," Y/n said. "It's an apology to your wife. You asked us all to make it and we said yes, so don't go acting like you're the goddamn puppet master pulling all the strings. You asked us to make the song, and we said yes. And it's our band. Your song, our band. Sometimes we have to make decisions that don't please your every fucking whim because it's our band and we want to take it as far as we can. And this song, Billy? This is how we do that."
He said nothing, continuing to stare at the ground.
"We're releasing it as soon as we can, and the world is gonna lose its fucking mind. At least you can go home and tell your wife that everyone loves her song."
Billy looked up then, some of his scowl melted away. Y/n grabbed him by the wrist, uncrossing his arms and pulling him back towards the studio. "Now the least you can do is go be civil to your bandmates and to the girl who just made us a number one single."
Eventually she succeeded in dragging him back into the recording booth, to the surprise of everyone already there.
"He threw a fit; I told him to shut up and get over himself. So, when can we release it?" Y/n asked, looking to Teddy.
BILLY: Just like that, she told me to get my act together and got me back in that studio. It was a little harsher than it had to be, but it worked. She had perfected the art of making someone realize how much of an asshole they were being at that point. I think she used it most on me. Occasionally Warren. If it weren't for her, I don't know if I would've gotten back in that studio. Because I don't know if anyone else would've walked out to get me.
Just as Y/n had predicted, 'Honeycomb' quickly sailed to the top of the charts. It generated national attention, with the whole world seeming to suddenly ask the question, Who the hell is The Six?
Daisy Jones had singlehandedly brought them to the top, and it pissed Billy Dunne off to no end.
The rest of the band, however, was enjoying their newfound celebrity. Their album, SevenEightNine, came out soon after, putting them on the road for their first tour ever. Daisy was set to be their opening act ― which, again, did not exactly please Billy. But she was a magnet. Where Daisy went, people seemed to follow.
As the days counted down before they left, they did what they knew best: partying. Y/n, in particular, found herself spending increasingly more and more time with Daisy.
DAISY: Not everyone was on board with me having a hand in the band's success, I knew that. But I had a place at the Marmont that had a pool. And back then, that was all it took to be okay in Y/n's book.
―
[The following is a transcription from an interview with Rolling Stone. On June 2, 1975, Jonah Berg sat down with Y/n L/n to discuss the band's recent success and life on the road.]
JONAH: Where do you think you'd be right now? If you weren't in a band, I mean?
Y/N: [Pauses. Smiles] Somewhere in the ocean.
JONAH: No thoughts as to a career?
Y/N: You didn't ask about a career. You asked what I'd be doing right now. And that's it ― I'd be in the ocean. And I'd be in whatever career got me there.
[This marks the end of the transcript.]
―
WARREN: The girl is a fucking fish.
DAISY: She'd go under for as long as she could, come up for a single breath, and go back under again. Over and over and over. You can't get a single word in that girl's ears when she's in the water.
KAREN: Y/n had a habit of getting...obsessed. With people, with music, whatever it was that caught her interest and held it. And Daisy...[pauses] Daisy did that.
EDDIE: I'm not so sure it was a great thing that Daisy and Y/n became friends when they did.
In Laurel Canyon, Y/n was often the first to come home. In fact, whenever another band member stumbled in, they could most likely count on the fact that if they shouted, "Y/n, I'm home!" they'd hear her yell "Good. Go to sleep!" in response. But that night, it was not the case.
After all the band members had returned for the night, Y/n was still at the Marmont with Daisy. Her hair and clothes were still drying from when she had jumped in the pool an hour previous ― well, she either jumped or she was pushed. She couldn't quite remember now.
Dozens of people had crowded around the pool, drinking and doing whatever drugs came their way. More than once, Daisy and Y/n would stop their stroll to knock back some pills passed their way or do a line off a pool table. Y/n started to wonder what time she had to get home when she noticed Oh, the sun is coming up. Has the sun always been that purple?
"Daisy, what time is it?" she asked, looking to her left. But Daisy had disappeared. There was a splash, and suddenly Daisy was floating in the pool with her nicest Caftan dress billowing around her. She looked like some kind of mystical sea nymph, or so Y/n thought.
"DJ!" Y/n yelled at her, catching her attention. "I need to go home."
Daisy, of course, wouldn't hear of it. Parties didn't end until she thought they were over. "No, no come on! Just stay a little longer!"
"I can't, I...we have rehearsal in the morning."
Daisy sighed, splashing somewhat disappointedly. "Mkay. Fine," she sighed, swimming over to the edge, "can you at least help me out?"
She held a hand out, which Y/n took. Stupid decision, of course. Daisy just pulled her into the pool, causing an eruption of cheers around them.
As she hit the water, Y/n briefly thought that she had some reason to be upset with Daisy, but she couldn't quite remember why. Within a moment, all discomfort had disappeared, completely forgotten, and she was perfectly ready to stay as long as Daisy wanted.
That was, until she came up for air and saw Billy standing there at the edge of the pool.
For a moment, Y/n just stared up at him blankly. Then, she splashed water on him. He looked at her in confusion and she explained, "I had to make sure you were really there and I wasn't just making you up."
"Y/n, it's time to go." he said.
"Oooookay," she said slowly. "I'll get a taxi in a little bit."
"No, this isn't some kind of courtesy call. It's time to go now."
Y/n huffed in response, swimming over to the side. She was too tired (or doped up) to argue. Really, Billy's presence reminded her that she had a house with her own bed. And she realized right then how much she really, really wanted to be in bed.
"Who told you I was here?" she said as she attempted to hoist herself out of the pool.
"Eddie did," Billy replied, helping her out. "Something about you not knocking."
"That son of a bitch," she muttered. "Where is he?"
"Back at the house. Asleep."
"I want Eddie. Get him here."
"You'll see him in the morning."
Y/n, not satisfied with that answer, pushed Billy away, anger curling her hands into fists. "I don't need you to tell me what to do, Billy. I'm a fucking adult. I know when I've reach my limits."
Billy looked at her. Mascara and eyeliner had traced gray lines down her face. Her hair and clothes were soaking wet, clinging to her, dripping onto the pavement. For a second, the hardened look on her face reminded Billy of the day she wandered into their garage and stole the drum sticks straight from Chuck's hands. She didn't look much older now than she did then.
"Just get in the goddamn car."
"No."
"Get in the car."
"No!"
"Y/n, you're bleeding."
She looked down suddenly and noticed a deep cut on her right hand. She frowned at it, but didn't seem that surprised at its existence. "That was there when I got here."
Billy more or less forced her into the passenger seat of the car, where she hung her hand out of the window, letting the blood drip onto the pavement rather than onto the seats.
In the less than ten minute drive home, Y/n talked until she was laughing hysterically at her own jokes, stuck her head out the window and howled at the moon, and finally sat in silence long enough that she started to cry.
Eddie woke up that night to a book hitting him in the face. He jolted awake, looking around wildly. And then, in the dead silence of his room, Y/n's voice came from the doorway. "Snitch."
She shut the door after that, and he heard her stumbling footfalls down the hallway.
And while that should've been the last time Y/n partied with Daisy, it wasn't. She went the next night, and the night after that. The knocks on Eddie's wall became less and less frequent until they stopped all together.
Daisy became her favorite pastime.
"You're in love with Eddie, right?" Daisy asked. They were both lying on the ground outside at the Marmont, letting their heads hang over the pool so that only their hair soaked in the water.
At her question, Y/n shot up, her wet hair drenching her back with cold water instantly. "What?"
"Oh, sorry," Daisy said, still hanging there. "I just thought...you know..."
Y/n did not, in fact, know. She turned to Daisy, a crease formed between her brows. "Why would you think that?"
Daisy sat up then, her impossibly long hair acting like a weight that she had to struggle against to sit up. "You're always lookin' at him when you're rehearsing. At a certain point it was like...I could count on the fact that when I walked into the studio, you'd be right next to him."
As Daisy spoke, Y/n felt herself frowning deeper and deeper. Eddie...Eddie was her best friend. That was for sure. He was the one she went to when she wanted to talk to someone.
Three thoughts emerged as Daisy talked.
One: I am not in love with Eddie Roundtree.
Two: I'm in love with Eddie Roundtee.
Three: It's so obvious it's sad.
Daisy kept talking, oblivious to her sudden revelation. "I get it, you know? If you really like him, you should just go for it. He's a nice guy, and he looks at you as much as you look at him."
Y/n excused herself then, claiming she felt sick. Well, that was mostly true ― she did feel sick. But not the type of sick that drinking generally made her. The kind of sick that came from thinking too hard, too quickly.
But instead of coming back, she left the Marmont, walking home with bare feet. She was still dripping with pool water, freezing her ass off the whole way home, but she was too deep in her own head to really realize it.
She made it back just as the sun was starting to come up, falling asleep on the couch rather than in her room. She slept fitfully, waking up every half hour or so thinking she had said something in her sleep that she couldn't take back.
The next night, she didn't go back to Daisy's. In fact, when Eddie heard Y/n's bedroom door shut before midnight, he frowned, wondering momentarily if she had just imagined it. Then, to test the theory, he knocked. It was the tune to the newest song by the Kinks. He didn't think too long about the song, really, he just wanted a response.
For a moment, none came. He waited patiently, silently, for any response. There was none.
Sighing, he settled back down on his bed, deciding that that was the last time he'd knock. There was no point in knocking to no response.
But a few moments later, the response came ― this time at his bedroom door.
He paused, sitting up, part of him wondering if he'd completely imagined it. Either way, he had to check. He got up, leaving his bass on the bed, heading to the door. He opened it and Y/n stood in the doorway, hair still wet from a shower.
"Hi," she said quietly.
"Hi."
And then, before he had the chance to say anything else, she stood on her toes and kissed him. He was so taken by surprise that he practically froze as he kissed her back, only to be unfrozen by her pushing him further into the room and kicking the door shut behind them.
EDDIE: [Pauses. Takes a deep breath] Oh, wow. Um. Yeah, sure. Yes. I did…I did love Camila. But, everyone loved Camila, you know? Maybe it was…at one point I thought maybe…[pauses] it’s not important. The love I had for Camila…it was painful. It was so much stuff that had nowhere to go, so it just sat. Weighed me down. And Y/n was the first person who, I don’t know, made it lighter.
The next morning when Y/n woke up, she was clearheaded for what felt like the first time in years. The sunlight didn't make her head pound, she didn't feel nauseated, and she didn't have to check herself to see if she'd acquired any news injuries from the night before.
When she rolled over, Eddie was there, still asleep. Her lips parted slightly at the sudden reminder that the previous night hadn't been a dream. And the reminder of Eddie's presence next to her reminded her that there were, in fact, several other people in the house.
She sat up and saw Eddie's shirt at the edge of the bed. She reached for it, leaning over and tapping Eddie on the shoulder. "Hey," she said. He stirred a bit. She held up the shirt. "Can I borrow this?"
"'Course." he responded sleepily. "You leaving?"
"Oh, don't worry. I won't be far. Just down the hall" she said with a smile. He laughed slightly at that, and she gave him a quick kiss on the side of his lips. She tried to get up then, but Eddie caught her wrist, pulling her back down to him. He wrapped an arm around her, pressing his lips to hers. She found herself smiling as he kissed her, a chill running down her spine.
Eventually he let her go and she slipped his shirt over her head. She went for the door, pausing before opening it. "We're going to talk about this later, by the way."
Eddie frowned. "What's there to talk about?"
She paused, thinking. "Maybe talk is the wrong word for it."
She gave him a sly smile, causing him to roll his eyes and bury his head in his pillow. She laughed quietly, opening the door as quietly as she could and shutting it behind her. And as she went to walk into the hallways, she saw Warren standing there, a beer can in one hand.
WARREN: She looked at me with this doe in headlights look, and I just knew she was going to ask, so I told her before she had the chance.
"We have thin walls."
WARREN: Man, the look on her face right then. [Laughs] Priceless. I was so drunk the night before, I didn’t hear shit, but one look at her—the messy hair, the smudged makeup—you just knew. I was happy for ‘em. For once it felt like I wasn’t waiting for the shoe to drop, you know? It just…dropped. I was happy for them.
Y/n said nothing to him, simply turning and walking away, causing Warren to chuckle to himself.
Billy and Camila moved out of the house in Laurel Canyon soon thereafter, wanting to have a home to call their own. That left the more, well, irresponsible band members to themselves.
One day, Warren returned to the house to find Graham, Karen, Eddie, and Y/n on the back porch, slumped in chairs, staring at the air in front of them like they were waiting for something.
"What are you guys on and can I have some?"
WARREN: It was mescaline, because of course it was.
"How long does it take to kick in?" Warren asked.
Karen shrugged. "Depends on the person."
A few seconds later, Warren suddenly stood up, stumbling slightly. "Whoa..."
Y/n giggled, then frowned. She moved her head back and forth, side to side, like she was weighing it. "Guys, my head is getting really heavy. Too heavy. How much should my brain weigh? Can brains gain weight? Do I have an overweight brain and I didn't notice it until now?"
"If you had an overweight brain, you wouldn't have failed math." Warren said. "Now, I-I feel on a molecular level, you know, like me and the canyon, we are..." he trailed off, then clapped, "Ha! No, we're the same, man."
Karen laughed. "Warren and Y/n are feeling it, clearly."
Graham laughed, and then suddenly he went slack, eyes wide. "Oh shit..." he put his hand over his stomach, "I can't feel my heart."
As Karen went to make sure his heart was actually beating (which, of course, it was ― he was just looking in the wrong place for it), Y/n turned her attention to Eddie. He was staring at his hands like it was the first time he was seeing them. She looked at her own, waving them in the air like she was trying not to hurt the air.
Y/n and Eddie had kept their, well, for lack of a better word, tryst, from the rest of the band members. Except, of course, Warren who had found out completely by mistake. As Y/n inspected her hands, she let one fall to the side, landing on Eddie's thigh.
He looked at her, eyebrows raised. She bit her lip to hide a smile.
"No, Graham, it's there."
"Karen, I can't feel my heart. It's gone, man."
Y/n slid her hand further up his thigh, trying her best not to giggle at the way he tried to keep his cool under her touch.
"Can-Can we call a doctor or something?"
"Graham. Move your hand up."
Graham frowned, looking down. Then moved his hands to the correct place and, upon feeling his heart beating steadily underneath his palms, sighed in relief. "Oh. Thanks."
Eddie suddenly stood up, startling all of them. Without a word, he took Y/n by the hand, pulling her back inside. Y/n giggled then, already going to unbutton her shirt.
Karen and Graham watched them go in confusion. "What the hell is up with them?" Graham asked as the door shut behind them.
Warren just raised his half empty beer can in their direction. "L'Chaim," the declared, then drank it all in one sip.
Thanks to Honeycomb, The Six had been put on the map. They were touring for their first album with Daisy Jones as their opening act. It was on that tour that they all got their first taste of real fame of screaming crowds and fanatic fans.
Towards the end of the tour, the decision was made that Daisy would join the band, and they would soon become known as Daisy Jones & The Six. After the tour, they were on their way to creating their first album with Daisy on the team.
EDDIE: Things were perfect. Well, I didn’t think they were perfect at the time. I still wasn’t getting along with Billy, I didn’t feel like I had any creative control, I basically felt like a second-class citizen even though I had been there from the beginning. But I had Y/n, and the band was successful. If I had been able to put down my pride and look at my life from a couple steps back, I probably would have thought, damn…this ain’t bad. I never really guessed how bad things would go downhill after that.

On October 4, 1977, Daisy Jones & The Six performed to a sold out crowd at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois. They were one of the biggest bands in the world at the time, fresh off their award-winning, multi-platinum selling album “Aurora.” It would be their final performance.
In the 20 years since, members of the band and their inner circle have refused to speak on the record about what happened… Until now.
–
THE RISE OF THE SIX (1966-1972)
The Six started out as a blues-rock band called the Dunne Brothers in the mid-sixties out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Billy and Graham Dunne were raised by single mother, Marlene Dunne, after their father, William Dunne Sr., left in 1954.
BILLY DUNNE (lead singer, The Six): I always dreamed of something different than the typical laid out career paths. When Graham first got the idea to start a band, I assumed it was just to win back his girlfriend. He was, what fourteen? The kid thought his life was over. [Laughs] I guess in retrospect, maybe it was a good idea.
WARREN ROJAS (drummer, The Six): He was definitely trying to get his girlfriend back.
GRAHAM DUNNE (lead guitar, The Six): We were solid, fine for a while. When Chuck quit, we were out a bassist, which isn’t really something you can do without in a band. Billy originally wanted Eddie to switch to bass, but he wasn’t too keen on that.
EDDIE ROUNDTREE (rhythmic guitar, The Six): I was so sick of Billy trying to run the band, it wasn’t his band, or at least, it wasn’t supposed to be.
WARREN ROJAS: There was this girl in my math class, her uncle owned a music store downtown, and she used to give lessons to kids on weekends, it was mostly just some scheme by her uncle to get people to buy guitars.
BILLY DUNNE: She was a sophomore, a young sophomore at that, she wasn’t even 16 by the time she joined, I was a year out of high school and the rest of the boys are creeping on 17 and 18, she just didn’t fit. Warren gets all the boys on board before bringing the idea up to me so I look like the asshole if I say no, I wanted to say no too, but she was good and I didn’t have another option.
EDDIE ROUNDTREE: She didn’t even show an interest in being in the band, she wasn’t begging us to give her a chance, we were near-stalking her at the music store, waiting for the perfect opportunity to hear her play and casually bring up that we happened to need a bassist.
JULIET OPAL (bassist/singer, The Six): They weren’t nearly as sly as they thought they were. I originally thought it was some attempt at stealing records or 8-tracks, y’know waiting until I wasn’t looking, but they kept coming back, seemingly just waiting for me to do something, what it was I didn’t know, but something.
EDDIE ROUNDTREE: [Sighs] They decided I would be the one to talk to her.
The shop’s bell rang, signaling the door had been opened, which swung Juliet’s attention away from the magazine she was skimming and up to the front of the store, peering through the aisles to see who entered. A boy, one she recognized from the creeping on her from the previous weeks, made himself visible and she was immediately on high alert. He approached the counter, swallowing nerves as he did, and cleared his throat.
“Hi,” his voice was hoarse, she took the awkward silence as a moment to study him, he wore a striped shirt, loose jeans, and brown shoes, his hair could use a comb through. He extended his hand, “I’m Eddie, I think we go to school together.”
“Juliet,” she met his hand, “is that why you’re here, to tell me that we might go to school together? Or is there an ulterior motive, one that may explain why you and your friends have been spying on me the past week,” any speck of confidence Eddie had going into this was entirely gone.
“I’m in a band with some friends and our bassist bailed on us pretty recently. My friend, Warren, he’s a junior like me, I think he’s in your math class, said he saw you play bass and that you were good. We just wanted to see you play before we formally asked.”
“Formally asked what?” She leaned up from her elbows that she had been propped on.
“Oh, to, uh, like,” he stopped himself, licking his lips and sighing, “would you want to maybe play bass for us?” His eyes instantly went to his shoes and he stuffed his hands inside his pockets.
“Can I have a little more info maybe? It’s not personal, I just don’t know you, like at all and you could be the worst players for all I know.”
EDDIE ROUNDTREE: That one hurt, something about a younger kid who you have a solid five inches on insinuating that she’s better than you are, especially when you’re practically on your knees begging for her to help you out can feel like salt being rubbed into a fresh wound.
JULIET OPAL: What else was I supposed to do? [Laughs] Just blindly follow the older boy who had been spying on me for a week to the alleged garage that he practices in with his alleged band and hope for the best? I paid attention in the stranger-danger assemblies, I knew better.
EDDIE ROUNDTREE: I invited her back to Billy and Graham’s but she said she had to close up for her uncle. Once we were out in L.A. she told me she actually just didn’t wanna leave with me and in hindsight, I can’t say I blame her.
The following morning Juliet and the Dunne Brothers skipped their first period and met in the Dunne’s garage. Juliet studied the wads of scribbled sheet music Billy had handed to her without looking her in the eye and she didn’t miss the way Eddie rolled his eyes at his hostility, and Eddie didn’t miss the way her upper lip curled into a smile as she saw his reaction.
After rifling through the stack of papers, she picked out one at random, and set it down on the table in front of her, leaning over to scan in a few times before pulling the strap of her guitar over her head. She looked over to the group of boys, standing huddled together with Billy noticeably further away and Warren nodded fervently at her with a grin overtaking her face.
After she played through the song, Billy made her play another, and another, and two more after that ‘for safety.’ Once he had run out of excuses for her to keep playing, he asked her to step out of the garage so they could confer with each other. After seven minutes and two overheard “c’mon man”s from Warren, Juliet was invited back into the garage and to serve as a temporary bass for the band, just until Billy could come to his final decision.
JULIET OPAL: He was stubborn even then, I’m honestly surprised he let me in.
BILLY DUNNE: I didn’t want to let her in the band.
EDDIE ROUNDTREE: I wanted her in the band, I made sure Billy knew that.
JULIET OPAL: A week after I joined, we were playing a gig with the Winters.
The group stood backstage, listening to the music that was permeating into every corner of the room. Juliet stood sandwiched between Warren and Camila, listening to the band. They had a keyboardist, she caught Juliet’s eye once they had got backstage, when they finished playing and she got offstage, Juliet made a beeline for her, introducing herself.
“I’m Karen,” she introduced herself, “you play with these guys?”
“Mhm, I’m on bass right now, but in an ideal world I’d steal Eddie over there’s job,” she pointed to him and he smiled back, nodding his head up at her, unknowingly, “I won’t though, kinda like him, at least more than I do Billy,” Karen nodded, opening her mouth to excuse herself from the conversation, “y’know I’ve been saying we need a keyboardist.”
“Have you now?” That piqued her interest she stopped in her tracks and smirked over her shoulder.
“No,” she admitted, “but I’ve been thinking it.” Billy hollered her name, gesturing her over to the group, who were making their way onstage. She pulled a receipt with a phone number scribbled across it in black ink and handed it to Karen, “If you ever get sick of them, give me a call, I’ll put in a good word for you.”
“Do you always carry around drug store receipts with your phone number on them?”
“You never know who you might meet,” she shrugged and started sprinting towards the stage before calling out over her shoulder, “worked out this time. Wish me luck!”
KAREN SIRKO (keyboardist, The Six): She was so.. vivacious, so full of life. She apoke about a million miles a minute, if I wasn’t fully interested in what she was saying, I don’t think I would’ve caught a word of it. You have this young girl talking your ear off, she seems entirely sure of herself, but also still feels a need to prove to you that she deserves to be there.
JULIET OPAL: I liked Karen, how could I not? And based on the way events would play out, clearly I wasn’t the only one.
WARREN ROJAS: It was a great gig, Julie did great, not that we weren’t expecting her to, we were just worried about her, she had never done anything in front of a crowd before, but she did everything that actually counted right.
EDDIE ROUNDTREE: On the drive home she sat next to me and she told me I played well, then she leaned in and kinda whispered and she thanked me. She thanked me for being the one to ask her to join because she would’ve said no to anyone else. [Smiles]

With this you now get the chance to explain your side of the rise and fall , with no ifs ands or buts. Throughout the entire process you hash out some old feelings , retell the story of the bands success and most of all your thoughts.
✦(!!) Authors Note: Hihihi , sooo... NEW HYPERFIXATION!!! The show is so phenomenal along with this wonderful book. All the character have so many delicious layers , how could I not write for this show?? Especially for the central manwhore himself Billy Dunne<3 Also I wanted to try the interview style like in the book!! I hope yall enjoy - I’ll definitely be adding Daisy Jones and the Six to my fandom list haha. Alsoooo - I’ll be doing a tag list for this! Let me know if youd like to be notified for future chapters<3
✦(!!) Content Warnings: Based around the shows story!! , I have read the book but most likely I’ll take some small details from the book which is all. Proofread.. mostly , very reader backstory indulgent!! Brief talks about Billy and Grahams father , talks about an unhealthy home life for reader (neglect and emotional abuse) , miscommunication between reader and Billy. “ ■━■ “ , means flashback or moment from the past. Anything in bold or italicized is the present/interview. Anything else I should add to this , tell me in the comments!! ✦(!!) “I could have been anyone You could have been anyone's dream Why did you have to choose our moment? Why did you have to make me feel that? Why did you make it so unreal? Oh, to be in love And never get out again Oh, to be in love And never get out again Oh, to be in love And never get out again” - Oh to Be in Love , Kate Bush
>>Y/N , in a certain sunny backyard (your backyard)<< ; Fuckin shit.. are we rolling? [You continue to mess with the mic taped onto your shirt in nervousness.] Testinggg Testingggg.. >>Interviewer<< ; [She laughed lightly , gathering her notepad from a side table. She was sitting across from you.] Oh yeah no no we’re definitely rolling , want me to start on with the questions? >>Y/N<< ; Yes of course , fire away! Sorry if I’m a little clumsy with this I’ve never been the best at interviews is all. [You comment as your hand goes for a drink you had placed down earlier right before she got the camera rolling.] >>Interviewer<< ; Trust me you’ll be fine , its a easy process honestly. I’ll start with the first question. . . being one of the lead vocalists of the band must have been something. How did you meet the band? >>Y/N<< ; [You lean back taking a swig of your drink with it] Well in Hazelwood? , nothing could stop you from knowing everyone and their business. Growing up I was neighbors with the Dunne family, we lived right across the street. I was stuck in my bubble a lot as a kid. I only knew about the brothers after my mother forced me over when she and their mom had their regular long lunches. We [my family] especially got involved once their dad popped out of the picture. My mother noticed the hole he left in that family dynamic so she helped out how she could. Be that in money or lending a hand when needed. Which meant I was around MORE often than normal. Especially she stressed to try and be a little more friendly with Billy. With our own childhood rivalry , she always repeated about how he was in a tough place and needed a friend. Some time passed and surprisingly we clicked? Somehow , someway we became actual friends. I honestly dont regret getting more closer with him , he may be a douche but he isn’t or wasn’t the most vile guy around. [You commented , shrugging and repositioning yourself.] Graham was pretty easy to get along with a little later on. He was a huge dork but a good guy , along with being a total awkward mess when it came to any girl deciding to barely SPEAK with him. The brothers weren’t half bad to be completely honest. Eddie and Warren? , those guys I met through Graham. Like I said in that town you always knew who everyone was and what they were up to. I had met Warren when Graham had invited him over to his place. I popped in just for fun and then met the goof. To this day one of my favorite people on this plane of existence. Eddie.. [you snapped your fingers] oh! My mother would volunteer at the local old folks home , she always had that saint behavior. Eddie was visiting his grandma and I was stuck in his grandmas room waiting for my mom to get back so we could leave. Me and him struck up some conversation , found out we knew the same people and had some similar interests. Big fucking doof but again , a likeable dork. Then... boom! - just like that he was stuck with me. At that point they all were. [You chuckled happily as you finish explaining.] >>Interviewer<< ; *She nodded while scribbling down something on her notepad.* Wonderful , on with my next question - how was your start with the band? You know joining it and all. >>Y/N<< ; [You nodded- swishing around your glass.] At first when the band was starting off I didnt really have my mind set on joining you know? We were all just dumb kids , I was more of a person dedicated to a steady sort of “project” if you could call it that. But then... I heard them from chucks garage. I wasn’t some musical genius, but I had some useful judgments. I remember popping my head in, giving some light-hearted jabs at them. Then out of the blue Eddie starts talking his ass off all embarrassed, if I’m so good I should join! I can just remember staring daggers into the bozo's eye sockets. Little did they know I actually had some skills to back me up; my “audition” they all looked so incredibly hilarious. Just like that I was in , they even let me take up vocals with Eddie. All the time I could remember Graham going on constantly about how THE Billy Dunne would be playing with us. School or where ever , he was always on his bullshit. At that point Billy was basically a legend around people our age. Everyone would figuratively and literally fall to their knees for the hunk with his guitar. While I was the swamp goblin that caught a ride on that popularity. [You chuckled half heartedly , taking another swig from your cup.] Of course, we weren’t the best, this wasn't anything extraordinary. Nevertheless, at least we were something. It didn't take much convincing from Graham to have him hear them play, but hey- I helped with that extra push. Just a few sessions later the band was basically his, although I still was able to keep my placement in the band. Even with how stubborn he was or could be, it was enjoyable having our ideas bounce off one another. Besides whatever he says , I didnt threaten to cut his dick off. It was a spur of the moment thing you know! But it really only lifted up our talent more , him joining and becoming our basic front man. We actually became... easier to stomach. [You shudder , sheepishly replying with a grin.] As we got into more of the rhythm of actually BEING a band , nothing was set and stone. It was basically just an escape; a detour if you will from regular life. I cant even recall off the top of my head all the tons of local parties , graduations , even weddings we played. Honestly was a pretty enjoyable time for the lot of us. I mean getting to hang out with a group friends doing something you were all semi passionate about? Truly a fuckin blast if I do say so myself. Even with the fun , deep down you could embrace with talent we had when playing on the cramped stages we were given. I was a big dreamer and dream big I did. Those early days , our potential was showing itself off more. That “it” factor that wasn’t quite discovered yet was so palpable, so I stayed hopeful. We only really became an actual, legitimate band after a certain gig we had. It was a wedding , my best guess is that one of the newly weds name was Doug? Though that’s besides the point. I mean starting off we didnt play in the best of places. Maybe a couple crappy bars around town here and there or some “okay” parties .. but nothing super superb. Until we got this one , everyone couldn’t have been more over the moon! When we got onstage the crowd couldn’t have loved us more , it was a pretty pleasant time. Until in the middle of our session I spot some old creep. He was dancing.. even if you could call it that. The most tackiest suit with a pretty shitty comb over. Dont forget the girl that was basically our age. Took me a little too long to realize that.. that was Billy and Grahams dad. Before I could do or say anything , Billy looked mortified. His eyes were wide as his jaw was to the floor. He stormed off before even any of us could get a word in. Graham had gotten a little ahead of us while me , Eddie , Warren , and Chuck followed along. As if anyone could look more shattered than he did , I mean just by the look on his face you could tell something was up. He was so quick on his feet , marching back in to confront him. His dad was clearly waisted and had some of that classic slurred drunky speech. Lets just say there was some really good Karma going around. Coming back out into the parking lot , any payment from that whole thing was doomed right after Grahams fist went slamming into his dads face. Everyone stood around aimlessly while just by a glance at Billy.. something was cooking up in his magnificent brain. He had the words to rally hundreds , instead rallying the rest of us. I can remember his words like it was all entirely yesterday. “Your my brothers.. I love you. We work hard and stick together. We’re gonna be the biggest band in the world someday , do you trust me?” [You explained while using your hands in air quotes.] He wasn’t wrong about becoming the biggest fuckin band in the world I’ll let you know. [You joked with a snicker as the interviewer across from you shared the snicker with a faint chuckle.] Right after that gig was when practices started to get more frequent , all crammed inside of Chucks garage. If my vocal cords were frazzled and my hands were sore it was a good day. Not gonna lie that was frequent occurrence. Around that time was also where Billy got more acquainted with Camila. I had knew her from around the neighborhood , we would always run into each other on our shared walks to the middle school we went to. She was like sun when its fiery and burning , bright and always cheery for conversation. For weeks Graham was less of the hopelessly in love one around. Hours upon hours Billy couldn’t stop talking about her. It was nice seeing him so happy , she really brought something out of him. A new sort of groove so to say. [You wink at the camera with a toothy grin.] ■━■ Speaking of Camila , it brought a memory to your mind. ■━■ It was the week before Billy had asked Camila to be his girlfriend. He was rambling about her for days and days on end. Constantly frequenting your house just to only talk about her. It may had been a little ear grating but you were happy for him none the less. Though, your feelings for him never stopped poking at you. You’ve never really felt so bitter when hearing about the new girl he was in a daze over. But now.. something tugged at you. Be it jealousy or contemplation , it was definitely something. You could never really land on an explanation. One of those days he had stopped by your house. Your mom was out with her new conquest on some sort of weekend trip , which left you home alone. It may have been shameful to still live with your parent but it did leave you to roam around freely. With Billy involved , that all led to shenanigans happening. Your mother had this prized piano , one of the things she always cherished even with how old it was. It may have been a gift from your grandparents? You never really wanted to know , never the less cared about it origins. But you always loved playing it. That night you were able to open your moms alcohol stash , and lets just say you and Billy got a little heavy handed with the booze. To the point the both of you felt like teenagers doing the most stupidest shit in existence , even though you guys were only stumbling around. Definitely the kinds of things that would totally have the pair of you in trouble. What was supposed to be a session for brainstorming became your own mini , two person party. As it reached around midnight the two of your were sat at that old piano. It was so eloquent , probably one of the most expensive things in your house. Playfully your hands were smacking at the keys. While Billy's head was rested upon your shoulder , his signature “dumb” smile on his face. Cherishing the alone time , while in your sloppy state your slurred out the words to the song you had been coming up with. Even though your mind was in a bit of a fuzz you still were able to match the keys and the tone. Though you couldn't help the hiccups and little giggles that emerged from you. It was until you realize Billy crane his head up and look at you as you played. His cheeks were more red than a fresh strawberry , eyes oh so glazed over as he only watched you. You realized as well and looked over , the warmness in your cheeks heightening. Not stopping yourself , you took that moment in silence to admire him. Be it his immersive eyes or his intoxicating smile , there was always something about him. Something that always dragged you along for the ride. Something that always led you to stick by his side no matter what. Something about this man. . . made you feel something. These feelings that always made you loose a little air and made your chest puff out in that same old flustered feeling. That same stupid grin came back as he couldn’t stop laughing. It was bashful and exuberant , while being calm and grounding in the best way possible. You quirked a brow as you couldn’t help but start on this chuckle train. You wiped your eye with a flick of your finger. “Wh-what are you even on right now man~?” You tried to compose yourself as your voice got a little more fluent. He didnt stop grinning like an idiot. “Nothinggg.. you just make things good.” He commented as he crossed his arms in confidence. “I see , so thats what you kept me around this long~..” You cracked as another giggle escaped from you; your eyes still glued to his. He gently socked your forearm as he couldn’t stop himself from giggling. “N-noo! Dont sell yourself THAT short. You make a lot of things good.. you make me feel.. good.” He may had been stumbling over his words but that was one of the most dedicated proclamations. You cracked a blissful smirk as you seemingly leaned a little bit more in. “Well I’m glad to be a booster to your existence.” As soon as you finished talking , he also got a little bit closer. Maybe it was the copious amounts of alcohol the two of you chugged down , or the confusing thoughts sprouting. But almost like the current took you in , your lips met Billy’s. He welcomed in the kiss , moving his hands right away. His hands cupped your cheeks; embracing the warmness of your face. The kiss only deepened and turned into more of a tangled make out. Though he was the first one to pull away , regret filling his face. You were confused about how he was suddenly acting. The man looked the most sober out of the both of you. “I-im sorry I- I cant do this. All of this.. I mean your awesome but..” Even as he was explaining himself his hands still cupped your warm face. Your eyes framed into sad ones as you scooted back; well as much as you could on the pianos bench. He tried to say something , you really wanted him to! Maybe a “just kidding” or.. anything! But alas he was quiet the entire time you two shared a painful stare. He got up from the connected bench and staggered over to your front door. You felt so ashamed in that moment. So small you couldn’t stop beating yourself up about it. But you realized what those feelings you had always pined over were. You, like it or not... were in love with Billy Dunne. You came to that realization as he continued to walk out on you. Be it the next coming week nothing seemed out of the ordinary , he was still friendly with you like always. Though the kiss was never brought back up again. Along with that Camila started to come around more often. Huge recorder in her hand as she watched over your practice sessions. Maybe in the end that was for the best , maybe in the end it was all just too complicated. ■━■ You reeled your mind out of the gutter and back to the present. ■━■ >>Y/N<< ; [You head your head in your hand as you looked back at Jules.] Sorry, got a little zoned out. Did I miss something? >>Interviewer<< ; [She shook her head with a kind look on her face.] No no.. you did though cut off at the part of the whole band realization. >>Y/N<< ; [You readjust in your seat once more.] Right right , at that point in our life it was almost like a huge fork in the road. I mean we were all just adults thrashing our heads around at endless gigs. Most people our age were either off getting fancy dead end jobs or dead in ditches after enlisting. The actual chance of us getting a name for ourselves was.. small in hindsight. Even though the odds were stacked against us a lot of the time , we were able to get an actually good gig. At the time with a band like ours , opening for the winters was almost like a blessing in disguise. It may have been us packed into again , some small bar with annoyingly sweaty onlookers but it was the Winters for christ sake! Somehow some way we got that one scored in the bag , and we went to go tell Chuck about our latest accomplishment. Though guess he was up to his own shit. I was never the biggest fan of him you know? He was okay but he was like... meh when it came to actual conversation. Personally I was never the closest with him. Anyways- we arrive to his house in Warrens new van. It was clunky and smoky but with a little touch ups we made it work. More of a home than a heap of shit. Poor dude had busted all of his savings on it. Whole time I couldn’t stop fidgeting in the back with the idea of us becoming somebodies. I always was a big dreamer and forever will be. It may be frowned down upon to put all your eggs into one basket but we were just some crazy kids looking for something. This was that something! In my mind I knew this gig had to lead to some sort of accomplishment in a way , I just knew it. Even if it all sounded crazy or spur of the moment , the band was like our.. baby in a way? Like our prize possession , and take the gig as some big new award. Long story short , I was filled with so much fear and excitement I was basically like a ticking time bomb. [You dramatically grace a hand to your chest before going on with your explanation.]
>>Y/N<< ; When we arrived, I could already tell something was up. The garage we always played in was closed, which I took as a concerning sign. My anxiety was even more impacted by seeing Chuck's face. Guy looked like he was about to shit himself in fear. He tells us and acts like an asshole about it. A dentistry career? Really? I knew he was shitty from the start. Now with our new gig lined up and no bassist , you’d probably be like well what do we do now. Well Eddie was immediately was talking about us having to “cancel the gig.” Lets just say I stepped around a couple hypothetical landmines when Billy tried to push Eddie to play bass. I stepped in of course and said I’d do it. With how much time I normally spent cooped up in my house during my younger years I was pretty much a master at it. An I mean , you could just feel the bitterness rising once Billy tried to push it on him. Mission saved of course by yours truly. [You stated dramatically - taking a sip from your drink and setting it down.] We do the gig and you know what? , its a hit! The crowd goes wild and we have a fucking awesome time. Entire encore I was just taking in the fact people were listening at all. After we finish, we took a smoke break outside the bar. Casually me , Eddie , and Warren are standing off to the side. Just talking like regular. When all of a sudden I see Billy , starry eyed scurry up to us with Graham behind him. Brining up the idea of “Hey lets road trip to L.A to grow our band!” At first it was sudden , I mean being realistic- we aren’t just gonna fly off the charts when first hitting Los Angeles. But you know what? , Hazelwood was getting cramped. I loved living there and I did for most of my entire life. But this was something new! Just by that performance I immediately said yes to the idea. We promised to always stick together , and I was a person of my word. The whole upbeat mood kind of dropped when Camila came out asking what was up , but I had to deal with packing my things. I basically jumped out of the van door when Warren dropped me off. As soon as I reentered my “home” , everything changed. My mom was still awake and livid. She was clearly not in a lucid headspace seeing the amounts of opened wine. Her displeasure only grew stronger when I told her the news. Snipping at me for leaving my “poor and weak mother to fend for herself.” I stood my ground then and there. I was always thankful that she’d let me stay with her. Most kids would have been kicked out if they were my age and weren’t going to school. But me and my mother struck up a deal with living costs and that was that. All of a sudden though she gets so pissed that I’m leaving. I tell her straight , that I’m an adult and this is something new for me. That it could really mean something for my career. I distinctly remember her scoffing in my face and going - “What career?!” It was really messy , and I was fed up with it. Even when she was screaming at me I packed my bags. All I owned into one big suitcase for the city of angels , woohooo..! I didn’t even let my tears stop me as she started to cut deeper with her insults. Right when I told her there was no way I was backing out , she basically disowned me. Saying that she didn’t want to be associated or RELATED with some washed up crack whore. Genuinely I was so confused , she always supported this dream of mine? Always accepted my hopes and aspirations, she never hesitated to pay for any lessons I wanted or any new hobby I wanted to partake in. Seeing her face for one last time I only saw the bad. Her leaving for days with her new “friends” , her clearly drunk off her gord and slurring nonsense after she decided to hide herself behind the couches for at least a weekend[s]. She was an embarrassment but knew how to clean up an act. That two faced bitch shoved me out of my own house , and told me I was never welcomed inside again. It wasn’t like I wouldn’t call or anything , I've been cleaning up her messes since day one. Always having to deal with my new “dad” candidates whisking around my halls , or having to be the middle man in those arguments. Fuck- they’d even make me deal with their kids! I couldn’t even get in one word before I got the door slammed in my face. I tried calling for her , begging for her to understand. I basically lost a mother in that moment and it wrecked me. All I wanted when I cam home was some support and what I got in return was just bitter insults. I couldn’t really be excited when the home I knew for so long became nothing. I couldn’t sleep outside with the rain incoming. So I went to someone that was actually decent , Ms. Dunne. It had started sprinkling when I made it onto her doorstep. My sobbing blended with the rain but by my guitar case , get-away bag, and watery eyes she knew something happened. She welcomed me in with the biggest hug , telling me everything was gonna be okay. She already knew about the whole move to L.A and gave me some hope. Telling me that she’ll be my personal cheerleader places away. An to not listen to what my mother said , that I had a talent so bright it was like the blinking stars in the night sky. I was a blubbering mess while she started to make me a nice hot cup of tea. I realized something very helpful in that moment. Family isn’t just by blood .. its the people who love you , who accept you even with all your mucky details. That was the Six for me , they were my family. As the warm cup dragged me back down to earth , I became settled in my decision. I slept on the Dunne’s couch that night. It may had been a rainy day but all I saw was my hot , and burning future when I woke and saw that fateful van. We all packed in , everyone feeling mixed emotions. I even got more excited when I saw a eager Cami crawl in as well. I was pretty joyed over the reconciliation between her and Billy , but all I was thinking of was what was to come. Going as far as to imagining what could possibly happen. I was maybe... fifty percent correct in what I had in mind. [You chuckled with a big bright grin at the statement , holding your head in your hands.] The time that passed was awesome in the van. We were all just a group of ambitious people finding something more. When we made it? , god I was overjoyed! It was all just like my dreams , with the big signs in lights and the character filled pedestrians. Nighttime there was nothing compared to night back home. I knew I was gonna like this arrangement right away. ‿‿‿‿ ‿‿‿‿ ‿‿‿‿ ‿‿‿‿ ʙᴏɴᴜꜱ ꜰᴏᴏᴛᴀɢᴇ: >>Interviewer<< ; How would you describe them in three words? >>ʙɪʟʟʏ ᴅᴜɴɴᴇ<< ; Oh god! , theres so many ways to describe them in more than just three words. [He scoffed lightly in flustered-ness , really taking a second to think.] I cant fuck this up i’d tell you that. Lets sayy.. honest , vibrant , and complicated. Though that’s was one of their greatest quirks. >>ᴅᴀɪꜱʏ ᴊᴏɴᴇꜱ<< ; [She chucked at the thought.] Well.. maybe forgiving , genuine , and wonderful! They are so many things but truly never boring. >>ᴡᴀʀʀᴇɴ ʀᴏᴊᴀꜱ<< ; Hmm... so much shit to choose from. I’d have to go with comedic , the best , and just.. god this is hard! Wait was that three- >>ᴋᴀʀᴇɴ ꜱɪʀᴋᴏ<< ; They’ve always been one of my closest friends to this day. Compassionate , creative , and sparky! Just by their presence you could immediately tell you were gonna have a good time. Maybe a mess but hey , aren’t we all? >>ᴇᴅᴅɪᴇ ʀᴏᴜɴᴅᴛʀᴇᴇ<< ; [He tapped at his chin in thought.] Personally? Wait.. just THREE? Holy shit this is gonna be hard. Well.. all I’m gonna say is they were like a ball of chaos in the best ways possible. They could just consume you fully in so much wonder , never a dull moment. [He smiled , assured in his answer.] >>ᴄᴀᴍɪʟᴀ ᴀʟᴠᴀʀᴇᴢ (ᴅᴜɴɴᴇ)<< ; [She smiled thoughtfully at the camera.] There's one great word to describe them entirely. Curiosity , just the embodiment of it entirely.

You Make Loving Fun - Warren Rojas x FReader
Summary: You weren’t really a relationship girl. Sure, you had no problems with some fun and this was the era of free love, but you preferred to keep things as just fun. So, when your friend introduces you to the drummer in her band, why does he make you want to change this rule so badly?
Warnings: implied sex, recreational drug and alcohol use, adult language
“Karen, I swear I cannot get drunk tonight! I have a shoot tomorrow and I cannot be hungover. No drugs either, they make me sloppy in the morning.” You warned, looping an arm through your friend’s.
She tilted back her head in a laugh. “I promise to keep an eye on you, party pooper. You’ve got to have a little fun, though.”
“Of course I will, I just don’t want to mess up this gig. I’ve worked so hard and things are too fucking competitive out here. I will do my best to loosen up a little bit, though.” You gave her a grin that mirrored her own.
Karen was one of the few good friends you had out in LA. You came out here to pursue modeling after you were scouted soon after high school, and you’d spent the past couple years working hard at it. Not to brag, but you were doing alright for yourself. You were grabbing a drink with some coworkers of yours, which you had to admit were a little insufferable and bitchy, when you met Karen.
Now here you were, at a party thrown by Karen’s new band. The Six seemed like cool people, Karen definitely liked them better than her previous bandmates, so that made them okay in your book. She was right though, you did need to relax a little bit. This party might’ve been just what you needed.
“Everyone, this is my good friend, YN. Y/N, that’s Graham, Warren, Eddie, Billy, and Billy’s lovely wife Camila.” Karen announced to the group.
You exchanged pleasantries with everyone before more people started arriving and the group dispersed. It wasn’t long before Karen drifted off to talk to Graham and you decided maybe one drink wouldn’t be the end of the world. Loosen up, you told yourself.
“Hey, Y/N, I’m Warren.”
You jumped a bit as you finished pouring yourself a glass of wine, startled by the immediate presence of a curly-haired man.
“Oh, hi, and I remember.” You chuckled as you turned to face him. He was cute, in a playful way. He seemed genuinely happy, which was something a lot of aspiring musicians these days didn’t exude.
“So, Karen tells us you’re a model, that’s pretty cool.” He gave you a nervous grin.
You nodded. “Indeed I am. It’s not as glamorous as it looks all the time, though.”
He leaned against the table, very obviously trying to be flirty. “Well, I’m sure if it’s you doing it, it looks plenty glamorous.”
That earned a laugh from you. He was funny. And actually quite attractive, you decided. “What else has Karen told you about me?”
He rubbed the back of his neck. “Well, she might have told us that you can be a little stuffy.”
A shocked expression took over your face. “Did she really? Wow. That hurts.”
“I didn’t say I believed her.” Warren shrugged.
“No, she’s kind of right. I’ve been working a lot lately and my agents have me under a pretty strict routine. That’s why I came tonight, to have some fun.” Your lips turned up in a sly smile. A rush of satisfaction flooded through you as Warren’s eyes traveled down to your lips. Two could play at this little flirty game he had started.
Suddenly, Karen showed up with Graham and Eddie in tow. “Hey, we’re going to go smoke out back. Do you two want to join us?”
You considered for a moment. If you stopped drinking now and only stuck to some weed, you’d probably be okay in the morning. “Sure, I’m in.”
“Really?” Karen looked pleasantly surprised.
“Yeah, apparently someone is spreading the rumor that I’m ‘stuffy’ and I can’t have that circulating.” You sent her a playful glare.
“Well, you heard the lady, let’s go.” Warren grinned.
About an hour later, the five of you sat out back in a comfortable haze. Karen and Graham had gotten surprisingly touchy with each other, and Eddie seemed hilariously out of it. You found yourself sneaking numerous glances at Warren. Weed made you a little horny sometimes, which you probably should’ve considered before agreeing to this.
Luckily for you, Warren was also sneaking glances. You could tell the wanting feeling between you two was mutual.
Before long, Karen and Graham slipped away, and Eddie wasn’t long to follow. That left you and Warren alone.
“So,” He sat up beside you in the chair you two shared. “Did you have fun tonight?”
“Yeah, I really did.” You gave him a lazy smile. “How about you?”
“Me too, but I have fun all the time.” Warren chuckled .
An easy smile played on his lips and you found yourself staring. He did radiate this comforting sort of vibe…honestly, he radiated fun. You weren’t sure at what point you started leaning toward him, but he had leaned in too.
Before you knew it, his lips were locked on yours and you had your hands entwined in his mess of dark curls. He gave you a chance to break the kiss, just in case it wasn’t what you wanted, but you didn’t. You only kissed him back hungrier.
Everything about kissing Warren was thrilling. It felt like light speed, but also as though the minutes had dragged into hours. At some point, he’d shifted you into his lap to where you were straddling him and his hands drifted comfortably to your hips.
“We could…take this upstairs to my room. If you want to.” He whispered breathily into your ear.
“Sorry, I only fuck guitarists.” You whispered back with a joking smirk.
“Shit, I guess Graham will have to give me some lessons then.” He let out a raspy chuckle that sent a flutter of warmth through you.
You kissed him again, with the same passion resuming almost immediately. “I suppose I could make an exception this once.”
– – – – – – – – – –
You were still grinning as you tugged your dress back on. Coming to this party had definitely been the right decision.
“You don’t have to leave now, you know,” Warren murmured from the bed.
All giddiness faded from you immediately. You never stayed. Relationships were messy and stressful. Your work was stressful enough for you, so you tended to keep your personal life more casual.
“I should go, I have a shoot pretty early in the morning.” You didn’t look at him as you put your heels back on.
He was silent for a beat. “Well, could I call you sometime?”
The pit in your stomach only deepened. You felt guilty at the tinge of rejection in his voice. There was something else too, though, but you couldn’t quite put a name on this other feeling.
“Warren, listen, I’m not exactly looking for a relationship right now. I’m sorry.” You grimaced, unable to make eye contact. Normally, you didn’t have to do this part because most guys didn’t question things when you left right after.
“Could I call you if we don’t make this a relationship thing?”
You didn’t really do repeats either. That bordered too close to attachments usually, but something in your gut made you nod. Deep down, you kind of wanted to see him again.
“Yeah, I think that would be okay.” You said hesitantly.
After writing down your number, you slipped out the door and went to find the exit. As you sat in the cab on the way home, you realized that the odd feeling you couldn’t name earlier was longing. A part of you had wanted to stay with him. Honestly, you weren’t sure if you trusted that part of you.
– – – – – – – – – –
You and Warren jokingly liked to call each other sex friends. It was a fairly accurate label, to be completely honest. Yeah, the arrangement started off as a sex thing, but you found that you had actually gotten to know him over the past few months and you enjoyed his company.
Karen brought you along to a decent amount of band functions if you were off work, since your schedule was patchy sometimes. You enjoyed the extra time you got to spend with her, but you didn’t hate seeing Warren more too.
You and Karen were lounging on some chairs in the studio one afternoon while you waited for the rest of the band, who were almost all usually always late.
“Why aren’t you with Warren?” Karen asked out of the blue.
“Why aren’t you with Graham?” You returned.
She sighed and stared off at the wall. “You know why. I love my work, and I’ll never be the woman that wants to settle down. I don’t want to give this up, and being with him would require that of me in the end.”
You shrugged. “Same for me. Work comes first.” Karen considered your words for a moment, and you could tell she didn’t quite believe you. “Just say what you’re thinking.”
“I think that for me, my work makes me happy, and this is the life that’ll make me happiest. If that’s true for you, I respect that one hundred percent, but I don’t think your work makes you happy like I’m happy.” You were about to protest, but she stopped you. “No, listen, I’m not saying you need to be with Warren to be happy. That’s not it. I’m just saying that you should really consider if this lifestyle is what you truly want in the long run.”
God, you hated when she was right about things. You couldn’t even challenge her because while it may not have been what you wanted to hear, there was some truth to them. Did you want to spend forever just working and going home to an empty apartment? Hell, it’s not like modeling is a career that lasts forever. Did you really want to pour your whole life into a career that would be done with you before the next decade was up?
“And for the record, I do think you look happy with him. He definitely is happier with you. I’m not trying to tell you what you should or shouldn’t do, I’m just saying that, for the record, that’s what it looks like.” She added and gave you a small smile.
You couldn’t go into the Warren spiral again. Not now. Your mind had been drifting there all too often lately.
“I think I need to go.” You mumbled and grabbed your purse.
Karen stood up with you and put a hand on your arm. “Hey, please don’t. I didn’t want to make you angry, I just thought you needed to hear it. Please stay.”
“I’m not mad, Karen. I’m just frustrated that you’re right, so I think I need to be alone to do some thinking, okay? I’ll call you tonight.” You grabbed her hand and gave it a quick reassuring squeeze before you headed for the parking lot.
The universe, it seemed, had shitty timing. Keys in hand, tears starting down your face, you opened the door and ran straight into Warren himself.
“Hey, Y/N, what’s…wait, what’s wrong? Are you okay?” The smile that formed upon your appearance quickly faltered from his face.
You shook your head, not wanting to deal with any of it right then. “I’m fine, Warren. I’m just going home.”
But he couldn’t just let you leave. No, you had to pick one of the most decent guys in LA to be in a situationship with. He didn’t move from his spot in front of the door. “I don’t think you’re fine, and I would appreciate it if you didn’t try to drive yourself home like this.”
“Dammit, Warren, why do you fucking care!?” The words were harsh and you didn’t really want to say them, but they slipped out anyway.
“Because I care about what happens to you. I just, I don’t know, I just care about you, okay?” He kept his voice calm.
“I didn’t ask that of you.”
“I know, but I can’t help it.”
You let out a shaky laugh. “The funny thing is, I didn’t want to date anybody because I didn’t want the distractions and complications, but here we are. Here I am. I’m a fucking mess. It doesn’t matter that I didn’t want to love you because apparently I don’t get to decide those things myself.”
He looked stunned for a moment. “You love me?”
“Yeah, Warren, I do.”
“Can I tell you that I love you too, or is this a bad time for that?”
That mustered a weak chuckle from you. He always could make you laugh, even from the beginning.
It really hit you then. Loving Warren wasn’t this painful, terrible thing. It was passionate, and warm, and fun, and it felt good. Maybe it wasn’t in your plan to love someone, but you hadn’t met Warren when you decided that for yourself. Love didn’t have to tear you apart, it could be a thing to keep you together.
“No, I want you to tell me. Please.” You sniffled, looking up at him through your teary eyes as a fresh wave of tears were about to ensue. These were the happy kind of emotional tears, though.
“I love you. I’ll love you for as long as you’ll let me.” Warren said softly.
He bent down and kissed you then, and as he did, you got the feeling that you would let him love you for a very long time.

“the sunset strip”
warren rhodes x fem!reader
warren’s band might actually have a shot at fame, but where does that leave you? a high conversation confronts the issue.
word count: 1k
Warren passed the blunt to you. The two of you were laying on the floor of his band, staring up at the beige ceiling.
“We’re going to California, man,” he said casually, laughing with a slight cough.
You turned your head to the side and furrowed your brows. “The fuck are you talking about? I’m not going anywhere.”
He shook his head, his curls shaking with it. “I didn’t mean you. I mean the band.”
“The fuck are you talking about?”
He flicks his sunglasses on top of his head and met your eyes where they were. “You wanna come? We’re gonna be something.”
You laughed. “You’re nothing here, no offense. What are you gonna be in the sunshine state?”
He took the blunt back. “Pretty sure that’s Florida, girl.” He took a long drag from it.
“Is it?”
He shrugged. “I dunno geography. I’m in a band. I don’t need to.” He grinned.
“If you’re touring you do,” you pointed out.
He propped himself up on his elbow. “Billy’s serious about this. We’re going to Cali, and we’re gonna be big. We know this guy.”
A snort escaped your lips, a belly laugh following. “Gimme that shit.” You gestured to the weed, and he handed it to you. You took a drag and sang, “California, California dreaming on such a winter’s day,” dragging out the last word.
“Y/n, listen to me, girl,” Warren pleaded. You gave him a skeptical look. “There’s no winter in California.”
You scoffed. “Oh, sure there is. Way up North it gets cold.”
“We won’t be way up north. We’re gonna be performing on the sunset strip. People from all over are gonna be coming to see us.” He brought his other hand up to play with your sprawled out hair. “You could come with us,” he suggested quietly, looking at the strand of hair he twisted between his fingers.
“I thought you didn’t mean me.”
“I mean us and you. Billy’s girlfriend is coming. You’d like her.” He proposed this looking you straight in the eyes, the hair he held falling back to the carpet.
“But I’m not your girlfriend,” you whispered. Your heartbeat was picking up and you got the feeling this wasn’t a good conversation to have high on marijuana.
He sighed and laid down on his back. “I know.” The silence that followed was excruciating. The blood was rushing to your face, and it felt warm to the touch. You were still staring at him while he looked straight up. You put the blunt out and sat up, feeling a sudden confidence within you.
“Warren, what are you saying?” You crossed your arms, and gave him a firm stare, which was really just a facade.
You’d never seen him look so serious. Hell, you’d never send him so much as act serious in the six years you’d known him. He didn’t face you. “You know what I’m saying,” he mumbled.
“Tell me what you really feel.”
He turned his head and showed you his infectious smile. “I feel like you know what I’m feeling.”
You bit back the smile that he always knew how to bring out of you. “Warren, I’m not kidding.”
“Neither am I.” He sat up, his glasses falling off of his head. He didn’t spare them a glance as he crawled toward you.
You fought hard to keep the smile off your face. “Don’t look at me like that.”
“Like what?” he said innocently, but you knew he knew exactly what you meant. He came closer until he hovered above your legs and his arms boxed you against the wall.
“Warren, be serious.” You were basically laughing at this point, his nose coming to nudge yours.
“I’m serious about you, girl.” The shit had the nerve to grin at you while you gave up all hope of holding a straight face. “Loved you forever, but we got nothing here. Come to the sunset strip with us.”
You couldn’t hold back you laugh. “That’s some poetic shit, man, you should take that up with Billy.”
“Hell, I’ll write a song about you myself.” He leaned in and kissed you then, arms wrapping around your waist as he pulled you up against him. You kissed back feverishly, slinging your arms loosely around his next.
He pulled away and gave you a toothy smile. “So, my girl, what do you say?”
You bit your lip, fighting the smile once again. “I guess I could tag along.”
He said, “That’s what I like to hear,” before leaning back in.

✧.* mandy's notes — Such a joy writing this, thank you so much for the ask. Hope you like it, good reading.
Interviewer: Do you remember when you fell in love with him?
Y/n L/n: *smiles* Actually yeah…
You packed your jacket for the second time before leaving the house, wondering if you had everything in hand to enjoy your New Year's Eve at Camila and Billy's house. A few weeks ago you were all smoking on the porch of the old place where you all lived and had the idea to celebrate Billy's sobriety.
You had been the band's closest friend since they moved into the house next to yours. You were so excited by the idea of having artists like you so close that it didn't take long to be in their presence. When you met you still had no more than a supporting role in some simple jobs out there, so you spent your afternoons memorizing scripts as they rehearsed their songs.
You saved Christmas to spend with your family, but you'd be lying if you didn't say you were thinking about meeting up with your friends throughout the event. You go to knock on the door of Camila's house, strangely nervous, even though you knew that everyone there loved you very much, you still felt afraid that you were being an interruption in the get-together of friends for years. Before you can knock the drummer's voice makes you jump in fright.
“Hey bella, took you long enough.” His voice was in a different tone, you turn to look at him and see him completely dressed in black.
You take a moment to let your heart beats regulate, also taking advantage of the same to observe the man next to you. The drummer's chest was covered by a black transparent mesh shirt, his pants were also black with some metallic stones adorning them. Still on his torso was a leather jacket and his neck contained a necklace with tiny drumsticks, his curls were wet so you deduced that he had just got out of the shower.
“Fuck Rojas! You scared the hell out of me!” You say putting your hands automatically to his chest, he can't help but laugh.
Observing his face now more calmly you see him with a softer expression, almost one that you don't usually see every time you are next to him. He notices you paying more attention to his features.
“What?” He asks, his arms crossed in curiosity.
“You look different, I don't know.” Your smile widens, Rojas' presence always did that to you.
“Oh, it must be because we're all clean tonight. You know, to celebrate Billy’s thing.” He says exactly, really glad that they were doing this for their friend.
Your face drops, “Oh no, Cami didn't tell me anything… I brought, you know, nevermind. I'll just keep them in the car.”
Warren walks with you to your car, and even though you tried to hide his presence it still affected you. A few weeks ago you had spent the entire night with him on the porch of your house, after inviting everyone to dinner there, he had been the only one to stay after one in the morning.
And after this interaction there was a tension that could be palpable between you, but as the drummer was always dancing in jokes and humor in any subject you never thought it was something to discuss again. When you get to your car he rests his hand on the hood, watching your every movement, you feel nervous but he loves watching you closely.
“Just out of curiosity, what did you bring?” He speaks with a smirk, you hit him on the shoulder, rolling your eyes while laughing.
“No no no, let's keep the promise for Billy.” You close the door of your car and when you are about to go towards the door once again he grabs your hand, making you turn around.
“Are you sure? There's still time." He jokes, you grab his hand and pull him towards the door “Alright Alright, you make the calls cariño.”
Interviewer: Wait wait, but what happened the night on your balcony?
Y/n L/n: *blushes* First of all I'd like to make it clear that I was really high…
The sky was getting completely dark when you were smoking your fourth cigarette, your friends had stopped there for dinner and they had said goodbye not long ago. You exhale the smoke forward knowing you were alone, feeling the early morning breeze hit your body like a hug. As you feel the wave hit your brain, your muscles relax, and you let yourself lean on the counter while relaxedly observing the lonely street.
Warren had left with the others, but as he walked to his house he stopped at the door, Karen entered next to Graham but he didn't notice. Eddie notices when Rojas thinks twice about entering, so he watches what the drummer is going to do or what's stopping him.
“You good there?” He asks yawning, the dark surroundings making it easier for his body to seek rest.
Warren could see your body on the balcony of your house, the dim light in your room illuminated you from behind and the view he had of your figure puffing cigarette smoke was majestic. There had been a time when the drummer's dark eyes observed your person with a different affection, where just your presence caused sensations that he enjoyed discovering.
He nods to Eddie's question, turning to him. “Are you guys okay without me?”
“You wanna go back to y/n's?” Eddie asks with a smirk, weariness visible in his eyes.
He opened his mouth to respond, but he only had one answer. He nods, and Eddie does the same with pride, turning to enter the house.
You can see the curly head heading back towards your home, and you just turn your head to the side trying to understand what could have happened. You hear four knocks on the door, a pause for two more knocks and finally a light knock, you smile a little.
“It's open Warren!” You scream so he hears, and soon afterwards you hear his steps up the stairs.
You hear the silence again and turn to find the drummer watching you in the doorway, you see his chest only with the classic vest, this time the one with a donkey on the back. You approach him, resting both hands on his shoulders.
Y/n L/n: Very high…
“You're back.” You smile and he does the same, you admire his face and he feels naked under your gaze.
“You asked me to bella.” He answers, Wrapping you in his arms as he looks deep into your eyes. “Come, let's sit down.”
He takes you to the padded bench that was on your balcony, as soon as you do so, he goes towards your room.
“No Warren, please don't leave.” You complain, as you feel the drugs intensifying.
“Calm down, I'm not going anywhere.” He returns from your room with a blanket that was on your bed, wrapping it around his back and then wrapping it around him. “Estoy aquí niña, now tell me, what you wanted to talk to me about?”
“You keep appearing in my dreams Rojas.” You talk slurred, you hear him giggling and you break away to look at him.
“And what do I do, uh?” He teases you, kissing the top of your head.
“Usually we are like this, which is confusing, you know? ” He listens to you calmly, and you feel that the drugs leave your filter behind. “Because I never know if you're serious when it comes to anything. But we are like this, all my doubts and insecurities are gone and I just feel you protecting me from everything.”
“You really think I'm able to do that?” Warren feels his heart speed up, his arms pulling you closer with urgency.
“Yes, I honestly think so.” You mumble against his chest, snuggling closer. “It's just, ugh…”
“And what's wrong with it, hermosa?”
“That they are just dreams.” You speak in a whisper. Letting yourself finally fall asleep.
Y/n L/n: I mean, later he told me all that happened that night, because I remembered just flashes of it.
Warren Rojas: *smiles shyly*
Eddie Roundtree: Hear me out, everyone and their mothers knew that Warren and Y/n had feelings for each other, since day one they just connected. But on New Year's Eve, it was different.
Karen Sirko: Y/n was radiant, she looked at Warren in a way I've only seen... Nevermind *says shyly*
The rest of the band was in the living room while you and Rojas were cooking, or better, he was watching you cook. He watches you leaning on a counter while smiling at your every move, he loved watching you and you knew that and loved it.
“I know you are watching me Rojas.” You say while mixing the salad.
He comes closer, laying his body close to you. “I wasn’t trying to hide it.” He shrugs, and you roll your eyes playfully.
There was something about Warren's presence that you had never noticed before, he seemed to actually be there, by your side and one hundred percent present. You liked that.
“What was the first song you learned to play on the drums?” You ask without precepts, catching him by surprise with your sudden interest.
“I think it was something like...” He opens the cupboard under the sink, taking out two pans and pots, you immediately let out a laugh. He starts drumming a random beat that sounds more like noise. Looking at you as if he felt complete in your joyful reactions. “Thoughts?”
You burst into laughter, he smiles with his eyes shining. “So many.” You say when you finish laughing, wiping the corners of your eyes that had a little water in them.
“I always played, Mi Abuelo had a drum kit and that's where I started to learn. Ever since I was a kid, I would go there and pretend I knew what I was doing. Until I understood how the basics worked, and from then on, well... It became my fixation, it was all I wanted to do twenty-four hours a day.”
You smile genuinely in awe. “You were definitely born for this. Seriously, you’re the best drummer I’ve ever seen.”
“Oh stop, you don't mean that.” Warren Rojas was shy, you were in shock.
You let go of what you were doing, since you had promised that he would be the one to put everything in a container when ready. Wiping your hands on the nearest towel and turning to him with a serious look.
“I do, you're amazing.” Your gaze penetrating his eyes was the reason his legs were shaking.
“Gracias…” He says scratching the back of his head. "Means a lot.”
You see more than sincerity in his eyes, you see dedication, it was a type of intimacy that he had never had with anyone and that's when you felt that he allowed you to read him. Warren feels his heart beating like an animal desperate to free itself from its cage, he thought it was the absence of drugs in his system but it was actually the release of another hormone, he was falling in love.
He fakes a cough to bring back the air of simplicity, failing in one of his goals. “What about you cariño? Since when did you know what you wanted to do?”
You let out a sigh, raising your hand and calling him closer with your index and upper finger, he approaches you. You take your hands to the collar of his jacket, asking permission to remove it, he just agrees and so you do.
You position yourself behind him, removing your apron to tie it around his waist, Rojas closes his eyes feeling your touch in fear that it would end soon, and opens them when he feels you away.
You look at him once again, with curiosity, deciphering what was hovering between you. “I'm an artistic person, as long as I'm connected to art I feel good. When I turned fifteen I was in a play in my hometown, and found momentary but welcoming homes on each stage where I brought a character to life. That was the moment I knew.”
As you say it, you guide him around the kitchen, indicating what he should do. And during all those seconds, all Warren wanted was to put it all down and memorize your every move.
He focuses on the ingredients for the first time, which makes you surprised, but it was the only way he had the courage to say what he wanted. He feels his heart racing once again, is this what being sober is?
“Eres arte, hermosa.” He whispers, and you frown trying to understand. He tries once more. “You are art, you're just… perfect.”
Your mind and body stops for a moment, you widen your eyes. He takes a few steps back, taking off the apron and putting his jacket back on. You immediately rush over to him, cupping his face in your hands.
“Do you mean that?” You ask, afraid of the answer. “Please, tell me you do.” You whisper, like your body was begging for you to get closer to him already.
“I do.” He replies, taking his hands to your waist. “You are art, and I would spend days analyzing every detail of you.”
As your eyes locked, an overwhelming sense of tenderness washed over both of you. The kitchen's aromas faded into the background, and it was as though the entire universe had conspired to bring you to this moment.
Without haste, you pressed your lips to his in a gentle, lingering kiss. It was a meeting of souls that had been separated for far too long, a kiss that held the weight of a lifetime of unspoken love. Warren pulls you closer, feeling every curve of your body as he promises to “analyze every detail of you”.
The world seemed to hold its breath as your lips danced together, a delicate and cherished connection. Each brush of your lips conveyed the depth of your affection, a love that had patiently waited for its time to bloom. You play with the curly strands of his hair, showing urgency at this moment, for him, for both of you.
Time stood still as you shared that kiss, a moment suspended in eternity. It was a kiss that whispered of a profound bond, of two soulmates reunited at last, afraid to let go, lest this precious moment vanish like a dream.
When you finally parted, there was a softness in your gaze, and a huge smile on his face, you caressed his cheeks feeling his unshaven beard almost meeting his mustache, he plays with your shirt as if trying to keep his hands to himself.
“Thank God!” Eddie's voice makes you both jump in fright. “Took you long enough!”
Eddie Roundtree: We were starving!! They wouldn't come back. *Shrugs*

SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL
Chapter 00 / Broadway Baby
Love Astor was born in 1951 and raised in New York, New York. The daughter of Robert 'Robbie' Astor, the business mogul, and June Koch, the film star. As a child, Love made a name for herself on Broadway, but as a teenager, she delved into the world of rock 'n' roll.
LILIAN WILLIAMS (former acting coach, the Williams School of Musical Theatre): Oh, yeah, I remember Love Astor.
We met for the first time in ‘55, probably. ‘56 at the latest. Into the school came her mother, June (Koch), dressed to the nines. Think Jackie Kennedy. There’s no way that woman wasn’t going for the First Lady look. Honestly, you might have mistaken her for a politician’s wife rather than an actress. At her side was this beautiful little girl. “This is my daughter, Love,” June said, nodding to her look alike. Love, like her mother, had this long, thick black hair that fell all the way down her back. Her eyes were this stunning sea green color. To this day, they still remind me of the beach. And her cheekbones were sharp, so sharp the rich pay to have theirs come even remotely close.
“What can I do for you, June?” I asked, expecting her to request more lessons for herself, but no. Imagine my surprise when she said, “Love here has the potential to be a great singer, but she needs to be trained. You could help refine her voice, could help turn her potential into skill.”
It came as a surprise, because Love was so young at that point, no older than four. Most children start theatre training between six and eight, but June wanted her children to be like her and Robbie: extraordinary. Usually, I’d refuse to train a child that young, but then June had Love sing one of Judy Garland’s songs. “Over the Rainbow,” if memory serves, and her delivery was smooth, polished. I thought, This kid is going to be somebody when she’s older, and I . . . I want to play a part in making her somebody.
So we started training, and by the mid ‘60s, she was getting casted on Broadway. Playing a part in Camelot, Fiddler on the Roof, Dames at Sea, and Cabaret. A few of the parts were written for older women, but the ‘60s were a different time. No one batted an eye at a teenage girl being cast as a woman. And Love, she put everything she had into each and every part, earning her the love and attention of many. Hell, not even critics had anything bad to say about her . . . until her brother died.
─── ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ───
On December 1, 1969, the U.S. Selective Service System conducted a lottery to determine the draft order for 1970. Stephen Astro, born March 14, 1949, was assigned lottery number 12.
LOVE ASTOR (singer, Daisy Jones & The Six): For the first eighteen years of my life, I lived at the whims of my mother. “Sing, Love. Eat better. Try harder at school,” she commanded, and I would without hesitation or reserve, because I had been made into a sponge, made to take in whatever orders she wanted. Then, my brother, my dearest friend in the whole world, got drafted, and it changed things. Stephen promised that he would return from Vietnam, that he’d be back before we even realized he was gone, but that was a lie. For eight months, there was radio silence, then word came that he died in Laos.
There was no body, so we buried an empty casket. And that . . . that broke me. I couldn’t bear the thought of him forever being lost, so I looked for something to quiet my mind, to numb the pain. That led me not only to the rock scene but to everything that came with it — drugs, alcohol, sex, and everything in between.
DALE WRIGHT (former bouncer, The Blue Room): I worked at The Blue Room from 1969 to 1974. It was a real sketchy club, bringing in folks from the seediest pockets of the boroughs, but goddamn was there good music. It (the music) drew in tons of better-off folks whose names I don’t remember, but I remember Love Astor. The first time I saw her, I was kicking out a junkie and in walks this bright-eyed, super skinny girl. She had the longest hair I’ve ever seen, and it was tied into some odd braid about her head. Her smile too . . . her smile was something else. It made you feel like you were the only person in the world. She was with some guy who was probably three times her age. He looked at her like she’d hung the moon, but she shed him by the end of the night and left on the arm of a roadie.
After that first time, she started coming in more and more. Four or five times a week, and each time, she’s make it a habit to talk to me and the rest of the club staff, to get to know us. Love was a real people person, you see. She was always happy, and wanted those around her to be happy, too. There was an innocence to her, a naïveté, which was why I made sure to keep an eye out for her. God knows no one else there was.

The Alternative | Warren Rojas x Reader
A/N: Again, this took over a week for me to write because I get distracted easily. It's a shorter one, more like a blurb, but it's cute and does the job 💕
Request: hiiii warren request🫣 can you write a one shot where warren and reader sneak off at camilla’s housewarming party in ep. 4 to get high and there is a lot of sexual tension and they end up hooking up. THANK YOU
Warnings: Getting high, mentions of the band fighting, reader and Warren sneaking off

Daisy Jones and The Six Masterlist
There were many things you could look past when it came to The Six's behavior. Their constant arguments were one of them.
Once the disagreements started, you knew better than to stick around and watch it play out. So you just took your things and sat on the back porch, waiting for the yelling to die down.
On most days, it was Billy telling everybody to fuck off. Other days, it was Eddie telling Billy to fuck off. And some days, it was Karen telling them both to fuck off.
Being their neighbor, you heard most of their arguments. I mean, there wasn't much space between your houses and they weren't exactly quiet people.
Regardless, you had grown to love them. You, Karen, and Camila hung out every Thursday night at your place so they could get a break from whatever shit the boys were getting into.
Other days, Warren came over with his drumsticks to test how they sounded on your pots and pans—which he claimed "sounded different" than the ones they used at their house.
He'd spend hours just banging on different pieces of metal until he found a beat he liked. Then, he'd take your face in his hands, loudly say, "I'm a genius", and run back to show Billy what he's figured out.
Of course, Billy told him to talk to him when he wasn't high on marijuana—which wasn't often.
Those were the moments you enjoyed. Not wanting to ruin your friendships with the band, you stayed out of any drama that ensued between them for your own sanity. Sure, you had plenty of things you could say, but you'd never be able to finish a sentence without being spoken over.
So you kept your mouth shut, grabbed a bottle of wine, and sat in what had become "your chair."
Tonight was like most nights, the band was having a small spat. Billy was irritated that Daisy was there, Graham and Karen were God knows where, Eddie was sulking, and Camila was trying to fix everything.
You were in the same spot as always, rocking back and forth with a bottle in your hand, looking up at the endless array of stars.
It was peaceful and oddly humbling—knowing you were just a tiny fragment in the world. God, you were drunk off your ass.
Light footsteps behind you broke your train of thought and you watched as Warren came into view.
"Hey, neighbor," He said with a smile, nursing a bottle of beer, "Mind if I join you?"
"They're still fighting?"
He shrugged, sitting beside you in the other rocking chair, taking a swig of his drink, "Billy's not happy."
"When is he?" You scoffed, throwing back your wine, finishing the bottle, "He's always in a fucking mood."
"That's Billy for you. Always grumpy."
You dipped your head back with a groan, "I don't know who's worse—him or Eddie."
"Oh, Billy. It's definitely Billy."
Unable to stop yourself, you burst out laughing. The alcohol was starting to take a toll on your physical state, "So, what brings you out here? You stargaze often?
He grinned at your teasing tone, breaking eye contact and looking down at his feet, shaking his head, "No, no, just wanted to keep you company. And see if you'd do weed with me."
"Better than the alternative."
"What's the alternative?"
You gave him a knowing look, "Not doing weed with you."
- - -
You and Warren were laying on the floor of the back porch, laughing hysterically at something he said—but you couldn't exactly remember what he said—and neither did he. That itself added to the humor of it all. At least, it did for you.
Nothing could disturb the two of you, not the lights going out, Julia's crying, or the loud sound of the swarm of people inside of the house.
"So she walked in to see Eddie in a dress and Graham in nothing but his—his—" You couldn't even get the words out without laughing.
Warren slapped the wooden boards beside him, laughing so hard he was practically snorting, "I wasn't any better, I was a pirate."
You kicked your legs, holding your stomach, "I can't—I can't breathe—"
Warren sat up, leaning over you, "I can give you CPR."
You were pretty out of it, but you understood what he was saying. The thing is—you didn't want him to give you CPR.
"We could just go to my place instead."
Warren raised his brows, "You think we can make it that far?"
"I think we can at least make it to my front lawn."
He got on his knees, grabbing the rocking chair to pull himself up. The chair swung back, causing him to fall back down to the ground.
You looked over at him—and as soon as his eyes met yours, the two of you burst out laughing.
Pushing yourself up off the ground, you reached your hand out, "Come on, let's get you out of those clothes."
You've never seen him run faster in your life.

𝐉𝐔𝐋𝐘 - ( 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐞 ! )
synopsis -> in which your marriage reaches a breaking point !
warnings -> billy is a dick, toxic relationship, inspired by the song ‘july’ !
(Y/N) - Question for you. Do you know what the honeymoon phase is? The first part of the relationship was lovely, he’d take me on romantic dates, write me songs, just all the classic romance stuff.
Billy - We were happy.
(Y/N) - You know, until we weren’t.
“Where the fuck have you been?” Your husband questions you as you walk into the kitchen, tossing your high heels on the floor and adjusting your short dress. “I went out for a bit.” You reply, grabbing a glass of water from the sink, Billy shifting in his chair to face you. “It’s past midnight, what were you doing out so late?” He huffs. “I never interrogate you when you’re out until like four in the morning, probably with Daisy.” You shake your head, starting to raise your voice. “For the thousandth time, we’re just friends! We’re not even friends, actually, we’re just in the same fucking band.” He yells, becoming increasingly frustrated. It’s silent, until, “Billy, please, just tell me if you love her, so I can leave.” You suddenly breakdown, tears threatening to spill. It’s probably the alcohol, but either way, this marriage has been doomed to fall apart eventually. “Leave?” His eyes slightly widen, “You want to leave me? You’re gonna fucking leave me? Over something going on in your head, over you being jealous of Daisy?!” He continues. You don’t say anything, closing your eyes and gripping the edge of the counter, your knuckles going pale. “Say something.” He mumbles. “I stayed by your fucking side! For everything! Me, Billy, me! I sat at home while you were on tour, hooking up with random girls! And when you got home? I was still there, waiting for you, ready to help you recover! I could’ve left, but I didn’t, because I loved you!” You break, walking out of the kitchen and towards him, staring at the man. “I didn’t ask for any of that, you didn’t have to stay.” He says. There’s no going back.
