Elliott is not a man built for the cold. He's skinny, it makes his joint pain worse, he gets so lethargic and ouchie and needs to be bundled up and held close to warm him up. He tries to avoid being out in it, but he can only do so much to actually do that. He has to work, he has errands to run, etc. Most of what you see of him during the winter is things he absolutely can't put off, and you'll find him pitiful and sick as a dog
Warren is not a fan of the cold, nor is Arthur. She doesn't like when things gets icy or when it's snowy or cold out, and she also doesn't like being bundled up like would be required to actually stay warm and cozy. Arthur is a cat and does not want any clothes and likes to stay cozy and lay down by the fire
Florence is indifferent to the cold. She'll just steal something warm from clients and be dripped tf out in whatever nice coats they had, and then she's on the move. Best way to brave a cold day is to warm it up with someone else
The Surgeon hates the cold. He will bundle up and avoids any extracurricular activities he can get away with. (my personal headcanon is that devils want to hibernate in the winter, and the Embassy is host to a lot of events that gather them all together for parties or to snuggle)
Bolormaa couldn't care less about the cold. The Zee is frigid in some spots, who gives a shit. Throw on the deel and maybe another layer or two depending on how nasty it is, but he's pretty indifferent to it. He's definitely a brave the weather sort of woman
Rhoda is not a fan of the cold, but she believes in practicality. She will brave the weather, because it's what she must, but not because she likes it or wants to
Convo on discord made me think; how well does your fallen london OC react to the cold? Do they bundle up or try to brave it?

🌕🐰🧠
Answering these for everybody, for funsies :3c under a readmore for length
🌕 - If this oc was an animal, what kind would they be? Elliott: a rat, or a dog
Warren: a kitty cat :3
Arthur: n/a since he IS an animal. He does have a humansona floating around somewhere, though
Florence: maybe a weasel or a spider, though she fancies herself a fox
Doc: a bee is too obvious, as is a goat, so I'd say potentially a
Bolormaa: a bear, or a shark
Rhoda: a peacock
🐰 - How huggable is this oc? Elliott: 10/10. Far and away the most huggable of my characters. He isn't necessarily the most comfortable to hug, he's so thin and lanky and usually kind of layered because he's chilly but that doesn't soften his frame much, but he radiates such personal warmth and love and is so tender and excited to be touching someone else. If he coulf live pancaked to a loved one 24/7 you would find no one happier on earth
Warren: 4/10. She doesn't really like being touched by people, or feeling like she's being smothered or restrained like huge often do. When she's in a gracious enough mood to allow one, it's more that you're hugging her, she doesn't really hug back. She's in that kinda scrawny weird teen phase
Arthur: 8/10. He will not allow hugs very often (looking over a cat and wrapping your arms around it is not often a favored activity), but if you're somebody whom he's fond of, he is happy to sit in your lap and purr while you pet him, and will happily sit there until you're done and convince him to move. He's a big fat tabby that purrs like a freight train and is exceptionally soft when he's actually been washed and brushed out recently
Florence: already answered!
Doc: 1/10. No <3
Bolormaa: 7/10. He's not really much of a hugger, aside from the like amiable sort of gentleman's half hug around the shoulders that threatens to take you off your feet, but can be coaxed into a proper one during tender moments. He's warm and strong, and you can feel the muscle beneath his clothes when he envelops you in the embrace
Rhoda: 8/10. She doesn't hug often, mostly because there are always eyes on her, but in more private moments, she enjoys the contact and company of being embraced. She's soft and warm and always smells nice and her hair is so silky
🧠 - What is their stress response: fight, flight, freeze, or fawn? Elliott: fawn
Warren: fight
Arthur: flight
Florence: flight
Doc: fight
Bolormaa: fight
Rhoda: freeze

🦑 🎄 and 🌅 for the ask game!!
(the-capricious-socialite)
🦑 — Would they kiss a Rubbery Man?
Yes: Warren, Florence, Bolormaa
No: Elliott, Arthur, Doc, Rhoda
🎄 — What's their favourite festival?
Feast of the Exceptional Rose: Florence, Rhoda
Fruits of the Zee: Elliott, Doc, Bolormaa
Hallowmas: Warren, Arthur
🌅 — Do they miss the Surface? What was their life like up there?
Elliott is actually my only Surface born! He misses it terribly. He misses where he grew up in Virginia, and often finds himself wishing he could have just one day to sit under the Sun again. He didn't appreciate it enough while he had it. He misses gardening. He misses the rain, the stars, the clouds. He supposes you never know what you have until you've lost it. Granted, his life up there sucked. His family was dirt poor in a little speck of a farming town, and he was orphaned pretty young, so it was mostly just him and his brother. He rarely talks much about his childhood

🪞? ⚰️? (Ask game)
Only answering for the people to whom it's applicable!
🪞 — Do they enjoy being in Parabola? Why or why not?
Warren: she likes the sense of freedom there. Everything is kind of loosey goosey, and Arthur is a big tiger, and things change underneath her feet (sometimes even at her behest!!) Arthur said she can share his territory as a Baronet to practice in, so she's kind of got free reign to go ham and try and figure things out
Arthur: being a tiger is nicer than being a tabby, and it's nice to be back in his home turf. To be where he has control and can set his kid loose to do whatever she pleases, knowing she's safe and there won't be any repercussions for them fucking around and finding out
⚰️ — What's their most common cause of death?
Elliott: it's a tie! He's been shot twice and stabbed twice (among other things)
Warren: both times she's died have been by stabbings! Once as revenge from another urchin she got into a massive scuffle with when she was like 7, once before that when she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time doing urchin things
Florence: she's been strangled to death a few times (some related to her work in scarlet stockings going awry, some relating to random crimes where she got caught and people were not very happy)
Bolormaa: bar brawling/fight ring incidents. Can't win 'em all!
Rhoda: I imagine some kind of poisoning from the dyeing process, or potentially accidents while out collecting specimens for her work

💀 and 🌈 for any/all ocs!
This is a lot so I'm gonna stick it under a cut (and hope that a readmore works in an ask??)
💀 — What's their relationship with the Boatman like?
Elliott: he's met him a few times. The first time was filled with utterly horrified Catholic screaming, but subsequent times he's been relatively peaceful about it. He doesn't play chess, but he make idle chitchat with the other passengers, and directs conversation towards the Boatman which is rarely, if ever, returned
Warren: she thinks he's soooo cool. Imagine being a skeleton that's dead but also alive but also not. Standing in a boat all day sounds kind of boring, but he was nice to her the two times she's been there and met him
Arthur: he's never met him! It kinda seems like as an animal you get one (1) shot at the whole living thing, so he doubts they'll ever meet unless as a sacrifice, but that's fine. He doesn't have much opinion on him on the whole
Florence: she thinks he could stand to really liven things up (ha) around the slow boat. Frankly, it's boring. She asked him once if he'd ever seen her husband pass through here, or if the Zee bypasses him entirely. She got no response, which she figured was a pretty resounding 'no', and left it at that
Doc: I don't...think Devils hit the slow boat? I think they just sort of flutter back towards Hell and get a new body? maybe? I think he's certainly aware of the Boatman, but doesn't particularly give two shits about him
Bolormaa: he thinks he's fine. They've played chess a few times, he thinks the Boatman might be hustling with his fast improvement, or he's just very quick to learn, so he's stopped playing chess with him and just sort of chills to wait it out
Rhoda: their relationship is tense, but cordial. He is improving just as quickly as she is in chess, and this is starting to feel like an arms race.
🌈 — Do they do anything unique or interesting with Neathy colours?
Elliott: he's been experimenting with using the Neathbow to grow plants. The results have been...mixed, at best. He keeps this a secret, lest anyone find out and get mad (or, worse, demand to expect something from it, when he has yet to produce any results worth sharing)
Warren: she's been receiving training as a Silverer, so she's been making use of cosmogone! (though in the form of the ferule on her cane, given that spectacles aren't really gonna do much for her)
Arthur: nah lol
Florence: she's mostly just chillin as far as the Neathbow is concerned, but she has been making a killing hawking empty mirror-catch boxes to people to do their own random Neathbow shit
Doc: I would not be shocked if I heard he's been running unethical studies regarding the application of the Neathbow to medicine. I know in my heart he's probably doing some weird inhumane shit that may or may not actually produce any results that are worth having received
Bolormaa: he is probably starting to see some of the effects of peligin. He's not a monster hunter strictly, and rarely partakes of the things he kills aside from field dressing and getting things prepped to sell, but when food's running short, anything that might be edible is considered to be so until proven otherwise
Rhoda: I like to think she's finding some way to incorporate it into her millinery. I don't know how she'd do it, maybe in dyeing the fabrics, or in some naturally occurring manner in the horticulture for it, but she'd be remiss as someone in fashion to NOT be including a whole new array of colors that nobody else has access to

🐀 — Are they friends with any rats? (da big rat who makes ALL da rules <- goes through my head any time i see the word rat)
Warren works in the Rat Factory part time to earn her little wages and be a productive member of society (Arthur is not allowed inside the factory, which she is sad about, but she makes it up to him by sharing her wages.) Elliott almost had a heart attack when she said "I GOT A JOB IN A FACTORY" but feels much better knowing it's the rat factory and her main jobs are "being taller than a rat to grab things from high up" and "pulling a lever because it's really hard for them" and also being everybody's favorite little miscreant
Elliott also had a pet rat growing up and has wrestled with the moral implications of that ever since he met the more sapient ones down in the Neath (her name was Gregory. She gave birth to some pups and then got eaten by a hawk (and he is still scared of birds because of it))

Ask from @electricpoolshark! Answering here so I can slap a readmore on it since you didn't specify anyone so I am doing :3c everyone
What does your OC think how they’ll die?
Elliott: he expects that he'll probably die at Zee, as is the fate of a lot of zailors. It isn't an unusual way to go, his real hope is that he'll have earned enough money and taught his kids well enough and gotten them set up with backup plans to be able to thrive once he's gone
Warren: she simply doesn't intend to die, but if she does, she's sure it will be doing something incredibly grand and daring and she will perhaps even get her own folk song written about her
Arthur: he's pretty sure it'll just be old age. He's already 14, which is relatively high up there for a cat, so he's fairly certain he's got like a good year or two left in him and then he'll just go find some woods somewhere to crawl off into
Florence: she's sure that, when the time comes, it will be from a double cross. Someone will sell her out on some job or another, and she'll meet her maker (metaphorically) and that'll be that
Doc: he also doesn't intend to die, but if he does, it will likely be at the hands of whatever Judgement banished them in the first place (since, clearly, it will not be London which destroys them, but he welcomes another Campaign of '68 should they be so inclined to try)
Bolormaa: he also expects he'll probably die at Zee. He's not technically a monster hunter, but he essentially works that job on the ship, and being the woman shooting things with cannons tends to make one a target for Zee-beasts that don't particularly enjoy getting shot
Rhoda: she's fairly certain it will be in some event that nearly wipes out the City, given the course of the last few years. She'd prefer it to be something calm and peaceful when she is quite old, but summers are making her less sure this will be the case
Would your OC survive for a week on their own in the wilderness?
Elliott: it is unlikely. He spent a lot of time outside as a youth, but he is not someone I can imagine hunting, or knowing what is or isn't edible, and he's already pretty thin and sickly so he hasn't got much in reserves to help him out
Warren: despite what she'd tell you, no. She'd feel like she's hot stuff for the first like eight hours and then she would want to go home very badly
Arthur: yes! He's got a leg up on everybody else by virtue of being a literal animal. He survived on his own before, and he could do it again if need be, though with a bit more difficulty because he's an old man who has been spoiled for years now
Florence: probably not. She'd eat some weird berries that she watched an animal eat and reason that it must be safe for her also and then die on like day 2
Doc: it's a toss up. On one hand, he's got the advantage of being a devil and therefore having, presumably, weird anatomy considering they eat and drink things made from poison and that can light things on fire. On the other hand, he might just fucking kill himself to get out of the wilderness because death is preferable to camping
Bolormaa: it's possible. He has decent nature skills and is good with improvised weapons, but would fare a lot better in a marine environment or the plains due to his familiarity with it over, like, the straight up woods
Rhoda: probably not. She's not really a woodsman, and though she has a lot of knowledge regarding mushrooms and their foraging and cultivation, she's not really equipped for many other survivable skills

I've been looking at fashion plates and patterns again (the Delineator, my beloved) so these are two of Warren's dresses + their actual counterparts!
The everyday dress is less bedecked than its catalogue counterpart is, because, let's be real, she's a little goblin and it'll get beat up, and he couldn't afford to get her anything nicer knowing she would probably pick at it and it would start to come off and he wouldn't be able to properly match it, and the money would be better spent elsewhere. The lilac one is more elaborate, with the huge sleeves and the ribbon and the bows, and for more special occasions

Apples, Spices, Wines, and Cups for Elliott!! And Stones, Apples, Wines, Cups for Warren 🥺 if you dont mind
For Elliott:
Apples: his closest is probably either the Church or the Docks, because he works on the tramp steamers and is a devout Catholic. He probably opposes Hell or the Revolutionaries the most, because of his struggle with being extorted into spirifage and his abhorrence of violence and harm coming to innocents. It’s my personal headcanon that he and Cora Bagley are friends and sit together in church
Spices: he has done honey a couple times (when he first came to the Neath he spent a lot of time staying in the back of honeydens for shelter until he got a place to live), but he doesn’t like the thought of becoming honeymazed and is afraid of indulging and ending up addicted. He struggles with alcoholism, and has kicked and gotten back into it a few different times
Wines: The Ailing Zailor; Watchful +5; Shadowy -2; Bizarre +1; He works tirelessly, offering reports from ports near and far. He insists on meeting for tea when he hands them over, and though his conspicuous nature draws more attention than you might like, his reports are valuable. The headcold is a parting gift as he sets zail once again.
Cups: Elliott likes to think himself a kind man who doesn’t bear grudges but he loathes the Masters and everything they stand for. They regulate everyone’s lives with iron fists, and he doesn’t know any of the more intricate workings beyond the general knowledge of Londoners but he is certain there’s more to them than meets the eye. He would probably ally with Mirrors simply because he hasn’t heard anything about it and is hoping that’s because it’s good (at least as far as the Masters can be)
For Warren:
Stones: her highest Quirks are probably Daring, Ruthless, and Forceful? She's not a bad kid, but she's definitely a product of being a street Urchin. She belongs to the Sign of the Cat, creative and passionate and artistic, and close with ginger tabbies
Apples: her closest faction is likely Criminals since she never associated with an Urchin Gang but has made a number of acquaintances of the less than lawful variety. She avoids the rooftops like the plague, but if there were a faction for cats she would be associated with them. Her least closest to is definitely either Constables or Society. She hates them both and they hate her right back
Wines: The Blind Urchin; Watchful -2; Shadowy +3; Persuasive +1; Suspicion -1; Her talents lie more in petty pickpocketing and being a menace than anything particularly useful as a partner, but an innocent face gets her far.
Cups: Warren thinks the Masters suck (but a certain one of their Neddy Men has endeared himself to her). She doesn't like authority, and she thinks they're mean and probably very ugly and smell bad (unlike her, who is very beautiful and strong and cool). If she had to pick one as an ally, she'd pick Cups because she also likes collecting a bunch of random trinkets and things people might consider garbage

Photo
[Image Description: a reference sheet for Warren Madeleine Penbrook, the Blind Urchin. She is located in the bottom left of the image. She is a short girl with messy hair to her shoulders and a curl on top, and is wearing a patched green overcoat with sleeves past her hands, a pink dress, grey socks up to her knees, and brown boots to her shins. She is holding a knife in her right hand, and is smirking as she looks to the right. One hand is on her hip.
Across the top of the image are a blue eye and a bright smile, revealing several missing teeth. To the right of these are a patchwork lion toy labelled as Beans the Lion, a First City Coin, a bulging brown bag filled with rocks, a trio of jars with sticks, dirt, and rocks labelled as Bug Jars, and a set of watercolors.
To the right of Warren’s turnaround is a box containing the colors used in her palette, and to the right of that is a large text box which reads: Pronouns: she/her Height: 4'2 (127 cm) Weight: 60 lbs (27.2 kg) Age: 10 Birthday: August 4th, 1888 A noted part of the flood of Urchins that plague London's streets on a regular basis. She may be blind, but she never lets that stop her from getting what she wants and acting as if she owns the entire city, and her attitude is much bigger than her meager proportions. She never aligned with a gang, leaving her rather connection-less among the other Urchins, but she still gets on witht hem and is able to conduct trades for their marbles and other odds and ends. She's more connected, however, with the cats of the city, and as such is privy to secrets and gossip usually reserved for those who can nab them. Though she's quite surly and crass, she's got a good heart. Orphaned at a young age and raised on the streets, she knows how to fend for herself, but she's never far from Arthur, whom she considers her closest family. End ID]
Warren’s updated ref! Hers was a lot of fun to work on, and she’s always a great muse to play around with. She’s a cool character, and I enjoy working with her
