Elliott is not a man built for the cold. He's skinny, it makes his joint pain worse, he gets so lethargic and ouchie and needs to be bundled up and held close to warm him up. He tries to avoid being out in it, but he can only do so much to actually do that. He has to work, he has errands to run, etc. Most of what you see of him during the winter is things he absolutely can't put off, and you'll find him pitiful and sick as a dog

Warren is not a fan of the cold, nor is Arthur. She doesn't like when things gets icy or when it's snowy or cold out, and she also doesn't like being bundled up like would be required to actually stay warm and cozy. Arthur is a cat and does not want any clothes and likes to stay cozy and lay down by the fire

Florence is indifferent to the cold. She'll just steal something warm from clients and be dripped tf out in whatever nice coats they had, and then she's on the move. Best way to brave a cold day is to warm it up with someone else

The Surgeon hates the cold. He will bundle up and avoids any extracurricular activities he can get away with. (my personal headcanon is that devils want to hibernate in the winter, and the Embassy is host to a lot of events that gather them all together for parties or to snuggle)

Bolormaa couldn't care less about the cold. The Zee is frigid in some spots, who gives a shit. Throw on the deel and maybe another layer or two depending on how nasty it is, but he's pretty indifferent to it. He's definitely a brave the weather sort of woman

Rhoda is not a fan of the cold, but she believes in practicality. She will brave the weather, because it's what she must, but not because she likes it or wants to

LAURINBURG — Florence "Flo" Johnston, 87, of Laurinburg passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 7 2018.

Flo was a self-taught, national award-winning journalist for the Durham Herald Sun for over 20 years. She was best known for her work as the editor of the religion section of the newspaper. She held degrees from Bob Jones University (Class of 1953) and the University of Georgia. In addition to being a journalist, Flo also taught high school English and journalism over the course of her career. She was an accomplished musician and pianist who volunteered regularly to play for Sunday morning services for the mentally disabled at Butner Hospital.

Those that knew Flo loved her for her firm convictions, her irreverent humor, and her generous spirit. Flo could often be found enjoying a cigar on her back porch after spending a long day polishing one of her columns for the paper. She was equally comfortable interviewing powerful religious leaders and attending church with the homeless.

She was the youngest of Daniel Alton Monroe and Florence Kelly Monroe's four children. Her brothers D.A. and David preceded her in death.

She is survived by her brother, James, of Tallahasse, Fla.; her two sons, Clayton Penbrook Johnston, Jr. (Mindy) of Ansonville; and Kelly Monroe Johnston (Leslie) of New York City; four grandchildren: Laurel Miranda Mason Johnston of Tempe, Ariz.; Kristine Evelyn Murphy of Milwaukee, Wis.; and Bryan Phillip Thomas and John Arthur Johnston, both of Ansonville. She is also survived by several cousins, nephews, and nieces.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 10 at Scotia Village with visitation for family and friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to: Presbyterian Homes International, Inc. (PHI) Scotia Village, 2200 Elm Avenue, Laurinburg, NC 28352.

Services entrusted to Richard Boles Funeral Service of Laurinburg.

Mustering all my courage to ask why and how Florence has a horse-sized sorrow spider? (I might also throw a few more questions your way in a bit - probably all in one ask, but my curiosity demands to know about the sorrow spider situation)

The how is relatively simple! She found a baby one in her house and said "that's fine" and let it coexist because really she wasn't that pressed about it, and then it just...kept getting bigger. It molted, it got big again, it molted again, and so on and so forth, and by this point it was already an established presence in the house and they had a mutual understanding. She brought it rats, it took care of other pests, and she said "fantastic, now I have a pet". The why is *also* relatively straightforward, and that's that after she gave up Warren for adoption, she was REALLY lonely, and the gigantic tarantula was a convenient thing to attempt to bond with and put an unhealthy importance on. (Her name is Lucy, and occasionally she will hover over her mommy because she is now too big to sit in her hands, but just the right size to hunker down over her body like a nightmare. Florence loves this every time)

So the reason Florence can't stand FotZ and is afraid of it is that she absolutely wholeheartedly refuses to ever set foot on the Zee. The thing that killed her husband?? You want her to take part in a festival that's primary Thing™️ is "I go sit in the world's smallest and pathetic dinghy on the water and actively lure the horrors of the Zee to it to try and catch them"??

You will never catch her on the water by choice. Not for Fruits of the Zee, not for the Ragtag Flotilla and hunting the Lifebergs or the crabs or helping the whale, not for travel; if you ever see this woman out on the Zee, assume she has been kidnapped and couldn't immediately escalate things to incredible violence to try and get out of it

The reason that Elliott won't be able to stand FotZ is actually pretty much the same, once his arc reaches that point, except it will he him and not a spouse! A sunken ship of which there are almost no survivors. A month or two trapped on Hunter's Keep with no way back to London or even a way to pass a message until someone randomly stops by and he can beg passage

You want him to go back onto the water for pleasure? After he came so close to not making it back? You think that he should take that risk again when the Lord already blessed him once in letting him survive? (was it a blessing? was it a punishment? to know that so many more worthy people, people who all had someone else waiting for them to return safely, weren't able to but he did?)

It's crucial to me that people understand that, while she is very good at what she does (seduction, entertaining at parties, getting both in and out of trouble, etc) Florence is also, fundamentally, weird and kind of a loser
