I’ve told this story before: every 7th of July Prof. Wangari Maathai would attempt to plant a tree at Uhuru Park’s Freedom corner to agitate for change. Every Saba Saba she’d be clobbered by police. More than 20 years later her “children” are at Uhuru Park.
