#rin nohara#obito uchiha#obirin#(dubiously)#so so so crazy as hell about the rin that exists only as a (?) delusional hallucination in both obito and kakashi's head and how at the ver#end of the series we kind of get the vibe ghost rin was actually pretty chill about obito waging war against the whole entire world on her#behalf.. like...#the afterlife is canonically real and tangible and also you can pull people from it with edo tensei... so i also kind of feel like the#ghost of your closest childhood friend gaining some measure of sentience and coming to terms with her death and the greater context of what#it stood for in the ninja world... and obito being (to some degree) a very willing vessel to carry out justice and change after the#ninja world robbed them of their futures ??? that rules so hard to me#anyway#i have more and more thoughts about this because obviously but i'll leave it at that beloved bloggers... goodnight#my art

While your comment on non-US artists’ prices are valid it also shows your US-centrism………………. Not all people can pay in USD. In my country it’s somewhat similar that 20 is worth a 100, so this thinking is cutting out a majority of the customers who dont earn in USD. Why are you Americans so stupid hahahah
I had a feeling someone would come at me with this when I made that post, but if you are going to be advertising your prices in USD and in english on social media sites that are by default already very western-centric communities (twitter, reddit, tumblr), you are going to and most certainly intend to attract largely American and western european customers. If that is the currency you are using to advertise yourself in a freelance position where you have the opportunity to set your own labor value, then you are literally selling yourself short. Would you rather do a single drawing for 100 USD, or burn yourself out over five drawings for 20USD? The monetary outcome is the same, but in the first, your time is more respected.
Art is a luxury and a skill, not a basic life necessity like food that must be openly available to all who need it. You don't need a "majority" of customers paying you minimum wage if you have a small handful of customers paying you much greater sums.
The onus is not just on the artist to change this, though. US customers also need to stop taking advantage of international artists and pay them the same they would pay a local artist, and if they see someone setting prices like that, there had better be a meaty tip attached.
#you could argue differently if you were advertising on a local level.... maybe#but if your goal is to draw international customers then you have to consider prevailing wages in the currency you advertise#for YOUR sake as well as other artists#i gain nothing by telling you this i want you to have money#if underpaid outsourcing is amoral when a corporation does it it doesn't become virtuous when an individual does

I feel like Atsushi would so over the moon and swear undying loyalty to whoever showed him how to get his own library card. He'll be treating it like his most prized possession, second only to Chazuke

it's funny how when you'll give actual explanations as to why people are racist or transphobic or something similar, like how that happens and why it's happening now out of all times, that go beyond "white people/cishet people evil" so many people will instantly attack you for "apologia"
I think it kinda comes from this idea that identity politics has pushed that people of the unmarked categories like male white and cishet can't possibly struggle with things in life. but economic crises, which we have been in for 16 years now, affect everyone that's not part of the ruling class. prolonged economic instability alienates people from the status quo, from established parties, rhetoric and such. they begin to look elsewhere for solutions. the powers that be know to counteract this with reactionary politics. using scapegoating they'll promise the return to an (often imaginary) better yesterday, the very definition of reactionary politics.
these ideas sound plausible and actionable. things used to be better after all. those scapegoats used to not be there (as visibly) after all.
the way of solving this isn't to go "waaahh people are evil and fascism is back, woe is me" but to a) point out that these reactionary politics are not going to solve the problem because they are not the cause b) point out the actual cause of the problem (capitalism) c) offer actual alternatives (organizing, strikes, expropriating the bourgeoisie, and eventually total labor democracy)
#and no fascism isn't back and it's not going to be back in most of the western world#there's a difference between a military or police dictatorship which is what the US might degenerate into under trump#and actual fascism#most of the things everyone points to as fascist aren't actually fascist they're just reactionary#even genocide isn't unique to fascism. israel for example is a liberal democracy and it's still committing genocide.#all you need for genocide is a class society. its political manifestation is irrelevant tho some forms are certainly easier to do a genocid#in#it's important to understand that so you have no illusions in liberal democracy which is a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie#fascism isn't this generally evil society that we are constantly at the brink of falling back into#it was a very specific historical phenomenon#in which the petty bourgeoisie were used by totalitarian reactionaries as a battering ram against the working class#to violently suppress labor organization strikes and the potential downfall of capitalism and the rise of socialism#that was its role in germany italy and spain#it wouldn't work anymore today in the western world because the petty bourgeoisie has dwindled in numbers#as they are doomed to in the monopolization process of capitalist market anarchy#they are no longer a significant percentage of the population and no longer have the numbers to suppress the working class like that#because that's what differentiates fascism from a military dictatorship for example#a military dictatorship is a small group of people violently wrangling control of the state from its current holders#and abusing ALL of society for their personal gain. including the ruling class. marxists call this bonapartism#because napoleon bonaparte was the first to do so under capitalism#most importantly this means a military dictatorship does not have a mass base and relies on ruling by the sword#which makes it highly unstable and turns all of society against it#fascism was so dangerous because it DID have a mass base! the petty bourgeoisie!#vast amounts of them were in total support of fascist rule and actively pursued it. it wasn't just a small group of people.#this made the systems a lot more stable and a lot more powerful because they had large parts of society at their bidding#that sort of power and stability can no longer occur because their social base has mostly disappeared#they can whip up enough reactionary anger in the working class to perhaps GET to power#but as soon as a fascist politician starts going after unions strikes wages#launching the incredibly direct attacks against the working class that fascism always did#that voter base is going to turn against them very quickly

on a serious note going through active shooter training with people older than me on the order of decades makes me think that much more people would probably agree on tighter gun controls than younger generations realize. they just either can’t bring themselves to discuss it openly or feel like such discussion wouldn’t be welcome
#i just think in general we have nothing to gain and everything to lose if we lack cross-generational dialogue#a lot of older people are really willing to hear out what young people have to say#and more older people than the internet makes it seem like have a lot of sympathy for younger people’s struggles#in my own group we freely talked about gun violence and cost of living and housing and paternity leave#unanimously the group agreed that guns should be more closely regulated. that wages need to reflect higher costs of living.#that there is a housing crisis that older people have benefited from and that we need to fix that#of course the ways in doing that differ but i feel like too many people think older generations are just willfully ignorant of everything#older generations - even those whose political views wr might quickly assume - see what is going on and have sympathy#even though we might not agree on how to fix these problems it’s not like they don’t care or are apathetic or whatever#and these were the same people that people from my kind of liberal university would dismiss as ‘conservative hicks’#when it’s like. lived experience for me to engage with these folks#anyways this got out of hand but#in essence. TOUCH GRASS TALK TO OLD PEOPLE

The $100m cutoff also makes a lot of sense, because there was a good reason unrealized capital gains were not previously taxed: housing.
If you own a house, and the value of that house increases in theory, should you pay tax on that? It's not clear how much your house would actually sell for, and we wouldn't want landlords buying up all the surrounding property to force existing residents out because they can't afford the capital gains tax on their house they are very much using.
But if you've got one hundred million dollars, even your most expensive property is a mere fraction of that total. Tax on unrealized gains isn't going to force you out of your home.
⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️
Conservatives are going nuts oner this
#The other way to close the loan loophole would be to count using it as collateral as a sale for tax purposes#Because clearly the bank thinks that stock is worth $X#But that would still let the ultra-rich sit on their wealth indefinitely#Taxes on all unrealized gains will force them to actually sell some of that stock to cover the tax on the rest#And reduce the rate at which they accumulate wealth#For reference 100 million dollars is about 100x the lifetime gross salary for a minimum wage worker in the US.

morning dove (112)
are you out of your mind?
or in greed has your spirit resigned?
have you taken your wage
from a few counterfeit erudites?
is the hour not well-nigh
to be rid of your marvelous guise?
will you finally accept
what you have so vehemently denied?
when you've lost all you've worked for
and your name's been decried
when they come looking for you
where will you go to hide?
have you traded your rights
for a chance to feel puissant again
to nefarious coldblooded men
who will pawn them for marginal gains?
were they lying in wait
for the hour you needed them most
when their lies had corrupted your bones
and they knew you'd come back for more?

#also not 2 sound conceited (though i probably am) but also kinda hate having to incorporate other's ideas sometimes too#like okay some of whats written here just sucks. but i cant just delete it because i didnt write it so instead i gotta try to not be rude#while i also try to get u to Not include that#i dont normally like. feel like i know better than other ppl in my class i think its just this One thing.... i do kind of know abt it#and i do know more than my group... and it rly feels like itd be so much easier if i just did this all myself#reminds me of getting paid min wage for tutoring and getting paid $20 a page to write someone's essay#like fuckkk itd be so much easier if i could just write this for you man#and better for everyone involved really. like u will gain nothing from doing this

Food for thought
I wonder about the soldiers of every nation when I think of war and the atrocities of it. I don't know the extent, but I know that in America, one doesn't simply leave the army, much less disobey a direct order. I imagine it is the same everywhere else, with varying degrees of risk to life, honor, and dignity. The realities are not advertised to those looking to join the American military. I doubt they are in other countries because few would want to then enlist to protect and serve. I respect our veterans and your everyday servicemen. There are bad apples in every bunch; some join for the wrong reasons. Some we see (and don't see) harm others without batting an eye, seeming to enjoy it, or doing it just cause they can. And there are those like that who aren't serving. But when it comes to this, I think of the soldier who joined our country's army because they wanted to genuinely help and make the world better or because the opportunities for their future that were promised were too good to pass up in their current situation. Those who didn't set out for power and guns. They are the real heroes whose names we don't know and often are the ones turned into corpses, whether literally or psychologically. And Tolkien, a veteran, knew the price better than I can imagine.
#war is something that the few in power wage to profit and control and gain more power#hardly are there wars fought for valid reasons#nations may be dragged in for valid reasons but the war itself is often started because of the few who are safe from harm
