I have recently once again am hyperfocusing on the Marvel Universe! I am not that familiar with the comics but I am very very familiar with the movies!
I consider myself a semi lit to novella, third person style for writing! Depends on the mood I’m in how much extra I can write! I love chatting ooc, I love making playlists and Pinterest boards for our stuff! I also use Tupper and am a sucker for texting style of rps as well, acting as if the characters are texting one another to just keep something going in the background as well!
Now onto ships! I do love a lot of ships but I do only do CC X CC I am not looking for ocs right now, I’m sure they are lovely but this is what I’m looking for! I am pretty flexible with who I prefer to write as but I am willing to swap if you prefer to write the same character! The ones I prefer to write as are going to have a * next to them!

Spideypool Bingo Round 3 Rules
PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE SIGNING UP, if only to save me from having to answer questions that have already been answered here.
The challenge is open to Writers, Artists, Playlist or Mood/Aesthetic Board Creators
Each round lasts Six Months
A unique Bingo Card will be issued within one week of sign-up. If you do not receive a card within 1 week of signing up for a round, please contact the mod(s) via email at [email protected].
Three types of Bingo Cards will be available: SFW, NSFW, or Mixed
Minors cannot request NSFW prompts, nor will explicit stories written by minors be shared on the blog. I'm not going to stop you from creating explicit content for your card if that's what you want to do, but for legal reasons, the blog cannot promote it.
Each participant may request changes to their card, but only once per person per round before that round has begun, so make sure to include all square changes at once.
Peter Parker/Wade Wilson should be the main pairing for all works (Obviously! What are you doing here if you don’t want to ship the boys??)
Complete squares in whichever order you wish!
Minimum Word Count: 300, No Maximum
All pieces should:
Be complete
Represent a single square on your Bingo Card
Able to be read/viewed as a stand alone piece
What counts as BINGO:
5 squares straight across vertically or horizontally in any row
5 squares diagonally in either direction.
No 4 corners
No combining squares
Each piece should stand alone, but pieces can be linked together into a series if desired
No Pay Walls Please—side hustles might be important, but this event is supposed to be for fun. Please keep all pieces freely available to everyone for the duration of the event.
If you Black Out your card before the round is over, you may request a second card.
Free Space can be whatever you want it to be.
Read the Rules? Good job! The safe word is: Aunt May
There should be some indication of which square the piece is filling wherever the art or story is posted, be it in the notes field (on AO3) or post description/tags (tumblr, twitter, pillowfort, instagram, deviantart, etc).
To be promoted on the blog, you will have to either tag @spideypoolbingo OR submit a post to the Spideypool Bingo blog
Questions? Concerns? Want to yell at me? Send an Ask to the blog or send me an email at [email protected]

Tomorrow: Let’s Start At (Kinda) The Beginning [Cable fic]
"Well team, that could have gone much worse" Wade said from the other side of the wreckage. I sighed and rolled my eyes, picking my empty gun up off the ground.
"Hey Cami, could you give me a hand?" he asked. I nodded my head in his direction.
"Yeah, what?" I asked.
"No, give me a hand. One's right next to you, the other is somewhere in that general direction" he replied, nodding behind me. I looked down and saw his right hand giving me a thumbs-up, and shook my head as I bent down to pick it up. Being the newest addition to the X-Force and only having known Wade for a little over a month, I still wasn't entirely used to the normalcy of losing body parts. I walked it over to him and tucked it into one of his belt pouches.
"Thanks girlfriend. Now could you get my other one? I think it flew somewhere in the building" he said. I sighed and turned around, jogging towards the now partially blown-up building. I passed Domino trying to help Russell put out some stray flames and continued to the other side of the explosion radius. Spotting it impaled on a stray pipe, I walked over to get it when I heard a muffled cry. I walked into the next room and saw Cable hunched over one of the bad guys' surviving henchmen.
"Please, no" he whimpered before a shot rang out. The man fell to the ground, a dripping red bullet hole between his eyes.
"Aw. But he said please" I said, making Cable turn around. I walked into the room as he stood up and holstered his gun.
"I had to. If he stayed alive-"
"The future would be doomed, I know. It was a joke Cable" I said. He squinted and took a step forward.
"Aren't you supposed to be with Wade?" he said.
"I'm retrieving his hand" I said, lifting it by its pinkie finger to see it making an "ok" symbol. He raised an eyebrow and grunted.
"Jesus Christ" he whispered. I chuckled and put it back down, before returning my attention to Cable.
"Why do you ask?" I asked in a chipper tone, rocking back and forth from the balls of my feet to my heels. He grunted and shook his head before turning away.
"I... didn't want you to see that..." he grumbled. I cocked my head to the side and raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"Um, I've seen you kill a bunch of times before. What's different about-"
"X-FORCE, ASSEMBLE" Wade yelled from the other side of the explosion. I looked back and sighed, rolling my eyes as I was cut off by his outburst. I turned back to Cable, who had taken the chance to collect his weapons and slung them onto his back. He walked out of the room, and I followed behind, still confused about his statement.
There was no question that I had become slightly attracted to Cable in the time that I'd been a part of X-Force. Despite his menacing glare and older, rugged appearance, there was something about him that had caught my eye. He seemed to always be there at the right time, and was quite protective. And he was a family man (I had learned about his travel from the future to stop Russell from becoming evil and killing his family, and then used his last charge to save Wade); if he couldn't get back to his family, why not take a shot, right?
However, he seemed to not have the same sort of attraction toward me. It was understandable; there was the large age gap, and, again, he had a family some fifty years in the future. But sometimes it seemed like he ignored me on purpose, almost as if he were preventing himself from something.
"Now, what were you two naughties doing? Lefty was poking me near my Cotton-Eyed Joe" Wade said, sitting impaled on a nearby cast-iron fence. I eyed Cable, who simply shook his head and muttered something under his breath. I looked back at Wade and sighed.
"It's Avengers, Assemble, you know that, right?" I asked.
"That, my young Padawan, would be a copyright violation, so it's X-Force Assemble for now" he replied. I rolled my eyes in response. A car horn sounded behind us and I turned to see the familiar taxi cab waiting for us on the street.
"Dopinder's here! Ooh, I call shotgun!" Wade exclaimed, wiggling his feet. He looked down, assessing his situation, and looked up at Cable.
"Darling, do you mind pulling me off this thing?" he asked. Cable gripped his shoulder and pulled him upward off the fence with a grunt, and stood him up.
"Much better. Oh, what a lovely breeze" he said as he walked to the cab, a hole visible in the butt of his suit. I chuckled and looked back at Cable, who's face remained unchanged.
"Do you ever smile?" I asked. He glared at me and shifted, turning in the opposite direction.
"I'll get the others" he replied dryly, and walked away. I shook my head.
"Guess that's a no" I said to myself as I walked to the cab. I got in next to Wade and tossed his hand at him.
"You forgot this" I said as I buckled myself in. He gasped in delight, picking up the hand with his nubs.
"Righty! Oh, I missed you. No one pleases me like you" he said. I grimaced, and looked out the window, seeing Cable walking back with Domino and Russell. They got in the car and we drove off, Dopinder in his normal happy mood as soft Indian music played in the background.
We arrived at the Charles Xavier Institute a while later, and piled out of the car. Colossus was waiting for us at the door, arms crossed and a scowl on his face.
"Wade, I heard explosions from here. What did you do?" he asked, glaring as we walked in the door. Wade threw his hands up in defense.
"Who knew cocaine was flammable?" he asked. I raised an eyebrow.
"It's not?" I replied. Wade whipped around and raised a nub to my face and shushed me.
"Touch me with that and you die" I threatened. He laughed and turned around, walking back into the mansion. Colossus heaved a sigh and wiped his face with his hand.
"In his defense... the cocaine did blow up... somehow..." I said before entering the mansion myself.
I made my way up to my room and pulled some clean clothes out of my dresser before making my way to the hall bathroom to shower. The soot and blood of the fight just hours ago washed off and I let the warm water run over me, clearing my head of the days events. I heard Cable's voice in my head-- I didn't want you to see that. What the hell was that supposed to mean?
I got out and dried off. As I began getting dressed, I realized I had forgotten shorts.
"Shit" I cursed myself. I gathered my things and took a breath, gripping the door handle. I'd have to make a run for it. I swung open the door and ran out, only to bump into something hard. I looked up and saw Cable, stiff as a board, and for the first time since I've known him, an expression other than stone-cold.
"Oh, um" he sputtered, looking up to the ceiling. I quickly bent down to pick up my things, when a high pitched whistle filled the hallway.
"Woah there, this story isn't set to mature... yet" Wade teased from the end of the hall. I looked at him with wide eyes, realizing the position Cable and I were in. I quickly shot up and began rambling.
"It's not-- Jesus, Wade, I forgot my--"
"Now, now, let's just keep our pants on for now" he said as he approached us. I pulled at the hem of my shirt, making it long enough to cover my embarrassingly pink underwear.
"Is that Hello Kitty I see?" Wade teased, cocking his head tot he side. Cable took a step in front of me.
"Leave her alone, Wilson" he said deeply. I heard Wade laugh and let out a sigh.
"Alright, you two have fun" he said, and proceeded to skip down the hallway. I stood frozen behind Cable, who had his back turned to me. After a minute of awkward silence, he cleared his throat and turned his head slightly tot he side.
"You, um, you alright?" he asked hesitantly. I gulped hard and nodded.
"Yeah... Goodnight" I replied quickly. I ran down the hall to my room and nearly threw the door open, slamming it shut and pressing myself to the inside of it. I let out a sigh of relief, finally in safety. That did not just happen I thought, mentally cursing myself for even just attempting it. Suddenly, I stopped, recalling the cringe-worthy event just moments ago.
In the brief second I stood in front of Cable, I could have sworn I saw a hint of something--attraction or, should I say longing, flash in his eyes. I shook my head, clearing my mind of the thought. No, that didn't happen.
Right?

Avari's RP Request
Good day to you fellow role-players! I would like to apologise in advance if this role-play request seems too sudden or it too out of context. If you would not like to receive such role-play requests then do let me know, I would remove you from my list. ✍(◔◡◔)
Anyway, my name is Unknown and would still be that way but feel free to call me Avari. Yes, I am a little brown girl who was the product of the love between two different races. White Choco Mom + Dark Brown Choco Dad= Little Brown Chocolate (>‿◠)✌ Eh….I apologise in advance if this is too much, I was never good at Math. SO! A few words to describe me, British, Dog Lover, Artist/Writer, 18 (less than 8 months to being 19) and Student at London Metropolitan University. I love, love coffee and Netflix (͡• ͜ʖ ͡•). Thus, now I am going to begin with the request.
Do’s And Don’t’s
giʍʍ૯ ℓѳทg, i'ℓℓ gi√૯ yѳષ ℓѳทg ✍(◔◡◔)
As long as you’re roleplaying with me, expect longer novella styled replies. I have had my fill of small one paragraph replies but they tend to lose their touch as the role-play progresses. No honey, I am not asking for a book from your side but I usually write between 400-800+ words to keep the flow in tact. Also, 1000+ words are alright as long as we both have a mutual understanding of it first.
ɳѳt! ɑ gʀɑɱɱɑʀ ɳɑzi (ㆆ_ㆆ)
Very, very flexible when grammar is concerned. I’m not a grammar nazi (also because it has the word ‘nazi’ in it….yikes) and also because not everyone’s mother tongue is English. Growing up in England, I was able to dissolve myself in the Western Culture and needless to say, I think my grammar is approximately 7.294837918/10...or you know, 7/10. I do make errors here and there so such errors can be ignored. But please no text talk? *puppy dog eyes sparkling through the screen.*
ѕнιρ ωαяѕ! ¢αηση σя σяιgιηαℓ ᕙ(`▿´)ᕗ
Plotting, characters, original characters, love interests etc….I LOVE ALL OF THEM! I usually have a main ship in a fandom and could ask you for a Canon x Canon if I crave it at the moment but knowing myself, I’d stick with an OC. So yes, OC x Canon, Oc x OC or Canon x Canon, I LOVE EM’ ALL! Yuri, Yaoi, Straight, Funatari (lol) LOVE EM’ ALL! Mary-Sues are welcome too since character designs are freaking awesome!
ησ ℓιмιтѕ, ησ мєя¢у (͠≖ ͜ʖ͠≖)👌
If you guys know about Deep Web and the Dark Side of Tumblr, you would know that I have seen a lot of shitty stuff in my life (even though I am only eighteen.) NOTHING IS FORBIDDEN AS LONG AS WE ROLE=PLAY except for the basics of necrophilia (how could you fuck a dead dude, girl? Have some standards!), pedophilia (I like Pedobear memes to be honest…), incest (nuff’ said) and bestiality (STAY AWAY FROM MY DOGGOS). Cursing, rape, violence, gore...all is welcome. Quick fact, I am a HUGE pervert so smut is an absolute must (gets slapped in a distance.)
ιƒ уσυ ωαηт тσ gσ, נυѕт gσ (╥︣﹏᷅╥)
I am going to be very stern about this one, ditching is fine with me because sometimes people don’t want to hurt the other person’s feelings. I have done this in the past but that was waaaaay before my current hiatus. I will let you know if I am not feeling like this role-play could progress further or for some other reason. It would be incredible if you could do the same?

Where I Work: Catherine Bailey of Heath Ceramics
A lot has changed since Heath Ceramics co-founder Catherine Bailey appeared on the Clever podcast earlier this year. A complete shift in how and where she works was necessary, as it has been for many people around the world. Instead of staying put at home, she moved to her property in West Marin, California in March to set up a simpler life and work existence in two vintage trailers. Despite its picturesque waterside location, Bailey finds herself more productive than ever having less distractions popping up throughout the day. For this month’s Where I Work, Heath creative director Catherine Bailey fills us all in on the business in the time of a pandemic, where she’s working, and how she’s getting it all done.
What’s your studio/work environment like?
So much is shifting, and just like everything else changing, and so has my work environment. My work requires me to meet with many different people at Heath. I look at physical objects, glazes, and products that must be seen and held to understand. A small but favorite part of my work is exploring my own ideas through painting and drawing, but most of my work is communicating with co-workers, through physical and digital conversations. Before Covid-19, I spent much of my work day in different meeting rooms and offices. My office, complete with our dog Ponch, was where I started and ended the day, and sometimes got some emails done. All creative work happened at home, in my office, or at the dining table, depending on the light and my mood.
Since March, when any of us who could work at home did so, I changed homes. I have been spending most of my time working out of a trailer in West Marin. I find this environment gives me perspective, helps me focus, and I can free my head to be creative here. It’s a simpler place, on the water, and in-between doing my work, I’m able to be outside. In this surrounding, we have several different spaces that work for us. We’ve got two trailers, a 1948 and a 1951 Spartanette, and we built a large deck to connect them. I work in one and sleep in the other. There’s also a cottage that’s in need of renovation (not just to make it prettier, but most would consider it a tear down shack) and can function as another space that I can work in. There’s also a picnic table where I can work outside. I’m happiest outside, and in this set up, I’m constantly outdoors, going between one space and the other. My family is often here as well, and the trailers allow us to be in separate contained spaces when we need to focus on our work independently.
How is your space organized/arranged?
I have my digital workspace set up in our 1948 Spartanette trailer. As makeshift as it is, it’s one of the most successful spaces I’ve worked in. The trailer has a built-in table, and I work on an old Aalto stool. I never work straight for more than 45 minutes. I need to get up, stretch, leave the trailer, and step outside. Getting outside so often gives me perspective, the small windows in the trailer create the perfect light for screen work, and since the space is independent, no one is passing through or distracting me. I’m so efficient in getting things done! I’ll also move locations a lot. I take video calls in the work trailer or sometimes in the cottage. Work in the evening can extend into the sleeping trailer. The trailers don’t have lots of storage space built in, so I don’t have years of accumulated stuff in this current work space, which feels freeing.
How long have you been in this space? Where did you work before that?
I’ve been working this way as much as I can since late March. I go into our Sausalito Factory to see and discuss samples, but other than that, I am doing all my work at the trailers.
If you could change something about your workspace, what would it be?
I really miss large work tables that foster collaboration and discussion!
Is there an office pet?
Ponch – as is Jon and Ponch… think 1980’s TV, Eric Estrada… he’s the best trailer office dog. In the regular office, he has a “jumping on people” problem.
Do you require music in the background? If so, who are some favorites?
I listen to a lot of audio books if I’m doing work that doesn’t require writing, most recently Utopia for Realists and The Nordic Theory of Everything. For music Rosanne Cash and Wilson Pickett have been on my playlist this month.
How do you record ideas?
Notebook with specific organization. A 6×6 notebook with heavy paper and a .005 felt tip.
Do you have an inspiration board? What’s on it right now?
I do inspiration documents in Google slides, that are specific to projects.
What is your typical work style?
It’s more haphazard than I’d like it to be. So much of my job is to support others and help them move forward. I’m constantly getting distracted by new fires to help put out, and it doesn’t allow me to often get into the flow of work that I find satisfying. Working out of the trailer is helping me be more focused when I dig into a project. Every day is different. Especially working an hour away from Heath, I have to plan trips into Sausalito or San Francisco in advance. What I love about working here is the weight and rhythm of nature – it is hitting me in the face all day and giving me a sense of rhythm that I never have had in my work life before. Two tides go out every day. Certain birds seem to have rhythm’s that I’m beginning to notice. I have a greater awareness of the connection of where the sun and shadows are to the time of day. It sounds strange, but it helps me organize my day and have more perspective as I wade through some of the most difficult conversations and decisions that are coming up at this time when so much certainty has disappeared.
What is your creative process and/or creative workflow like? Does it change every project or do you keep it the same?
There is consistency in my approach. I always try to look outside for what I know well for inspiration.
What kind of art/design/objects might you have scattered about the space?
The trailers themself are wonderful self-contained design objects, so being able to live in and around them is thought provoking and fulfilling. The exteriors are sheet aluminum and the interiors are made of wood. Walls, floors, ceilings. Lots of ⅛” ply. It’s a lightweight object for what it is, with materials that feel solid on the outside and warm on the inside. The lighting in the 1951 trailer is original and perfect, better than in my house. It’s sort of nice to be in this little bubble of nice design without having to add much, there’s not much space for art or additional objects, other than a few vintage paint-by-numbers paintings that I found at a garage sale years ago, and some ceramics from our studio.
What tool(s) do you most enjoy using in the design process?
Watercolors, they force you to be loose and I find that helpful at the beginning part of the process.
Let’s talk about how you’re wired. Tell us about your tech arsenal/devices.
Nothing terribly unique, I have a MacBook Pro, but working on presentations and photo editing on my huge iMac monitor is a dream.
What design software do you use, if any, and for what?
Not much! I do a lot of photo editing in Lightroom, and some drawing in Illustrator, but other than that, it’s all in Google – lots of Google slides to share inspiration, ideas, plans, and schedules. Especially now when we’re not meeting in person, finding ways of sharing and organizing is important. By taking photos of sketches, or mocking up super rough photos or ideas and collecting them in these documents, the work can be shared and others can contribute.
Personally, I love working on ideas for environments using Sketch Up, I build sloppy models, but they can serve as immersive napkin sketches.
What’s on your desk right now?
Some color explorations for the winter seasonal collection and my little notebook.
Is there a favorite project/piece you’ve worked on?
The Chez Panisse dinnerware we did with Alice Waters is one of my favorite projects. We recently re-released it with new glazes, and I am really happy with the end result and the collaboration. The dinnerware shapes pull from tradition, but are modern, relevant, and functional and the glazes are uniquely Heath. With this project, we are able to support the Edible School Yard. This organization was started by Alice Waters to create and sustain organic gardens in public school’s curriculum, culture, and food programs. The project felt successful on many levels.
Tell us about a current project you’re working on. What was the inspiration behind it?
This is a tough question to answer honestly at this moment. This year has been so hard, so many of the projects we’ve worked on and dreamed about have been delayed or cancelled. We were doing some beautiful work with Alabama Chain, which was going to come out this summer. That was postponed, our team and our factory is smaller due to Covid-19, and this all has an impact on the creative work that is the heart of Heath, and everyone at Heath. Our lead designer, and most of our product development team, was on temporary leave when it was time to decide if we would be able to do a new collection for Winter. Our studio director, Tung Chang, and I decided we would tackle it. We were also in the unfortunate position to have to lay off part of our team, so there were mountains of unknowns. We plowed forward, and are excited about the collection’s inspiration: Hope and Love. The feelings that those words evoke are the season, and override the normal inspirations and filters of winter. We just photographed it, so I cannot show the final result, but these are some of our tests and samples – look for it in October.
Do you have anything in your home that you’ve designed/created?
I designed the interior of my home, as well as this whole trailer indoor-outdoor work life situation that I’m now living in. The space has a bigger vision than these two trailers and the platform connecting them, but being forced to live in an uncompleted vision has made me ask questions about what is necessary and what is enough. There is a certain amount of perfection and detail in design that can sometimes make things better, but not always, and it should be questioned.

Alumnus gives MIT $4.5 million to establish the Broderick Fund for Phytocannabinoid Research
The following news is adapted from a press release issued in conjunction with Harvard Medical School.
Charles R. Broderick, an alumnus of MIT and Harvard University, has made gifts to both alma maters to support fundamental research into the effects of cannabis on the brain and behavior.
The gifts, totaling $9 million, represent the largest donation to date to support independent research on the science of cannabinoids. The donation will allow experts in the fields of neuroscience and biomedicine at MIT and Harvard Medical School to conduct research that may ultimately help unravel the biology of cannabinoids, illuminate their effects on the human brain, catalyze treatments, and inform evidence-based clinical guidelines, societal policies, and regulation of cannabis.
Lagging behind legislation
With the increasing use of cannabis both for medicinal and recreational purposes, there is a growing concern about critical gaps in knowledge.
In 2017, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine issued a report calling upon philanthropic organizations, private companies, public agencies and others to develop a “comprehensive evidence base” on the short- and long-term health effects — both beneficial and harmful — of cannabis use.
“Our desire is to fill the research void that currently exists in the science of cannabis,” says Broderick, who was an early investor in Canada’s medical marijuana market.
Broderick is the founder of Uji Capital LLC, a family office focused on quantitative opportunities in global equity capital markets. Identifying the growth of the Canadian legal cannabis market as a strategic investment opportunity, Broderick took equity positions in Tweed Marijuana Inc. and Aphria Inc., which have since grown into two of North America’s most successful cannabis companies. Subsequently, Broderick made a private investment in and served as a board member for Tokyo Smoke, a cannabis brand portfolio, which merged in 2017 to create Hiku Brands, where he served as chairman. Hiku Brands was acquired by Canopy Growth Corp. in 2018.
Through the Broderick gifts to Harvard Medical School and MIT’s School of Science through the Picower Institute for Learning and Memory and the McGovern Institute for Brain Research, the Broderick funds will support independent studies of the neurobiology of cannabis; its effects on brain development, various organ systems and overall health, including treatment and therapeutic contexts; and cognitive, behavioral and social ramifications.
“I want to destigmatize the conversation around cannabis — and, in part, that means providing facts to the medical community, as well as the general public,” says Broderick, who argues that independent research needs to form the basis for policy discussions, regardless of whether it is good for business. “Then we’re all working from the same information. We need to replace rhetoric with research.”
MIT: Focused on brain health and function
The gift to MIT from Broderick will provide $4.5 million over three years to support independent research for four scientists at the McGovern and Picower institutes.
Two of these researchers — John Gabrieli, the Grover Hermann Professor of Health Sciences and Technology, a professor of brain and cognitive sciences, and a member of MIT’s McGovern Institute for Brain Research; and Myriam Heiman, the Latham Family Associate Professor of Neuroscience at the Picower Institute — will separately explore the relationship between cannabis and schizophrenia.
Gabrieli, who directs the Martinos Imaging Center at MIT, will monitor any potential therapeutic value of cannabis for adults with schizophrenia using fMRI scans and behavioral studies.
“The ultimate goal is to improve brain health and wellbeing,” says Gabrieli. “And we have to make informed decisions on the way to this goal, wherever the science leads us. We need more data.”
Heiman, who is a molecular neuroscientist, will study how chronic exposure to phytocannabinoid molecules THC and CBD may alter the developmental molecular trajectories of cell types implicated in schizophrenia.
“Our lab’s research may provide insight into why several emerging lines of evidence suggest that adolescent cannabis use can be associated with adverse outcomes not seen in adults,” says Heiman.
In addition to these studies, Gabrieli also hopes to investigate whether cannabis can have therapeutic value for autism spectrum disorders, and Heiman plans to look at whether cannabis can have therapeutic value for Huntington’s disease.
MIT Institute Professor Ann Graybiel has proposed to study the cannabinoid 1 (CB1) receptor, which mediates many of the effects of cannabinoids. Her team recently found that CB1 receptors are tightly linked to dopamine — a neurotransmitter that affects both mood and motivation. Graybiel, who is also a member of the McGovern Institute, will examine how CB1 receptors in the striatum, a deep brain structure implicated in learning and habit formation, may influence dopamine release in the brain. These findings will be important for understanding the effects of cannabis on casual users, as well as its relationship to addictive states and neuropsychiatric disorders.
Earl Miller, Picower Professor of Neuroscience at the Picower Institute, will study effects of cannabinoids on both attention and working memory. His lab has recently formulated a model of working memory and unlocked how anesthetics reduce consciousness, showing in both cases a key role in the brain’s frontal cortex for brain rhythms, or the synchronous firing of neurons. He will observe how these rhythms may be affected by cannabis use — findings that may be able to shed light on tasks like driving where maintenance of attention is especially crucial.
Harvard Medical School: Mobilizing basic scientists and clinicians to solve an acute biomedical challenge
The Broderick gift provides $4.5 million to establish the Charles R. Broderick Phytocannabinoid Research Initiative at Harvard Medical School, funding basic, translational and clinical research across the HMS community to generate fundamental insights about the effects of cannabinoids on brain function, various organ systems, and overall health.
The research initiative will span basic science and clinical disciplines, ranging from neurobiology and immunology to psychiatry and neurology, taking advantage of the combined expertise of some 30 basic scientists and clinicians across the school and its affiliated hospitals.
The epicenter of these research efforts will be the Department of Neurobiology under the leadership of Bruce Bean and Wade Regehr.
“I am excited by Bob’s commitment to cannabinoid science,” says Regehr, professor of neurobiology in the Blavatnik Institute at Harvard Medical School. “The research efforts enabled by Bob’s vision set the stage for unraveling some of the most confounding mysteries of cannabinoids and their effects on the brain and various organ systems.”
Bean, Regehr, and fellow neurobiologists Rachel Wilson and Bernardo Sabatini, for example, focus on understanding the basic biology of the cannabinoid system, which includes hundreds of plant and synthetic compounds as well as naturally occurring cannabinoids made in the brain.
Cannabinoid compounds activate a variety of brain receptors, and the downstream biological effects of this activation are astoundingly complex, varying by age and sex, and complicated by a person’s physiologic condition and overall health. This complexity and high degree of variability in individual biology has hampered scientific understanding of the positive and negative effects of cannabis on the human body. Bean, Regehr, and colleagues have already made critical insights showing how cannabinoids influence cell-to-cell communication in the brain.
“Even though cannabis products are now widely available, and some used clinically, we still understand remarkably little about how they influence brain function and neuronal circuits in the brain,” says Bean, the Robert Winthrop Professor of Neurobiology in the Blavatnik Institute at HMS. “This gift will allow us to conduct critical research into the neurobiology of cannabinoids, which may ultimately inform new approaches for the treatment of pain, epilepsy, sleep and mood disorders, and more.”
To propel research findings from lab to clinic, basic scientists from HMS will partner with clinicians from Harvard-affiliated hospitals, bringing together clinicians and scientists from disciplines including cardiology, vascular medicine, neurology, and immunology in an effort to glean a deeper and more nuanced understanding of cannabinoids’ effects on various organ systems and the body as a whole, rather than just on isolated organs.
For example, Bean and colleague Gary Yellen, who are studying the mechanisms of action of antiepileptic drugs, have become interested in the effects of cannabinoids on epilepsy, an interest they share with Elizabeth Thiele, director of the pediatric epilepsy program at Massachusetts General Hospital. Thiele is a pioneer in the use of cannabidiol for the treatment of drug-resistant forms of epilepsy. Despite proven clinical efficacy and recent FDA approval for rare childhood epilepsies, researchers still do not know exactly how cannabidiol quiets the misfiring brain cells of patients with the seizure disorder. Understanding its mechanism of action could help in developing new agents for treating other forms of epilepsy and other neurologic disorders.

In regards to the moodboards for fills, does "represents An hours work" include collecting the images?
The idea is to make sure you’re putting time and effort into whatever you’re making. An hour’s work was meant to be a guide based on how long a drabble or a completed sketch might take. If you’re putting effort into what you’re doing, generally the editing process itself takes an hour+ (at least from my experience). If you are capable of finding suitable images and editing them into a mood board in under an hour, good on ya. Just try make sure you’re putting effort into it and not just slapping something together to fill a square. That’s no fun for anyone, the creator included.
I am also going to answer your second question here also so that the blog isn’t spammed with ask question/answers.
Other than the obvious of the board fitting the prompt, is there any requirement for including images of wade/peter themselves in it?
It needs to be obvious that’s it’s Spideypool. However you want to do that is up to you, as long as someone could see the board and know without having to be told in a caption or tagthat it’s meant to be about Wade Wilson and Peter Parker and not two generic random people.
I hope that helps! If you have further questions or are still unsure, please send me an email or dm. Anons cannot be answered privately, and I’d rather not do back-and-forth conversations publicly on the blog. Thank you!

What to Watch This Month: The Best SFF Movies & TV in May
It hardly feels like we're just now getting into the summer blockbuster season, seeing how we've already had a couple of massive blockbusters thanks to the unstoppable, uh... marvel that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe! But it's May, which means summer is coming. Get your popcorn ready!
On the big blockbustery front this month: Deadpool 2, hopefully bringing even more of the snarky, wise-cracking, ass-kicking, potty-mouthed comic book hilarity we all loved so much in the first one. And for Star Wars lovers everywhere, Han Solo finally gets his own movie (but not until the end of the month, instead of the obvious May the 4th, which was a missed opportunity if you ask me).
As for smaller screens, if you're into a post-apocalyptic dystopian vibe, you're in luck! This week brings Netflix original The Rain, a Danish post-apocalyptic import, as well as the season 3 return of Colony, USA's alien invasion drama set in a dystopian LA. I'm most excited for later in the month when HBO brings us its adaptation of Ray Bradbury's iconic novel Fahrenheit 451, starring some of the best Michaels in Hollywood right now: Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon.
Here are the best SFF movies & shows to check out this month on screens big and small...
On the big screen:
The Cleanse (May 4)
Johnny Galecki (TV's Big Bang Theory) plays Paul Berger, an unemployed, down and out, heartbroken man searching for happiness. When Paul sees an ad for a spiritual retreat promising to restart your life, he immediately signs up, hoping to cleanse himself and fix his broken life. But after only a few days, he discovers the cleanse is releasing more than just everyday toxins... a lot more. A darkly humorous, weird, and soulful fantasy that examines the inner demons in all of us. Also starring Anna Friel, Oliver Platt and Anjelica Huston.
Watch this if you... are in the mood for an offbeat, sweetly funny, lowkey kind of horror film; like Johnny Galecki, Angelica Huston or Oliver Platt; want to see a unique take on releasing one's "inner demons".
Higher Power (May 11)
When the Universe decides what it wants, it's pointless to resist. With his family's life at stake, Joseph Steadman finds himself the unwilling test subject of a maniacal scientist in a battle that could save the world, or destroy it. Starring Ron Eldard.
Watch this if you... want to see a sci-fi thriller featuring striking superpowers that looks like a big blockbuster, but is actually a low-budget indie film made on a shoestring budget.
Deadpool 2 (May 18)
After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Miami's hottest bartender, while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor - finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World's Best Lover. [side note: this synopsis is hilarious]
Watch this if you... loved the first Deadpool and can't wait for more of that snarky fun; can't get enough of villainous Josh Brolin for whatever reason; saw Avengers: Infinity War and really just need a lighter comic book movie (and possibly a hug) to cheer you up.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25)
Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga's most unlikely heroes. Directed by Ron Howard. Starring Aldren Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover.
Watch this if you... love all things Star Wars (I mean, duh, as if that's not a given); have always been Team Solo (or even Team Chewie) and want to see how the iconic Han Solo came to be.
On smaller screens:
Colony (May 2 on USA | TV Show)
In the wake of a mysterious alien invasion, a family fights to stay together in a new world order.
Watch this if you... love dystopian or alien invasion stories; love Sawy... I mean, Josh Holloway from Lost (sorry, but he'll always be Sawyer to me).
The Rain (May 4 on Netflix | TV Show)
Netflix's Danish import about siblings who emerge from the safety of their bunker six years after a rain-carried virus wipes out almost everyone in Scandinavia; they join a group of survivors and set out on a dangerous quest through the abandoned land, searching for signs of life.
Watch this if you... love post-apocalyptic stories; enjoyed Netflix's other imported show, Dark; don't mind watching shows with either dubbed English or subtitles.
Cargo (May 18 on Netflix | Movie)
Stranded in rural Australia in the aftermath of a violent pandemic, an infected father desperately searches for a new home for his infant child and a means to protect her from his own changing nature.
Watch this if you... are in the mood for a lowkey horror survival movie; want to see Martin Freeman do something a little different; love thoughtful zombie movies that are more about human connection than the guts and gore of the undead.
Fahrenheit 451 (May 19 on HBO | Movie)
In a future society where books are banned and burned, a fireman begins to read in secret and discovers an underground rebellion committed to protecting literature.
Watch this if you... loved the book and want to see HBO's modern take on this iconic classic; love thought-provoking dystopian fiction in general; are a fan of either Michael Shannon or Michael B. Jordan and want to see them show off their acting chops in this Cannes Film Festival entry.
