Sept. 27 (UPI) -- A New York aquarium came to the rescue of a rare blue lobster spotted hanging out with the standard-color crustaceans in a supermarket's tank.

Danielle Morales said she was at Market 32 in Clifton Park with her young sons, Parker, 4, and Zachary, 3, when the boys insisted on visiting the lobster tank.

"We were walking and we went up to the tank and Parker goes, 'Hey! That one is blue!' And I thought, wow. That's weird. And I took a picture of it," Morales told WRGB-TV.

Morales opened Facebook on her phone and messaged the Via Aquarium in Schenectady.

"Once we contacted the aquarium and had the momentum, I went up to the counter and was like, 'Hey. The aquarium is going to call you. You might not want to sell that one," Morales said.

The young boys initially named the lobster Bluey after the popular cartoon character, but when they found out the sea creature was male, they changed his name to Bandit -- the animated dog's equally blue dad.

Via Aquarium officials collected Bandit from the store and said he is currently in quarantine and will join the rest of the facility's lobsters in October.

Rare lobster colors are often caused by a genetic mutation that can cause them to sport hues including orange, blue and white. An orange lobster at the University of New England recently hatched a clutch of eggs, and dozens of the babies share her rare coloration.

Cassidy Livingston of Via Aquarium said officials believe Bandit's color might be more based around his diet, as he is a darker shade of blue than some other blue lobsters that have been found.

"We're thinking it's possibly because of diet in this case," Livingston said. "There's also a chance that he got more blue in color because of what he's eating. Like, if they're eating a lot of shrimp, that can cause color changes."

something I’ve seen in various fandoms now is young artists will draw flip phones with cracked screens. But in my experience, I have never met someone whose flip phone had a screen crack. Those screens were more like something on a calculator or a nintendo ds than like a smartphone. I was a klutz, and my first phone broke because the front half and back half came apart. Like you’d mayyyyybe see it on some of the later flip phones that only had large screens on the front because smartphones had already made them popular, but it was still way more rare.

If you wanna give a character a flip phone and show they’re clumsy, they’re more likely to have the paint scratched like hell or parts of the plastic chipped off. No more phone charms because the plastic loop broke. If the screen is broken, it would sooner not turn on anymore before the screen would have a crack in it.

Feel-Good Friday: 5-Year-Old Who Saved His Neighbors in a House Fire Earns Worthy Hero's Reward

This week's Feel-Good Friday is about good neighbors... and finding heroes in the most unlikely of places. During Halloween week in Mechanicville, New York, a quick thinking, 5-year-old boy saved a family from almost certain death:

Friday night began as a typical one for Zach Bashford and his family. Zach was up late playing video games, eventually falling asleep on the couch. Before suddenly, his son Bennett woke him up, and the night became one like no other. 

Zach Bradford related their story to Albany's CBS affiliate, WRGB: 

I wake up to him going, "Daddy, daddy, oh no...it’s a fire. Daddy wake up we got to help the people...the house is on fire." Bennett, a 5 year old recently diagnosed with autism, sprung his father into action. Zach called the police and began banging on his neighbors door.

Bradford said he went into panic mode as the entire front porch became engulfed in flames. Miraculously, because of his sounding the alarm, his neighbors—the Gleeson family and their pets—were able to exit the building safely: 

"For Bennett to be so smart at his age and wake up his dad, that's amazing," said Dana Gleeson.

As WRGB reported, things could not have worked out better. Neither the neighbors nor their furry family members were injured by the blaze.

The Hemstreet Park Fire Chief, George Conover, weighed in on the Bradford's bravery and quick thinking, and praising dad Zach as a hero too:

"The boy and the father are a hero in my view. If it wasn’t for them, these people may have not made it out of the building.”

He added that there was another reason the neighboring family was lucky to survive—and it serves as a helpful reminder to all of us:

Conover says the fire department wasn't sure if the smoke alarms went off or not and emphasizes to make sure that all check monthly smoke and C O alarms.

Fast forward by two weeks. Little Bennett Bradford has now been given a hero's reward by Fire Chief Conover: his own toy fire truck and a hat.

Bennett looks like he is having a good time, and what a well-deserved gift. Imagine what this event will do to shape this young boy's view of himself and his place in the world. Zach Bradford obviously modeled these traits to his son, by his response to his son's call for action, and led by example in charging into the fray to help save his neighbors. While the Gleeson family will have to rebuild their home, they are alive today thanks to their good neighbors.
