Another beautiful morning
ruined by me

The sketches I managed to do the other day at the beach (see my previous post). Ayumi asked me what I was drawing (second slide). Amy for my AU comic! I did what I could tho!
Very close to finish a children’s book for a client! Thanks for your patience! I’ll be back posting my comics soon ❤️

<<< Reblog what you did/will do today, and what you are looking forward to tomorrow!! >>>
I started the day by going to church with my family. It was a great meeting. I particularly love singing and playing the piano at church.
Then I made lunch for the family and left everyone else home to play while I went back to the hospital. I haven’t had any deliveries today, but I had to check on the mamas I delivered yesterday.
Once I got back home, I took a walk for 30 minutes around my neighborhood while I talked to my sister on the phone.
Then the kids and I tidied up the house and played several rounds of Racko.
Since the weather is nice, I shooed the kids outside after that while I made dinner.
Now that the kitchen is clean (post dinner), I’m taking an hour break to get some writing and editing done.
Then we’ll have a double chocolate cake I made earlier for dessert.
Then I’ll put the kids to bed and write some more as long as I don’t get called back to the hospital again.
That’s a pretty standard Sunday at our house.
Tomorrow the kids all go to school, and I have the day off. So I’ll be doing 7-10 loads of laundry, gardening, shopping, meal prepping, and homework helping, which is a standard Monday at our house. Plus I’m going to be attending an online workshop on parenting kids with ADHD. If I’m lucky I’ll find some time to write, too.
I don’t know if anyone finds this interesting, but if you want to share, please do!

**Edited to add. I jinxed myself! Within an hour of posting this I got called in to deliver a baby. Haha.**

Home office views vs in-office views — not sure which ones I like better 😏
My home office has been decked out with some beautiful plants and a new accent rug. I just have to order & frame some photos for the wall above the couch and I think it’s about done. I’m loving this little space at home that’s just mine. Too, having the treadmill in my work space has transformed my daily habits. I’ve been working out a lot more than usual and eating much better as a result. If the scale could just budge a bit more, that’d be great.
This week I commuted into the office twice and it wasn’t as tough as I expected. I’m actually enjoying getting out of the house, having some quiet time to myself on the train, and interacting with my colleagues in person. Twice a week seems doable for now. It’s also nice wearing something other than leggings and a nursing tee. I really need to find some good bras though.
I’ve managed to wean my supply so that I don’t need to pump during the day but I still have plenty of milk for the baby at bedtime, overnight if needed, and in the morning. I didn’t think I would be able to accomplish that — when I was exclusively breastfeeding, it seemed crazy to think I could go all day without nursing/pumping and still have a supply at night — but here we are. The further along I get in my bf journey this time around, the more proud of myself I am.
Work has asked if I can travel internationally over the next few months and my gut instinct was to say yes, although I’m rethinking the breastfeeding aspect of that. I’m lucky that my boss is flexible and she wants me to do what’s best for me. So, I’m still mulling it over. We’ll see.
The kids are adjusting to me being away twice a week pretty well, better than anticipated. My MIL has been helping out whenever she’s not working — in the mornings Monday through Thursday and then Friday all day. No more big bumps in the road as far as she’s concerned. Fingers crossed it’s smoother sailing here on out. I’m still working on mending our somewhat strained relationship. It’ll take time.
The bird obsession continues to ramp up. Spring migration is almost upon us y’all, and I’m PUMPED. I was out back doing a happy dance while watching a flock of common grackles and red winged blackbirds in the yard the other morning. I guess this is life now? 🐦⬛🐦⬛😅

Nothing quite like telling your boss that the reason you are "under the weather" is because your depression is debilitating and you would rather cry at your desk at home than your desk at work 👍🏻

SDS, Monday. A few nice mutuals ask for selfies.
I'm in struggle mode and hanging on for dear life. I need the end of the year shutdown to recover.

Playing around with the cover design. The red copy is with all seasons of the Little Office in one book. The green, purple and white/gold are for each liturgical season.
Printing one book would be the most economical, but it would also make it thicker. I plan to have the Little Office laid out with Gregorian chant and side by side Latin & English so there are no page flips.
This takes some more thought and also more pages!
My favorite layout and first Little Office was from the Caritas Publishing edition. It has beautiful illuminated gold foil. No page flipping was what I enjoyed the most from it.
I also have the Baronius Press edition, but the Gregorian chant is in its own little section and doesn't feel complete so it's extremely difficult to use for someone new to the office and even worse for someone new to Gregorian chant. Way too much page flipping!
My favorite Gregorian chant version of the Little Office is from the 1893 publication by Solesmes. The chants are so well laid out, but there is some flipping here and there for things like the little hours.
That's where I've been making my own version so that it has the no flipping layout like the Caritas Publishing version but also the chants from the Solesmes.
If finding a vendor to make the super pretty faux leather version with gilt edges doesn't work out, I think I will go with the pocket book size publication from either Lulu or Mixam. Lulu doesn't offer ribbon bookmarks, but Mixam does!
Gotta help the preschooler cut paper plates so more on this later!

I am supposed to go on a work trip tomorrow. To a different state. This has meant juggling my whole schedule (overnight childcare and dog care required).
When I purchased tickets last week they were double what they normally are — our company has really tightened the budget so I immediately emailed my manager — shared tickets were far more expensive than normal, explained that I had purchased refundable tickets just so they wouldn’t sell out, and asked if I should bow out of the meeting. This wouldn’t be a huge deal as we have another staff member who is local to the meeting and already planning on attending.
Crickets
I emailed again this morning at 9am on the same chain — just bringing this back to the top of your inbox, please let me know, what did business manager say, etc.
Crickets
We were supposed to have a meeting this afternoon so I decided I’d ask them. Manager no-showed
I pinged again on Slack at 2pm — hi, please see email from this AM (ahem technically last week) is this amount approved? I can only refund through EOD. (The manager is active on Slack)
NOTHING
I have since had to confirm childcare and my dog walker. Not to mention I’m confirmed for the actual meeting. Frankly I don’t care if I go, I don’t even really want to go (it’s a 5 hour trip there and back so I’ll need to leave at 6am and not get home until midnight)
Do I start calling personal cellphones? Can I flag for the supervisor at this point?

I’m working from home again today. It’s Cayden’s week with his dad but he doesn’t have anywhere to go during the day today so.
My plan for work today was to mail out a bunch of stuff, which I obviously can’t do from home. So I’m having to pivot and find other things to work on.
