The “he” she refers to in the song is harry, but the “you” is another person, who she was privately dating. Is It Over Now:

also talking about an on and off relationship, in which she kept wondering if they were over or not. taylor and harry only dated for two or three months, how can they fell apart and came back together over and over again?! It’s very Out Of The Woods and Style coded, and so it’s about dianna.

I know “when you lost control. red blood, white snow” is a reference to their snowmobile accident, also mentioned in Out Of The Woods, but personally I think that song is about the pain of bearding and not being able to be with the one she truly loved (dianna). So in Out Of The Woods she’s talking to harry, but it’s more like “are we out of this faking pretending painful relationship?” And maybe when the accident happened, with the sun coming up and them looking at each other, they realized they didn’t want to do it anymore, it wasn’t worth it, so they decided to set each other free.

Red/1989 and typewriters

Since TTPD was released and Taylor mentioning the muse leaving a typewriter in her apartment everyone has gone down a typewriter rabbit hole. @foxes-that-run has a post about how Taylor has been teasing typewriters since the Red TV era.

But it has recently been brought to my attention by @wedontknowherorhimorthem that Taylor uses the typewriter font in the 1989 and 1989 TV lyrics booklet.

She doesn’t use this font on any other album. So why 1989?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you know that Harry is the muse for all of 1989 except Bad Blood. The 1989 secret message was one cohesive story, where the other secret messages on other albums were for different muses. My theory is since Taylor was easter egging typewriters during Red TV maybe that’s when she started to use one when writing and we know Harry was around then since at least half of Red is about him. Maybe Harry started using one then also. Harry has always took interest in his partner’s interest.(books, movies, music) We know he does use a typewriter to write some things. In Apple Behind the Album we see him use a typewriter to write his song Woman.

@foxes-that-run points out in her post that lots of writers like to use typewriters when they write. Its just some don’t boast about it like some artist do (*cough Ratty). So did Taylor and Harry write songs together on a typewriter during this time? We definitely know the did write a couple of songs together with Jackknife Lee. He confirmed this.

"It was out of my field of expertise and interest, but I was intrigued and my girls were thrilled. Taylor was nice and very professional. She knew what she wanted and there was no fucking about. She was seeing Harry Styles at the time, so he came to Topanga on her recommendation. She wrote a few songs with him, and it was the same thing - quick. So in conclusion it sounds like typewriters might go all the way back to the Red/1989 era.

I mean there are some lyrics that points to that which alludes her other songs which are written about HS.

Now, these next two are a bit far-fetched (I say "far-fetched" but I do think they parallel each other) but in the haylor fandom, august and labyrinth are both assumed to be songs about haylor.

This part of the song parallels the lyrics to these two songs:

Like in labyrinth, girlie pop is already saying the same thing where in one little thing can make her fall back in love with this man all over again. ALSO, PLANES, them paper airplanes. It's like a haylor staple.

Up next, we have this part of the song. It's basically her having "clandestine meetings" with her "illicit affairs" lover. Also, again with August.

Like if we lean into the "folklore and evermore are just stories Taylor made up in her head," and the albums just being her ways of escapism, then I do say that this is her imaging things that never happened, thus:

A Partial Haylor Relationship Timeline (In My Head)

I was listening to 1989 a few days ago and, as I do, I stumbled down a Haylor rabbit hole.

While I think my reference points are logical, much of this is, of course, speculation, so continue only if that’s your bag:

My jumping off point was this thought: “Hmm…is Wonderland about the rumored fight in Virgin Gorda in January 2013?”

So, we went on our way

Too in love to think straight

All alone, or so it seemed

But there were strangers watchin'

And whispers turned to talkin'

And talking turned to screams

…

I reached for you, but you were gone

I knew I had to go back home

You searched the world for somethin' else

To make you feel like what we had

And in the end, in Wonderland, we both went mad

Now I’m thinking the “long six months” referenced in “How You Get the Girl” was between January 2013 and June 2013. And when they got back together in June, they decided to keep their relationship out of the public eye, because that had been a point of tension.

(Side note: I’ve seen it referenced on a wiki, but without citation that I’ve found, that Taylor wrote and recorded HYGTG in January 2013; however, according to her, she didn’t start working on 1989 until around April 2013, during the Red tour).

So perhaps they’re together in secret though the summer but, by the fall, she needs some space and is maybe cracking under the pressure of all the secrecy (“I don’t want to keep secrets just to keep you”). So they take a break. He goes out with Kendall in late November.

Yet, in December, Harry tweets the lyrics “better still, be my winding wheel” on Taylor’s birthday.

But word spreads in January 2014 that they’re meeting up on the down-low in Malibu. (It was later confirmed by Courteney Cox that several of those hangs were at her house…man, they’re all so cool).

In February, they’re spotted hanging out with Ed in London.

Later that month, Harry writes “Just a Little Bit of Your Heart.” Two days later, Taylor writes “I Know Places.”

She later told GLAM in 2015, “[IKP] is a song about how other people will really ruin a relationship if they get a chance to and how it might be the best way to go about starting a relationship is to keep it a secret if possible just because it’s very fragile.”

They potentially take another break around this time, as Taylor writes “Clean” on February 9…but then she writes “Style” 10 days later, lol. So “Clean” is either not about Harry or she’s clearly not totally over him/ruling out getting back together someday.

(Side note: the whole “10 months sober” line in Clean confuses me, because if it was Harry-related, then that would place their break up in April 2013, which just doesn’t line up with anything I have seen. Thoughts?)

In March, Harry writes “I Love You.”

Another summer of them maybe being together in secret — maybe on-and-off or not exclusive —goes by, and it seems like they call it off for real again when, in August, Harry writes “Not Our Fault” with Gavin DeGraw.

Gavin says, “[The song] is about...if it doesn't work out sometimes you can't necessarily just blame it on yourselves, you know, sometimes it's what's going on around you. Sometimes it's other things that have nothing to do with the two people involved, those factors that you can't control. It touches on that type of subject. It’s a way of saying you're giving up, but it's not necessarily you're giving up because you don't love each other."

In November 2014, at the American Music Awards, Harry is super supportive of Taylor and 1989 and whistles as she receives an award.

In December, they party together after the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

In January 2015, they both go to a friend’s birthday party and out to a diner afterwards.

At some point, on his birthday, he makes her cry. While I can’t be sure of the exact year, because it’s a reference in the unreleased and later leaked “Hunger” song, the song also says, “as one year turns into two, I’m still not over you.” If it was two years since they fully ended in February 2015, they’d put us in February 2017. And HS1 came out in May 2017, so the timing works out.

Also, this birthday fight could be what causes her to wash her hands of them in the club, picture him with other girls in love and throw up on the street (“Hits Different”).

A week after his birthday, February 7, 1D starts their final tour. Later that month, Taylor meets Calvin and they start dating in late March.

She also maybe records “So It Goes…” in early March. I know there’s debate about the timing of this song’s creation, but if Oscar Görres (who wrote the instrumental) had his second child (born Sept. 17, 2017) the day they finished it, it wouldn’t have been done on time to make the Nov. 10, 2017 Reputation album release date (it’s typically 3-4 months of prep after the masters are done). She was also seen going into a studio on March 2, 2015 (per his retelling, Görres was at home when Taylor and Shellback were in the studio finishing the track and talked to them by phone).

In May the 2015 Billboard Music Awards Exile/Woman debacle goes down. Sad face.

In August 2015, Harry writes “Someday.”

And that’s all she wrote…well, kind of.

As we all know, they’re friendly after this, appearing at award shows, attending Ed’s wedding, and still talking about each other in the media with nothing but warmth and respect.

They, famously, date other people.

But they also continue to write about each other, more than a dozen songs between them, as recently as 2022.

And now, in June 2023, I’m just manifesting that “someday” is soon.

How did you guys do it

A few days after the re release of 1989 TV. I randomly watched a YT short explaining how the target track " Wonderland" is about Harry Styles. Before this I was never interested in any of the stories of Taylor's bfs, like I only listen to her because of the songs. LOL, I was never a swiftie, I only listen to singles and I kinda stop listening after Lover since I don't feel relate to her songs anymore. But then the whole YT short happen and suddenly I trace every evidence possible about these two through their songs. BTW I lived through the OG RED and 1989 and I even used to hate Harry since he broke her heart or sthg bla bla idk just some dumb tabloid I read back then. Anyway that's how I turned myself into a Haylor truther and a Swiftie and a Harrie :)))

Lately all of my belief in Haylor got shattered since everything I thought was the Haylore turn into Maylore ewwww can't believe I was able to type that. The idea makes me sick physically and mentally. That's insane really, ughhh

Look if Disney insists on making a princess and the frog remake (which they will, mark my words) allow me to pitch the one thing that will save this movie. Practical effects.

I am a firm believer that if this movie stays as far away from cgi frogs and crocodiles as it can they will have a much better movie. Like can you imagine jem henson style frogs on a jim henson style swamp. Or at the very lest have puppets as your starting point and work over them. Big CGI projects feel so far off to me, like the 'live action' lion king. I kind of broke my heart that there was nothing there. A real swamp with real living breathing (I've met puppeteers trust me these things breathe) characters, to me, is just so much coziers than a lifeless computer generated melty faced blob.

And can you imagine Doctor Facilier's song (it's been a minute since I've seen this thing) done with practical effects. Think of things like matilda. You can acheive so much with wires and magnets and hidden stuff. And i mean compare the chalk scene in matilda vs the musical film. When watching films that utilise practical effects (star wars, early harry potter, matilda) to their fullest potential, not only do you get a more realistic experience, you can feel the problem solving happening behind the screen. You get to ask yourself 'how did they do that?' and the answer isn't just, it was never real in the first place.

"But won't kids know that they're puppets. Don't you want things to look real."

Look as a child, I did not believe that Kermit the frog, or those henchmen goblins from labrynth, or Yoda were real. But just because you know something is a puppet doesn't take away from the fact that it's real. You know Yoda is a puppet and yet when watching the film you experience him as just as real as luke skywalker. And the scenes play out so much smoother because its actually there.

When you insist that everything must look as though it is in real life you're ignoring the fact that the realist thing you can do is have it exist. Understanding that kermit is felt and glue does not take away children's ability to emotionally connect with him. Sure there are no endless cgi possibilites. But I could reach out and touch kermit where i could not reach out and touch the lion king. There is an intimacy and magic in Labrynth that is not present in something like Alice in Wonderland 2010, because I see everything though the distant lense of computers.

To misquote something I heard someone say about star wars, no one kicks up any dirt any more.

TLDR: If/When disney makes their princess and the frog remake, give me puppets, give me wires, give me stuff thats really there, or give me death.

How I would rewrite the new installation of Descendants:

Rise of Red wasn't terrible so no hate, but this is something I’ve been planing since the first movie came out. This series has been a favorite of mine for ages and this is how I imagined the series continuing.

sokka: ok, sokka is one of those fans who you don't realise are that intense until they are screaming themselves hoarse at folklore, mkay? I'm talking, it's not just hakoda and bato giving him the worried side-eye, it's everyone AND their mother (well, not everyone's mother but ya know) cause like, sokka was DEF involved in this major college cheating scandal and got his heart uber uber broken and had no support system because he just... didn't tell anyone because he didn't want people to worry and so screaming folklore is his therapy session. oh, and when he was dating yue their album was speak now, they literally did their homecoming king and queen dance to "enchanted" they were that couple, and he still loves the album so much but he just... can't speak for hours after a folklore song pops up, and couldn't speak for a week after the eras tour (in a similar vein, he's a big "the archer" fan, he and toph vibe with it so hard)

toph: she loves reputation (NOT for the same reasons as katara and zuko but they all still vibe with each other) because there's soooo much happening and she can literally feel the beat in her bones and the songs slap so hard and she can rage in peace :))) also she fucks so hard with "picture to burn", the harry styles saga (style, ootw, iion, wonderland, etc), "holy ground", "miss americana and the heartbreak prince" and "the archer" (and believe me she will go OFF at anyone who doesn't like the archer because "the beat's not supposed to drop, that's the whole point -)

zuko: reputation reputation reputation. all the fucking way y'all. is it shocking that "I did something bad" is his song, not his favourite (his favourites are the speak now vault tracks, "that's the way I loved you", "message in a bottle", and "wonderland" but that's neither here nor there) and no one, NO ONE gets in the way during the line "if a man talks shit then I owe him nothing" like sorry taylor, that's zuko's line actually. also he thought he was going to love folklore but then "seven" came up and he literally could not cope, and when he heard evermore was going to be in a similar vein he refused to listen to it too - he did eventually listen to the albums when he got into a better headspace for them and now really does likes them, but he avoids "seven" like the plague

suki: suki loves the breakup albums, red and midnights, and everyone, including suki, is confused because no offence to my girl but she's had one break up and that was with sokka, and whole it was sad, it was mutual and nothing bad happened they just decided they'd be better as friends, but she loves the albums so so much, so who is anyone to deny her that? also, she didn't like "me!" at first and thought it was so so cringe, but now she loves it and hates that she used to hate it and hates that taylor doesn't play it on the set list at concerts due to people hating on it (even though suki would never tell taylor that she hated on one of her songs, she still feels guilty) - btw, she and aang are besties and they work at the same place and it takes them like forty minutes on a good day to drive there so they blast 1989 the whole time and it's such a bop

yue: speak now girly, did I fucking stutter? she ate that album up when it first came out and she ate up the rerecording when that came out too, and don't get me started on the vault tracks (she feels as if a piece of her childhood was missing because "electric touch" ft fallout boy wasn't on the og track and she looooves fallout boy) "enchanted" is her and sokkas song and when it comes on they do a lil dance together even though they don't love each other in the same way anymore, they still love each other!!! but she now loves "enchanted" separate from sokka ya know? yue also loves midnights, literally because suki loves it so so much so yue listened to it for her (simp) and fell in love with it (and suki, it was truly a win win situation for her) but she specifically listens to midnights: 3am version because "paris" is her favourite and she doesn't understand how anyone (ahem, suki) could listen to midnights without listening to "paris" at least three times

mai: fearless, and HEAR ME OUT HEAR ME TBE FUCK OUT I'm right. she's like aang in this regard, she grew up with all these expectations on her for corporation alliances and shit and she couldn't help but picture herself finding love for HERSELF having the CHOICE like, she will defend "love story" to the day she dies because it resonated so much with baby mai finding love against all odds and at the end her parents agreeing to it. now she's older and recognises a few, uh... interesting points about her upbringing, but she's still gonna defend baby mai's love for fearless. I know that the tortured poets department hasn't come out yet but... I have a feeling that mai will fuck SO HARD with that one too, but she's more a fan on individual songs than whole albums ("delicate", "paper rings" (ty lee simp lmao), "seven", "better than revenge", "getaway car", "endgame", etc)

Niceboy Ed

I think the most likely theory is that Taylor is Niceboy Ed and it is using it to announce/promote the re-records. Before 1989 TV it used the 1989 TV colours, referred to events in the 1989 era (Kentish Town, polaroids) and the ice cream emoji 🍦like the this photo.

The provided explanation is that Niceboy Ed is a friend of Joe's, but frankly that makes no sense at all. Especially now 2 years have passed and nothing came of a pretty successful campaign for a Sony artist. Taylor has met a lot of people who want to be famous that aren't (see The 1975 in 2014😂) yet never helped them like this.

16 September 2022 - A Joe stan account (no, really! 😂) posted to Twitter that Niceboy ed was a friend of Joe's, where they got this info??? The account kept posting about Joe until a month after the break up, so it seems likely it was connected to Taylors team.

17 September 2022 - The same account posted an explanation where they said he was part of Joe's 'frosty crew' and posted a much since shared photo of Joe with some guy as 'proof':

19 September 2022 - Taylor used the Niceboy Ed sound of Life you Lead in the 'Making midnights' Tiktok., then liked 100+ posts using the sound, she wanted us to all notice the sound. I am not aware of Taylor using someone else's music to post before, (especially to promote hers!) It's 15 seconds long, it was the perfect opportunity for a snippet of the upcoming album. I don't believe Taylor would do that to promote anyone, especially not an unknown artist that was friends with or was her boyfriend. At this time people were already speculating they were ending, if not already broken up from. The YLM date and TTPD has supported that they were not on good terms at that time. This was a year before 1989 TV was announced, but we don't know when Niceboy Ed actually started. The lyrics hint at Taylors re-records:

24 September 2022 - Niceboy ed posted to Instagram soft yellow posts with a blond baby boy promoting Life you Lead (1/3) hinting that there would be 3 songs/posts, and there now are

4 October 2022 - Niceboy ed went live with a soft pink screen and posted that Heaven would be 2/3. The songcredits only refer to Niceboy Ed and music is copyright Niceboy Ed and no label or licensing deal.. the way Taylor Swift appears.

5 October 2022 - Niceboy ed's first 2 songs are on Spotify and the lyrics seem to reference Taylors masters. The Spotify visuals are a field and a train line in Kentish town.

On Google Maps you can see that the photo posted looks to have been taken at the rail overpass and across the road in 2022 was a bar called "the Rabbit Hole" (right black awning here) which may be a longbow, but given the amount of 1989 vibes from Niceboy Ed I associate this with Wonderland. Kentish Town is also home to Kenish Kebabs that appears in End Game, the owner said that it was "a certain ex boyfriend lived nearby", that quote (and the music video) were during her relationship with Joe, he is not the Ex. The kebab shop is similar to one in the 1D Midnight Memories MV and the area is both near Harry's current home and where he and Ed Sheeran couch surfed with the 1D guitarist in Tufnell Park while Harry dated Taylor. (Joe also grew up in Tufnell Park)
