jk, I don't usually check them that often it was just bc the streams per listener and increasing number of streams for Montana were insane bc of being put on loop so I was curious edit: this is different from elliotly stuff which I can't really do detective work for bc there are too many people

#tho i dont think that's bc of you #I can tell from like amt of streams during a certain timezone time but also streams per location-ish #its only bc Spotify also shows like. streams per listener and btwn you and the other person the streams per listener for Montana #are steadily growing but not the total amt of listeners etc #live analytics only happen for albums when they've been just released so I was checking the live numbers p frequently #and watching the Montana one climb like That's not normal. So this is not to comment on either side of the Marina vs Penelope/Lady Whistledown argument. That would be an extremely long and detailed rant that I might do later. I will say that both Ruby Barker and Nicola Coughlan seem wonderful and I have nothing negative to say about either of them (and wish to hear nothing negative of either)! This is simply because the antis are ramping up again and I keep coming across a certain video. There is one phrase people have been quoting and I cannot keep myself from saying this anymore. You are all incorrect because you can, in fact, "Disneyfy a Dichhead". *Murder, Kidnapping, Manipulation/Mind Control,Torture even Sexual Assault have all forgiven and sometimes, at least seemingly, forgotten. The worst villans have been given a redemption arc and considered good or even heroic by the end and it all started with a new look and Tale of True Love.

Whats truly insane is that It Worked! It worked so well that it ran for SEVEN season!

FOR FUCKS SAKE, It only ended 5 years ago. There was even a one season spinoff with a complete story!

And this was all done on ABC with Disney characters portrayed as adults. So maybe we're all being a little hard on the teenagers in Netflix's regency Shondaland.

today i learned that we weebs are responsible for the existence of the .ass file type. #heritage

#花話 #i actually learned this yesterday i've just been cracking myself up over the 'hashtag-heritage' thing ever since #.ass is a subtitle file btw!!! they're what make the really pretty ones with the elaborate typesetting and positioning n stuff #i always thought they did that shit by burning the fonts into the video via aftereffects or smth but it turns out #that while you could burn an ass file to a video for hardsubbing you can apparently just. like it's a text file you can use a text editor #and also turn them off when watching your stuff if you wish and god i was so surprised when i realized you could do that #with the pretty subtitles bc when using online streaming the soft subs were usually so ugly #anyway through a series of wacky hijinks i've ended up coding a subtitle file type converter these last few hours #and in looking up the standards for how .srt .ass and .vtt files are formatted i learned this gem #and you know what!!!! it makes soooo much sense #of course we weebs went off and made a file type for elaborate subtitle styling and positioning and timing #the intersection of art and technology in the weeb fan sphere is actually pretty cool!! there's niche ass software for so much shit #bc of the tendency of weebs to be into tech and stuff #in my spelunkinh around the old web i've also found a bunch of old specialized scanlation software from the 2000s!!! that's so cool!!!!#i just use a notes program and photoshop but they were out there in 2004 or so making photo editors that #could not only open up and edit multiple images in sequence you could page through but also load up your translation txt file #and i think also had specialized tools for cleaning text bubbles and stuff #and also obviously correcting scan issues and straightening things out AND THIS IS SO COOL!!!!#like we did that!! that's how things were done before i got into anime!!! back when i was a little kid; before i was even rlly sentient!!!!!

nothing annoys me more than when i make every fucking effort to watch a movie legally and either it's not on a single streaming service i pay for or it's somewhere weird like "max channels on prime" rather than just hbo max, or kanopy but not through MY library, so i fire up my vpn (legal) and check canada services (legal) and - yay! it's on plex! which definitely doesn't care about vpns since it's like bootleg adjacent anyway (not my problem). so i head over and it loads up great (legal) but vpns won't chromecast properly so it just freezes up and like yes in that case i am forced to use solarm*vies or t*rrent sorry fbi. i really tried! i really really tried!
