so. . . my idea with the feyd-rautha fic was to have the reader be paul's twin seeing as in the books the atreides' and harkonnen's were supposed to unite houses.

however, upon doing some research i can see that nearly every. single. feyd. fic. is based on that premise. i'm positive that i can do the idea some real justice, it's just that i want the readers to be pulled to my fic because of it standing out. it's going to be a series with growing tension, which i have yet to see on the feyd-rautha tag. (i've only seen oneshots, which there is nothing wrong with of course). does anyone want to put their two cents in? maybe give me some advice or ideas? i'm already a quarter way through a first chapter UGH.

i've yet to see a writer take advantage of the forced proximity! where's the one bed trope? where's the one sided love? where's the tension? it's just a lot of "they get married and fuck on their wedding day. reader doesn't want to at first but then enjoys it"- which, once again, there is nothing wrong with, but i know i can execute it in an individualistic way. which is why i'm like. . . maybe i should just stick with the same ole' premise but take it up ten notches??? helpppp!

DR2 dropping has left me more in shambles over a WIP I’ve been working on for ages than I was before

Currently working on a post-merge fic that explores Lloyd’s life in the years he was alone (because the concept fascinates me).

The chapter where he meets Arin, Sora, and Riyu is titled “Spears of Snapdragons.”

Snapdragons are allegedly symbolic of strength and graciousness (as well as deception and arrogance).

In the WIP, I made it so snapdragons represent the kids and their relationship with Lloyd but the focus is specifically on Arin.

Arin, the Spinjitzu prodigy who packs a punch with every hit.

Arin, who a knocked a sandbag off his hook because he was distracted and didn’t gauge his own strength.

Arin, who is currently at odds with his own shortcomings and caught between Lloyd’s/Egalt’s teachings about family/intelligence, love, kindness, etc and Ras’ assertion that strength is all that anyone needs.

I have the flower symbolic of strength associated with Arin and now it’s become canonically prevalent and I am scared 🙃
