Wanneer jy droom jou bril breek

Ek dra bril al vandat ek in graad ses is – dit was die jaar 2002, so dit is nou al 22 jaar wat ek nie sonder hulp kan sien nie. En dit is ʼn tweejaarlikse bederf om ʼn oogarts te kies, enkele minute aan ʼn oogtoets te spandeer, en ʼn uur of wat te spandeer om ʼn nuwe raam te kies. Die afgelope jare wat ek nie op my ouers se mediese fonds is nie, is dit ook ʼn big ticket item op die uwe se begroting. Vir een of ander rede kies ek rame wat nie goedkoop is nie, altyd hier rondom die drieduisend rand net vir die raam #huil-huilsienekbeter. Gelukkig was my een onlangse kopie ʼn kinderbril (ek wou graag ʼn pienke hê en my kop is nie breed nie, jy weet), so dit het die brilraamprysgemiddeld van die afgelope 22 jaar effens afgebring.

Daar was stadiums wat ek wel kontaklense gebruik het, maar dit was ʼn storie en ʼn half. Ek onthou een van die eerste kere wat ek kontaklense probeer insit het, het ek om en by ʼn uur gesukkel om een lens in te kry. Teen daardie tyd was ek al so van de bewe van inspanning, dat ek oorweeg het om die ander lens nie eers in te sit nie. Die langste wat ek kontaklense gebruik het, wat ek nou so vinnig aan kan dink, was vroeg in 2010 toe ek op ʼn kamp was en nie my bril wou saamvat nie. My plan was om die lense nooit uit te haal nie. Soos die noodlot dit wou hê, het die een lens al op die eerste dag geskeur toe ek hom uit wou haal. Die hele kamp was dus maar effe waserig, maar steeds lekker as ek nou so bietjie daaraan terugdink. Soms as dinge wasig genoeg is, is dit makliker om op die goeie dele te fokus.

As jy perspektief en die blote vermoë om te kan sien oorweeg, het ek onlangs begin besef word die konsep van die waarheid ook relevant: Is die waarheid ʼn ding wat privaat moet bly? Is daar waarde daarin om die waarheid van mense af weg te hou as jy glo dit sal die vrede bewaar? Is daardie vrede dan enigsins vrede? Is dit wat jy waarneem noodwendig die waarheid? Soveel mooi en interessante vrae op die vooraand van ʼn nuwe jaar. Ek weet net ek wil nie weer die droom hê waar my enigste bril breek nie, ek is dankbaar vir die perspektief wat ek tans op die lewe het. Maak nie saak watter een van die 9 brille ek besluit om op enige gegewe dag te dra nie, elkeen bring vir my ʼn ander perspektief. En al is ʼn nuwe bril altyd welkom, probeer ek maar krities bly oor wat ek te siene kry en die dinge wat my blik nie beskore is nie.

My een-ding-red-dalk-‘n-duisend vir vandag is om minder agterdogtig te wees: Daar is meer bewyse dat die lewe in jou guns saamsweer as andersom. Mag 2025 vir ons almal ʼn tydperk van koestering en deernisvolle groei wees.

okay so usually i don’t give my opinions on all the shit that goes on in this crazy ass fandom,,? i’m here to reblog memes n have a good time but i’ve seen too much to not say something about it?? so here it is!! i am updated on the Discourse and to put it lightly , i am profoundly disgusted !!! me n wasi were mutuals for a while but we never talked and i’m so thankful that we didn’t, never even realized what a lying snake she was !!

i also had no idea that she was terrorizing a lot of great people in the fandom like mercedes and sarah. @ everyone who wasi was a little bitch to i’m so sorry !! trash like her doesn’t belong here, and i’m so sorry that her and her lies were able to manipulate so many people for so long.

what’s okay: liking jake mckenzie , WHO may i remind yall is a fictional fucking video game character

what’s not okay: going absolutely crazy over people who don’t agree with u and composing a whole ass lie about your boyfriend getting cancer so people can feel bad for you , whilst also giving people shit for not liking him just because you’re a crazy bitch who needs to go outside

the long and short of it is that wasi was a crazed jake mckenzie stan who would get in fights with anyone who said something less than glowing about jake and lied having a military boyfriend (who she described to sound exactly like jake) that died from brain cancer and she used it to make people feel bad about saying bad things about jake zodbdkifbrkf
