Volvo 850 T-5 R, 1995. The high performance version of the 850 was powered by a turbocharged 2.3 litre 5 cylinder engine that made 243hp. Initially planned as a special edition model, demand was such that the production run was extended so that 6964 were made in total (saloon and estates)

Congratulations!!!! I love old Volvos, if if it wasn't clear enough yet, and as mentioned in that post I've nerded out about their shape before! There's a 90s Volvo sedan that's pretty coveted: in 1995, some Volvo engineers looked at the 850 Turbo, which with its turbo 5-cylinder was no slouch itself...

...exchanged some naughty looks, and fiddled around with it until they got the 850 T-5R, which reached 60 in seven seconds and change. For a Volvo sedan that was pretty impressive...

and attractive, too, enough to justify upping the ante by the following year, with the 850R - more powerful still (now up to 250hp, dangerously close to BMW sport version territory), now equipped with a limited slip differential for better traction and, here's a key part, also available in wagon form.

The 850 also became a motorsport legend for a very peculiar reason, but I think I can let friend of the blog @brick-enthusiast take it from here ;)

Last night at work i correctly identified a 90s era volvo sedan by the shape and the little reflective part by the door. I saw it for maybe 3 seconds as they were backing out of a parking spot and my coworker was just like "Void wtf" and I now want @things-about-cars-in-posts to infodump about 90s volvos if possible 🥺
