La casa volante (the Flying house) Castelnuovo Magra, Liguria, Italy,
It's a very particular house located in the small and picturesque village of Castelnuovo Magra, in the province of La Spezia (Italy), able to get up and down, rotate on itself and slide on rails for several meters.
This "flying" house was born from the ingenious mind of Annunzio Lagomarsini (1932-2018), a retired building contractor and naval engineer, who built it between 1987 and 1994, but it is not the only work created by his brilliant genius.
From the 2023 “Mirabilia” series by Silvia Camporesi

been saying this. More G-Star styles that are woefully unavailable:
Tumblr media
E Dungaree Pants
Tumblr media
E Para Top
Tumblr media
And the essential E Playsuit. There are many more but these are the ones I know of offhand. The Para Dress specifically is available through a reseller, but no idea on stock numbers and the reviews say it might be missing the top harness bit so who knows
once again going mad with envy that the G-Star E Para line is out of production. That shit all goes so immensely hard and my grubby little hands will never be allowed to touch it.

Early 18th (and late 17th) century fashions are so under-utilized in vampire media and I think it's a damn shame.
I don't actually think I've ever seen a single image of a vampire character in an early 18th century suit. Hardly any movies set in that era either, and hardly any historical costumers who do it. (Even my beloved gay pirate show set in 1717 takes nearly all of its 18th century looks from the second half of the century. Not enough appreciation for baroque fashion!!)
Yes I love late 18th century fashion as much as anyone, and 19th century formal suits are all very well and good, but if you want something that says old, dead, wealthy, and slightly dishevelled, then the 1690's-1730's are where it's at.
Tumblr media
(Retrato del Virrey Alencastre Noroña y Silva, Duque de Linares, ca. 1711-1723.)
There was so much dark velvet, and so many little metallic buttons & buttonholes. Blood red linings were VERY fashionable in this era, no matter what the colour of the rest of the suit was.
Tumblr media
(Johann Christoph Freiherr von Bartenstein by Martin van Meytens the Younger, 1730's.)
The slits on the front of the shirts are super low, they button only at the collar, and it's fashionable to leave most of the waistcoat unbuttoned so the shirt sticks out, as seen in the above portraits.
Tumblr media
(Portrait of Anne Louis Goislard de Montsabert, Comte de Richbourg-le-Toureil, 1734.)
Waistcoats are very long, coats are very full, and the cuffs are huge. But the sleeves are on the shorter side to show off more of that shirt, and the ruffles if it has them! Creepy undead hands with long nails would sit so nicely under those ruffles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(1720's-30's, LACMA)
Embroidery designs are huge and chunky and often full of metallic threads, and the brocade designs even bigger.
Tumblr media
(1730's, V&A, metal and silk embroidery on silk satin.)
Sometimes they did this fun thing where the coat would have contrasting cuffs made from the same fabric as the waistcoat.
Tumblr media
(Niklaus Sigmund Steiger by Johann Rudolf Huber, 1724.)
Tell me this look isn't positively made for vampires!
Tumblr media
(Portrait of Jean-Baptiste de Roll-Montpellier, 1713.)
(Yeah I am cherry-picking mostly red and black examples for this post, and there are plenty of non-vampire-y looking images from this time, but you get the idea!)
And the wrappers (at-home robes) were also cut very large, and, if you could afford it, made with incredible brocades.
Tumblr media
(Portrait of a nobleman by Giovanni Maria delle Piane, no date given but I'd guess maybe 1680's or 90's.)
Tumblr media
(Circle of Giovanni Maria delle Piane, no date given but I'd guess very late 17th or very early 18th century.)
Now that looks like a child who's been stuck at the same age for a hundred years if I ever saw one!
I don't know as much about the women's fashion from this era, but they had many equally large and elabourate things.
Tumblr media
(1730's, Museo del Traje.)
Tumblr media
(Don't believe The Met's shitty dating, this is a robe volante from probably the 1720's.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Mantua, c. 1708, The Met. No idea why they had to be that specific when they get other things wrong by entire decades but ok.)
Tumblr media
(Portrait of Duchess Colavit Piccolomini, 1690's.)
Tumblr media
(Maria van Buttinga-van Berghuys by Hermannus Collenius, 1717.)
Sometimes they also had these cute little devil horn hair curls that came down on either side of the forehead.
Tumblr media
(Viago in drag Portrait of a lady, Italian School, c. 1690.)
Enough suave Victorian vampires, I want to see Baroque ones! With huge wigs and brocade coat cuffs so big they go past the elbow!

I think I finally figured out what Astalos is supposed to be. It's a Nightjar/Swallow. The majority of its prey are Neopterans, but instead of catching them mid-air like the birds in question, it can instead use electrical pulses from its piezoelectric organs to kill and stun them in mass as it flies through the swarm, only to land and eat them once they've fallen to the ground. This might explain why Astalos is so psycho. It's constantly spending energy on its electricity to kill large amounts of prey to sustain itself and to aquire large amounts of energy to create more piezoelectricity to aquire more prey, and so it goes on and on and on. In a way similar to animals like hummingbirds and short tailed shrews, Astalos may very well be trapped in a viscous cycle of energy acquisition and high energy expenditure. I looked closely at astalos's design as well, and it has a wing shape quite reminiscent to that of nightjars, long with pointed tips, good for sustained high speed flight. I also looked at the feet, and they're pretty much an identical copy of how nightjar feet look.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s a possibility that that’s what’s going on! Although there might be some issues.
Astalos’s electrogenesis might mean it can’t fly as long as other volant wyverns. Unless it has a completely novel way of generating electricity, it’s likely it’s using modified muscle tissue. Like with all electricity generating animals, these muscle cells probably gave up their ability to contract in order to maximize electricity output. This means that Astalos effectively has less “muscle” per muscle and is weaker than other creatures of similar mass.
If this is true then it might be more energy efficient to forage on the ground by using their massive claws to sift through leaf litter. And in sunbreak one of his idle animations has him do exactly that! Astalos’s third toe is noticeably bigger than his second and fourth toes, which might be an adaptation for cursoriality. It is similar to nightjars yes, but more extreme.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thanks to @krmoaten-blog for the pics again
Male astalos also have those big knuckle duster claws that they use to brute force beat the fuck out of things, much like the males of some species of birds. These are likely an adaptation for fighting other male Astalos over mates. If male wings are more dedicated to combat than flight then they probably spend less time in the air than females (in fact a few duck species have entirely flightless males with wings dedicated exclusively for combat). This could also offer an explanation for the aggression of the Astalos we fight, which are all male. Instead of aggression caused by hunger it might instead be them using things as punching bags for practice when they fight for mates, which some of those species of ducks I mentioned do.

Pagani Huayra BC „Macchina Volante“.
The Pagani Huayra BC is the most technologically advanced Huayra Coupé yet, introducing innovative technical solutions which will be applied in the Pagani cars of the future. This not just a „restyling“ of the Huayra, but a product that includes innovative changes in every part of the vehicle. It’s a car that has a completely different personality to that of the Huayra Coupé.
Conceived primarily as road going car that will give the maximum exhilaration and performance during track days and special events, the Pagani Huayra BC has been inspired by its „track focused“ predecessors: the Pagani Zonda R and the Zonda Cinque.
The name „BC“ represents the initials of Benny Caiola, a person who has greatly inspired Horacio Pagani over the years. Benny was so impressed by the passion and technology of the cars Horacio was designing from the very beginning, he made history as the first customer to buy a Pagani Automobile.
The Pagani Huayra BC powered by the masterpiece of an engine the Mercedes-AMG M158 V12 biturbo engine 6.0L over 800HP and 1100Nm of Torque.
Exclusively Handcrafted by Michael Kübler @f1mike28 in Germany Affalterbach.
Driving Performance is our Passion! Mercedes-AMG the Performance and Sports Car Brand from Mercedes-Benz and Exclusive Partner for Pagani Automobili. Mercedes-AMG Handcrafted by Racers.

What Alt-clothing brands do you like that are 1) not totally cheap 2) have some plus size option (I'm usually a 1x or 2x 3) have a scifi, fantasy, or historical vibe to them.
I want to dress cooler. And would love some premade options while I develop my sewing skills. Examples I have found include Holy Clothing, or Volante design.

Giorgio Ferro (born 1931, Murano, Italy) is a Murano glass designer and maker. Giorgio was born into a family of glass makers. His father, Galliano Ferro, was the talented glass designer who founded Vetreria Artistica Galliano Ferro in 1955.
Giorgio studied at the Carmini State Institute of Art in Venice, graduating in 1951. From 1951 until 1955 he worked as a designer at the Arte Vetraria Muranese (A.V.E.M.), the factory founded by his grandfather Antonio Ferro, his father Galliano Ferro, and by Emilio Nason and Giulio Radi.
After the death of Giulio Ravi in 1952, the young Giorgio took the role of lead designer of A.V.E.M. It is during this time that Giorgio first created the successful Ansa Volante vases, made of thick chromatic iridescent glass–a technique that he had learned from Radi, creating sinuous curves, small openings and large handles. These designs were exhibited in the 1952 Venice Biennale.
