Tot 6 jaar gevangenisstraf voor internationale beleggingsfraude

De rechtbank veroordeelt 4 Nederlandse mannen van 49 (2x), 60, en 47 jaar oud die wonen in Spanje (2x), Ecuador en Zandvoort tot gevangenisstraffen tussen de 3 en 6 jaar voor oplichting van een groot aantal personen door middel van boilerroomfraude en valsheid in geschrift. Daarbij moeten de mannen een schadevergoeding betalen van ruim 5,2 miljoen euro aan 53 slachtoffers. De rechtbank spreekt een 54 jarige man uit Zandvoort vrij wegens onvoldoende wettig en overtuigend bewijs. De mannen lichtten tussen 2013 en 2020 onder de namen FX-CI, Power Capital Financial Trading (PCFT), Volcap FX, Gain Capital Financial Trading en LDN vele mensen op. Deze bedrijven waren zogeheten boilerrooms, een organisatie van frauduleuze personen die met hulp van verkopers bellen naar potentiële beleggers om ze onder andere te laten investeren in niet bestaande beleggingsproducten.  De mannen maakten steeds op professionele en georganiseerde wijze gebruik van het vertrouwen van de slachtoffers. Zij hielden hen voor dat hun geld belegd werd in buitenlandse valuta (Forex). Daarbij maakten de mannen gebruik van valse namen, verschillende buitenlandse rekeningen, gelikte websites en valse adressen en telefoonnummers waarmee zij suggereerden dat het betreffende bedrijf in Londen of Berlijn was gevestigd. Het geld werd echter niet belegd, maar verdween en is nog steeds spoorloos.  Valsheid in geschrift Daarnaast maakten de mannen zich meermalen schuldig aan valsheid in geschrift met als doel het verhullen van de oplichting.  Verschillende rollen De mannen waren in verschillende rollen betrokken bij de boilerroom. Ze belden potentiële klanten, hadden regelmatig contact met bestaande klanten om hen over te halen meer geld in te leggen, zorgden voor de website, de administratie, coördineerden de werkzaamheden van anderen en zorgden voor de financiële afwikkeling en het laten verdwijnen van het geld.  Ongeloofwaardige verklaringen De mannen ontkenden grotendeels hun betrokkenheid bij de boilerrooms. Ze hadden misschien wel werkzaamheden verricht, maar wisten niet dat de klanten werden opgelicht. De rechtbank vindt hun verklaringen volstrekt ongeloofwaardig.  Vrijspraak bij 3 boilerrooms De rechtbank spreekt de mannen vrij van hun betrokkenheid bij de boilerrooms A&L, GT-IG en Kapital Wealth. Benadeelden ernstig gedupeerd De mannen lieten zich allen leiden door financieel gewin. Door hun handelen zijn de benadeelden ernstig gedupeerd. In sommige gevallen zijn zij al hun spaargeld of pensioenvoorziening kwijt. Ook hebben zij last van schaamte, psychische problemen en leidde de oplichting tot problemen in hun sociale omgeving. Hun vertrouwen in de medemens is geschaad.  Celstraffen De rechtbank legt aan de 49-jarige man uit Zandvoort en de 49-jarige man uit Spanje de hoogste gevangenisstraffen op van respectievelijk 6 en 5 jaar. De mannen coördineerden de werkzaamheden van anderen en hadden zicht op de geldstroom. De 49-jarige man uit Zandvoort krijgt de hoogste straf omdat hij zich ook schuldig heeft gemaakt aan valsheid in geschrift in een notariële akte. Notariële akten hebben een grotere bewijswaarde dan andere aktes. Het vertrouwen dat de maatschappij in notariële akten moet kunnen hebben is van groot belang. De straf die de rechtbank aan deze man oplegt is hoger dan de 5,5 jaar gevangenisstraf die de officier van justitie eiste. De rechtbank benadrukt daarmee dat niet alleen de gepleegde omvangrijke oplichtingen zeer ernstig zijn, maar ook dat de man gebruik heeft (willen) maken van valse stukken, waaronder een notariële akte. De gevangenisstraf van de 49-jarige man uit Spanje is gelijk aan de eis van de officier van justitie.  De 47-jarige man uit Ecuador krijgt een hogere straf dan de 3 jaar die de officier van justitie eiste. De 60-jarige man uit Spanje krijgt een gevangenisstraf van 3 jaar. Dat is lager dan de eis van de officier van justitie, omdat de rechtbank minder feiten bewezen vindt.  Schadevergoedingen De schadevergoeding die de mannen aan de slachtoffers moeten betalen is het geldbedrag dat de slachtoffers hebben ingelegd in de boilerrooms. Het aantal slachtoffers en het totaalbedrag dat zij zijn verloren ligt hoger. Niet alle slachtoffers hebben een verzoek tot schadevergoeding gedaan.  Bron: rechtspraak Read the full article

How Does Kinect Video Recording Work?

This article will discuss how kinect video recording works and why azure kinect volumetric capture is becoming popular for 3D object creation.

When recording with kinect or other 3D cameras with the regular video stream also expect to get Depth frames. This makes 3D cameras unbelievably attractive as it enables them to measure the distance from the camera to every single pixel in the video. Such a method lets you have moving 3D objects without any animation or rigging. It recreates the real depth of the object as well as colour. You can then put this video into game engines, take out backgrounds, segment objects from the environment, etc Nowadays such recording is called volumetric capture and usually we use azure or real-sense cameras for it.

Azure Kinect volumetric capture is probably the most popular method for those who want to own the rig. The reason for that is the robustness and the stability of the camera. From my experience it rarely loses frames while Real-sense has good and bad days.

The problem with azure kinect volumetric capture but also with any other camera you will use is that they need to be synchronized. Here I probably need to mention that in order to get volumetric video you must use multiple 3D cameras. I would advise having 4 or more of them. The more of them you add the less occlusion point you will have and therefore your recordings will be better quality. You can try to work with Kinect sdk to do this but from my experience it's a complicated process and it gets you nowhere. Therefore, I found a subscription based product for azure kinect volumetric capture. EF EVE Volcap software calibrates the cameras using markers. I have tried their software with 4 azure kinects following their tutorial.

Azure cameras need to be placed quite close to the object. The company  recommends a distance of 2x2 metres setup but I saw that one of the functionalities of the software lets you extend the distance. The setup was simple but you need to have a stand on which you place the marker. This lets you measure and calibrate feeds from different cameras at a certain location in the capture space. The use of kinect video recording gives you point clouds in real time. The point cloud is good enough for a creative project but I was looking for realism. Therefore there was a need to apply mesh. For the mesh application I have used another company’s product Creator. This software has a lot of functionality for editing volumetric video. I have cut the video using their time editor and used their automatic frame cleaning for any noise as well as what they call “brush” to clean more important parts such as faces. Application of mesh was very straight forward and you can right away see the result. Then I took the kinect  video recording and post-processed it. My file was large so I needed to leave the file to process for around 6h. 

Once that was over, I exported the file into Unreal using the company's UN project.

Conclusion

The process was very smooth and I was really happy with the quality. However, I believe that in order to get very high resolution I should add another 2 or 4 cameras. The software lets you add up to 10 cameras and I had 4. The functionality is good and I was especially happy with automatic cleaning. However, the AI still needs to be improved as some of the frames had noise. This can be cleaned with “brush” but if you have loads of noise then it might become time consuming. Saying that I can't imagine if I would have needed to do this by myself without this software. I would recommend trying out this azure kinect volumetric capture.
