Vivo X50 Review - More Than The Specs, Better Than You Expect!
Tumblr media
Vivo recently launched the new Vivo X50 Series of smartphones. There was the Vivo X50 Pro which is a high-end flagship and the Vivo X50 which offers value for money while not skipping the most essential features. The camera is the USP of the all-new Vivo X50 and the phone surely performs on par expectations. The Vivo X50 base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage is priced at ₹ 34,990, while the top variant with 8GB RAM & 256GB storage is priced at ₹ 37,990. I got the base variant with 8GB RAM & 128GB storage and I used it for like almost two weeks till now. Here’s my full review of Vivo X50.
Vivo X50 Review – More Than the Specs, Better Than You Expect!
But before we jump into the actual review, here are the quick specs of Vivo X50.
Tumblr media

32MP front-facing camera with f/2.48 aperture
In-display fingerprint sensor
USB Type-C Audio, Hi-Res audio, 3 microphones for audio zoom
Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.1, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, NFC, USB Type-C
4200mAh battery with 33W fast charging
The specs of the phone look impressive on paper, but do they really reflect on the performance of the phone in day to day life? Let’s find out.
Built & Design
Vivo X50 has a glass and metal body with glass on both the front and the back with an aluminum side rail. The phone is quite slim with a thickness of just 7.49mm. The corners maintain a subtle uniform curve. The Vivo X50 feels quite premium to hold and it’s not heavy.
Tumblr media
On the front, the Vivo X50 has a 6.56 inch full HD AMOLED panel with 2.5D glass and a punch-hole camera. There’s an in-display fingerprint scanner. On the back, at the top left corner, there is the rectangular camera module that blends well with the overall footprint of the phone. The camera module houses four camera sensors along with an LED flash. On the right side rail there is the power button and volume rockers while on the left edge, there is the SIM card tray. The bottom of the phone houses the USB-C port for charging and data transfer, which is also used for connecting audio devices as there is no headphone jack. Along with the USB-C port, there is the speaker grille.
Display
As mentioned earlier, the Vivo X50 has a 6.56 inch full HD AMOLED panel with 2.5D glass. The display offers a resolution of 1080×2376. The screen-to-body ratio is impressive with 92.8% as there are very slim bezels around the display. The display offers DCI-P3 Color Gamut & HDR10 producing rich & accurate color and a wider dynamic range for video content. The display is bright and vibrant and the sunlight readability is good enough.
Tumblr media
As it’s an AMOLED panel, you can be sure that the display will be consuming less power compared to an IPS LCD panel. The display has a refresh rate of 90Hz so that everything feels very smooth and I particularly enjoyed scrolling through Reddit and Twitter on this device. The touch response time is 180ms, so it helps in tasks like gaming. There is an in-display fingerprint scanner that is fast and accurate. Overall, I’m quite pleased with the display on the Vivo X50 with a high refresh rate.
Performance
On paper, the Vivo X50 specs don’t impress everyone, but everyone forgets that this phone is more focussed on photography. However, in real life, the performance is quite good for everyone. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 730G chipset coupled with 8GB of RAM. I used the phone mostly for tasks like browsing the web and social media, emails, streaming music, and video content, and some gaming. During regular tasks, there are no noticeable lags.
Multitasking works like a charm and there are no issues while switching between the already opened apps in the background. The RAM management is quite good with no aggressive behavior killing idle apps in the background. I also played games like PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile, 8 Ball Pool & Clash Royale. While you can easily get the best kind of performance in games like Clash Royale and 8 Ball Pool, in heavy games like PUBG Mobile or Call of Duty Mobile as well the gameplay experience was satisfactory. During heavy gaming sessions, the phone heats up just a little bit but the temperature range is within the comfort zone.
Camera
Vivo X50 is a camera-centric phone and I was already expecting a lot. Gladly the phone didn’t disappoint me at all. However, Vivo has made quite a different kind of lenses for its X50. There is a primary Sony IMX598 48-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.6 aperture. The primary sensor has got Optical Image Stabilization. Along with that, there are three more lenses- an 8-megapixel 120° ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture, a 13-megapixel portrait lens with f/2.48 aperture and a 5-megapixel 1.5cm super macro with f/2.48 aperture. The Vivo X50 offers a 2x optical zoom and up to 20x digital zoom.
Tumblr media
The main camera captures sharp impressive shots in broad daylight. The colors are punchy, saturation levels, and the dynamic range is good. Even in low lighting conditions, the main camera with f/1.6 aperture managed to click some good pictures. The 8-megapixel wide-angle camera captures decent shots. There is a dedicated depth sensor and with it, I experimented a bit and tried to take some shots while the lens is covered and even without that bokeh lens the phone managed to pull off some nicely composed portraits. The macro lens works fine, but it could be a lot better if Vivo could add at least an 8-megapixel lens.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In terms of video, the phone is capable of recording videos at up to 4K at 30 fps and the output is awesome I would say. The combination of OIS and EIS makes it possible for anyone to record videos while holding the phone and walking, without degrading the video quality.
The Vivo X50 offers quite a few camera modes including extreme night vision for super low light photos. This mode helps a lot while taking shots under very low light. There are also a few night filters to enhance photos. There is also a Pro Sports Mode, assisted by Motion Auto Focus which offers quick exposure and shutter speed for taking shots of moving objects for some amazing shots. It’s quite hard to explain everything in writing so here are some camera samples for you. Look and judge yourself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In terms of selfies, the Vivo X50 comes with a single 32-megapixel punch-hole camera with f/2.48 aperture. The selfie shooter clicks some nice sharp shots with a good amount of detail and the camera also works well in dim environments, making it a good contender against many other phones which offer a good rear camera setup but suck in terms of selfies.
Software
Vivo X50 runs Android 10 out of the box with Vivo’s own FunTouch OS 10 skin on top. FunTouch OS 10 is a blend of the old and new, as it retains some of the old, most-loved features while bringing a new fresh look and improving the user experience. The FunTouch OS 10 is much improved and packed with features.
The new FunTouch OS 10 brings performance improvements, quick sharing features, new system dynamics, and minimalistic design. The Vivo X50 also brings DocVault which uses the Government of India’s Digilocker platform as an authorized partner. It’s very useful for easily managing documents on the go.
There is the system-wide dark mode which reduces strain on the eyes and as Vivo X50 comes with an AMOLED display, the dark mode would also help save power. There is also the new Desktop Mode where the phone would switch to a desktop mode when you connect your phone to an external monitor. Along with these, there are other features like easier file sharing, new privacy-focused settings, multitasking via floating windows, and much more. The UI has improved a lot when we look back and the overall experience with the FunTouch OS on Vivo X50 has been really good.
Battery
The Vivo X50 packs a 4200mAh battery which seems to be quite good. The phone saves quite a bit of power if you use dark mode. However, if you normally use the phone without the dark mode, then also, you can get a full day usage easily and may need to plug it in by the end of the phone. I mostly charge my phone overnight but when I forgot to plug it in once, then also, by the time I wake up and leave home, I could easily get the phone charged up to 78% thanks to the ultra-fast 33W charging.
Final Verdict
Vivo X50 is a phone that you can rely on for video creation. The camera on the phone is really good, the device feels premium and due to the design, the phone quite reminds of Huawei. A high refresh rate AMOLED panel, solid battery, and stable performance, along with superfast 33W charging make the Vivo X50 phone quite a complete package for most users.
Pros
Premium build & design
Great photo & video capturing capabilities
90Hz AMOLED display
Cons
Single Bottom firing speaker

Vivo X50 Pro Full Review
Vivo X50 Pro Detailed Review
The Vivo X50 Pro uses the gimbal camera stabilization.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
The Vivo X50 Pro is the primary expansion to the organization's X-arrangement in quite a while. The last telephone to be added to the X arrangement was the Vivo X21, which I surveyed route in 2018. The new Vivo X50 Pro highlights a gimbal camera framework, which is the first of its sort in a cell phone and is intended to help balance out the video and still shots by making up for the development of your hands. I put the Vivo X50 Pro under a magnifying glass to see whether it merits your cash.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Vivo X50 Pro structure: Premium looking
The Vivo X50 Pro is very much structured. It looks premium and feels durable in the hand. Vivo has settled on a bent showcase with meager bezels all around, which give it the impression of having an edge-to-edge show. From the outset, you could confuse it with a Samsung gadget, as it has a bent presentation like numerous premium Samsung cell phones, yet the similitudes end there.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Vivo has gone with a slender, metallic edge for the X50 Pro, which is sandwiched between the bent showcase and the bent back glass board. This telephone looks smooth and gets cold to the touch in a cooled room. Vivo has utilized Schott's Xensation Up glass on the front and back for scratch security. I like the flimsy casing and the situating of the force and volume catches, which are anything but difficult to reach.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
While the sides of the edge are bent to enable the telephone to sit well in the hand, the top and the base of the Vivo X50 Pro are shockingly level. It has a USB Type-C port, SIM plate, essential amplifier, and speaker at the base. The essential mouthpiece is excessively near the SIM plate, so it could be confused with the ejector system. On the top, there's an auxiliary mouthpiece alongside engravings that state "5G" and "Expert Photography".
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
The Vivo X50 Pro is accessible in a solitary shading called Alpha Gray. You will see a slight move in shading when light bobs off the backboard. It has a matte, iced finish which helps conceal fingerprints and smircesh very well. The back camera module will snatch eyeballs, as the essential camera focal point is one of the greatest I have ever observed on a cell phone as of late. The whole camera module distends marginally, so I would suggest that you utilize the case gave in the case.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
The Vivo X50 Pro doesn't have a 3.5mm earphone attachment, yet accompanies a couple of customary earphones and a USB Type-C to 3.5mm dongle in the container. It additionally accompanies a 22W Flash Charge 2.0 charger.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Vivo X50 Pro determinations: Future prepared
One of the primary things that grabbed my eye on the spec sheet of the Vivo X50 Pro was the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC. The Vivo X50 Pro was the first cell phone to dispatch in Quite a while with this processor, which we later observed in the lower estimated OnePlus Nord ₹ 27,999 (Review). It is a 5G-prepared SoC which conveys generally excellent execution if the Nord is any sign. There is just a single design of the Vivo X50 Pro in India, which has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of capacity. You don't have the alternative to extend capacity yet 256GB ought to be sufficient for anybody. Vivo has utilized the UFS 2.1 blaze stockpiling position, which is slower than the UFS 3.0 capacity found in the OnePlus 8 ₹ 41,999 (Review) and Xiaomi Mi 10 5G (Review).
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
The Vivo X50 Pro games a 6.56-inch AMOLED show with a 90Hz invigorate rate and 180Hz touch testing rate. It is additionally HDR10+ confirmed. The showcase gets splendid enough outside and has great review edges. You do have the alternative to change the shading yield of the presentation as well.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
There is support for Bluetooth 5.1, double band Wi-Fi, three satellite route frameworks, 5G, and double 4G VoLTE. This telephone comes up short on an IP rating for residue and water obstruction, and remote charging; highlights that I anticipate from a cell phone evaluated at around Rs. 50,000 today.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
As far as programming, the Vivo X50 Pro runs Funtouch OS 10.5 on the head of Android 10, and my unit at first had the May 2020 Android security fix, yet I got a product update during the audit time frame with the July fix. I found various preinstalled applications on the cell phone, for example, Facebook, PhonePe, Amazon, VivoCloud, and V-Appstore, which is an option in contrast to the Google Play store. There's a GameCenter application that offers a curated rundown of games to download. There is likewise an 'Ultra Game Mode' which clears memory when you dispatch a game, and lets you quiet approaching warnings and calls while gaming.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Vivo X50 Pro execution: 5G prepared
The Vivo X50 Pro offered generally excellent execution and I never saw any slack or falter while utilizing it. The UI felt smooth, particularly when I empowered the 90Hz to invigorate the rate for the showcase. I didn't need to trust that long will stack overwhelming applications, and I had the option to perform multiple tasks between various applications without any problem. The unique mark scanner rushed to open the cell phone, and face acknowledgment never required more than one endeavor to work. The presentation delivered fresh subtleties and I delighted in watching recordings on the Vivo X50 Pro. The base terminating speaker got very boisterous however sound system yield was missed.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
The telephone additionally posted some noteworthy numbers in benchmarks. In AnTuTu 8, it oversaw 2,63,410 focuses. It additionally scored 624 and 1899 focuses on Geekbench's single-center and multi-center tests separately. It isn't the most remarkable cell phone in this value go; the OnePlus 8 packs in an all the more impressive Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, which oversaw 5,78,289 in AnTuTu 8 and 912 and 3362 focuses in Geekbench. Concerning the GFXBench illustrations benchmark, the Vivo X50 Pro oversaw 18fps and 32fps in the Car Chase and Manhattan 3.1 tests, individually.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
I played PUBG Mobile on the Vivo X50 Pro, and it defaulted to the 'Great' preset, with illustrations set to 'HD' and the casing rate set to 'High'. The telephone could deal with the game at these settings with no issues and I didn't see any stammer while playing. It didn't get excessively hot and significantly following a brief match, the telephone just enlisted a three percent battery drop.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Battery life on the Vivo X50 Pro was awesome, and it kept going past a day, without waiting to be charged. I noticed that utilizing the gimbal camera framework depleted the battery somewhat quicker. In our HD video circle test, the Vivo X50 Pro went on for 15 hours and 40 minutes, which is genuinely acceptable. The provided 22W Flash Charge 2.0 charger rushes to charge the gadget, getting it to 50 percent in a short time and 91 percent in 60 minutes.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Vivo X50 Pro cameras: Revolutionary or only a trick?
The Vivo X50 Pro has a quad-camera arrangement at the back like most cell phones nowadays, however, the feature include is the gimbal adjustment framework for the 48-megapixel essential camera, which can lessen shakes while shooting photographs and video. The sensor is additionally truly greater than most different sensors utilized in telephones lately. This gimbal framework permits the camera sensor to move and turn marginally, making up for incidental shakes.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Different cameras are a 13-megapixel sensor for pictures, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-point camera, and an 8-megapixel fax camera. The camera application has heaps of highlights and you get various shooting modes to browse. The gimbal camera framework can be flipped on or off from the camera settings, and when it is empowered the viewfinder gives you an overlay of a little hover with a white ball in it. Vivo says that as long as the little ball is in the circle, the Vivo X50 Pro ought to convey a very much balanced outshot. On the facade of the telephone, you get a 32-megapixel selfie camera.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
The man-made brainpower (AI) on the Vivo X50 Pro rushes to perceive a scene and set the camera up as needs be. It likewise offers proposals for which sensor to utilize, in view of the scene.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
In light, the Vivo X50 Pro oversaw great shots with a nice measure of detail. The ultra-wide-edge camera offered a more extensive field of view however there was a remarkable misfortune in detail contrasted with shots taken with the essential sensor.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Close-ups turned out very well. In the event that you experience difficulty keeping your hands consistent while shooting, there is no motivation to stress with the Vivo X50 Pro as the gimbal framework repays well overall, bringing about a fresh shot almost inevitably. Be that as it may, the AI will in general lift hues somewhat, which I wasn't excessively content with.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Representation mode on the Vivo X50 Pro uses the devoted 13-megapixel picture camera, which even offers a 2x zoomed-taking into account your subject. The cell phone lets you set the degree of obscure, beautification, and style impacts before making an effort. The yield had great edge recognition and the Vivo X50 Pro could recognize the subject and the foundation well overall.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
For large scale shots, the Vivo X50 Pro uses the wide-point camera. The telephone makes great full-scale efforts, and the higher goal of the ultra-wide-edge sensor permits you to amplify and trim shots whenever required.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
The fax camera offers 5x optical zoom and up to 60x computerized zoom. At 5x, photographs have great detail, however, at higher amplification levels, there is a slight plunge in the degree of detail yet not a lot of grain. Huge content a way off was as yet clear even at higher amplification levels.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Photographs taken in low light had great subtleties, and the telephone figured out how to downplay commotion and grain. Empowering Night mode improved the general brilliance of shots with better subtleties in the shadows. The gimbal framework helped keep the camera stable while the telephone made various long introduction efforts in Night mode. There are different photograph impacts accessible as well.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Selfies taken with the 32-megapixel front camera ended up being admirably during the day with great subtleties. The camera application gives you the alternative to mimic a profundity impact, similar to you get with Portrait mode, however you can't set the degree of obscure. Low-light shots had great detail, considerably in the wake of editing.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Video recording finishes out at 4K 60fps for the essential camera while the selfie camera is constrained to 1080p. The gimbal camera framework settles video very well bringing about consistent looking film at 1080p just as 4K. It additionally figured out how to balance our film while I was pacing all over, which was great. There are different highlights for video, for example, encompass sound account which lets you select between the forward-looking, back confronting, and encompass sound impacts, while recording. Video shot in low-light is balanced out at 1080p just as 4K. Recordings shot in low-light had great subtleties and extremely low clamor and has incidental sparkle impacts while changing bearings while strolling.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Decision
The Vivo X50 Pro is the first cell phone to highlight worked in gimbal adjustment. While this is a first-gen item, it carries out the responsibility very well. Video adjustment was very acceptable and the gimbal framework makes it too simple to make efforts with Night mode. Ideally, this element will turn out to be more normal later on.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
On the off chance that you shoot a great deal of recordings on your cell phone and would prefer not to spend on a hand-held gimbal, the Vivo X50 Pro should engage you. Its camera and video execution are certainly features. Nonetheless, this telephone isn't an all-rounder and falls somewhat short in a couple of key territories. The OnePlus 8 offers much better application and gaming execution at a lower cost. Essentially, the Xiaomi Mi 10 5G and the OnePlus 8 Pro could be ground-breaking options in contrast to the Vivo X50 Pro.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
On the off chance that you couldn't care less about having a leader level SoC however would much rather have the best adjustment framework in your telephone, at that point nothing approaches the Vivo X50 Pro, at any rate not yet.

Both the phones have a display with HDR 10+ support, 90Hz refresh rate, and 180Hz touch response rate. The Vivo X50 Pro also has 8GB of RAM. Both the phones have 256GB onboard storage. However, there is no option for memory expansion via a microSD card. The Vivo X50 also has a 128GB base variant.
In terms of optics, the Vivo X50 offers a quad camera setup. There is a 48-megapixel Sony IMX598 primary sensor with an f/1.6 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). This system also widens the rotation angle and anti-shake area compared to popular stabilization technologies. There is an animated dot within a circle in the camera UI which reflects the gimbal’s movement and lets users know when the frame is stable.
Both the phones come with an in-display fingerprint scanner and they offer typical connectivity options like 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS & USB-C port for charging & data transfer.
