White Orchid (I had not realized how hard it was to photograph a white flower.)

Lens of the Week or should I say a Setup of the Week is my Vivitar Series-1 90mm F2.5 Macro + Vivitar 1:1 Adapter + Vivitar 3x Tele-Converter! Unless you have Arachnophobia, swipe to see what different adding a tele converter makes. Turns out not only are they useful for telephoto lenses, but also for macro stuff. Never realised that until I tried it myself 馃檪馃憤

I recently received a Vivitar Series I 90mm f2.5 Macro lens for cheap. When I got it in the mail, I realized why. It looked like someone had stored it in a very damp place (perhaps the bottom of the sea) and the lens was so crusted with fungus that it looked like hard water deposits. I couldn't see through the lens it was so cloudy. I took the lens apart and cleaned the glass in a peroxide ammonia mixture. Some of the glass was etched from the fungus, so I couldn't fix that. I ended up stripping the entire lens down and cleaning all the parts and relubing things that needed lube. The lens isn't 100%, but I can at least use it now, and it seems relatively sharp.

Throwback #TBT my other beloved Vivitar Macro lens, the Series-1 90mm F2.5 "Bokina" (it has incredibly smooth bokeh and made by Tokina, hence the nickname). This lens has a cult classic status and one of these lenses that every self respecting vintage lens lover should own, either in this or Tokina finish. It's not the cheapest vintage macro lens, but certainly one of the best ones (not that there are many bad ones) and definitely offers incredible value for money! Who else loves the BOKINA? 馃檶

From my worst Vivitar lens, to the best, a cult classic Series-1 90mm F2.5 MACRO, nicknamed "BOKINA" because it was designed and manufactured by Tokina and more importantly because it has amazingly smooth bokeh! Oh and it's one of the sharpest vintage lenses I've ever tried, even wide one! Any Bokina fans here? 馃檶 P.S. Tried something different with the #lensporn today. New background and all shot with Super Takumar 50mm F1.4 that I'm testing at the moment (swipe for more angles)
