I have a very short period of time to raise a LOT of money for my work visa. If you were considering giving me a gift for my birthday or Jul this year, please consider donating just £1 toward my visa because we all know how well I cope when I'm forcibly sent back to Asia haha gag

One thing that’s been fascinating as an adult with PTSD is hearing about other people’s childhoods and being like “oh so what I went through WASNT normal and has made my perspective on life very different from others”

Ah.
I put Jill's emergency vet bill on the Visa. Visa fees came out today. I did not have enough to cover them. Hm.
Will have to figure out something to do about this. After I have coffee

dear internet stop throwing pictures of beautifully toasted bagels slathered in cream cheese at me i don't have a toaster i don't have room in my teeny kitchenette for a toaster a toaster is a luxury here in japan as are bagels as is cream cheese
bagel places here that ask me "do you want that heated up" make me want to cry tears of joy even though all they mean is they're gonna stick the bagel in the microwave for ten seconds so it's slightly warm-ish but not enough to crisp up or melt the cream cheese a little

JUST realized I would not be able to go to my friend's wedding even if the money to fly there and back miraculously manifested in my bank account. Because I don't have a fucking passport

'The Beatles were in the air, 1964, on their first trip to the U.S. and Granada Films called us and asked us if we could make a film on the group's stay in New York. Our first meeting actually, was with Paul, more than anybody else. We saw them coming off the plane but that was a big, big, gang band, you know. Then we got into the Plaza Hotel a few minutes after they arrived, and got to meet them all, and were in their rooms from then on. They never could go out. Except they went out one time, to the Peppermint Lounge which was very popular at the time and we filmed them there. Ah, once they drove through Central Park. Paul was the one most fascinated with our equipment so we got to talking with him more than anyone else. He loved the idea of making movies this way, spontaneous and with a portable camera. He couldn’t believe the camera, which was hand built. We were very impressed with how unpretentious the Beatles were. They had a marvellous attitude, they didn't take anything very seriously - and all this attention they were getting. We didn't even know anything about them. There actually wasn't that much about the Beatles before they arrived. There was just that one big hit song, "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and some people knew they were four guys who were famous in England. But the most interesting thing was none of the guys - I sincerely thought they were gonna get a big reception - had any idea there was gonna be any people waiting for them at the airport, no matter what happened in Sweden and wherever else they'd been before.
Paul likes to act a lot for the camera and likes to get involved in what the film's all about. We've had long talks about it subsequently - he should be himself and just do what he does, and not get involved in a film that's being made about him, really. I think he's beginning to see it that way himself - but this grew out of conversations we've had about films we were going to do, with Wings and with the Beatles themselves over the last few years. They couldn't leave the room, but they were constantly being barraged with television, radios, interviews and D.J.s. They used to do take-offs on the commercials and they were doing take-offs on the people that they met. Paul was probably the most conscious of the movie being made and most fascinated with the process. He seemed, more than the others, to reveal a certain overall interest in what the whole tour meant. At times I think he may have been a bit depressed by the whole thing. Maybe it was the publicity. You see, it wasn't just a concert tour, but their whole personal involvement and I think he was sensitive to how unpredictable all the ramifications would be. Paul, Brian and George Martin were the only ones to come to the screening of our film, which was longer than the Granada TV version. Like all other films, the subjects often don't know quite what to make of them. The response was very quiet. They didn't ask for any changes, though. In the last several months we've been talking to John and Paul about using a lot of the footage that's already been done of them, including our own stuff and updating it with new stuff - which may or may not include them getting together. John's all for it. I think Paul's for it. I talked to him around Christmas time but he seemed to have little confidence, though, that they could all agree on something. I think it would take a month to talk the other three into it.  When Paul called me about doing a Maysles film of the last Wings tour and we talked, it seemed to me that Paul has grown. He understands now that he can't control everything - he can't be on top of everything. The film fell through due to visa and money problems.'
— The Maysles Brothers quoted in Adam Block, 'The Makka Material' article within magazine, Paul McCartney: Beatle on Wings (1976)
I'm guessing the Maysles Wings doc was the earlier plan before Wings Over The World then?

and a couple final things about my dad's gf. in the literal middle of the gift exchange she started explaining how the price of coffee is gonna go down after trump takes office and my cousin was like "no he's gonna increase tariffs so the price is gonna go up since we can't grow coffee here" and she rolled her eyes and was like "well if you believe all that liberal propaganda🙄" like girl open your gift. and later on a walk I saw a tesla and said "oh a tesla we should throw eggs at it!" which I thought was funny but she's always looking to force us into a political conversation so she was like "oh you hate elon musk because he's with trump?" and I was like "oh no don’t worry I have plenty of reasons to dislike elon musk that have nothing to do with his association to trump" and she was like "yeah🙄 sure🙄" then luckily stopped. and the real Real final thing to say about her is that we went out to lunch dinner and she was playing a game on her phone the whole time. like hi. hello.
