It's not a person with a complex background that led them down the path of evil, it's not a morally grey character you sympathize with but condemn. It's a powerful AI capable of controlling almost anything in the real world. It doesn't have a face or a body, we only know it for its symbol and for the monsters it controls in the virtual world. It's willing not just to kill people through various methods (poisoning, drowning, car crash, fucking space lasers too?) but also Earth as a whole (it tried to blow up a NUCLEAR PLANT and crash two trains with toxic chemicals in them). And we don't even know why it does this, at least not for now. It may not even have a particular reason, just some sort of virus or malware in the form of an AI that seeks nothing but destruction without any goals in mind. This "pure evil" characteristic doesn't come off as childish, like in some children cartoons, it's just kind of scary to think that such an incomprehensible and destructive force exists, almost feels like a natural disaster

So the Eclipse do make a return for the “Shadow from the Past” sidequest that can be accessed incredibly early on in the game. I was originally going to take a look and talk about the makeup of their weaponry, however they look identical to the Tenakth Rebel weapons you can see rebels in the outposts using. (See below). So instead, I decided I would point out their masks. Above, we can see the mask worn by an Eclipse Lieutenant (left) and Rayad (right), who’s rank is not said, though we can assume he’s a leader.

While to my knowledge, the Lieutenant’s mask isn’t seen anywhere else in either game, Rayad’s is, as it’s the same mask that Cultist Leaders use in Zero Dawn. Him being a leader is also almost promised by the fact that he has a working Focus, which Vezreh uses to pass on mission plans.

i really can't say anything abt dante's nerf bc i barely played him and i do think the wf fandom has a habit of grossly overreacting about everything. sometimes nerfs are necessary and healthy and raging against every nerf that happens is stupid. that being said. the nerf has brought up a lot of genuinely important conversations about how wf's balance is really not in a good place right now and i hope the devs do actually approach that in a meaningful way at some point
