📢 What is Viral Load? 🦠
Viral load refers to the amount of HIV in the bloodstream, measured in copies per milliliter of blood. A higher viral load means more active virus replication, while a lower viral load indicates better control of the infection—especially with HIV treatment. Keeping viral load low is crucial for managing HIV and reducing transmission risk.

HEALTH DATA ANALYSIS Public Health Data Analysis: The HIV Project Part One: Descriptive Epidemiology The data set selected for analysis is that of HIV. It presents the prevalence of HIV/AIDS among 359 cases by among other things, gender, ethnicity, city of residence, state, age, and sexual orientation. Place: the highest occurrence of HIV/AIDS is reported in the City of Atlanta, which accounts for 47.5 percent of HIV/AIDS cases among the 359 cases. The second-highest occurrence is reported in College Park at 8.93 percent, followed by Alpharetta at 7.27 percent. The lowest HIV/AIDS occurrence is reported in Hapeville and Johns Creek, both of which report a prevalence rate less than 2 percent. Fig 1 below presents the frequency table showing the frequency of viral load by city of residence. The visual representation of viral load by city is presented in the pie chart labeled as Chart 1. These findings are summarized in frequency table 2 below. Figure 3 summarizes the person characteristics of the dataset by ethnic grouping. African Americans report a higher viral load frequency as compared to Asians and Alaskan Natives. This is despite the fact that whites form the biggest percentage of the sample as shown in the combined frequency table in figure 4. Thus, generally, as per the mean viral load, Indian/Alaskan natives report a higher load than the general American population. Part Two: Analytical Epidemiology The hypothesis developed for this part of the assignment is: Age significantly influences HIV viral load, with younger people reporting higher viral loads A linear regression will be used to test the above hypothesis. A linear regression is used to predict the relationship between variables and the effect of one variable (the independent variable) on another (the dependent variable) (CDC, n.d). The above hypothesis focuses on determining the degree to which age influences the HIV viral load. A linear regression is preferred to a logistic regression because the outcome (dependent) variable is a numerical, continuous variable (CDC, n.d). The logistic regression is preferred in cases where the outcome variable is binary, taking on two values, such as yes or no (CDC, n.d.). The continuous nature of the outcome variable makes a linear regression the most plausible advanced statistics test (CDC, n.d.). A logistic regression is only used in cases where the outcome variable is binary. The complex sample means test may show what age categories have the highest viral loads based on the calculated mean by viral load per age group. However, it would not show the strength of the relationship between the variables. The results of the linear regression are shown below: Advanced Statistical Test: Linear Regression             Linear Regression                         Outcome variable: ViralLoad             Co-variates: Age             Dummy variables:             Interaction terms:             Include missing: False                           Variable Coefficient 95% Confidence Limits Std Error F-test P-value Age 12.593 -7.206 32.391 10.067 1.5647 0.211801 CONSTANT 4959.821 4171.983 5747.659 400.587 153.2985 0               Correlation Coefficient: r^2 = 0.00                         Source df Sum of Squares Mean Square F-statistic p-value   Regression 1 14135923.62 14135923.62 1.5647 0.2118   Residuals 353 3189011758 9034027.642       Total 354 3203147681                       Pearson's Correlation Analysis                         Coefficient T Statistic P-Value         0.0664 1.2509 0.2118                       Spearman's Correlation Analysis                         Coefficient T Statistic P-Value         0.052 0.9788 0.3284       The independent variable yields a positive coefficient of 12.593, implying that contrary to the stated hypothesis, there is a positive relationship between age and viral load. However, the F-statistic associated with the independent variable is not significant at a 95 percent confidence level, The p-value for the F-statistic, the Spearman Correlation, and the Pearsons Correlation are all greater than (>0.05). The regression results thus indicate that age is not a significant predictor of viral load. References CDC (n.d.). Visual Dashboard: Performing Statistical Analysis with Visual Tools. As many of you knew, because of the VERY STRICT Indian Lockdown (which is still in tact), I was unable to get my life-saving HIV treatment from the USA. As you can imagine, this put a HUGE stress on me. I had no other choice than to work with one of our trusted HIV Dr’s here in Nagpur, India and start taking the same meds, same ingredients…..just different names (which of course had me nervous as with any medicine change). And, for $100 USD each month vs $3 USD in the USA. But who cares….its my life, right? No price tag for that. I have been taking the medications from India and after about 2 months I tested my CD4 Count and my Viral Load to be sure the medicine was working. Not only IS it working, it is working WELL!!!. My CD4 Count is 1,285 (Normal is 500-1,200) and my Viral Load (the amount the HIV Virus in my body) remains undetectable as it has since 2005. So, this is very GOOD news and I wanted to let some of my closest friends and family know. God has my back! 🙂 #houseofhope #HF #goodnews #CD4 #viralload #testimony #faith #healing #beyondhiv #nagpur #India www.HFhope.org (at Nagpur) https://www.instagram.com/p/CC1MD9-Aau5/?igshid=wkl3jyavjk9j

I AM #UNDETECTABLE NOW because of my great doctors, amazing ARV (HAART) medications and a very helpful supportive relationship with my friends and family. My initial #ViralLoad (copies of the virus per ml of blood) was very high at 850,000, and my CD4 cells (immune cells) was only 254 (at 200 they declare you AIDS), but within a few months of treatment my viral load dropped to 292, then 69, and is now #undetectable. My CD4 rose to 990. Undetectable means there are less than 40 copies in my blood and that it's very difficult to find, while I'm not cured or negative, I have zero chance of passing on the virus to others, have less chance of immune related issues, and have a strong enough system to fight common illnesses just like HIVNegative people. #U=U Undetectable=Untransmittable Like I said, it's been a long road to get where I am, but reaching undetectability is a massive milestone, it revived my soul, its started to push the horrible thoughts I had aside for more hopeful ones that I will survive, live to see more of life and help educate others, encourage them to get tested and treatment to become undetectable as well. I know more about my health because of all of this happening to me. It's sad yes, but it's TRUE. I live a bit better each day knowing I'm not dying. (at San Francisco, California)

Page 36. Lust and Love
Tumblr media
Love at first sight? Love at first sex? or Sex at first sight? I used to think that the world is way bigger than I though it is. That everything just has a deeper meaning. After all, Life is not always rainbows and butterflies.
The only love story that I ever believed in was my mom and dad's. My grandparents didn't really had a good story. My grandparents on my dad's side didn't go well as Gramps got married to a different woman and my Granny married someone who was never faithful to her. While my mom's side is a different story as they somehow ended up together but granny and mom, they were the second family. I never got the chance to know my biological dad. I never asked anyway. My mom is with a lesbian partner and they've been happy over the years. I still felt the sense of having a complete family. Not the usual, but complete.
Just like any other kid, I also dreamed of a love story of my own. I've had some ex's in the past whom I'd say made me the person I am today. I guess I was honed by all the pain, love, sacrifices, regrets, difficulties, happiness and sorrows of yesterday.  I'd say I already experienced a lot. I'm a late bloomer though but I did get curious about things. I used to believe that Love would survive without sex and sex is nothing without love and that commitments and hookups will never ever be together. I really was kid. But the only thing that I have kept within me is the promise that I would never cheat.
Til I met you. You were way way younger than I am back then. Just as always, I got captivated and trapped by that smile. I tried to keep us with just as we are but you were more curious than I am. I'd say that you were the best sex of my life. I probably got this virus from you to make me remmber that you indeed are. With you, I have experienced making love, having sex and doing both at the same time. I'd say up until now, no one could ever give me pleasure and satisfy me as much as you do. It's like lust is keeping us together and love will be our official label. We eve thought of we're gonna be in case we broke up. I thought we agreed to be fucked buddies once we broke up. Or maybe that just didn't happen anymore cause we're already broken as fuck. I never really had any regret. I learned not to regret something that I once wanted. I just hated the fact that we broke up and how we broke up and why we broke up. ait what? No, you left me. We didn't just broke up. You left me.
Over the years, I kept thinking ans asking. Until I finally ran out of thoughts and finally got tired of asking questions. Or.. did I? I tried to understand why you cheated on me. Maybe because I really wasn't the perfect guy. In our relationship a lot tried to break us apart. I know it pained you that other guys wanted to take me away from you. But I stayed with you right? And now, I'm just starting to become more like you. Is this what you made of me? Is this what I've finally become? Or is this really who I am all along and you just taught me who I really am. And now, I'm just starting to hate myself as much as I hate you. No, I never hated you, not even a little, not even a bit, not even at all, not even now. But you just made me hate myself.
