Jamil Viper:

Jamil is unused to receiving this kind of help, and it left him mildly unsettled at first. He’s always waiting for the other shoe to drop, to have you do a task half-heartedly which he’d then have to redo or have you request something from him in return. You’ll make foods with great consideration of his tastes, and you’ll check you’re doing something right rather than hoping it turns out for the best. He has no idea how to repay the favor or express how it takes a load off his shoulders when you help since he’ll rarely ask.

Malleus Draconia:

Malleus, who is admittedly used to people doing things for him, is still flattered that you go out of your way to do things for him. You’re not the same as Silver or Sebek who were raised to guard him, rather, you chose to do things for him of your own volition. He always feels an odd sense of joy and accomplishment when you make him a snack he’d been curious about or you take a trip to visit the gargoyles with him to see if they need to be cleaned.

Trey Clover:

Trey is pleasantly surprised, thinking he could surely get used to this. He doesn’t want to take advantage of your kindness but having someone to give him little treats rather than being the only one to make them was a luxury he never thought he’d have. He shows his appreciation with his own acts of service, thanking you with sincerity and looking forward to what you’d make him next.

Vil Schoenheit:

Vil appreciated it more since it was an act of love and not a tactic to make him indebted to you in some way. You seemed to get great joy from his gratitude, even when it was you doing something as simple as replacing a product he was about to run out of or helping him meal prep for the week ahead. He doesn’t want you to feel like it’s an obligation because he loves you for many other reasons, not to mention he’s a highly independent person, but he’ll never turn down a genuine act of love.

The idea of ramming space ships into each other as a form of combat maneuver was beyond many galactic military minds comprehension.

A single spacecraft, let alone a military grade class vessel, would cost up in the billions of credits. Entire galactic economies had nearly bankrupted themselves trying to maintain a fleet large enough to secure their borders, so in turn each military ship became an asset not to be squandered lightly.

Perhaps it was this conservative mindset that nearly shattered when these powers first looked upon the Terran ship codenamed “The Ram”.

Unlike other modern vessels the ships of this new classification lacked all weapon emplacements. No energy cannons, missile launchers, rail guns; it was entirely free of weapons. What it did have was excessive amounts of armor plating, several separate shield generators, and a pair of overly powerful engines that could reach max speed in roughly five minutes.

The first time it was observed in combat was during the Terran/Crux war. Both powers had sizable fleets at their disposal and for the first couple months the two powers played cat and mouse games between each other; each trying to find a more advantageous position to commit their forces. Much to the dismay of both powers the first large scale battle was triggered by mere chance than a tactical decision.

A Crux patrol stumbled upon a Terran patrol emerging from a dense nebula in the Viper System. Both patrols requested reinforcements. Nearby patrols were soon diverted to the engagement and within short order what was a small skirmish ballooned into a full scale battle.

There were no battle lines or frontlines as ships opened fire at near point blank range with each other. Even when higher rank Admirals arrived to take charge both sides were too embroiled in the slugfest to make any more nuanced tactical moves without exposing themselves to the enemy.

It was here that the Ram emerged and showed its prowess.

Crux warship crews were not trained on how to handle enemy vessels rushing towards them. What’s more several gun crews became panicked when they saw the Ram ships rushing headlong towards them without diverting course.

With the extra armor and shielding the Terran ships not only struck head on into Crux ships but emerged from the attack relatively unscathed. In most cases the prow of the Ram ships punched clean through the entire hull of the Crux warship and emerged through the other side.

The Crux fleet desperately tried to regain order and form battle lines but each time they did so the Ram ships would plunge head first into their formation and take out the command ship coordinating the effort.

As more and more Terran ships arrived and formed their own battle lines the tide of battle soon drastically changed. After thirteen hours of intense fighting the last of the Crux fleet withdrew from the battle leaving the Terrans the victors.

A full fifth of the Crux navy was lost during the battle with the Ram ships having personally claimed 45% of the kills.

While the war itself would continue for another two years, the Ram ships and their unorthodox tactics had earned them a modicum of respect from the wider galaxy, and a great measure of fear from the Crux.

Yeeah. It’s so obvious. The first-year can’t even look at you without growing red or sputter nonsense, it’s cute actually. They’d think it’s only a crush but when you laugh and place a reassuring hand on top of his whenever he’s nervous? Yeeah. Everyone could tell it’s the day after feelings were confessed and reciprocated!

That’s not the only factor, though. You see, Deuce and his friend group are particularly loud (cough Ace Grim Sebek). I wouldn’t be surprised if somebody overheard them screaming about Deuce finally making a move or succeeding in asking you out. Also the way they IMMEDIATELY move to sit across or pull another chair just to let you sit beside Deuce is a dead giveaway. Jack’s the only one trying not to make this a big deal.

People actually thought you made some type of contract with Octavinelle’s mischievous dorm head and fucked up some things within it when they saw Jade Leech, the equally infamous Octavinelle student around you all the time. They thought he was collecting debt from you! You know, always around you, leaving a little snack on your desk with a note containing who knows what grave threats in it, greeting you outside when class ends, all those notorious pressuring tactics. But you look…happy? When you see him? And Jade looks? Genuine? When he smiles at you? Definitely an unfamiliar sight.

The dots finally connected when you were given a limited edition pastry on the house during that time you visited Mostro Lounge with your friends. Seriously? Free? Octavinelle doesn’t just give out free stuff without some promoting. No, that man handed it to you just like that, told you to enjoy your stay. He didn’t even thought of giving your friends one! Look look, there it is. That super mischievous and mocking smile. Directed towards them but not you, is he courting you?

Jamil sighs when he realises he forgot his headphones back at your place. You needed help in one of the chapters and Kalim encouraged him greatly to aid you, giving him permission to leave his side. The study session went on late, both overworked students tired, and he bid goodbye forgetting his headphones. Now he actually has to listen to Floyd’s annoyingly high pitched voice and some of Ace’s not so intelligent comments during warmup. Until a voice that rings pleasantly in his ears was heard. “Jamil! You left this at my place- hm? Oh no worries! Thanks again with helping me with homework yesterday. I’ll see you later? Bye!” before you hurriedly rushed to your own club activity.

After giving you a wave, Jamil did a sharp turn, purposely avoiding the other basketball club members’ gaze. Left it? At your place? Riiight. Jamil’s not a bad person, but his hands are so full with making sure Kalim survives that no one thinks it’s possible for him to fish out time for another or even willing to. Definitely prompted some teasing brow wiggles and elbow nudges.

you visit each others dorm rooms every chance you get, it doesn't really matter what it is you do or if one of you is busy, just sitting side by side, basking in each others' presence is enough for the two of you

when it gets closer to curfew and it's time for one of you to get going, there's always a good chunk of time spent with him sulking over being apart from you. sometimes he keeps it hidden, but you can tell in the way his touch lingers and how clingy he becomes

if they're feeling particularly emotional that day they may just straight up ask for a sleepover

if you say yes, then he'll be showing you such a content and relaxed face that all your worries dissipate, and you're returning the smile before you even know it

if you say no (most likely due to a tuna-loving gremlin), he won't be able hide his disappointment from you, so let him get a good, long hug before you have to go, okay?

always tries to save a seat for you in the cafeteria, he loves watching your expressions when you eat, and he'll keep in mind what particular foods you seem to enjoy more, and he's already decided to give you his share, though might tease you a bit before he actually gives it to you

likes chastising you if you're being picky, employing all sorts of tactics to convince you to eat the food, whether it be feeding you, giving you a lecture on nutrition, or even blackmailing you from his hugs

don't blame him for nagging you too much, he just enjoys taking care of you and making sure you're always as healthy as can be

grim absolutely gets an extra caretaker! always so ready to bribe the menace with tuna cans so he'll cooperate (and maybe give him a bit more alone time with you)

the ghosts treat him as an honorary student of ramshackle at this point, welcoming him every time he comes over, but not without the teasings of "ahh... young love~" every once in a while

he barely manages to hold back flushing like a tomato (deep down he's elated that's how others see the two of you), but one looks at your flushed face and his blush can't be suppressed

it doesn't matter if he's in a bad mood and no one dares get on his nerves, he steals a glance of you from across the room, and you meet his eyes, waving cheerfully at him, and just like that a soft smile makes its way to his face, and he comes over to rest his weight on you

you might still be young and you don't know what your plans are for the future and how different you'll both be then, but you know him, and maybe that's all you need for now
