1987 is the year of Commodore: 25 years ago the Amiga 500 conquered Europe and remained one of the most popular gaming devices in the Western world until the 1990s.
In Europe, especially in England and Germany, Commodore's inexpensive A500 was a home computer success story: the computer replaced the 8-bit generation, beat Atari ST and IBM PC in the favor of mostly young customers and dominated the market for home users and gamers by 1990. (Source: Chip)

Computer pioneer Grace Hopper running programs on a Univac I computer in 1952.
Hopper wrote the Univac A-0 compiler that allowed more abstract instructions to be converted into machine-runnable code, widely accepted to be the first computer language compiler ever created.
