Massive nonstop traffic jam of 1970s and 1980s cars on the Bruckner Expressway. Looking south to Con Edison's Big Allis power plant, the Hell Gate Bridge and the Manhattan Skyline. One of the worst I've ever been stuck in. Bronx New York. July 1987

1970s Older City Bus with Salvation Message by Vinnie DeVille Via Flickr: Vintage image of an older city bus with sign on the back reminding us that Jesus Saves. More than likely this was a retired city bus that was purchased by a religious group for private use. It may also be out of commission as there are no license plates on it. This original image was scanned from an old contact sheet and was a little blurry. I felt it was an interesting image and tightened it up a little for others to enjoy. This found photograph comes from the private collection of an unknown and/or unknowing art collector. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!

An ex-Southdown Bristol VR running shuttle between Tyseley Locomotive Works and Tyseley station at the works' September 2019 open weekend. Bit of trivia, a Bristol VR was used for Doctor Who's Planet of the Dead. I rode this VR on one of it's shuttle runs, though I'm glad to say that this bus didn't drive through a wormhole and end up on San Helios!

Busing became a contentious issue in the 1960s, but New York began it earlier. Here, teacher Marie Donnelly is in her classroom at P.S. 77 in Glendale, September 28, 1959. In her 40 years of teaching, never has Donnelly had so many African-American students in a class. The youngsters were bused to the school from Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn, a predominantly black neighborhood where schools are overcrowded. P.S. 77, which had an enrollment of 368 all-white students, can handle 1,000 children comfortably. Parents in the Queens neighborhoods objected to influx, but the children themselves adjusted to one another without incident.

West Midlands PTE Daimler Fleetline at the 2018 Warley exhibition. I can just about remember these buses, as several lasted in service until 1997 and I can even vaguely remember riding one on the 55 route from Shard End. These buses are significant as they were the Midlands' first standard front entrance double-decker buses and have a certain old world charm to them.
