‘Bholaa’: a bone-crunching mess
If nothing else, director-actor Ajay Devgn’s chaotic universe in his latest outing—where he performs the arduous task of spearheading both roles—is a bone-crunching lesson in the human anatomy. If Bholaa had a punchline, it’d be A study in human body joints and 201 ways to break them. If it had put in as many words on its screenplay sheets as it does the extras onscreen who come rushing in like…

Superboys Of Malegaon Review: An Earnest Love-Letter to Friendship and Filmmaking.
Reema Kagti has quietly produced and directed some really great projects across film and Television in the last decade or so. She hasn’t necessarily found the respect or appreciation that she deserves for it, and unfortunately is still an underrated filmmaker in the Industry. Most people would probably know her only as Zoya Akhtar’s partner. When in fact they make all movies together irrespective…

Thousands of doctors across major cities in India, including the capital, New Delhi, on Tuesday, joined in on protests sparked by the alleged rape and murder of a trainee last week.
A 31-year-old female medical trainee was found dead at one of the largest government hospitals in the eastern city of Kolkata on Friday. Her body sustained multiple injuries and an autopsy report described evidence of sexual violence.
After the incident, doctors walked off their jobs at government hospitals, demanding better security and safety measures for health workers. The chief of the institution involved, RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, resigned on Monday.
Protests flare as doctors demand better safety
Protests picked up across government-run facilities in the eastern state of West Bengal, home to Kolkata, on Monday — with doctors saying they would suspend emergency services as well until at least Tuesday.
"As resident doctors, we are on the frontline and deal with lots of patients, which makes us quite vulnerable to these attacks," Doctor Rajat Sharma, vice president of India's Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA), told DW.
"It's a scary situation which we see working on a daily basis. Doctors in West Bengal are protesting for their rights. We want to have better security for our resident doctors."
Around 75% of doctors in India have faced some form of violence, according to a survey by the Indian Medical Association.
Sharma's FORDA colleague Sarvesh Pandey told Indian media that doctors' demands included a specialized law protecting healthcare workers from violence on the job.
"There should be stringent security measures in hospitals and CCTV cameras should be installed," he said.
Students at universities in Kolkata also joined in on protests, demanding better safety measures for women in particular.
Sexual violence against women is a big problem in India.
The National Crimes Records Bureau reported that in 2021, an average of 86 rape cases were registered every day and 49 cases of crime against women lodged every single hour.
Protests spread to major cities, some services hampered
The incident has struck a nerve in the medical community who have repeatedly said they face threats from angry family members, especially in the case of bad news involving medical issues.
In the western Maharashtra state, home to financial capital Mumbai, around 8,000 doctors at government hospitals walked off their jobs on Tuesday.
In New Delhi, junior doctors wearing white coats held banners that read "Doctors are not punching bags" as they sat outside a big government hospital to demand an investigation into the incident.
Protests hampered medical services in the city of Lucknow in the most populous state of Uttar Pradesh, as well as in the popular tourist state of Goa.
How have Indian authorities responded?
The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday ordered the case to be transferred over to a federal agency, meaning that Kolkata police will have to submit all case documents to the agency.
Kolkata police initially set up a special investigative team and arrested a man in connection with the case.
City police chief Vineet Kumar Goyal told reporters a case had been registered against the suspect under provisions of the law relating to rape and murder.
The National Human Rights Commission on Tuesday sent notices to the director general of police and the chief secretary of West Bengal state, asking for a detailed report within two weeks.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met the family of the victim on Monday, telling reporters later that police were "giving utmost importance to the investigation."

RG Kar case: Sanjay Roy accuses former Kolkata CP of conspiracy to frame him
Civic volunteer Sanjay Roy, who is so far the ‘sole prime accused’ in the ghastly rape and murder of a lady junior doctor of R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital in Kolkata, on Monday, claimed that the former Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Kumar Goyal was the main conspirator in framing him in the case.  While Ray was brought out of a special court in Kolkata at the end of the first day of the…

"Nostalgia"-2
Having collected the references, I moved on to creating the actual hair cards. For my previous hair card trial I used FiberShop, which was a really good software with how convinient and fast it was. Unfortunately, FiberShop just would not work on my laptop as it kept crashing, so my other alternate was to use XGen.
It was a bit daunting to use XGen as I have had no previous experience, and have heard many complicated things. However, I know XGen is one of the industries standards for hair card and grooming so gave it a go.
I was following 2 tutorials that really helped me a lot along the way, one was by FlipedNormals, which run through the basics of XGen and how to use it, and then one by Vineet Kumar, that talked about the actual process of creating hair card and baking it onto planes.
To start off, I drew the "guide" of my hair cards in Clip Studio Paint.
Tumblr media
Fig.1: Drawn hair cards
Out of these guides, I ended up using most of them except for some of the red ones, which represent like the chunkiest hair layers for the base. The blue ones are there to break apart the big layer and then the green ones are the flyaway hairs.
Creating the hair in XGen was actually easier than I thought and I was satisfied with the results. I then used XNormal to bake the maps: Ambient occlusion, heights, normal and albedo.

With XNormal funnily, the normal maps were not baking properly so I decided to bake the maps again this time using Substance.

After having created the textures, I then created 4 by 3 tiles plane and UVed them in Maya.

UP T20, Season 2: Clinical Kanpur Superstars Beat Noida Kings By Seven Wickets
Tumblr media
BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium: A complete team performance by Kanpur Superstars earned them a seven-wicket victory over Noida Kings in Season 2 of the Uttar Pradesh (UP) T20 League at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium here. The bowlers did a good job to restrict Noida to 119 and the batters then overhauled the challenge clinically with 28 balls to spare. On winning the toss, Noida opted to bat first. The start by the openers was rather watchful as they kept working the strike over and did not hit boundaries. In the early phase, Vineet Panwar was particularly good for Kanpur as he bowled a wicket-maiden – dismissing Aditya Sharma in the fourth over. Mukesh Kumar was then introduced into the attack; he bowled a very economical spell and took the wickets of Mohammad Amaan and Nitish Rana. When Mukesh dismissed Rana in the ninth over, Noida were 34 for four. Run-scoring wasn’t an easy task. The first six of the matches came off the bat of Piyush Chawla, who walked in at 50 for five in the 12th over and lofted his second ball down the ground. Up until then, Noida had managed only two boundaries in their innings. It was due to the efforts of Chawla, who scored 19 and Mohammad Sharim that Noida got to 119 in their 20 overs. Sharim’s knock was critical as he was the most aggressive Noida batter on the day. The 20-ball 35 was worth its weight in gold under the circumstances. During his innings, he smashed one four and four sixes. When he walked out to bat in the 16th over, Noida were 68 for six. Sharim started off as he intended to go – smashing his first ball for six over mid-wicket off Aaqib Khan. Sharim stayed through to the end and was run out off the last ball of the innings in an attempt to pick a run. Mukesh was Kanpur’s most successful bowler but the others too chipped in with good performances. Ankur Malik bowled two overs and took a wicket, conceding only four runs. Mohsin Khan picked two for 27 and there was a wicket apiece for Panwar and Aaqib. Kanpur’s run-chase was off to a shaky start when Aashiyan Saifi was dismissed in the second over while trying to clear mid-wicket. Shoaib Siddiqui, the Kanpur wicketkeeper-batter, allayed any nerves his team may have had. With his attacking approach, he ensured the runs came at a quicker pace. He smashed the first two balls of the fourth over for fours to find some momentum. Kanpur brought up their fifty in the eighth over when Siddique hit two fours off Rana’s off-spin. Adarsh Singh gave Siddiqui good company by holding one end. The first six of Kanpur’s innings came in the 10th over when he hit Naman Tiwari over fine-leg for a six. At the halfway mark, Kanpur had moved to 65. Siddiqui followed that with his first six when he hit Sharim over mid-wicket soon after. The partnership ended when Adarsh edged one to point off Tiwary. The pair had added 76 in good time and put Kanpur on course. That brought Sameer Rizvi to the crease, who seemed to be in a hurry to finish the game. He started by smashing two fours of Piyush Chawla. When Tiwari came on to bowl the 14th over, Rizvi started with a four off the second ball. He then pulled the third over the leg-side for a six and followed it up with another maximum over fine-leg. The Rizvi charge continued as the target approached and the Kanpur captain put on an exhibition for the fans. With four needed to win, he tried to follow up a six with another off Kartik Yadav but was bowled. His innings of 33 came off only 16 balls with three fours and three sixes. Siddiqui finished the match with a four off Prashant Veer over long-on and got to his half-century Brief scores: The Rizvi charge continued as the target approached and the Kanpur captain put on an exhibition for the fans.
