An Oriental Beauty. Vincent G. Stiepevich (American/Russian, 1841-1910). Oil on canvas.

Oriental Reverie. Vincent G. Stiepevich (American 1841-1910). Oil on canvas.
A painter of portraits and genre scenes, Stiepevich emigrated from Russia eventually settling in Brooklyn, NY in 1878. In this orientalist work, music is being played to the harem beauty. As with similar works, the model has western, not oriental, features and probably is from the New York area.
