Home Sweet Burrow

Pairing ➌ Joe Burrow x Reader
Summary ➌ Joe and you are on a mission to furnish your brand-new house, but what starts as a casual shopping trip turns into a full-blown adventure. Between Joe’s quirky opinions on throw pillows and your obsession with picking out the perfect coffee table, you both learn a lot about each other—and yourselves. The house may be new, but it's starting to feel like home.
Word Count ➌ 485
Warnings ➌ Just Fluff
A/N ➌ Hey guys this is my first post/one shot if you want to call it but I'm new and just getting started if you have any tips or suggestions please feel free to share. I also take requests.
The sun was setting over Cincinnati, casting a golden glow over the city as you and Joe strolled into the sleek, modern furniture store. Your new house—a beautiful, airy place with high ceilings and expansive windows—was nearly finished, but there was one problem: it was still completely empty. Except for a couch. Joe insisted on getting a big sectional sofa first, because, as he put it, “It’s gotta be comfortable for game days, right?”
“Alright,” You said, glancing at him as we walked through the sliding doors. “We’re on a mission. We need to make this place feel like a home, not a hotel lobby.”
Joe flashed a grin. “A hotel lobby would have a good minibar, though.”
“Focus, Joe,” you say laughing. “This is a house, not a suite.”
“I know, I know,” he teased, rubbing his chin. “But we should get a minibar. Just sayin’.”
Joe and you moved through the store, you found myself getting distracted by all the little details—vases, lamps, wall art. Meanwhile, Joe was making very serious decisions about the most random things. “What about this lamp?” he asked, holding up a funky, geometric piece that looked more like modern art than an actual light source.
You raised an eyebrow. “Really? That looks like something you’d find in a sci-fi movie.”
He chuckled. “Exactly. It’s perfect.”
After much back-and-forth on the lamp situation (which ultimately ended in you picking something a little more traditional), then you and Joe ventured to the kitchen section. Joe’s face lit up as you looked at the wine glasses.
“We need a good set of these,” he said. “For...you know...celebrating stuff.”
“You mean, for after you win the next Super Bowl?” you teased.
“Exactly,” Joe grinned, pulling out a set of crystal glasses. “We’ll toast to that moment when it happens.”
Joe paused for a second, imagining it: Joe hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy above his head, Cincinnati going wild. It was a beautiful thought.
The shopping trip was a mix of seriousness and silliness—Joe testing out every recliner in the store, making you laugh by acting like he was auditioning for a role in a commercial. And you obsessing over the smallest things, like picking out the perfect throw pillows for the couch. It wasn’t just about the house; it was about making memories, finding y'alls rhythm in this new chapter.
By the time you were ready to check out, the cart was filled with everything you both needed—and some things you probably didn’t. You give Joe a pointed look as he placed a neon green throw blanket on top of the pile.
“Are you sure about that?” you asked skeptically.
Joe shrugged, that confident, carefree smile of his lighting up his face. “Look, every home needs a little bit of chaos.”
You have to admit, he was right. A little chaos made everything feel real, and that’s exactly what you both were building together. A real home.

Behind the Green and Gold: What Makes the Packers So Special?
The Green Bay Packers are truly one of the most unique and special franchises in all of sports. As the only fan-owned non-profit team in American professional sports, the Packers have a connection to their fans and community that is unrivaled across the NFL’s landscape.
Beyond the business model, the Packers’ identity is steeped in history, success, and an aura of toughness that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Green Bay. Here’s a look at some of the key factors that make this iconic franchise so incredibly special.
The “Frozen Tundra” and Lambeau Field Mystique
Lambeau Field has rightfully earned its nickname as the “Frozen Tundra” thanks to the often frigid conditions Green Bay experiences in the later months of the NFL season. The harsh cold, paired with the iconic green and gold colors, creates an environment tailor-made for hard-nosed, ground-and-pound football. Generations of Packers greats have battled the elements while bringing glory to Titletown. This aura of toughness persists today, with Lambeau Field giving Green Bay a true home-field advantage.
Community Ownership
The Packers have held stock sales periodically throughout their history, which has resulted in over 360,000 shareholders who collectively own the team. This community ownership creates an inimitable bond between the franchise and its fans. Supporting the Packers is supporting your neighbors and friends. Green Bay’s small-town loyalty manifests itself in undying fan support, regardless of wins and losses. Cheeseheads are truly invested in this team.
Championships and History
With 13 total NFL championships, the Packers lay claim to the most in league history. Legends like Curly Lambeau, Vince Lombardi, Brett Favre, and Aaron Rodgers have all added to the team’s decorated history. Monikers like “Titletown” and “Lambeau Field” are etched in NFL lore. The Packers are a cornerstone franchise that helped build football into what it is today.
The Vince Lombardi Era
No figure defines winning in the NFL more than legendary Packers coach Vince Lombardi. During the 1960s, Lombardi led Green Bay to five NFL championships and the first two Super Bowls ever played. His fanatical pursuit of perfection and excellence came to symbolize the franchise. Lombardi’s legacy still permeates the organization today, as the Super Bowl trophy itself bears his iconic name.
The Lombardi Trophy
The Super Bowl trophy was renamed to honor legendary Packers coach Vince Lombardi following his sudden passing in 1970. Lombardi led Green Bay to victories in the first two Super Bowls ever played. It’s only fitting that the NFL’s championship prize was named after him, forever linking Lombardi to football’s greatest game. Winning the Lombardi Trophy has become the ultimate goal, cementing Lombardi’s legacy as one of the game’s pioneering icons. The Packers have won four Lombardi Trophies over their storied history.
The Odds and Aaron Rodgers
In today’s NFL odds, the Packers’ success hinges on second-year quarterback Jordan Love. With Aaron Rodgers now playing for the New York Jets, Love takes over as the starter in Green Bay. Despite his inexperience, the Packers enter most matchups as contenders thanks to a talented roster. However, the team’s championship window depends on how quickly Love can develop into an elite quarterback. This season likely represents one of the first chances for Love to lead the Packers back to the playoffs and further cement his own Green Bay legacy.
Conclusion
The Packers’ identity is truly one-of-a-kind across professional sports. From the Frozen Tundra to community ownership, Green Bay has cultivated a culture and mystique over the past century that fuels its continued success. That’s why on Sundays in the fall, there’s no place football fans would rather be than cheering on the green and gold at Lambeau Field. The Packers are engrained in the fabric of the NFL, and that’s what makes this franchise so incredibly special.

SH-IG stories
This is not Rugby 🏉 is American football. A rugby ball is noticeably bigger, and more rounded (American footballs are very “pointy” at the ends) and ready for NFL SUPER BOWL tonight 🏈
@imahalfemptykindofgirl I also thought about that possibility. He underestimates how seriously the NFL takes this. He must not use the word Super Bowl associated with his ads, as he did in 2021 and repeated in 2023. Not only that, he could not use the Vince Lombardi Trophy in anything, as in 2022. He can’t use the logos without the express authorization of the NFL. Commercial activity using the term “Super Bowl” or the Super-bowl trophy is considered a violation by the NFL.

Joe Bernal: Former Swimming Coach at both Fordham & The Prep named in sexual harassment suit
I met Coach Bernal a few times, via a swim team member, during our freshman year at school. He seemed like a nice guy and as the “other shoe drops” I guess I have to add-you don’t really know people.
The late Joe Bernal gained early notoriety as the Head Swim Coach at Fordham University in the 1970s. While there, he was able to transform what was described as “a lowly Fordham men's team” to the heights of winning seven Metropolitan Collegiate Swim Championships in a row. In 1976, he received the Vince Lombardi Trophy for coaching excellence. He also produced his first Olympian, Robert Hackett (Fordham Prep Class of ‘77) for the 1976 Games in Montreal, Canada where he won a Silver Medal.
Tumblr media
Bernal: Photo from Obituary 2022.
Bernal was also inducted into the Metropolitan Swimming Hall of Fame in 2003 and the Fordham University Hall of Fame in 2009. After his successful time at Fordham, he became the Aquatics Director and Head Men's Swim Coach at Harvard University starting in 1977. (1977-1991)
Accused of Sexual Abuse in 2024 Lawsuit
Tumblr media
Amanda Le was one of those girls.
The 33-page lawsuit alleges Bernal sexually abused Le while she was a minor—he started coaching her when she was 13 and finished when she was 18.
Bernal died in October 2022. His coaching career took off when he transformed the Fordham University men’s team into a force while also starting up the school’s women’s swim team. He went on to serve as the head coach at Harvard, getting the nod to work on two U.S. Olympic staffs in 1984 and 1988. Inducted into the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) Hall of Fame in 2015, Bernal also founded Bernal’s Gator Swim Club, in New England (renamed Gator Swim Club), where he trained Ms. Le.
Dropped From Fordham University Hall of Fame
In February 2016, Bernal was given a lifetime ban by USA Swimming for sexual abuse of an unnamed “Athlete A,” which the lawsuit states was Le. Later that year, his place in the Hall of Fame of both the ASCA and Fordham was rescinded.
“The lawsuit states that Le would sleep in Bernal’s room on several team trips, and she would get picked up from Bernal to skip school and go to his house for sex. Le went to college from 2011 until 2014, and during her junior year, Bernal impregnated her and paid for the abortion, the lawsuit says.”
The lawsuit goes on to say that Le’s mother found her diary, and despite her parents showing it to another coach at Bernal’s Gator Swim Club, that coach did not contact law enforcement and “did nothing to protect Amanda.”
The suit also alleges that USA Swimming “was aware of complaints about Bernal’s inappropriate behavior with minor female swimmers” before Le began competitive swimming. It accuses Bernal, USA Swimming and other defendants of violating the Trafficking Victims Protection Act.
Tumblr media
Bernal was previously named in an August 2021 lawsuit in which Kimberly Stines accused him of a “five-year campaign of systemic emotional and sexual abuse” beginning in 1976.

Notes:
Hackett, mentioned above, who would eventually receive an MBA from the Ivy League University, went along to Harvard at the same time as Bernal. He would have participated in the 1980 Olympics had the USA team not boycotted the Moscow games that year.
Bernal also mentored legendary swimmer David Berkoff, inventor of the revolutionary "Berkoff Blastoff" underwater backstroke start. (Gold Medals at both the Seoul ‘88 and Barcelona ‘92 Olympics.)

The Green Bay Packers: A Legacy of Tradition, Triumph, and Titletown
When you think of the most storied franchises in the NFL, few teams come close to the Green Bay Packers. With a legacy that spans over a century, the Packers represent more than just a football team — they are a symbol of resilience, community, and excellence. Based in the smallest market in professional sports, Green Bay has built a dynasty that rivals the largest metropolitan franchises. The Packers are not just a team for the city of Green Bay but a pillar of tradition for the entire state of Wisconsin and football fans across the globe.
From the glory days of Vince Lombardi to the modern era of Aaron Rodgers, the Packers’ history is a tapestry of Hall of Famers, unforgettable moments, and a winning culture that has made them one of the most successful franchises in NFL history. In this blog, we’ll explore the team’s incredible journey, iconic moments, and what makes the Green Bay Packers such a special part of the NFL landscape.
A Unique Ownership Model: The People’s Team
One of the most fascinating aspects of the Packers is their ownership model. Unlike any other franchise in the major professional sports leagues in North America, the Packers are publicly owned. The team is a nonprofit organization, owned by over 537,000 shareholders, making the people of Green Bay and their fans the true owners of the team.
This unique structure has allowed the Packers to remain in Green Bay, a city with a population of just over 100,000, while competing against teams in much larger markets. The Packers’ small-town charm, combined with their success on the field, has earned them the nickname “Titletown.” It’s a testament to how football isn’t just a game for the people of Green Bay — it’s a way of life.
The Lombardi Era: A Dynasty is Born
The Packers’ place in NFL history was cemented during the Vince Lombardi era in the 1960s. Lombardi, the legendary head coach, took over the Packers in 1959 and immediately turned them into one of the most dominant teams in the league. His arrival ushered in an era of unprecedented success, as the Packers won five NFL Championships in a span of seven years, including the first two Super Bowl titles.
Lombardi’s teams were built on discipline, toughness, and an unrelenting commitment to excellence. His famous “Packers Sweep” play became one of the most iconic offensive strategies in football history, with Hall of Famers like Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, and Jim Taylor leading the charge.
The Packers’ back-to-back victories in Super Bowl I and Super Bowl II solidified their status as the NFL’s first true dynasty. Lombardi’s leadership and legacy are immortalized in the form of the Lombardi Trophy, awarded to the Super Bowl champions every year, a fitting tribute to a coach who exemplified winning.
The 1980s and 1990s: A New Era of Success
After Lombardi’s departure, the Packers struggled for many years to recapture their former glory. The team went through various coaching changes and mediocre seasons in the 1970s and early 1980s. However, the arrival of a new general manager, Ron Wolf, in 1991 marked the beginning of a resurgence in Green Bay.
One of Wolf’s most critical decisions was trading for a relatively unknown quarterback named Brett Favre from the Atlanta Falcons in 1992. Favre would go on to become one of the most iconic figures in Packers history, leading the team back to championship glory.
Favre’s gunslinger mentality, toughness, and passion for the game endeared him to Packers fans. Under head coach Mike Holmgren, the Packers became a powerhouse in the 1990s, culminating in their victory in Super Bowl XXXI in 1997, where they defeated the New England Patriots. Favre’s performance, along with the defensive dominance of Reggie White, brought the Lombardi Trophy back to Green Bay after nearly three decades.
Favre’s career in Green Bay was nothing short of legendary. He won three consecutive MVP awards (1995–1997) and led the Packers to multiple playoff appearances, solidifying his place as one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.
Aaron Rodgers Era: A New Generation of Greatness
As Brett Favre’s time in Green Bay came to a close, the Packers found themselves with another generational talent waiting in the wings. Aaron Rodgers, who was drafted in 2005 as Favre’s eventual successor, took over the starting role in 2008. Rodgers quickly proved that he was more than capable of carrying on the Packers’ tradition of elite quarterback play.
Rodgers’ combination of pinpoint accuracy, mobility, and football intelligence has made him one of the most talented and efficient quarterbacks the league has ever seen. In 2010, Rodgers led the Packers to victory in Super Bowl XLV, earning Super Bowl MVP honors and solidifying his legacy in Green Bay.
Rodgers has since gone on to win multiple MVP awards (2011, 2014, 2020), and his ability to consistently perform at an elite level has kept the Packers competitive year after year. His command of the offense, his clutch performances, and his ability to make difficult throws with ease have made him a future Hall of Famer.
Despite various changes in coaching staff and rosters over the years, Rodgers has been the constant driving force behind the Packers’ success in the 21st century, keeping Green Bay in the playoff mix almost every season.
Lambeau Field: The Frozen Tundra
No discussion about the Green Bay Packers is complete without mentioning Lambeau Field, one of the most iconic stadiums in all of sports. Known as the “Frozen Tundra” due to the harsh winter conditions, Lambeau Field has been the Packers’ home since 1957 and is the oldest continuously operated stadium in the NFL.
Lambeau is more than just a stadium — it’s a cathedral of football. The legendary “Lambeau Leap”, where players jump into the stands to celebrate with fans after scoring a touchdown, is one of the most celebrated traditions in sports.
The Packers’ fans, known as Cheeseheads, are among the most passionate and loyal in the NFL. Whether it’s a frigid December game or a late playoff run, Lambeau Field is always packed, and the energy is electric.
A Legacy of Championships
The Green Bay Packers have one of the richest traditions of winning in NFL history. With 13 NFL Championships (including four Super Bowl titles), the Packers have more championships than any other team in NFL history. This legacy of winning has created a culture of excellence that has endured for decades, transcending generations of fans and players.
From the days of Vince Lombardi to the Favre and Rodgers eras, the Packers have always been synonymous with greatness. The team’s iconic green and gold colors, its loyal fan base, and its rich tradition make the Packers one of the most beloved and respected franchises in all of sports.
Looking Forward: The Future of Titletown
As the Packers move forward into a new era, questions remain about the future of the team, especially with the transition from Aaron Rodgers to a new era of quarterback play. However, if the Packers’ history has taught us anything, it’s that this franchise always finds a way to rise to the occasion.
With a foundation built on community ownership, an unwavering fan base, and a legacy of winning, the Packers are poised to remain a force in the NFL for years to come. Whether it’s finding the next franchise quarterback or building a new generation of stars, the Green Bay Packers will continue to be a beacon of tradition, success, and football excellence.
A Team for the Ages
The Green Bay Packers are more than just a football team — they are a symbol of resilience, passion, and unwavering commitment to excellence. From the cold winters of Lambeau Field to the legends who have worn the green and gold, the Packers’ legacy is one of triumph and tradition.
As long as there is football, the Packers will be there, competing for championships and representing what makes the NFL great. Whether it’s their unique ownership model, their storied past, or the bright future ahead, the Green Bay Packers are truly one of a kind.
