Something about Vikings
In the popular imagination, the typical Viking warrior is depicted wearing a large horned helmet. However, representations from that era do not show any evidence of such headgear. Despite their widespread portrayal in this way, there is no historical proof that Vikings favored helmets with horns.
It remains intriguing to understand why horned helmets became such a defining symbol of the Viking people in modern pop culture. This iconography originated between the late 18th century and the early 19th century, when the Romantic movement brought Germanic and Norse sagas and mythology back into the spotlight. The idea of horns likely emerged among 19th-century Swedish writers or contemporary European painters, who based their reconstructions on Greek and Latin accounts. These accounts mentioned Norwegian and Germanic priests wearing horned helmets during specific pagan rituals over 2,000 years earlier.
In 1825, artist Gustav Malmström published an illustrated edition of the Saga of Frithiof, a Swedish poem by Esaias Tegnér inspired by events from the 8th century (although Tegnér’s source text dates back to the 1300s). This work gained immense international fame and sparked a fascination with Scandinavian peoples of the migration period that persists today. Malmström’s illustrations became iconic, and from 1825 onward, Scandinavians—frequently labeled as Vikings—were consistently depicted wearing horned helmets in every reproduction.

New song out for my metal project.
Inspired from village called Gjesvaer next to north cape in north Norway.
I use to live and work there 1996 - 1997. I also played with local band there and made life long friends.
Here is little story about Gjesvaer from viking age.
Sharing is caring
Peace and love

𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐟𝐝𝐚𝐧 "𝐇𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧" 𝐎𝐥𝐚𝐟𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧
In the year 144 years before the reign of Harald Fairhair, when the ancient legends of the North were still alive, a shadow fell over the land. The villages, once filled with laughter and joy, suffered under an ominous beast that roamed through the forests, spreading fear and terror. It was not just any beast; it was large, had red eyes, and went down in history as Fenrir. In these uncertain times, Halfdan "Hvitbein" Olafsson emerged, a brave warrior with a heart of steel and an unwavering faith in the gods. His name, "Hvitbein," which means "the White," was not only a mark of his honor but also an indication of the purity of his intentions. Halfdan was the first to confront the beast that terrorized the lands and filled the hearts of warriors with fear.
This threat soon called the gods into action, and they brought Fenrir to Asgard. Once the news of this great danger had spread, Halfdan had a weapon forged by his blacksmith. This weapon was so powerful that it instilled fear in the hearts of his enemies.
The blade was so mighty that the druids later sank it into Niflheim. They knew that it was not just a weapon but a powerful link between the worlds—an artifact forged for balance that was to be called upon again when the balance of the worlds was once more in jeopardy. For the moment, the danger was averted, and Fenrir was secured.
From that time on, every child in the North knew this story. The gods themselves commissioned Eilween, the oldest druid, to take the sword to the realm of the dead until the day when the balance of the worlds must be restored.

Viking axe pendant - 69$
Introducing the captivating Sterling Silver Axe Pendant, featuring a wolf on one side and a raven on the other. • Material: 925 Sterling Silver • Height - 1,81 inch (4,6 cm) • Weight - approx. 12 grams (0,42 oz)
This intricately designed pendant goes beyond its stunning appearance, encompassing a profound symbolism deeply rooted in Viking mythology. The axe, as a symbol, represents bravery, strength, and audacity. It serves as a reminder of the remarkable heritage and achievements of our ancestors, who defied the odds and shaped the world using their limited resources. Furthermore, the axe is closely associated with the fierce berserkers, embodying their wild and fearless nature. In the realm of Norse mythology, the presence of wolves and ravens adds another layer of significance to the Axe Pendant. Odin, the wise ruler of Asgard, initially created Freki and Geri, two wolves, to keep him company in his wanderings. These wolves symbolize loyalty, companionship, and the primal forces of nature. They roamed the worlds alongside Odin, forging a deep bond and hunting to sustain themselves. To complement the wolves, Odin later created Huginn and Muninn, two ravens, as his faithful scouts. The ravens possessed wings to locate prey and aided in the pursuit, ultimately sharing in the feast alongside the wolves. This eternal cycle of wolves and ravens working together symbolizes the interconnectedness of different forces and the importance of collaboration. By wearing the Sterling Silver Axe Pendant adorned with a wolf and a raven, you carry a tangible representation of these powerful mythological creatures. The pendant serves as a reminder of the primal forces of nature, loyalty, and the significance of cooperation. It encapsulates the spirit of the Viking warriors, who harnessed the strength of animals and their unwavering bond with nature. Let the Axe Pendant with its wolf and raven engravings inspire you to tap into your own inner strength and courage. Embrace the heritage and wisdom of the Viking ancestors, who understood the profound connection between humans and the natural world. May this pendant serve as a constant reminder to fearlessly cut through obstacles, forge ahead with determination, and cherish the power of unity.
