Just watched Viking Wolf (2022) and enjoyed it! It's Norwegian and not over the top gory, but still has a fair amount of gore. I like the werewolf design and concept, it's a one way transformation and retains the uncanny feeling even fully transformed. They use what is definitely a feline claw as a wolf claw early in the movie and that irks me!! But the creature itself is very neat. There's a puppy version at the beginning that I love??
The head shape of the grown werewolf is kinda funky but I like it, it's very Shaped and kinda reminds me of a cat in proportions
Teeth are... alright. Weird shaped for "a biologist said this is just a fucked up wolf" but not bad for a werewolf.
Theres a female werewolf in this, and I loveeee a female werewolf, AND there's a really nice sisterly bond in it that I quite enjoyed.
#werewolf#viking wolf 2022#viking wolf#the plot was like. fine. nothing spectacular but not bad. pretty run of the mill#theres also a deaf character who signs which is pretty cool#idk if its accurate sign language#the way the biologist goes from “wolves dont kill people.” to “yeah this fucked up massive thing on the table is a wolf for sure.”#“but why did silver kill it? i asked if any mutations like this have been logged and my friend said it had to be a werewolf. which is fake.”#like okay buddy.#countrys top predator expert sounds like a facebook comments thread but sure#i did like him overall he was just funny to me

I just watched Viking Wolf and I no longer care about „would you still love me if I was a worm“ I only care about „would you still love and recognize me even if you were a bloodthirsty werewolf who had lost its humanity“

Hi hello!! I put all your suggestions on a list to help anyone who stumbles upon this post, and I added the comments people made abt their suggestions too!
Good Manners (2017) - the women aren't werewolves but it still deals with that and it's SO worth it
Blood and Chocolate (2007) - apparently the book is better
Wildling (2018) - not explicitly a werewolf but the creature is pretty similar
Wolfblood (2012 to 2017) - teen tv show
When Animals Dream (2014) - i just read an essay that praises this movie a lot and will be watching it in the next 10 minutes
Wolf Like Me (2022) - tv show
How To Be a Werewolf (2015-ongoing) - webcomic (https://www.howtobeawerewolf.com/comic/coming-february-3rd)
You Won’t Be Alone (2022) - shapeshifter
WolfWalkers (2020) - animated movie
Viking Wolf (2022)
My Animal (2023) - Amandla Stenberg let's gooo/ indie queer movie
Werewolves Within (2021) - the woman is not the protagonist but is still very prominent and a main character
Guys for the love of god does anyone have recommendation of movies about female werewolves (besides Ginger Snaps)???
And I mean ABOUT female werewolves, not just feature them; they don't have to be the protagonists (tho it would be ideal) but gotta be very proeminent characters (like being the protagonist's love interest doesn't count unless she has development)
I'm going insane with the lists i found on google like please them as side characters doesn't count!!!

VIKING WOLF (2022)
First, we start off in the past. A bunch of Vikings free a demonic wolf from its prison under a French monastery. It kills everyone on the ship heading back home and then runs into the forest! We don’t see that last part, just the part where a Viking dude holds a computer-generated demon pup in a tunnel.
Jumping to now-times, we have Liv, a deputy who’s moved with her family to a middling Norwegian town with her family, and Thale, her daughter. There’s some family drama, with Thale being resentful about something involving her dead father. She also has heterochromia, two different colored eyes, which isn’t even mentioned by the characters. You just have to notice it on your own. Oh, there’s another younger daughter who’s deaf.
Anywho, Thale is sort of a loner, but she’s cute, so some dude invites her to a party. Another girl gets pissed at the dude and they go off so she can yell at him. Thale is wandering around and sees them being attacked by something. She goes down to help but is also attacked, and the other girl is dragged away. There’s a big hubbub over the next few days, and after a search the authorities find the remains of the girl’s body, which has been slashed by some animal. Liv, Thale’s deputy mom, basically has to run the investigation because the dude in charge apparently can’t stand the sight of blood, so she has to deal with the veterinarian who arrives to assist in the case. He confirms that the damage to the dead girl’s body was caused by a huge wolf.
Liv is visited by a cranky old man who talks about lycanthropes and werewolves, and he gives her a silver bullet before she tosses him out of her office. She then leads a team of hunters into the forest to find the wolf. Meanwhile, Thale, her daughter, hasn’t been feeling well. She has a festering wound from the attack. (At one point Liv wants to take her to a doctor, but Thale refuses, and Liv lets it go?!) Thale has heightened senses and can’t sleep. She runs out of school and lies in a grassy field. Liv and the hunters find the decapitated body of another man and continue on toward an old mining shaft. Liv heads down, but the rest of the hunters are attacked! Liv is climbing back to the surface but she is suddenly confronted by the big computer-generated wolf! She falls back into the cave, and as the wolf is stalking toward her she shoots it a bunch of times. She empties the clip and then loads in the silver bullet, which kills the wolf!
Everyone thinks that the ordeal is over, except that Thale is turning into the next werewolf! She hangs out with the dude that originally invited her to the party, and she kills him. She almost goes to her mother for help, but flees (because they have a bad relationship). She hops on a bus to Oslo, but it’s a full moon out, so she completes her transformation into a giant wolf and begins to attack people. Liv arrives at the scene afterwards and finds Thale’s clothes and necklace and realizes that the wolf is her daughter! Wolf-Thale returns home, and her younger sister recognizes her (probably by the heterochromatic eyes), and the wolf hesitates long enough for the father and sister to escape. Wolf-Thale follows them to town, where it begins to attack people!
Liv arrives with the veterinarian from earlier. He has a gun with tranquilizer darts, and, while little sister once again distracts the wolf, he shoots it with a dart. Unfortunately, it’s not enough, and the wolf chases everyone into a building. The old cranky dude from earlier arrives and slams his truck into the building front, and the wolf kills him. The wolf is then attacking Liv, but little sister grabs another tranquilizer dart and jabs it into the wolf. The wolf is finally sedated. Later, when the wolf is tied to a table in a lab, Liv holds the gun next to the wolf, but then we cut to black! We then see Liv put a silver bullet next to a picture of her daughter. Did she shoot her or not?
I’ve never been a fan of werewolf stories. They’re just people who turn into wolves. I guess maybe there are themes relating to mankind’s underlying animalistic nature, but then we also have really weird fandoms built up around this trope. This movie, I suppose, was fine. I enjoy Nordic-noir movies and series, and this definitely had that vibe, of small-town secrets, interpersonal issues, and no-nonsense reactions from the characters, but everything felt a bit rushed due to the 90 minute runtime. Still, it's those elements which move this from the typical monster movie to something a little more interesting. There were some pretentions to artfulness, with occasional scenes of the sleeping Thale floating over a field, much like Maximus in “Gladiator” (2000), and I’ll probably remember those scenes as the rest of this fades into the past.

Forging the Power of the Norse: A Guide to Crafting a Viking Axe
The Viking axe holds a prominent place in Norse history and mythology, symbolizing strength, skill, and the spirit of the Viking warriors. If you're eager to immerse yourself in the ancient art of blacksmithing and create your very own Viking axe, this guide will take you through the process step by step. From selecting the right materials to shaping and tempering the blade, let us embark on a journey to forge the power of the Norse.
I. Understanding the Viking Axe Before diving into the forging process, it's important to familiarize yourself with the characteristics and significance of the Viking axe. Viking axes typically had a broad, crescent-shaped blade with a pronounced beard, providing a versatile tool for both combat and daily tasks. The axe head was attached to a haft made of wood, creating a powerful weapon that showcased the Viking warrior's prowess.
II. Gathering the Materials To begin forging your Viking axe, you'll need the following materials:
Axe Head: Choose a suitable steel material, such as high carbon steel or tool steel, with excellent strength and edge retention. Obtain or shape the axe head to the desired design, ensuring it adheres to the characteristic Viking axe shape.
Haft: Select a strong and durable wood for the haft, such as ash, hickory, or oak. Ensure it is long enough to provide a comfortable grip and proper balance.
III. Forging Process a) Preparing the Axe Head:
Heating: Heat the steel in a forge or using a propane torch until it reaches a bright orange color.
Shaping: Use a hammer and an anvil to shape the heated steel into the desired Viking axe head shape, incorporating the characteristic beard and edge.
Beveling: Begin beveling the blade, gradually tapering the thickness towards the edge, creating a sharp cutting surface.
Punching the Eye: Use a drift or a punch to create the eye, ensuring it is of appropriate size and shape for the haft to fit snugly.
b) Crafting the Haft:
Selecting the Haft: Shape the wooden haft to the desired length, ensuring it provides a comfortable grip and proper balance for the axe head.
Carving: Carve the haft to shape, removing excess wood and creating contours that fit your hand comfortably. Pay attention to ergonomics and aesthetics.
Sanding and Finishing: Smooth the haft surface using sandpaper or a file. Apply a protective finish, such as linseed oil or a varnish, to enhance durability and showcase the natural beauty of the wood.
IV. Heat Treatment and Tempering a) Heat Treatment: Heat the axe head to critical temperature and then quench it in a quenching medium, such as oil or water, to harden the steel. b) Tempering: Heat the hardened axe head to a specific temperature and hold it for a certain duration to achieve the desired balance between hardness and toughness.
V. Handle Assembly and Finishing a) Haft Attachment: Fit the haft into the eye of the axe head, ensuring a secure and tight fit. Use wooden or metal wedges to secure the haft in place. b) Finishing Touches: Sand any rough edges or imperfections on the axe head and haft. Apply a protective coating or finish to the haft to enhance its durability and aesthetics.
